Abstract

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams have attracted great attention owing to their excellent performances in imaging and communication. In this paper, a dual-arm Archimedean spiral antenna (DASA) is proposed to generate multiple OAM states with positive and negative values by feeding at the inner and outer ends, respectively. The topological charge of radiated vortex waves is reconfigurable by tuning the operating frequency. Dual-mode OAM states are generated at different working frequencies (l = &plusmn, 1 at 3 GHz, l = &plusmn, 2 at 4 GHz, and l = &plusmn, 3 at 4.8 GHz). Both the simulation and measurement results demonstrate that OAM beams can be generated effectively by the DASA. In addition, a conical cavity is used to increase the gain of the proposed DASA for more than 5 dBi in comparison to the traditional cylindrical cavity. Furthermore, the qualities of the generated OAM modes by the proposed DASA have been evaluated at different operating frequencies of 3 GHz, 4 GHz, and 4.8 GHz, respectively. The OAM modes purities of l = &minus, 1, &minus, 2, &minus, 3, 1, 2, and 3 are predominate with the proportion of about 81%, 70%, 74%, 78%, 77%, and 75%, respectively. Our results demonstrate that the proposed DASA has great potentials in OAM multiplexing communication systems.

Abstract

Research was conducted to investigate the synthesis, characterization, and luminescence of europium(III) Schiff base complexes. Luminescence in solution was examined both at 77 K and at room temperature where the triplet-state energies of the complexes were established by calculations with the corresponding Y(III) complexes. Results are in good agreement with previously reported europium polyelectrolytes.

Abstract

Objective: To compare the treatment efficacy and safety of tofacitinib (TOF) versus methotrexate (MTX) in Takayasu arteritis (TAK).Methods: Fifty-three patients with active disease from an ongoing prospective TAK cohort in China were included in this study. Twenty-seven patients were treated with glucocorticoids (GCs) and TOF, and 26 patients were treated with GCs with MTX. The observation period was 12 months. Complete remission (CR), inflammatory parameter changes, GCs tapering and safety were assessed at the 6th, 9th and 12th month. Vascular lesions were evaluated at the 6th and 12th month, and relapse was analysed during 12 months.Results: The CR rate was higher in the TOF group than in the MTX group (6 months: 85.19% vs 61.54%, p=0.07; 12 months: 88.46% vs 56.52%, p=0.02). During 12 months' treatment, patients in the TOF group achieved a relatively lower relapse rate (11.54% vs 34.78%, p=0.052) and a longer median relapse-free duration (11.65±0.98 vs 10.48±2.31 months, p=0.03). Average GCs dose at the 3rd, 6th and 12th month was lower in the TOF group than that in the MTX group (p<0.05). A difference was not observed in disease improvement or disease progression on imaging between the two groups (p>0.05). Prevalence of side effects was low in both groups (3.70% vs 15.38%, p=0.19).Conclusion: TOF was superior to MTX for CR induction, a tendency to prevent relapse and tapering of the GCs dose in TAK treatment. Abstract

Two new soluble, linear cerium(IV) coordination polymers may be best synthesized by step growth chelation polymerization between cerium(IV) alkoxide or cerium(IV) acetylacetonate and a pre-made Schiff-base. After fractionation, the molecular weight of the polymers are 31500 and 28000 respectively. The polymers have high solubilities in organic solvents and show good thermal stability. The flexibility and solubility of the compounds may be improved by addition of methyl groups to the Schiff-bases and polymers.

Abstract

A new methodology enables the synthesis of lanthanide(III) disalicylidene-1, 2-phenylenediamine (H2dsp) Schiff-base complexes. UV absorption and magnetic resonance spectroscopic studies of these complexes reveal the presence of an equilibrium in solution. In complexes of the Ln2dsp3 type, one dsp2- ligand simultaneously coordinates with two Ln3+ ions through its oxygen atoms. Analysis of the intensity of different peaks in the NMR spectra confirms the presence of various ions in dimethyl-sulfoxide solution (DMSO). The thermal stability and solubility of the complexes in DMSO depend on the type of ligand and ion.

Abstract

The minimized diffusion limitation and completely exposed strong acid sites of the ultrathin zeolites make it an industrially important catalyst especially for converting bulky molecules. However, the structure-controlled and large-scale synthesis of the material is still a challenge. In this work, the direct synthesis of the single-layer MWW zeolite was demonstrated by using hexamethyleneimine and amphiphilic organosilane as structure-directing agents. Characterization results confirmed the formation of the single-layer MWW zeolite with high crystallinity and excellent thermal/hydrothermal stability. The formation mechanism was rigorously revealed as the balanced rates between the nucleation/growth of the MWW nanocrystals and the incorporation of the organosilane into the MWW unit cell, which is further supported by the formation of MWW nanosheets with tunable thickness via simply changing synthesis conditions. The commercially available reagents, well-controlled structure and the high catalytic stability for the alkylation of benzene with 1-dodecene make it an industrially important catalyst. In this paper, a new kind of power generation system was built, which took solar energy as heat source of the system. All heat exchangers in the system adopted a new kind of heat exchanger type-Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE). In order to take advantage of the abrupt property changes near the critical point of carbon dioxide, we selected recompression Brayton cycle. Then, given the operating conditions, the optimization progress was performed and the optimized parameters were obtained.
