We examine the time delay between radio and X-ray and between narrow radio frequency flares in Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), from analyses of the synchrotron, bremsstrahlung and monochromatic luminosity curves. Using the results of 2D relativistic radiation magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations based on the shock oscillation model, we find three types of time delay between the synchrotron and bremsstrahlung emissions: Type A with a time delay of 2 -- 3 h on the shock descending branch, Type B with no time delay and Type C with an inverse time delay of 0.5 -- 1 h on the shock ascending branch. The time delays in Types A and C are interpreted as a transit time of Alfv\'{e}n and acoustic waves between both emission dominant regions, respectively. The delay times between 22 and 43 GHz flares and between 8 and 10 GHz flares are $\sim$ 13 -- 26 min and 13 min, respectively, while the inverse delay also occurs dependently on the shock location branch. These time delays between the narrow radio bands are interpreted as the transit time of the acoustic wave between the frequency-dependent effective radii $R_{\tau_{\rm \nu=1}}$, at which the optical depth $\tau_{\rm \nu}$ at the accretion disc surface becomes $\sim$ unity. The shock oscillation model explains well the observed delay times of 0.5 -- 5 h between radio and X-ray, 20 -- 30 min between 22 and 43 GHz and $\sim$ 18 min between 8 and 10 GHz in Sgr A*., Comment: 14 pages, 14 figures, (accepted for publication in MNRAS)

Computational fluid dynamics model parameters highly depend on the storage structure, grain conditions, and airflow properties. Solution methods obtained for the lab-scale bins cannot be extrapolated for a relatively large on-farm silo. To validate the above hypothesis, a model was developed and validated with stored barley aeration in a 1000t silo. A mathematical function was used to initialize the discrete initial conditions in the silo followed by using DEFINE_macros to execute parallel computing. Time-step analysis was conducted followed by optimization of the solution methods in terms of the accuracy and time frame of the model's output. Results showed that with a time-step of 4 s, temperature and moisture error were 1.1-1.7 degrees C and 0.3% wb while mean relative deviation were 3.1-4.4% and 2.2%, respectively. COUPLED algorithm resulted in a similar accuracy as of SIMPLE scheme except within spatial and transient formulations. However, the former algorithm was observed to take almost 190% more time than the latter scheme, limiting the simulation efficiency in an on-farm silo. Green Gauss Node-based gradient technique was found to be the appropriate for discretizing large silos. Model showed 45 kJ kg(-1) energy emission that decreased the cooling potential of air in silo. As field evaluation of aeration strategies are time-consuming, this model can be used to obtain results that could shape the stored grain management practice. Refereed/Peer-reviewed

Introduction: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is acknowledged as a significant health challenge on a global scale affecting 08 – 39.7% of total population. The management of Allergic rhinitis encompasses patient education on avoidance of allergens as well as the use of pharmacotherapy and allergen- specific immunotherapy. Avoidance of allergen may not be practically applicable always and the pharmacological treatment has side effects on long term use. Hence an alternate treatment modality is required to alleviate the symptom for long duration with less side effects. Materials and Methods: we conducted a randomized double blinded prospective study on 75 patients with allergic rhinitis. They were randomized into 3 groups, 1st group using isotonic saline irrigation, 2nd group using hypertonic nasal irrigation and 3rd group as control. The evaluation was done using SNOT22 score and nasal mucociliary clearance time. Results: Isotonic Saline Nasal Irrigation was found to reduce overall symptoms better than Hypertonic Saline Nasal Irrigation group. Nasal douching also improved Nasal Mucociliary Clearance. Isotonic Saline Nasal Irrigation restored Mucociliary Clearance better than Hypertonic Saline Nasal Irrigation. Compliance to treatment was found to be good for short term. Conclusion: Nasal irrigation along with other medications definitely had better outcome in symptom control in patients with AR. However studies to know the effect of nasal douching in AR for longer duration are needed.

Greening is an undesirable trait that develops in potatoes upon light exposure. This condition lowers market value, increases tuber waste in retail stores, and consequently influences the price of product in the long run. When potatoes are subjected to artificial light, the amyloplast converts into chloroplast. Although the development of total glycoalkaloids (TGA) is independent of light, the greening induced by exposure of potato to artificial light is an indication of probable TGA acceleration, which could be present in a low amount initially. Several research studies on optimum postharvest factors (temperature, lighting condition, relative humidity, pretreatment, storage air composition, and packaging) have been carried out to avoid greening and TGA development. This current review highlights major postharvest factors and summarizes past research regarding cause of greening and TGA development in potatoes in retail stores. Additionally, it also portrays the potential solutions that could help mitigate this problem, ultimately reducing wastage and achieving food security.

Background: Osteosarcoma (OS) represents the most common primary bone tumor in humans and in companion dogs, being practically phenotypically identical. There is a need for effective treatments to extend the survival of patients with OS. Here, we examine the dosimetry in beagle dogs and cross-reactivity with human tissues of a novel human antibody, IF3, that targets the insulin growth factor receptor type 2 (IGF2R), which is overexpressed on OS cells, making it a candidate for radioimmunotherapy of OS. Methods: [89Zr]Zr-DFO-IF3 was injected into three healthy beagle dogs. PET/CT was conducted at 4, 24, 48, and 72 h. RAPID analysis was used to determine the dosimetry of [177Lu]Lu-CHXA”-IF3 for a clinical trial in companion dogs with OS. IF3 antibody was biotinylated, and a multitude of human tissues were assessed with immunohistochemistry. Results: PET/CT revealed that only the liver, bone marrow, and adrenal glands had high uptake. Clearance was initially through renal and hepatobiliary excretion in the first 72 h followed by primarily physical decay. RAPID analysis showed bone marrow to be the dose-limiting organ with a therapeutic range for 177Lu calculated to be 0.487–0.583 GBq. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated the absence of IGF2R expression on the surface of healthy human cells, thus suggesting that radioimmunotherapy with [177Lu]Lu-CHXA”-IF3 will be well tolerated. Conclusions: Image-based dosimetry has defined a safe therapeutic range for canine clinical trials, while immunohistochemistry has suggested that the antibody will not cross-react with healthy human tissues.

In this paper we experimentally show parametric amplification and wavelength conversion in a custom manufactured dual-core highly nonlinear fiber. On-off gain > 10 dB and conversion efficiencies between −1 and −8.5 dB were measured for both cores. The estimated effective nonlinear parameter for the cores of the fiber are 6.6 W−1.km−1 and 6.3 W−1.km−1, while the zero-dispersion wavelength for the individual cores is shown to be relatively close from each other. Furthermore, complementary analytical and numerical results show that coupled cores fiber optical parametric amplifier offer the potential of wide-band gain even when they have significantly distinct zero-dispersion wavelengths.

RationaleCardiac conduction is understood to occur through gap junctions. Recent evidence supports ephaptic coupling as another mechanism of electrical communication in heart. Conduction via gap junctions predicts a direct relationship between conduction velocity (CV) and bulk extracellular volume. Ephaptic theory is premised on the existence of a biphasic relationship between CV and the volume of specialized extracellular clefts within intercalated discs.ObjectiveDetermine the relationship between ventricular CV and structural changes to micro and nano-scale extracellular spaces.MethodsConduction and connexin43 (Cx43) gap junction protein expression were quantified from optically mapped guinea pig whole-heart preparations perfused with albumin, mannitol, dextran 70kDa, or dextran 2MDa. Peak sodium current was quantified from isolated guinea pig ventricular myocytes. Extracellular resistance (Re) was quantified by impedance spectroscopy. Intercellular communication was assessed in a heterologous expression system with fluorescence recovery after photobleaching. Perinexal width was quantified from transmission electron micrographs.ResultsCV was significantly reduced by mannitol, and increased by albumin, dextran 70kDa and 2MDa. The combination of albumin and dextran 70kDa decreased CV relative to albumin alone. Rewas reduced by mannitol, not significantly changed by albumin, and increased by both dextran 70kDa and dextran 2MDa. Cx43 gap junction expression and conductance, and peak sodium current were not significantly altered by the osmotic agents. The perinexal width in response to osmotic agents, in order of narrowest to widest, was: albumin with dextran 70kDa, albumin or dextran 2MDa alone, dextran 70kDa or no osmotic agent, and mannitol. When compared in the same order, CV was biphasically related to perinexal width.ConclusionsCardiac conduction does not correlate with bulk tissue impedance, but is biphasically related to perinexal separation, providing evidence that the relationship between CV and extracellular volume in ventricular myocardium is determined by ephaptic mechanisms under conditions of normal gap junctional coupling.
