Diante da atual necessidade de reformulação do currículo mínimo do curso de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da UEL em função de sua adaptação às mudanças tecnológicas ocorridas no mercado de trabalho, neste artigo apresentam-se alternativas metodológicas de ensino que viabilizam a introdução de recursos computacionais para uma das disciplinas ofertadas ao curso de Arquitetura “Desenho Geométrico e Geometria Descritiva". Este artigo foi desenvolvido seguindo-se as etapas da Metodologia da Problematização de Charlez Maguerez: observação da realidade e definição de um problema de estudo, pontos chaves, teorização, hipóteses de solução e aplicação à realidade. Na observação da realidade são discutidas as necessidades de implementação do curso com atuais recursos tecnológicos. A seguir definimos como problema a ser estudado a procura de alternativas metodológicas que possibilitem a introdução destes recursos nesta disciplina. Nos pontos chaves delineamos o caminho da solução e na teorização analisamos os dados que coletamos com alunos, funcionários e professores da UEL, assim como os da literatura pertinente, relacionando-os com o problema. Finalmente, levantamos as hipóteses de solução através de uma proposta de ensino para a disciplina e demonstramos como poderá ser viabilizada, o que nos propomos.

The seed oil of Annona salzmannii A. DC. was analyzed by GC-MS and 1H qNMR, revealing a mixture of unsaturated (80.5%) and saturated (18.7%) fatty acids. Linoleic (45.3%) and oleic (33.5%) acid were the major unsaturated fatty acids identified, while palmitic acid (14.3%) was the major saturated fatty acid. The larvicidal effects of A. salzmannii seed oil were evaluated against third-instar larvae of Aedes aegypti (Linn.). The oil exhibited moderate larvicidal activity, with a LC50 of 569.77 ppm (95% CI = 408.11 to 825.88 ppm). However, when the cytotoxic effects of the oil were evaluated, no expressive antiproliferative effects were observed in tumor cell lines B16-F10 (mouse melanoma), HepG2 (human hepatocellular carcinoma), K562 (human chronic myelocytic leukemia), HL-60 (human promyelocytic leukemia), and non-tumor cell line PBMC (peripheral blood mononuclear cells), with IC50 values > 50 μg·mL-1. This is the first study to evaluate the chemical composition, larvicidal and cytotoxic activity of A. salzmannii seed oil.

We propose a variational quantum algorithm to study the real-time dynamics of quantum systems as a ground-state problem. The method is based on the original proposal of Feynman and Kitaev to encode time into a register of auxiliary qubits. We prepare the Feynman-Kitaev Hamiltonian acting on the composed system as a qubit operator and find an approximate ground state using the variational quantum eigensolver. We apply the algorithm to the study of the dynamics of a transverse-field Ising chain with an increasing number of spins and time steps, proving a favorable scaling in terms of the number of two-qubit gates. Through numerical experiments, we investigate its robustness against noise, showing that the method can be used to evaluate dynamical properties of quantum systems and detect the presence of dynamical quantum phase transitions by measuring Loschmidt echoes.

Focusing on the problem of bureaucracy as a striking example of the ‘necessary stupidity’ that real-life forces us to tolerate, the philosophical meaning of Musil’s «intelligent stupidity» will be discussed. To a closer confrontation with the text, and with passages from (italic) Man Without Qualities (/italic) that are particularly relevant to the theme of the relationship between stupidity and bureaucracy, a number of reflections will be anteposed in order to highlight how, by making the concepts of liberalism and bureaucracy react to each other, it is possible to sketch a first outline of that aporetic of stupidity that seems to characterise so substantially the behaviour of modern man.

As part of the Synergetic Utilisation of CO2$_2$ storage Coupled with geothermal EnErgy Deployment project, investigating CO2$_2$ reinjection with different seismic methods, both passive and active seismic surveys have been conducted at the geothermal power plant at Hellisheiði, Iceland. During the 2021 survey, two geophone lines recorded noise for a week. We process the passive‐source data with seismic interferometry to image the subsurface structure around the CarbFix2 reinjection reservoir. To improve image quality, we perform an illumination analysis to select only noise panels dominated by body‐wave energy. The results show that most noise panels are dominated by air‐wave energy arriving from the direction of the power plant. We use panels with a near‐vertical incidence to create a zero‐offset image and a larger selection of body‐wave‐dominated panels to create virtual common‐shot gathers. We process the gathers with a simple reflection seismology processing workflow to obtain stacked images. The zero‐offset images show a relatively lower signal‐to‐noise ratio and only horizontal reflectors. The stacked images show slightly dipping reflectors and possibly lateral amplitude variations around the expected injection region. This could indicate a region of interest for future research into the reinjection reservoir. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cardiovascular disease shows, or may even be caused by, changes in metabolism. Hyperpolarized magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging is a technique that could assess the role of different aspects of metabolism in heart disease, allowing real-time metabolic flux assessment in vivo. In this review, we introduce the main hyperpolarization techniques. Then, we summarize the use of dedicated radiofrequency 13C coils, and report a state of the art of 13C data acquisition. Finally, this review provides an overview of the pre-clinical and clinical studies on cardiac metabolism in the healthy and diseased heart. We furthermore show what advances have been made to translate this technique into the clinic in the near future and what technical challenges still remain, such as exploring other metabolic substrates. Negative T waves in the inferior leads in an asymptomatic 17-year-old female patient prompted a diagnostic evaluation disclosing the presence of multiple cardiac glomangiomas. The combination of different imaging modalities (echocardiography, magnetic resonance, and positron emission tomography/computed tomography) and myocardial biopsy was crucial to establishing the correct diagnosis. Some metals belonging to groups IV and V show a high permeability to hydrogen and have been studied as possible alternatives to palladium in membranes for hydrogen purification/separation in order to increase their sustainability and decrease their costs. However, to date, very few alloys among those metals have been investigated, and no membrane studies based on 4–5 element alloys with low or zero Pd content and quasi-amorphous structure have been reported so far. In this work, new membranes based on ZrVTi- and ZrVTiPd alloys were tested for the first time for this application. The unprecedented deposition of micrometric-based multilayers was performed via high-power impulse magnetron sputtering onto porous alumina substrates. Dense Pd/ZrxVyTizPdw/Pd multilayers were obtained. The composition of the alloys, morphology and structure, hydrogen permeance, selectivity, and resistance to embrittlement were tested and analyzed depending on the deposition conditions, and the membrane with the enhanced performance was tuned. The environmental impact of these membranes was also investigated to ascertain the sustainability of these alloys relative to more common Pd77Ag23 and V93Pd7 thin-film membranes using a life cycle assessment analysis. The results showed that the partial substitution of Pd can efficiently lead to a decrease in the environmental impacts of the membranes.

Estudos sistêmicos que possibilitem a caracterização ambiental de sub-bacias hidrográficas pilotos são essenciais para direcionar sua gestão, sendo fundamentais para um adequado planejamento ambiental. A sub-bacia José Pereira possui uma área aproximada de 40 km² e se insere no município de Itajubá, sul do Estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Esta área foi escolhida como sub-bacia piloto para este estudo, pois possui um importante remanescente florestal, a Reserva Biológica Serra dos Toledos, assim como parte da área urbana do município em processo de expansão, além de uma área rural com uso de práticas agropecuárias inadequadas e intensivas. Desta forma, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo estudar as catenas de solos desta sub-bacia, para servir como importante instrumento de planejamento desta unidade. Oito catenas de solos distribuídas em três compartimentos topomorfológicos foram estudadas. De acordo com o mapa de solos gerado, os Cambissolos Háplicos ocupam 26% da sub-bacia, estando sob relevo montanhoso; os Latossolos Vermelho e Vermelho Amarelo, 6% da área, predominando no relevo plano a ondulado; os Gleissolos Háplicos, com 7% da área, estando nas baixadas, em relevo plano e nos sopés das encostas; e as classes dos Argissolos Vermelho e Vermelho Amarelo foram as predominantes, distribuídas por 56% da sub-bacia, ocupando relevo ondulado e forte ondulado. Com base nos resultados conjuntos obtidos propôs-se um modelo de evolução local dos solos da sub-bacia: os solos mais jovens, Cambissolo Háplico e Gleissolo Háplico, ocupam as posições de topo convexo e a planície de inundação, respectivamente. Nos terços superior e inferior da encosta ocoree o predomínio de Argissolo Vermelho, o qual está relacionado à renovação constante de material do solo, impedindo que o estágio latossólico seja atingido. Além disso, parte significativa desses Argissolos apresenta horizonte Bw abaixo do horizonte Bt sob relevo acidentado. Ainda, no terço inferior da paisagem, pode-se notar a presença de Latossolos, até mesmo em áreas com declividade acentuada.
