Abstract: We examined the association between the quality of maternal representations of attachment evaluated by the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) and mother– infant styles of regulating attention and emotion during free play with objects in 41 mother–infant dyads when infants were nine months old. The secure mother dyads showed a greater duration of engagement matches, with more positive matches, and a greater capacity to move from non-matched to matched states. Secure mother dyads demonstrated greater involvement in play with objects than insecure mother dyads. Insecure mother dyads showed a greater duration of mismatches and spent more time in negative matches. Correlations between maternal AAI scores and the variables studied also showed that the maternal Passivity and Unresolved scales were associated with less adequate dyadic attention and emotion regulation, while the maternal Coherence scale was associated with more adequate dyadic attention and emotion regulation.

152. Sustentabilidad del aprovechamiento de energía solar con colectores de placa plana y de tubos evacuados

Abstract: La generación y uso de los recursos energéticos producen efectos ambientales, de modo que al evaluar la aplicación de la energía solar es necesario considerar el ciclo completo de los aprovechamientos mediante el Análisis del Ciclo de Vida. En este trabajo se calculan indicadores de sustentabilidad para el calentamiento solar de agua, con electricidad como energía auxiliar. La energía térmica generada y las emisiones evitadas se determinan descontando sobre los valores brutos, los requerimientos específicos del sistema de captación de la radiación. Los valores totales máximos de la energía térmica generada y de la mitigación de emisiones se consiguen con los colectores planos, pero la generación y mitigación por año y por metro cuadrado de captación, son mayores cuando se usa el colector de tubos evacuados. La instalación con colectores planos tiene más elevados periodos de amortización energética y ambiental, pero todos los valores obtenidos son siempre muy bajos., The generation and use of energy resources produce environmental effects, so that in the evaluation of the application of solar energy is necessary to consider the complete cycle of the exploitation through the Life Cycle Analysis. In this work are calculated sustainability indicators for solar installations of water heating, with electricity as auxiliary energy. Thermal energy generated and avoided emissions are determined by discounting on gross values of energy consumption and emissions due to the specific requirements for the collection of solar radiation. The maximums total values of the thermal energy generated and the mitigation of emissions are achieved with flat plate collectors, but the generation and mitigation per year and per square meter of capture are higher when the collector of evacuated tubes is used. Abstract: With the aim of studying the relationship between methods of emotion regulation and quality of attachment we examined 39 infants with different patterns of attachment, of whom 20 were classified as secure (B), 12 as avoidant (A) and 7 as resistant (C), assessing the regulatory strategies adopted by them during the Strange Situation at 13 months. Secure infants used strategies of positive social engagement more than insecure avoidant infants, while resistant infants displayed greater negative social engagement and less object orientation than the other two groups. Avoidant infants adopted positive and negative hetero-regulatory strategies less than the other groups, also differing from resistant infants in their greater use of object regulatory strategies. There were no significant differences as regards self-comforting regulation. Thus, the findings showed how the most significant differences to emerge between the groups concerned hetero-regulatory strategies, developed by the infant in interaction with attachment figures, and regulatory strategies oriented towards objects. Further analysis showed how the use by part of each attachment group of the emotion regulation strategies varies, differentiating the episodes of the SSP according to their level of stress.

Abstract: This pilot study examined the effectiveness of an attachment-based intervention program, PRERAYMI, based on video technique, psychological counseling and developmental guidance in improving the style of interaction and emotion regulation of adolescent mothers and their infants after 3 and 6 months of intervention. Analyses revealed that adolescent mothers who participated in the intervention (vs. control group adolescent mothers) increased their Sensitivity and reduced their Controlling style after both 3 and 6 months of treatment. Infants who participated in the intervention (vs. control group infants) increased their Cooperative style and reduced their Passive style from 3 to 9 months. Moreover, the intervention group dyads (vs. control group dyads) increased the amount of time spent in affective positive coordination states (matches), decreased the amount of time spent in affective mismatches, and had a greater ability to repair mismatches from 3 to 9 months. Furthermore, the intervention group dyads (vs. control group dyads) increased the amount of time spent in reciprocal involvement in play with objects from 3 to 9 months. The quality of maternal attachment did not affect the intervention effect.

Abstract: This work describes the use of solar radiation to destroy an organic pollutant in aqueous solution, using the photo-Fenton reaction. Formic acid was chosen as the model substrate. A kinetic model that accounts for the dark (Fenton) and the light activated (photo-Fenton) reaction rates in a single mathematical expression has been used. Furthermore, to take into account the irradiated and the nonirradiated liquid volumes, a rigorous mass balance for each one of the reactant species has been applied. Under the adopted operating conditions, an organic pollutant conversion up to 81% was achieved after 1 h of operation. Predictions of the theoretical model were compared with experimental results and good agreement for formic acid and hydrogen peroxide concentration evolutions was obtained. Deviations between model predictions and experimental data were always smaller than 9%. Theoretical and experimental results of the pollutant conversion showed that solar irradiation improves the effectiveness of the Fenton system significantly; a pollutant conversion 175% greater than that obtained with the dark system alone was observed.

Abstract: The unstable carotid plaque for indication and timing of surgical or endovascular correction Carotid Endarterectomy surgical procedure (CEA) has demonstrated through randomized trials its efficacy and superiority over best medical treatment in the prevention of stroke, in haemodynamic carotid stenoses (>70%) in symptomatic patients, and also in asymptomatics, provided a surgical complication rate below 3%. Correct indication to CEA or carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS) and timing are essential to prevent cerebral ischemia. Previous neurologic symptoms are best predictors of stroke, but unstable plaque is directly involved in the pathogenesis of embolic stroke, as compared to percentage of stenosis. Inflammatory biomarkers of an active atherosclerotic process and new functional diagnostic procedures, still under assessment, add to Echodoppler, Angio TC, RM means to better define morpho-functional characters of the carotid plaque at risk, whose treatment cannot be delayed.

Cette forme du SEG, rare, demontre l’utilite d’une parfaite connaissance de son expression clinique par l’urgentiste et d’une prise en charge preventive des la phase pre-hospitaliere.

Abstract: The photodegradation of a specific organic pollutant in aqueous solution using the photo-Fenton system has been modeled and experimentally verified. Kinetic and reactor models accounting for the decomposition rates of formic acid (the model compound) and hydrogen peroxide were developed. The experimental work was performed in a flat-plate, well-stirred reactor placed inside a batch recycling system having a high-flow-rate recirculating pump and a storage tank. The reactor was irradiated from both sides with two tubular lamps placed at the focal axis of two cylindrical reflectors of a parabolic cross section. Abstract: 36 mother/infant dyads at nine months, 20 of which had mothers with secure attachment models and 16 with insecure attachment models, examined using the Adult Attachment Interview, were video-recorded and coded with the Infant and Caregiver Engagement Phase (ICEP) coding system (Weinberg & Tronick, 1999) to which some changes were made, to evaluate their emotional regulation. The 36 mothers (mean age= 34,05 sd=3,41), were Italian, and their socio-economic level was medium. The infants, 12 girls and 24 boys, (mean age=9,31 sd=0,82) were full term and did not present any pathologies at birth. The aim of the study was to evaluate the relationship between the security of maternal attachment and the styles of mutual regulation engaged in by the dyads when the infant is nine months old. Matching is defined as the extent to which mothers and infants share joint negative, neutral, or positive states at the same moment in time; mismatching is defined as any non-shared dyadic state in which the two partners are not in the same state of engagement (Tronick et al., 2005). Significant differences emerged between the two groups in relation to coordinated and miscoordinated affective states. The secure mother dyads had a greater overall duration of affective matches with more positive matches than insecure mother dyads. The insecure mother dyads had a greater overall duration of affective mismatches than secure mother dyads; furthermore they spent more time in negative matches than the former, who almost never engaged negatively in their interaction. In this perspective the secure mother dyads appeared more able to share emotions, particularly positive emotions than insecure mother dyads. The latter appeared less able to regulate the negative emotions of their infants (more negative matches). In relation to the different types of mismatches the insecure mothers displayed proportionally more positive states when the infant displayed negative states and more negative states when the infant was neutral. In brief, this study highlights the existence of significant differences in the infant/mother dyads regulation modalities in relation to the different quality of the attachment model of the mothers, showing itself in the insecure mother dyads’ greater difficulty in mutual regulation and in the regulation of negative emotions.

173. Photonic and Quantum Efficiencies for the Homogeneus Photo-Fenton Degradation of a Herbicide 2,4-D Using Different Iron Complexes

Abstract: BACKGROUND: An experimental study of the homogeneous photo-Fenton degradation of herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is presented.Different sources of iron in water solution were studied: sulphate, oxalate and citrate complexes. The performances of these complexes were evaluated by means of two parameters: (i) the photonic efficiencies of degradation and mineralization; and (ii) the quantum efficiencies of degradation and mineralization. Moreover, in order to quantify the consumption of the oxidizing agent, two parameters were also defined and evaluated: the initial specific consumption of the hydrogen peroxide and the minimum hydrogen peroxide consumption for complete mineralization. RESULTS: For pH=5 and T =35ºC, the degradation photonic efficiency using ferric sulphate was 6 times lower than that obtained with the ferric citrate.On the contrary, at pH=5, quantum efficiencies of mineralization close to 50% for citrate and oxalate complexes were attained. For pH=5 and 25 or 35ºC, the initial specific consumption of hydrogen peroxide for the ferric sulphate was 5 times higher than those of the remaining complexes. However, considering all the operating conditions, the minimum hydrogen peroxide consumption for completemineralization using the oxalate complex was always lower than or at most similar to those observed in the other two complexes. CONCLUSION: Using different sources of iron, the influence of pH and temperature on the pollutant degradation and mineralization process was determined. For pH=5 and both temperatures, the ferric sulphate system required more than twice the time to achieve complete degradation of the herbicide. Abstract: Changes of crystallinity and unit cell parameters for a low-density polyethylene as a consequence of cross-linking by dicumyl peroxide and by electron beam irradiations are compared. Polyethylene samples cross-linked by irradiation in the solid state present variations essentially only of the a unit cell parameter while those cross-linked in the melt state present similar variations of both a and b unit cell parameters. A strict analogy with unit cell variations observed for ethene random copolymers with propene and with bulkier comonomers, respectively, is shown. This suggests inclusion of cross-links for solid-state cross-linked samples, which would lead to a gradual transformation from an orthorhombic to a pseudohexagonal phase, and exclusion of cross-links for melt state cross-linked samples, which would generate tensions at the orthorhombic crystallite interphases.

Abstract: International audience; The main goal of this study was to determine the reproducibility of the reading of wrist trauma case radiographs using three different media: laser film, a picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) workstation, and paper with an optimized layout. The study was conducted retrospectively in 200 consecutive patients consulting at the emergency department for wrist trauma and who underwent wrist X-ray investigation using a computed radiography system. There were 82 men and 118 women. The mean age was 48.3 years (16–95 years). Our institutional review board does not require patient approval or informed consent for retrospective review of case records. The readings were made by two independent readers who analyzed the 200 patient radiographs consecutively in one session for each type of media: paper, laser film, and on a PACS dual-screen workstation. The inter-reader agreements were substantial or almost perfect, with kappa values of 0.83 (0.76–0.90) for the PACS, 0.83 (0.76–0.90) for film, and 0.80 (0.72–0.87) for paper. The inter-technique agreement was almost perfect in all cases. There is a high interobserver agreement between PACS, laser film, and paper readings for wrist trauma cases. With a layout of one radiograph on each sheet, paper could replace laser films to communicate the results of wrist radiographs in trauma cases for outpatients.

Abstract: Genetic risk factors seem to play a role in sporadic Parkinson's disease (PD), maybe triggering oxidative stress and excitotoxicity within substantia nigra. However, genetic factors act at systemic level: reduced activity of mitochondrial enzymes and decreased glutamate uptake have been shown in platelets from PD patients. In this study we investigated glutamate uptake in platelets from 38 sporadic PD patients, 13 patients with parkinsonian syndromes and 28 controls and assessed polymorphisms of alpha -synuclein and ApoE genes. A 48% reduction of glutamate uptake (p<0.0001) was observed in PD patients which, with respect to control groups, correlated with the disease severity (r = -0.44, p < 0.05). Genetic studies of this population did not show differences between PD and controls, nor correlations with platelet glutamate uptake

Abstract: The utilization of the ultraviolet (UV) portion of the solar spectrum to drive the chemical destruction of organic pollutants in contaminated air and wastewaters has gained an increasing interest in the last two decades. A nonconcentrating, flat-plate solar photoreactor has been modeled and experimentally verified. The mathematical model considers that the reactor glass window receives direct and diffuse (isotropic) solar radiation. The model was solved numerically and predictions were compared with photodecomposition rate data, employing the uranyl oxalate actinometer. The reaction was conducted in an isothermal, perfectly mixed reactor placed inside a batch recycling system. The experimental values were compared with theoretical predictions and good agreement was obtained, the maximum deviation being 12%. The effect of the actinometer concentration and of the solar zenith angles (for horizontal and tilted reactors) on the actinometer decomposition rate was investigated. Results indicated that the uranyl oxalate reaction rate increases when (1) the initial actinometer concentration increases at almost constant solar zenith angle and (2) the zenith angle decreases at the same initial actinometer concentration.

Abstract: Measurements and predictions of solar radiation during a period of 10 years on horizontal surfaces at Santa Fe (31° 39′ S, 60° 43′ W), Argentina, reported as average daily global radiation for each month, are presented. Data are compared to those obtained with a previously published and verified model for computing solar radiation on horizontal planes at the earth's surface for cloudless sky days. Measurements show an important reduction of global radiation with respect to the cloudless sky model predictions for all months of the year. Conversely, averaged daily diffuse solar radiation calculated with Page's formula shows a small increment with respect to the predicted diffuse solar radiation for cloudless sky conditions. When direct solar radiation data, calculated from global and diffuse solar radiation values, are compared to theoretical prediction, a significant decrease is observed. This trend is similar to that obtained for global solar radiation.

Abstract: 13C NMR analysis of poly(propylene) fractions of different tacticity, obtained using a catalyst system of type MgCl 2 /TiCl 4 /diisobutyl phthalate - AlEt 3 - diether, has provided further evidence that the active species in this system are similar to those in which the ether is used as internal rather than external donor. Chain-end analysis of relatively low molecular weight polymer fractions indicated, for polymers of similar molecular weight, similar proportions of butyl-terminated chain-ends, indicative of chain transfer with hydrogen following regioirregular (2,1-) insertion. The relatively high hydrogen response of diether-containing catalyst systems can therefore be largely ascribed to this phenomenon, irrespective of whether the diether is used as internal or external donor. At relatively low hydrogen concentrations, chain transfer to hydrogen takes place predominantly after the occasional secondary insertion, while the additional presence of vinylidene chain-ends in certain xylene-soluble fractions indicates that chain transfer via β-H transfer takes place mainly after primary insertion.

Abstract: A proposal for modelling photo-Fenton reactors for water pollution remediation is presented. Reactor models, based on chemical reaction engineering principles and radiative energy transport fundamentals in homogeneous systems, are derived at both laboratory and solar pilot-plant scales. The proposed methodology is illustrated by presenting an example on the modelling and scaling-up of a solar reactor for degradation of a model pollutant in aqueous solution: the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. Firstly, a kinetic model derived from a reaction sequence is proposed and its kinetic parameters estimated, using an isothermal, well-stirred tank laboratory photoreactor. Afterwards, the kinetic model is employed to predict the reacting species concentrations during the photo-Fenton degradation in a pilot-plant, nonisothermal solar reactor designed to capture the UV/Visible/IR solar radiation. Abstract: Three diethers, 2,2-diisobutyl-1,3-dimethoxypropane, 2,2-dicyclopentyl-1,3-dimethoxypropane, and 2-ethyl-2-butyl-1,3-dimethoxypropane, differing in the bulkiness of the alkyl substituents in position 2, have been used as internal donors in MgCl2−TiCl4−diether/AlR3 catalysts for the polymerization of propylene. The performance of the three diether-based catalysts is compared with that of a “traditional” MgCl2-supported catalyst based on the phthalate/silane donor pair and with that of a “donor-free” catalyst by coupling the temperature rising elution fractionation (TREF) analysis with a study of the stereoregularity of the first monomeric unit insertion. Abstract: A new method for the preparation of functionalized polyolefins is presented. The method consists of two steps: (i) copolymerization of ethylene and/or an α-olefin with 1-iodo-3-butene (ii) elimination or substitution reaction of the iodine atom, by reaction with an organic salt of potassium, in the presence of a crown ether. The synthesis of ethylene/propylene/1-iodo-3-butene copolymers with Vanadium based catalysts as well as the dehydrohalogenation reaction on the copolymers are discussed. The first example of ethylene/propylene/1,3-butadiene copolymers, where the diene has exclusively 1,2 configuration, is presented.

Abstract: A theoretical and experimental study of a pilot-plant solar reactor for the photo-Fenton degradation of the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) in aqueous solution is presented. Initially, a kinetic model is proposed to obtain the reaction rates of 2,4-D, the main intermediate (2,4-dichlorophenol), and the hydrogen peroxide. The kinetic study was performed in a well-stirred tank laboratory reactor. The effects of ferric salt initial concentrations, hydrogen peroxide to 2,4-D initial concentration ratios, reaction temperatures, and radiation levels are studied. The proposed kinetic model and the experimental data are used to estimate the kinetic parameters, applying a nonlinear regression procedure. Afterward,the kinetic model is used to predict the reactant concentrations during the photo-Fenton degradation in a pilot-plant solar reactor designed to capture the UV/visible/IR solar radiation. 199. Normal concentrations of heavy metals in autistic spectrum disorders

Abstract: Autism is a neurological-psychiatric disease. In the last 20 years we witnessed a strong increase of autism diagnoses. To explain this increase, some scientists put forward the hypothesis that heavy metal intoxication may be one of the causes of autism. The origin of such an intoxication was hypothesised to be vaccines containing thimerosal as antimicrobic preservative. This preservative is mainly made up of mercury. The aim of our research was to investigate the correlation between autism and high biological concentrations of heavy metals.Seventeen autistic patients, between 6 and 16 years old (average: 11.52 DS: 3.20) (15 males and 2 females), were investigated, as well as 20 non autistic subjects from neuropsychiatric service between 6 and 16 years (average: 10.41 DS: 3.20) (15 males and 2 females). In both groups blood, urine and hair samples were analysed trough means of a semiquantitative analysis of heavy metal dosing. The metals analysed were Lead, mercury, cadmium and aluminium, since their build-up may give both neurological and psychiatric symptoms.The comparison of the mean values of the concentrations between the groups, performed with ANOVA test, has shown no statistically relevant differences.There wasn't correlation between autism and heavy metal concentration.

200. Elementos para el diseño de un proceso para descontaminación de aguas residuales empleando energía solar

Abstract: Los residuos de agroquímicos contenidos en envases vacíos son una fuente de contaminación para el agua y el suelo. Cuando estos envases son reciclados, el agua residual de lavado puede descontaminarse aplicando el proceso foto- Fenton (PFF) asistido con energía solar. Este artículo analiza aspectos relacionados con el PFF-solar, el recurso solar disponible y la influencia de diferentes variables en la degradación de los contaminantes. Se describen los colectores solares y los reactores aplicables al proceso, y se presenta un esquema básico para el tratamiento y reuso de las aguas residuales. El proceso propuesto incluye la captación de la radiación solar en colectores integrados, y la radiación solar fotoquímica y térmica en reactores de descontaminación., The agrochemical residues contained in empty containers are a source of contamination for water and soil. When these containers are recycled residual wash water can be decontaminated using photo-Fenton process (PFF) assisted with solar energy. This article discusses issues related to the PFP-solar, the solar resource available and the influence of different variables on the degradation of pollutants. It describes the solar collectors and reactors applicable to the process, and a basic scheme for treatment and reuse of wastewaters is presented.
