Several IoT platforms have been proposed to support and facilitate the development of IoT applications. Unfortunately, using an IoT platform makes the developed application strongly dependent on the specific platform's functionalities. This reduces the portability of the IoT application that may require significant adaptations, or a complete re-design, for being migrated towards other platforms. To mitigate the lack of IoT application portability, we present X-IoT (read as cross-IoT), a model-driven approach supporting the development of cross-platform IoT applications. X-IoT is based on a Domain-Specific Modelling Language (DSML) and its related notation, whose development has been guided by a deep analysis of IoT application characteristics. Tool support is provided through the ADOxx platform, which allows using the DSML to model platform-independent IoT applications, that can be successively refined and deployed on selected IoT platforms. In 2012, the American Pharmacists Association Foundation (APhAF) recognized 17 women and three organizations for their work as pioneers and leaders among female pharmacists. In 2022, the APhAF selected ten additional leaders among contemporary women in American pharmacy to be honored in the Women in Pharmacy Exhibit and Conference Room on the top floor of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) headquarters building in Washington, D.C. These ten leaders gathered at a symposium in their honor in October 2022 at APhA headquarters. This paper summarizes the accomplishments of the ten contemporary women and documents their comments at the symposium, where they discussed their perspectives on practice innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, philanthropy, community service, and mentorship. Elderly individuals may experience hearing difficulties for various reasons. The most common of these is age-related hearing loss called presbycusis. Due to these changes in auditory sensitivity, it is difficult to hear and understand speech at certain frequencies. Due to the acoustic design based on the auditory sensitivity of the younger ear, elderly listeners may have hearing difficulties, especially in conference rooms without a sound system. The objective of this research is to provide acoustic comfort conditions in conference halls that can be suitable for all listeners. In this context, new optimum reverberation times were determined for three different age groups to eliminate the negative effects of auditory sensitivity distinctions on speech intelligibility. The obtained results were compared to the reference values determined for the objective room acoustics parameters in various standards (ISO, DIN, JIS, etc.) for young and elderly listeners. A 3000 m3 (volume) conference hall was chosen as an example to support the research with a listening test and a survey. Following the completion of the listening test studies for a receiver point located approximately in the center of the hall, the data were analyzed in a statistical program. Based on these evaluations, it seems evident that the subjective and objective data overlap and that the intelligibility values can be improved by applying the new reverberation times determined by the study's method to the halls. Background: The establishment of new anatomy facilities needs to accommodate a combination of modern teaching modalities that best align with evidence-based best teaching practices. This article describes the process in which our state-of-the-art anatomy laboratories were designed and implemented, and how these facilities support aspects of modern anatomy education. Methods: A list of best practices for anatomy education in a modern medical curriculum was summarized from the literature. To assess student satisfaction, a survey related to student perception of the anatomy facilities (5-point Likert scale) was conducted. Results: Our educational modalities include a broad range of teaching approaches. The Instructional Studio houses prosected and plastinated specimens, and cadaveric dissections are performed. Each of our three Dry Laboratories allow for active learning and interaction between small student groups. The Webinar Room acts as a conference room for departmental and online meetings, discussions with students, and dialogues with affiliated hospitals via the internet. The Imaging Center is equipped with a Sectra® medical educational platform, CAE Vimedix® Virtual Medical Imaging Ultrasound Training System, and Philipps Lumify® Ultrasound devices to train students to conduct and interpret sonographic images. Moreover, the Complete Anatomy® program is made available to all our students. Conclusion: The layout of our newly created Anatomy Facilities allows for all aspects of modern medical education mentioned in the literature. These educational modalities and teaching approaches are highly appreciated by our faculty and students. Given the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation around the world, we may have to face a long-term battle with coronavirus. It is necessary to prepare and stay resilient with some other techniques to improve air quality in buildings, especially in clinics and hospitals. In this paper, we have developed Ultraviolet-C (UVC) light-emitting diode (LED) modules which can be implemented in air ducts in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system for airborne disinfection. An LED module is designed with LED panels as the basic unit so that it is easy to scale up to accommodate for air ducts with different sizes. Both experiments and simulations are carried out to study its disinfection performance. The results show that more than 76% and 85% of the pathogen can be inactivated within 60 and 90 min, respectively, in a meeting room with a volume of 107 m3 by using one LED module. Simulations for two LED modules show that the disinfection efficacy is more than two times compared to that of one LED module. In addition to the pathogen used in the experiments, the disinfection performance of the LED module for inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 virus based on the literature is investigated numerically. It shows that more than 99.70% of pathogens receive UV dose larger than 4.47 J/m2, leading to an almost 89.10% disinfection rate for SARS-CoV-2 virus within one hour using the two LED modules in the same meeting room. The relationship between corporate identity and interior design of institutional spaces is relatively a recent research field for Turkish debates. Turkish companies have underestimated the significance of corporate identity design. The architects and designers of corporate spaces also ignored its indispensability due to the diversity of design constraints restricted by corporate identity regulations. This paper aims to understand this mutual yet polemical relationship of designers with limitations and establish a set of guidelines for better cooperation by searching for the positive influences of corporate identity restrictions on office design through case studies. This paper analyzes the interior spaces of two rival companies in Turkey, designed by Habif architecture, and uncovers the design approaches behind creating office environments in line with corporate identity restrictions. Through an analytical matrix that aids in decoding the codes of corporate identity represented by logo design, character/concept, corporate colors, and shapes, this study compares and contrasts the reception areas and social spaces, such as gathering corners, meeting rooms, cafes, in terms of interior design, material, furniture, and lighting selections; and uncovers the role of creativity in solving design problems limited by corporate identity restrictions.
