Abstract

The article presents a study on the characterization of carboxylate ligands interaction of Manganese (Mn) ion clusters in the oxygen-evolving complex (OEC) through electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) spectroscopy. Q-band Mims ENDOR spectrum of 13C is presented on the carboxylate position of an acetate moiety to coordinate the OEC in Photosystem (PS) II. The 13C ENDOR data show that the C-terminal carboxylate of D1-Ala344 is directly bound to Mn in the PS II OEC.
