Objetivo: Investigar a efetividade e a aplicabilidade do método do caso junto a alunos do mestrado em ciências contábeis da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Metodologia: O estudo realizado foi caracterizado como descritivo e a coleta de dados se deu através de um questionário com perguntas abertas após a aplicação de um caso. O tratamento dos dados foi realizado através de análise de conteúdo com auxílio do software ATLAS.ti®. Resultados: No que diz respeito à efetividade, destacou-se a interação dos alunos a partir das discussões em pequenos grupos para, posteriormente, no grande grupo, ocorrer a contribuição para a resolução do caso com uma discussão mais profunda. Referente à aplicabilidade, os resultados demonstram a necessidade de utilização de outras metodologias ativas na resolução do caso, como exemplo mais citado pelos alunos, têm-se o role-play. Também foram evidenciadas as dificuldades e limitações identificadas durante a intervenção educativa, entre elas, o pouco tempo disponibilizado para a aplicação deste método e a dificuldade de se encontrar bons casos para aplicar em sala de aula. Contribuições do estudo: O estudo contribui com as discussões acerca da adoção de metodologias ativas, o que permite a identificação de pontos fortes e fracos, assim como as limitações, oportunizando, por consequência, sugestões de melhoria e aprimoramento do processo de ensino-aprendizagem.

Abstract Background The use of monoethanolamine oleate 5% is effective for the treatment of vascular malformations with low blood flow. Objectives To report a case series of vascular malformations in the mouth and oral cavity treated with monoethanolamine oleate 5%. Methods A retrospective descriptive study was performed in electronic patient charts covering seven years. Patient demographics, diagnostic resources, lesion site, size, and number of applications of monoethanolamine oleate 5% were collected. Results A total of 21 vascular malformations were recorded, located mostly on the lower lip (52.3%) and resolved in a single application in 14 patients. The authors found 19 patients treated with sclerotherapy. Thirteen were women and six were men, with a mean age of 61 years. Study limitation Small sample size. Conclusions Sclerotherapy is an effective treatment for vascular malformations of the lips and oral cavity, with resolution after only one or two applications (n = 16).

Abstract Background Trypanosoma cruzi is the causative agent of Chagas disease, which is endemic to subtropical and tropical Americas. The disease treatment remains partially ineffective, involving therapies directed to the parasite as well as palliative strategies for the clinical manifestations. Therefore, novel candidates for disease control are necessary. Additionally, strategies based on parasite inhibition via specific targets and application of compounds which improve the immune response against the disease is welcomed. Ghrelin is a peptide hormone pointed as a substance with important cardioprotective, vasodilatory, anti-apoptotic, anti-oxidative and immune modulatory functions. The aims of this study were to evaluate the immunomodulatory effects of ghrelin in male Wistar rats infected with the Y strain of T. cruzi. Methods In order to delineate an immune response against T. cruzi mediated by ghrelin, we evaluated the following parameters: quantification of blood and cardiac parasites; analysis of cell markers (CD3+, CD8+, NK, NKT, CD45RA+, macrophage and RT1B+); nitric oxide (NO) production; lymphoproliferation assays; splenocyte apoptosis; and INF-γ, IL-12 and IL-6 quantification in sera. Results The animals infected with T. cruzi and supplemented with ghrelin demonstrated an upregulated pattern in macrophage and NO production, whereas an anti-inflammatory response was observed in T cells and cytokines. The low response against T. cruzi mediated by T cells probably contributed to a higher colonization of the cardiac tissue, when compared to infected groups. On the other side, the peptide decreased the inflammatory infiltration in cardiac tissue infected with T. cruzi. Conclusions Ghrelin demonstrated a dual function in animals infected with T. cruzi. Further studies, especially related to the decrease of cardiac tissue inflammation, are needed in order to determine the advantages of ghrelin supplementation in Chagas disease, mostly for populations from endemic areas.

Este artigo propõe apresentar e discutir o projeto de cenografia e figurino de Hélio Oiticica para o filme A Cangaceira Eletrônica de Antônio Carlos da Fontoura, 1970. Foi possível situar em que lugar da carreira de Oiticica este trabalho é desenvolvido e qual a importância da atividade performativa em sua poética. A partir de fontes primárias como manuscritos, cartas e entrevistas, além da literatura específica para ler a poética de Oiticica, foi possível realizar uma análise cuidadosa de cada um dos croquis-colagem revelando de que maneira cada um dos itens apontados no projeto se relacionam com o roteiro proposto. Podemos perceber por meio deste estudo a forma com que a relação entre o cinema, a música e a atividade performativa adquirem papel central a partir do ano de 1969 e tratam-se de um eloquente desdobramento de linguagem que integra o chamado Programa Ambiental, projeto poético de Oiticica.

The objective of this article is to analyze how women workers linked to commerce perceive the subalternities to which they are conditioned, the individual constraints they have and the forms of resistance they develop in the context of the sexual division of labor. We seek to understand how women’s perception of the sexual division of labor and the forms of mobilization and resistance regarding situations of gender inequality are still rooted in our society. Using the research technique of the semistructured interview, this is a qualitative study, which has the city of Guarabira/PB as locus of the research. It is expected that this study and the results here pointed out may contribute to the understanding of how the women interviewed consider ways of overcoming that gender inequality.

Atualmente, o Brasil é considerado o sexto maior consumidor mundial de óleos lubrificantes, por consequência, o sexto maior produtor de Óleo Lubrificante Usado ou Contaminado (OLUC), com uma produção anual de cerca de um bilhão de litros. O OLUC é considerado um resíduo perigoso pela Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos (PNRS), isso coloca vários desafios ao seu sistema de gerenciamento. A ausência de um inventário do ciclo de vida do OLUC, é o principal problema de desenvolvimento de estudos de Avaliação de Ciclo de Vida (ACV) de OLUC no Brasil. Assim, constitui o objetivo principal deste estudo a identificação, qualificação e quantificação dos indicadores ambientais, econômicos e sociais deste ciclo. A metodologia constitui-se basicamente pela análise de laudos laboratorial, para obtenção de dados ambientais, análise de relatórios financeiros, entrevistas e observação das diferentes etapas do ciclo para obtenção de dados econômicos e sociais. Em função dos modelos de gerenciamento do OLUC observados no Brasil, definiram-se dois cenários, o TTR que inclui as etapas de geração, transporte com transbordo e rerrefino e, o TsTR que exclui o transbordo. Os resultados mostraram diferenças para as dimensões ambientais, econômicas e sociais quando os dois cenários são comparados. O estudo possibilitou obter os fluxos de massa e energia, o balanço econômico do processo e as contribuições para o bem-estar social dos trabalhadores neste ciclo de vida. Desta forma o presente trabalho apresenta o inventário ambiental, econômico e social do ciclo de vida do OLUC. Palavras-chave: Inventário de Ciclo de Vida (ICV). El OLUC es considerado un residuo peligroso por la Política Nacional de Residuos Sólidos (PNRS), esto plantea varios desafíos a su sistema de gestión. La ausencia de un inventario del ciclo de vida del OLUC, es el principal problema de desarrollo de estudios de Evaluación de Ciclo de Vida (ACV) de OLUC en Brasil. Así, constituye el objetivo principal de este estudio la identificación, calificación y cuantificación de los indicadores ambientales, económicos y sociales de este ciclo. La metodología se constituye básicamente por el análisis de laudos de laboratorio, para la obtención de datos ambientales, análisis de informes financieros, entrevistas y observación de las diferentes etapas del ciclo para la obtención de datos económicos y sociales. En función de los modelos de gestión del OLUC observados en Brasil, se definieron dos escenarios, el TTR que incluye las etapas de generación, transporte con transbordo y rerrefino y, el TsTR que excluye el transbordo. Los resultados mostraron diferencias para las dimensiones ambientales, económicas y sociales cuando se comparan los dos escenarios. Aceite Lubricante Usado o Contaminado (OLUC).Abstract Brazil is, currently, considered the sixth largest consumer of lubricating oils in the world, consequently, the sixth largest producer of Used or Contaminated Lubricating Oil (OLUC), with an annual production of around one billion liters. OLUC is considered a hazardous waste by the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), which poses several challenges to its management system. The absence of an OLUC life cycle inventory is the main problem in the development of OLUC life cycle assessment (LCA) studies in Brazil. Thus, the main objective of this study is the identification, qualification and quantification of the environmental, economic and social indicators of this cycle. The methodology is basically based on laboratory reports, for obtaining environmental data, analysis of financial reports, interviews and observation of the different stages to obtain economic and social data. According to the OLUC management models observed in Brazil, two scenarios were defined, the TTR that includes the generation, transshipment and re-routing phases, and the TsTR that excludes the transshipment. The results showed differences for the environmental, economic and social dimensions when the two scenarios are compared. The study made it possible to obtain the mass and energy flows, the economic balance of the process and the contributions to the social well-being of the workers in this life cycle. Existem no mercado agrícola bioestimulantes vegetais a base de alga, principalmente da Ascophyllum nodosum, porém praticamente não há pesquisas sobre o efeito destes produtos no crescimento e produtividade de grãos em condições de clima tropical. Diante do exposto, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito bioestimulante e fertilizante da alga Ascophyllum nodosum nos componentes produtivos e produtividade de grãos de trigo irrigado em região de Cerrado. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em Selvíria – MS, em um Latossolo Vermelho Distrófico. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso com cinco tratamentos e cinco repetições, sendo os tratamentos: Testemunha, aplicação única (aos 24 dias após emergência (d.a.e.) do trigo) ou dupla (aos 24 e 60 d.a.e) de extrato de Ascophyllum nodosum com o produto comercial polifértil®, e aplicação única (aos 24 d.a.e) ou dupla (aos 24 e 60 d.a.e) de extrato de Ascophyllum nodosum com o produto Acadian®. Os extratos de alga à base de Ascophyllum nodosum não influenciaram os componentes produtivos e produtividade de grãos de trigo, portanto sua utilização como bioestimulante não é necessária em solos com fertilidade adequada e cultivo irrigado.

Abstract BoNT-A has been widely used for TMD therapy. However, the potential benefits compared to dry needling techniques are not clear. Objective this study aimed to compare the immediate effects of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) injections and Acupuncture in myofascial temporomandibular disorders (TMD) patients. Methodology 54 women were divided into three groups (n=18). AC patients received four sessions of traditional acupuncture, being one session/week during 20-min. BoNT-A patients were bilaterally injected with 30U and 10U in masseter and anterior temporal muscles, respectively. Moreover, a control group received saline solution (SS) in the same muscles. Self-perceived pain was assessed by visual analog scale, while pressure pain threshold (PPT) was verified by a digital algometer. Electromyographic evaluations (EMG) of anterior temporal and masseter muscles were also measured. All variables were assessed before and 1-month after therapies. The mixed-design two-way repeated measures ANOVA and Tukey’s post-hoc tests were used for analysis, considering a=0.05. This work aims to report the use of computed tomography (CT) and 3D printing technology in the diagnosis of dynamic instability with spinal compression, and the planning of cervical stabilization surgical of a 3-month-old canine with congenital cervical malformations. The patient had non-ambulatory tetraparesis, and a radiograph showed the fusion of the vertebral bodies from C3 to T3. A CT scan pinpointed the site of the spinal compression and revealed dynamic instability and severe spinal compression between the C2-C3 vertebrae. Tomographic images were processed to print a 3D prosthesis of the patient’s craniocervical-thoracic region to optimize and plan the necessary surgery. After studying the 3D prosthesis and selecting the surgical implants required, cervical stabilization surgery through ventral access was performed. The patient’s clinical improvement was rapid and progressive. Fifteen days post-surgery he was already in a quadrupedal position, after approximately 50 days he started walking again. In a year and a half of follow-up, the patient did not present any recurrence of the clinical signs. The conclusion was that CT and 3D printing contributed substancially for the clinical and surgical management, inferring quality, precision, and agility in the therapy undertaken.

O objetivo deste estudo é compreender os problemas éticos e bioéticos nas vivências de enfermeiros no cotidiano da atenção primária à saúde (APS) e seu impacto sobre a segurança do profissional. Trata-se de um estudo de casos múltiplos holístico-qualitativo, fundamentado na sociologia compreensiva do cotidiano, com 54 enfermeiros atuantes na aps. Apresenta dois casos definidos pelos cenários de duas capitais do sul do Brasil. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo temática e à técnica analítica da síntese cruzada dos casos. Os resultados evidenciam que os problemas éticos e bioéticos se relacionam às precariedades do sistema e do atendimento, às condições de infraestrutura, ambiente e ambiência, e às fragilidades em torno das relações usuário-família- equipe, equipe-equipe e equipe-gestão, impactando negativamente na segurança do profissional. A segurança foi favorecida mediante a experiência e as habilidades adquiridas pelo enfermeiro em seu exercício profissional, a sistematização da assistência, os protocolos assistenciais, o uso de redes e mídias sociais, e a sensibilização das equipes por meio de espaços de discussão e capacitação referentes à ética e à bioética, e da atuação profissional segura. A compreensão da segurança do profissional enfermeiro, neste estudo, integra a objetividade que normatiza as condutas éticas e bioéticas, e a subjetividade de enfermeiros(as) ao apontar questtionamentos sobre sua segurança profissional perante sentimentos, angústias e anseios em sua prática cotidiana.

Este artigo fundamentou-se nas análises desenvolvidas pelo Grupo de Pesquisa CNPq “Economia do Trabalho, Educação e Desenvolvimento Regional”, bem como dos resultados parciais de pesquisas realizadas junto ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino: Formação Docente Interdisciplinar da Universidade Estadual do Paraná. Realizou-se um recorte em que foram analisadas as incongruências formativas no Ensino Médio Integrado oferecido pelo Instituto Federal do Paraná (IFPR). Por meio de uma pesquisa qualitativa ancorada em análises bibliográficas e em fontes documentais, identificaram-se o perfil profissional docente do professor atuante no IFPR bem como a concepção de Ensino Profissional proposta nos Projetos Pedagógicos dos cursos das modalidades analisadas, cursos ofertados na mesorregião metropolitana de Curitiba, mais precisamente nos campi de Campo Largo, Curitiba e Pinhais. Os resultados alcançados revelaram que os cursos pesquisados têm sua ênfase centrada na formação para o mercado de trabalho, ainda que o Ensino Médio Integrado seja a última etapa da Educação Básica, portanto de caráter formativo. A prevalência da concepção formativa técnica unilateral implica que as aulas são ministradas, exceção à regra, por professores bacharéis, com reduzida carga horária das disciplinas de Ciências Humanas e Sociais no eixo Formação Técnica e Profissional.

This study investigated the occurrence of Giardia duodenalis and Cryptosporidium spp. in rodents and marsupials from the Atlantic Forest in southern Bahia, northeastern Brazil. Two hundred and four fecal samples were collected from different forest areas in the municipalities of Ilhéus, Una, Belmonte, and Mascote. Identifications were performed using PCR and nested PCR followed by sequencing of the gdh and tpi genes for G. duodenalis, and the gp60 and Hsp-70 genes for Cryptosporidium. The total frequency of positive PCR samples for both G. duodenalis and Cryptosporidium spp. was 5.4% (11/204). Giardia duodenalis occurred in 2.94% (4/136) of rodents and 2.94% (2/68) of marsupials. The prevalence of Cryptosporidium in rodents and marsupials was 1.47% (2/136) and 4.41% (3/68), respectively. In the areas sampled, the frequency of parasitism was 50% (7/14), while the Mascote region alone had no parasitized animals. The G. duodenalis subgenotype AI was identified in the rodent species Hylaeamys laticeps, Oecomys catherinae, Oligoryzomys nigripes and Akodon cursor, and in the marsupials Gracilinanus agilis and Monodelphis americana. In the rodents Rhipidomys mastacalis, H. laticeps and in the marsupial Marmosa murina the protozoa Cryptosporidium fayeri, Cryptosporidium parvum and Cryptosporidium ubiquitum with subtypes IIa and IVg by the gp60 gene were found. In conclusion, this study provides the genetic characterization of Giardia and Cryptosporidium species and genotypes in rodents and marsupials. And, these findings reinforce that the rodent and marsupial species mentioned above play a role as new hosts for Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

Objetivo: compreender as vivências cotidianas de usuários, em demanda espontânea, para o acesso e a acessibilidade no Sistema Único de Saúde na porta de entrada da Atenção Primária à Saúde. Materiais e métodos: estudo de casos múltiplos holístico-qualitativo, fundamentado na sociologia compreensiva do cotidiano, com 60 participantes de município de grande porte do estado de Minas Gerais,Brasil. Resultados: a demanda espontânea, no cotidiano, está voltada para o agendamento de consultas, para o atendimento médico e para o acesso aos exames, em uma assistência ao adoecimento. Os usuários apresentam dificuldades para o acesso e a acessibilidade às ações e aos serviços. Conclusões: o acesso aos serviços de saúde da Atenção Primária/Estratégia Saúde da Família continua desafiador, restritivo e burocrático, regulado pela demanda espontânea do usuário e pela agenda médica.

Minas Gerais é também um estado brasileiro que detém a representatividade do Teatro de Animação/Teatro de Formas Animadas – mais conhecido pelo público mineiro como Teatro de Bonecos, embora este seja um gênero e o primeiro, um sistema maior que abrange o teatro de objetos, de sombras, entre outras linguagens. Nesse contexto, em 1985 surge a Associação de Teatro de Bonecos de Minas Gerais (ATEBEMG), responsável por fomentar, ao longo dos anos, importantes diálogos e projetos de seus membros, dentre os quais pode-se afirmar a presença fundamental da bonequeira Conceição Rosière que contribui, desde sempre, para a longevidade e vigor da Associação, mobilizando os associados com seu entusiasmo por essa linguagem teatral. Esse reconhecimento é fruto da atuação constante de Rosière, inclusive na promoção de divulgação festivais e editais de cultura, de trocas por ela viabilizadas, das descobertas conquistadas em inúmeras viagens, da generosidade em compartilhar conhecimento por meio de depoimentos, livros e artigos em revistas, ou de recepcionar alunos e visitantes em sua casa. Como bonequeira, professora, pesquisadora e membro da ATEBEMG, e tendo em vista a conjuntura mundial causada pela Covid-19 e a temática “disparadora” e latente proposta pela Revista Móin-Móin – A atuação de mulheres no Teatro de Animação –, senti-me instigada a registrar parte do caminho percorrido por Conceição Rosière e, entrevistá-la na modalidade virtual e, assim, dividir com diferentes leitores a voz feminina traduzida na força de um coletivo.

Objective: To analyze the immediate effect of sensory and motor neuromuscular electrical stimulation, in oral and pharyngeal stages of swallowing, in individuals after oral and oropharyngeal cancer therapy. Methods: The study was conducted on 10 individuals (mean age of 58 years) submitted to oral and oropharyngeal cancer therapy. The individuals were submitted to videofluoroscopy, during which they were randomly asked to swallow 5 mL of liquid, honey, and pudding, in three conditions: without stimulation, with sensory neuromuscular electrical stimulation, and with motor neuromuscular electrical stimulation. The degree of swallowing dysfunction was scored (Dysphagia Outcome and Severity Scale), as well as the presence of food stasis (Eisenhuber scale), and measurement of the oral and pharyngeal transit time. The results were statistically analyzed by the Friedman test or analysis of variance for repeated measures. Results: The Dysphagia Outcome and Severity Scale revealed improvement for one individual with both sensory and motor stimuli, and worsening in two individuals, being one with motor and one with sensory stimulus. In the Eisenhuber scale, the neuromuscular electrical stimulation changed the presence of residues to variable extents. Concerning the oral and pharyngeal transit time, no difference was observed between the different stimulation levels for the consistencies tested (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Both sensory and motor neuromuscular electrical stimulations presented a varied immediate impact on the oral and pharyngeal stages of swallowing in individuals after oral and oropharyngeal cancer therapy. Thus, the results of the immediate effect suggest that the technique is not indicated, evidencing the need of caution in the use of neuromuscular electrical stimulation for the rehabilitation of dysphagia, after HNC treatment.

OBJETIVO: descrever a experiência vivenciada pela gerência de enfermagem durante a pandemia de COVID-19 em uma instituição de saúde não referenciada para a doença. MÉTODO: estudo descritivo, do tipo relato de experiência, que apresenta os desafios enfrentados e atividades desenvolvidas pela gerência de Enfermagem em uma instituição pública de saúde do estado do Ceará de atenção secundária, não referenciada para a COVID-19, no período de março a maio de 2020. Resultados: Foi relatado em duas categorias bases ao saber: Planejamento e organização do serviço; Desafios enfrentados nos processos de trabalho da equipe CONCLUSÃO: conclui-se que, mesmo se tratando de um hospital secundário não referenciado para a COVID-19, independente de estratégias pré-estabelecidas pela gerência de Enfermagem, houve dificuldades na adaptação dos profissionais ao período de pandemia e ocorreram situações que exigiram rapidez e preparo para intervenções.

Busca-se nesse texto descrever as principais ações com a Terapia Comunitária Integrativa, de 2017 a 2019, desde Cuiabá – MT, no centro-oeste brasileiro, até a cidade de Bragança, no norte português, apontando para a diversidade de grupos atendidos, bem como para a cultura e a faixa etária como elementos a serem considerados, para a efetividade da roda de terapia. Ademais, esse trabalho objetiva contribuir com a divulgação da TCI, apontando para possiblidades futuras de pesquisa ou servindo como fundo/base/dado, para a mesma.

The objective was to evaluate sowing density influence on hydroponic corn fodder bromatological composition, harvested in different ages raised on grass mix substrate. The experimental design used was completely randomized with six replications for each treatment, using 2.0 m² plots (1.0 x 2.0 m). The densities were distributed into factorial array (4x4), consisting in four sowing densities (1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 kg m-²) and four cutting ages (10, 15, 20 and 25 days). The dry matter content (DMC) and production (DMP) and crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), Fiber neutral detergent (FND) and ethereal extract (EE) were analyzed each cutting age. In terms of DMP (kg m-²), EE (%) and DMC (kg m-²), it is recommended to use the density 1.0 kg m-² with cutting age of 25 days. Regarding CP (%) the best result was at 15 days of cut and density 2.5 kg m-² and the values for FND (%) and ADF (%) were higher at 25 days at 2.0 kg density 2,0 kg m-². The choice of both best harvesting age and density will depend on what is desired of the nutritional forage (CP, EE, NDF, ADF, DMC and DMP) as well its destination, since very close values were found in all analyzes, regardless of density and age of harvest analyzed.

Brazil is privileged to have the most important natural resource in its territory, the water. But currently, the increased concentration of phosphorus (P) affects the water quality. It has two main routes to get into aquatic environmental: through the dump of untreated sewage and fertilizers runoff. The P excess may promote eutrophication, a process characterized by microalgae uncontrolled growth, affecting several parameters of freshwater. Due to the great differences at the Brazilian regions, the current Life Cycle Impact Assessment methodologies are not capable to evaluate properly the eutrophication impact in Brazil. The most viable method to obtain a more suitable model is regionalizing it by estimating the characterization factor (CF). Therefore this is the first study that presents a regionalized model to estimate Brazilian CF for freshwater eutrophication. The regionalization was based on the models proposed by Helmes et al. (2012) and Azevedo et al. (2013), which are considered the most complete and suitable models. Due to the lack of data it was possible to calculate the CF for Alto Iguaçu micro watershed and four more subwatersheds: Paraíba do Sul, Parnaíba, Litorânea do Ceará and Litorânea Pernambuco Alagoas. The processes assessment of advection, retention and water use provides valuable information of each region and also results in more realistic Fate Facto (FF), since Brazilian sanitation is completely uneven, and the sewage treatment must be modelled to not overestimated or sub estimated the FF. At Alto Iguaçu is the advection rate is the most relevant and its CF is 7.43 103. m3 .KgP-1 day. For that reason, the same amount of emitted phosphorus promotes a bigger eutrophication potential at Paraíba do Sul and Parnaíba than other basins. Phosphorus income rates estimate is possible to know the origin of its most significant input. Based on this information, financial resources can be better used. This was the first attempt to develop a Brazilian CF and some improvements need to be done. Firstly, new studies ought to concentrate to promote good quality of data, because the unavailability of data was one of the greatest difficulties of this study. Then the regionalized model should be improved modeling treatment of industrial sewage and, finally, CF needs to be calculated for all subwatershed. Keywords: Eutrophication. Characterization factor. Abstract Medicalization of common names of medicinal plants is a process that involves replacing popular native names by trademarked names of drugs, active principles or therapeutic indications used by modern biomedicine. In Brazil, this process seems to have been intensified in the early 2000s due to the increasing use of those names in ethnoscientific surveys in local communities. In this study, we aimed to trace the origins of that process. For this purpose, we reviewed data from the “grey literature” pre-1980, including 15 books, compendia, dictionaries, and guides of medicinal plants. Mercury and its lexical changes were the only medicalized names found in the literature before the 1980s. This is probably due to the ancient use of mercury in several medical systems through human history, including by Brazilian apothecaries since the seventeenth century. Moreover, Mercurochrome was the name of a Brazilian trademark of antiseptic that probably influenced the use of medicalized names of mercury in the past. The name “Mercury” and its “natural” epithet combinations, like “Mercúrio-vegetal” (Mercury-plant) and “Mercúrio-do-campo” (Field-mercury), could have been the original medicalized way of naming medicinal plants in Brazil.

O interesse pela realização do estudo parte da visibilidade que indivíduos não binários adquirem em diferentes espaços, inclusive em manifestações artísticas que convidam ao diálogo. Um exemplo é o evento “Mostra de Multilinguagens Corpos Visíveis: arte e diversidade”, que promoveu um debate público envolvendo a temática. A mesma comportou a exposição fotográfica “Estética do Invisível”, de onde selecionamos duas imagens, com o objetivo de interpretá-las, discutindo alguns sentidos atrelados às suas composições. Trata-se daquelas intituladas “Ensaio disfarce para o fim do mundo” e “Meu corpo criação”. O método é inspirado na antropologia da imagem. O mesmo exige que a interpretação supere o conteúdo das fotografias e considere aspectos ligados à sua produção e exibição. Os resultados apontam que ambas as imagens superam o discurso autoritário, representando indivíduos que recusam se submeter aos processos identitários vigentes. Elas expressam um modo de sofrimento, que se traduz em sintoma pela dissolução da unidade simbólica de pertencimento. Os elementos que as constituem evocam noções de divindade, poder, resistência e transformação. Além de subjetividades cambiantes, as fotografias iluminam o despontar de um novo paradigma que desafia convenções e acarreta mudanças em diferentes campos, principalmente aos que atuam diretamente sobre o corpo.

Corticosteroids are drugs widely used in veterinary neurology due to their recognized analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. However, their use in high doses and long terms may result in undesirable effects and disorders in other systems. This study describes the prevalence of dogs with neurological diseases referred to a veterinary neurology reference service with previous prescription of corticosteroids. For the retrospective study 284 medical records of dogs were evaluated in the period between August 2017 and April 2019. Of these, 194 (68%) patients already had medical care by another veterinary, and, 100 (52%) had previous prescription for the corticosteroid use. After the diagnosis, the dose was suspended in 28% of the cases, adjusted in 41% and maintained in 31%. Dogs with immunosuppressive doses prescription were the most affected, and the medication was adjusted or suspended in 71% and 21% of the cases, respectively. In conclusion, the therapy for neurological diseases is still strongly associated with the indiscriminate use of corticosteroids, without a dose correlation with the desired effect.

Doenças neuromusculares são incomuns na rotina clínica de cães e gatos e o seu diagnóstico é um desafio para o Médico Veterinário. Desta forma, este trabalho relata o diagnóstico clínico e terapêutico em uma cadela sem raça definida de quatro anos com histórico de claudicação e paresia intermitente, inicialmente em membros pélvicos evoluindo para membros torácicos, apresentando sinais clínicos de ataxia e tetraparesia sobretudo após exercício. Em virtude do histórico e sinais clínicos apresentados suspeitou-se de miastenia gravis adquirida, optando-se pelo diagnóstico terapêutico, por ser mais simples, rápido e acessível, utilizando o anticolinesterásico neostigmina. A paciente apresentou melhora significativa no quadro clínico após administração do referido anticolinesterásico por via intramuscular, retornando à atividade deambulatória normal após administração do fármaco por via intravenosa, sendo possível assim o diagnóstico da doença. Foi instituído tratamento utilizando o brometo de piridostigmina (2,5mg/Kg, duas vezes ao dia) associado ao corticosteroide em dose imunossupressora (0,5mg/Kg, duas vezes ao dia), ambos por via oral, por um período de seis meses, observando-se remissão completa dos sinais clínicos sem recidivas até o presente momento.

Abstract Contamination of water sources due to herbicide is of great concern. Clomazone is a pesticide with a high contamination potential which could possibility lixiviate to water streams. Changes caused by residual herbicide include flora modifications which are generally detrimental for some species. The lack of morphological studies performed in aquatic plants exposed to herbicide-contaminated environments has encouraged the development of our research. For the first time, we present a study that aimed to evaluate leaf injuries visible to the naked eye as well as microscopical effects which may be caused by clomazone on Pistia stratiotes. Pistia stratiotes was subjected to five concentrations of clomazone. Our analysis showed leaf injuries, especially after 15 days of clomazone application. Hormesis was observed when the water lettuce was subjected to the lower concentrations. Total leaf area showed increase following by reduction while injured until reaching the highest concentration. Although the concentrations of clomazone tested in our study are not lethal to water lettuce, such herbicide have still caused morphoanatomical damages on leaves which advocates for the use of P. stratiotes as a bioindicator of the presence of herbicides such as clomazone in water.

Na mostra A Mão do Povo Brasileiro, apresentada em 1969, Lina Bo Bardi exibe um nicho, entre vários, dedicado às bonecas de pano. Estas apresentam estética espontânea em sua feitura, o que lhes assegura especificidade. No Brasil, a boneca de pano resistiu culturalmente pelos diferentes desempenhos: ofício doméstico, afeto, valor cultural, programas de incentivo artesanal, fonte de renda familiar e de grupo, mercadoria de valor agregado, consumo conspícuo e bem simbólico. Busca-se, contudo, a compreensão da configuração política desse artefato poético da infância, como dispositivo de afeto pela práxis da artesã.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of different arrangements of eucalyptus plants on the morphoanatomical characteristics of leaf blades of 'Marandu' grass [(Urochloa brizantha (Syn. Brachiaria brizantha)] plants cultivated in agrosilvopastoral systems. The experiment was set in field conditions in a randomized complete block design with four replicates, in which the plots were represented by planting spacings of eucalyptus (12x2 and 12x4 m), and the subplots, by the distance between 'Marandu' grass and eucalyptus rows (6, 4, and 2 m). A control was added, composed by 'Marandu' grass cultivated in full sun. Variables of the leaf anatomy of 'Marandu' grass were evaluated for shading interference by trees. The distance of 'Marandu' grass plants from the eucalyptus lines interfered with the leaf blade anatomy of the forage, and the highest modifications occurred in linear measures and tissue proportions in the arrangements with the highest eucalyptus density. The shading interference of eucalyptus on the anatomical characteristics of leaf blades of 'Marandu' grass depends on the adopted arrangement. This occurs due to the grass adaptation to the low-light incidence, with a consequent reduction in its physiological activity and growth.

Modelos de Avaliação de Impacto do Ciclo de Vida Social (AICV-S) podem ser classificados em três tipos, dependendo da forma como o inventário é associado: (I) às partes interessadas; (II) por meio de cadeia de causa-efeito e, (III) com o uso de correlações entre variáveis macroeconômicas. Com o surgimento de modelos, o presente estudo tem como objetivo propor critérios para avaliá-los, baseados na UNEP e SETAC (2009), na JRC (2011) e em Ugaya et al. (2016). Após brainstorming entre os participantes do subgrupo de Avaliação de Impacto do Grupo de Trabalho de Avaliação Social do Ciclo de Vida (GTACV-S), três critérios foram selecionados: a abrangência do escopo (tipo, diferenciação espacial, inclusão de questões temporais, partes interessadas e subcategorias incluídas, robustez científica (reconhecimento pela comunidade internacional, apresentação de cadeia de causa e efeito, transparência e acessibilidade, disponibilidade de fator de caracterização (FC), possibilidade de regionalização e, FC nacional (existência e viabilidade de obtenção). Cada um dos subcritérios foi classificado (melhor, mediano e pior). Por exemplo, para atender o escopo das partes interessadas e subcategorias, o modelo deveria incluir 5 partes interessadas e 31 subcategorias para receber a melhor classificação). Os critérios foram aplicados parcialmente em 6 artigos e os resultados preliminares demonstram que é possível fazer a diferenciação entre os modelos. Como próximos passos, os critérios serão aplicados para outros artigos levantados na revisão sistemática, a partir da qual será recomendado um modelo para AICV-S. Evaluación del Impacto del Ciclo de Vida Social.Abstract Social Life Cycle Impact Assessment Models (S-LCIA) may be classified into three types, depending on the linkage of the inventory to impacts: (I) to stakeholders; (II) through cause-effect chains and, (III) through correlations between macroeconomic variables. With the emergence of models, the present study aims to propose criteria to evaluate them, based on UNEP and SETAC (2009), JRC (2011) and Ugaya et al. (2016). A brainstorming was performed involving the participants of the Impact Assessment subgroup of the Working Group on Social Life Cycle Assessment (GTACV-S) which resulted in three criteria: the scope (type of S-LCIA, spatial differentiation, inclusion of temporal aspects, stakeholders and subcategories included, scientific robustness (recognition by the international community, presentation of the cause-effect chain, transparency and accessibility), availability of characterization factor (CF), possibility of regionalization of the CF and the existence and feasibility of obtaining national CF. Each of the subcriteria was classified in three levels (best, medium and worst). For example, to meet the scope of stakeholders and subcategories, the model should include 5 stakeholders and 31 subcategories to receive the best rating. The criteria were applied partially in 6 papers and the preliminary results showed that it is possible to differentiate between the models. As a next step, the criteria will be applied to other. The aim of this study was to evaluate Deqi in patients under treatment with acupuncture and sham acupuncture. Forty (40) volunteers of all genders with temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) were randomized into two study groups: Acupuncture and Sham Acupuncture (non-penetrating device). The patients answered the Southampton Needle Sensation Questionnaire (SNSQ) at the initial and final sessions of acupuncture treatment. The questionnaire was composed of two parts: the first one, consisting of 17 Deqi descriptors and a Likert scale in order to evaluate the intensity of each sensation; and the second one, consisting of a visual analog scale (VAS) to evaluate how painful the acupuncture treatment was. At the initial session, LI4 was the most cited acupuncture point in both groups, being responsible for a ‘Slight Intensity’ needling sensation of electric shock in the acupuncture group at initial (10%) and final (15%) sessions. The most common related needling sensations at different acupuncture points was “Pricking” and “Sharp” in both groups. The acupuncture group showed higher VAS than the Sham Acupuncture either in the initial (3.87 × 2.43) and final (2.04 × 2.14) sessions. RESUMO: Os direitos reprodutivos foram demarcados, pelo movimento feminista, como parte dos direitos humanos das mulheres. O aborto é um dos direitos contemplados pela concepção de direitos reprodutivos, tendo como argumento central a autonomia das mulheres sobre o próprio corpo. O Serviço Social, que é uma profissão atrelada à garantia de direitos, tem se manifestado nesse debate, por meio do CFESS e enfrentando a reação de setores conservadores que buscam retroceder em direitos já conquistados. É sobre direitos reprodutivos, o aborto no Brasil e o Serviço Social que tratará este artigo.

Philodendron subgenus Meconostigma has been a well-circumscribed group since 1829. Members of this group are easily distinguished by diagnostic morphological characters as well as by a distinct ecology and geographical distribution. Based on molecular, morphological and cytological evidence, we propose the recognition of P. subg. Meconostigma as a distinct genus, Thaumatophyllum Schott. We also present the necessary new combinations, an emended key and some nomenclatural and taxonomic corrections regarding 21 names of Thaumatophyllum.

The particulate matter PM10 concentrations have been impacting hospital admissions due to respiratory diseases. The air pollution studies seek to understand how this pollutant affects the health system. Since prediction involves several variables, any disparity causes a disturbance in the overall system, increasing the difficulty of the models’ development. Due to the complex nonlinear behavior of the problem and their influencing factors, Artificial Neural Networks are attractive approaches for solving estimations problems. This paper explores two neural network architectures denoted unorganized machines: the echo state networks and the extreme learning machines. Beyond the standard forms, models variations are also proposed: the regularization parameter (RP) to increase the generalization capability, and the Volterra filter to explore nonlinear patterns of the hidden layers. To evaluate the proposed models’ performance for the hospital admissions estimation by respiratory diseases, three cities of São Paulo state, Brazil: Cubatão, Campinas and São Paulo, are investigated. Numerical results show the standard models’ superior performance for most scenarios. Nevertheless, considering divergent intensity in hospital admissions, the RP models present the best results in terms of data dispersion. Finally, an overall analysis highlights the models’ efficiency to assist the hospital admissions management during high air pollution episodes.

O artigo tem por objetivo mapear identidade(s) do professor de Matemática, constituídas nas redes discursivas dos sujeitos escolares contemporâneos de uma escola da rede privada de ensino da cidade de Novo Hamburgo (RS), quais sejam: coordenação pedagógica, professores de Matemática, professores de outras áreas do conhecimento e alunos de Ensino Fundamental e Médio. O material empírico analisado foi composto por entrevistas, aplicadas por meio de questionários semi-estruturados. As lentes teóricas utilizadas para a realização deste estudo tiveram inspiração na perspectiva pós-estruturalista, da qual se tomou as ferramentas analíticas identidade e discurso, advindas, respectivamente, das teorizações de Zygmunt Bauman e de Michel Foucault. Nas narrativas dos sujeitos escolares estudadas, delimitaram-se densidades de sentido, a partir das recorrências mapeadas nos questionários. Essas densidades apontaram para um professor de Matemática que possui identidades diferentes, cambiantes e múltiplas; mas, com recorrências, como: responsável, ético, interessado em aprender e empático, que domina os conteúdos, comprometido, que instiga a construção do conhecimento, criativo, motivado, que dá bons exemplos, coerente, educado, observador, que propõe atividades diversificadas, exigente, paciencioso, organizado, dedicado, que ama o que faz, que “explica bem” a matéria, que tira as dúvidas dos alunos, que corrige os exercícios e que é justo. Do material empírico e das densidades de sentido, emergiram as seguintes categorias para o professor de Matemática: professor múltiplo, inventivo, poderoso e milagroso.

ABSTRACT Introduction: In most clinical laboratories, coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) are classified through their biochemical characteristics using traditional and/or automated phenotypic methods. However, identification by phenotypic method is a great challenge despite the improvement in identification by automated systems in recent years. Objective: The main objective was to compare the identification of CNS between two automated methods: phenotypic (VITEK® 2 Compact, bioMérieux) and mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF VITEK® MS, bioMérieux). Materials and method: 133 CNS isolates from whole blood samples from September 2015 to May 2016 were analyzed. Results: All the 133 isolates were identified by VITEK® 2 Compact as CNS, whereas VITEK MS did not identify seven, and there was uncertainty among three species in one isolate. The two devices had a concordance of 92.8% (117/126) of which: 56 Staphylococcus epidermidis, 34 Staphylococcus hominis ssp. hominis, 15 Staphylococcus haemolyticus, 10 Staphylococcus capitis, one Staphylococcus cohnii ssp. urealyticus and one Staphylococcus sciuri. There was disagreement in identification of S. lugdunensis and S. aureus. Conclusion: Through the analysis between the two devices and based on scientific articles comparing the methods involved in the study, it was possible to observe the great biochemical similarity among the coagulase-negative staphylococci species, this being the main limitation of the phenotypic method. The VITEK MS equipment showed high discrimination between species when compared to the gold standard method, besides being rapid and easy to use.

Micro-morphological changes precede the appearance of visible damage after herbicide application and are essential in providing data for the safe recommendation in chemical management of weeds. Therefore, the aim of this research was to verify the anatomical changes of leaf tissue caused by application of herbicides in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz. cv. IAC-12). A greenhouse experiment was conducted with post-emergence herbicides treatments as follows: nicossulfuron (60 g a.i ha-1), fluazifop (250 g a.i ha-1), fomesafem (250 g a.i ha-1), metribuzin (480 g a.i ha-1), oxyfluorfen (720 g a.i ha-1) and the mixture fluazifop + fomesafen (200 + 250 g a.i ha-1), and an untreated control, respectively. The results obtained have allowed to affirm the cassava plants (cultivar IAC-12), exhibited changes in leaf anatomy in response to herbicide application even on cassava leaves without no visual toxicity symptoms. The products caused alterations both in tissue thickness as in tissue proportion in the leaf blade. For the fluazifop, a eudicotyledonous selective herbicide, changes were observed in tissue thickness and proportion of leaf blade, even without any visual toxicity detected. Cassava plants (IAC-12), showed structural changes in leaf anatomy in response to application of herbicides. The leaf anatomy of cassava cv. IAC-12, can be used to indicate the herbicide effect on cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz.cv. IAC-12) plants.

Azospirillum brasilense plays an important role in biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) in grasses. However, further studies are needed to define how much mineral N can be applied while simultaneously maintaining BNF contribution and maximizing crop yield and to determine the impact of these practices on soil fertility. Thus, we aimed to investigate the effect of inoculation with A. brasilense, in conjunction with varying N doses and sources in a Cerrado soil, on soil chemical attributes after two years of irrigated wheat production. The experiment was initiated in Selvíria - MS under no-tillage production in an Oxisol in 2014 and 2015. The experimental design was a randomized block design with four replications, and treatments were arranged in a 2 x 5 x 2 factorial arrangement as follows: two N sources (urea and Super N - urea with inhibitor of the enzyme urease NBPT (N - (n-butyl thiophosphoric triamide))), five N rates (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg ha-1), and with or without seed inoculation with A. brasilense. The increase in N rates did not influence the chemical soil attributes. Super N acidified the soil more compared to urea. A. brasilense inoculation reduced the effect of soil acidification in intensive irrigated wheat cultivation; however, the base extraction was higher, resulting in a lower soil CEC after cultivation with inoculation. Therefore, the cultivation of wheat inoculated with A. brasilense was not harmful to soil fertility because it did not reduce the base saturation and organic matter content (P, K, Ca, Mg, and S).
