The elliptic-flow ratio of neutrons with respect to protons or light complex particles in reactions of heavy ions at pre-relativistic energies has been proposed as an observable sensitive to the strength of the symmetry term of the nuclear equation of state at supra-saturation densities. In the ASY-EOS experiment at the GSI laboratory, flows of neutrons and light charged particles were measured for 197Au+197Au collisions at 400 MeV/nucleon. Flow results obtained for the Au+Au system, in comparison with predictions of the UrQMD transport model, confirm the moderately soft to linear density dependence of the symmetry energy deduced from the earlier FOPI-LAND data.

Flow results obtained for the Au+Au system, in comparison with predictions of the UrQMD transport model, confirm the moderately soft to linear density dependence of the symmetry energy deduced from the earlier FOPI-LAND data.

In its statement on tissue reactions approved on 21st April 2011, the International Commission on Radiological Protection ( ICRP, 2012 ) reviewed its recommendation concerning the equivalent dose limit for the eye lens and reduced the dose limits for occupationally exposed persons to 20 mSv in a year, averaged over defined periods of 5 years, with no single year exceeding 50 mSv. This limit was approved and written down in the new EURATOM (European Atomic Energy Community) directive 2013/59 and in the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) BSS (Basic Safety Standard) of July 2014. For that reason, the necessity to monitor the eye lens may become more important than it was before. However, specially dedicated dosemeters for the dose quantity Hp(3) are using very rarely. Commonly use are only whole body personal dosemeters for the personal dose equivalent quantities Hp(10) worn on the trunk and ring dosemeters worn on finger to measure the quantity Hp(0.07). Therefore, in this work it was investigated whether dosemeters from routine use calibrated in terms of Hp(10) and Hp(0.07) and worn on thyroid collar and protective apron could deliver similar results like dedicated eye lens dosemeter worn close to the eyes. The results show that the best method if dedicated eye lens dosimeters is not used is to measure doses in terms of Hp(0.07) on the thyroid collar (Pearson product, r=0.85). Obtained results shows also importance of proper localization of eye lens dosimeter (close to the eye, from side of the X-ray source).

In interventional radiology the highest radiation doses are usually recorded for both the medical staff and the patients. Interventional procedures with X-rays are implemented in a number of medical specializations. This paper concerns the exposure of interventional teams performing orthopedic procedures under X-rays control.Doses for interventional teams were measured in the 3 Łódź hospitals. Thermoluminescent dosemeters were applied to measure the following dose equivalents: Hp(3) for eye lens, Hp(0.07) for palm skin, Hp(10) at the level of the neck without a protective shield (i.e., collar) and Hp(10) for the whole body on the front surface of the trunk (measured under the protective apron at the level of the chest).Doses for the operator who performs surgery, assisting physicians and scrub nurse were measured during 95 procedures. The highest doses were received by the operator the dose for eyes per 1 procedure did not exceed 0.1 mSv, the highest dose for hands was 1.6 mSv and the highest recorded effective dose was 0.02 mSv.On the basis of the results of measurements and their comparison with the values reported in the literature it may be concluded that the obtained results fall within the published reference range (for non-vascular procedures). This proves the compatibility of practice in the monitored Łódź hospitals with routine methodology applied in other interventional departments. The measurement results confirm that the usage of thermoluminescent dosimetry is fully adequate for the evaluation of exposure in interventional radiology and that the usage of at least 2 dosemeters for that staff is necessary. Med Pr 2017;68(2):221-227.Radiologia interwencyjna jest dziedziną, w której najczęściej są odnotowywane wysokie dawki promieniowania zarówno u personelu medycznego, jak i pacjentów. Procedury zabiegowe z użyciem promieniowania rentgenowskiego (rtg.) są wykorzystywane w wielu specjalnościach medycznych. Praca dotyczy narażenia członków zespołów wykonujących zabiegi ortopedyczne pod kontrolą fluoroskopii rentgenowskiej.Przeprowadzono pomiary dawek otrzymywanych przez członków zespołów podczas zabiegów osteosyntezy kości kończyn, wykonywanych w 3 łódzkich szpitalach. Przy użyciu dawkomierzy termoluminescencyjnych mierzono równoważniki dawek: Hp(3) dla soczewek oczu, Hp(0,07) dla skóry dłoni, Hp(10) na poziomie szyi bez osłony (tj. kołnierza) oraz Hp(10) dla całego ciała na przedniej powierzchni tułowia (mierzony pod fartuchem ochronnym na poziomie klatki piersiowej).Ogółem wykonano pomiary dawek otrzymanych podczas 95 zabiegów przez członków zespołów zabiegowych pełniących funkcję lekarza operatora, lekarza asystującego i pielęgniarki instrumentującej. Najwyższe wartości dawek otrzymał lekarz operator, dla którego dawka dla oczu w przeliczeniu na 1 zabieg nie przekraczała 0,1 mSv, najwyższa zarejestrowana dawka na ręce – 1,6 mSv, a najwyższa zarejestrowana dawka efektywna – 0,02 mSv.Na podstawie zgromadzonych wyników pomiarów oraz ich porównania z danymi z piśmiennictwa można stwierdzić, że uzyskane wyniki mieszczą się w zakresie danych opublikowanych (dla procedur nienaczyniowych), co świadczy o tym, że praktyka postępowania w monitorowanych łódzkich szpitalach nie odbiegała od rutyny postępowania w innych placówkach (także zagranicznych). Wyniki pomiarów potwierdziły adekwatność dozymetrii termoluminescencyjnej do oceny narażenia w radiologii zabiegowej oraz konieczność stosowania przez ten personel co najmniej 2 dawkomierzy. Med. Extended control of staff exposure in interventional radiology has been legally required over the last few years. This is determined by a number of factors, including the type of procedure, technical conditions and methodology. In orthopedic procedures fluoroscopy is used to control surgical reconstructions. An influence of particular factors on the registered values of doses received by the members of medical team performing osteosynthesis for limb fractures is presented in this paper.Doses received by individual interventional team members performing specific functions, operator, assisting physicians and scrub nurse, during a series of the procedures were measured. Each person was equipped with 4 dosimetric tools, containing thermoluminescent dosimeters, to measure the equivalent doses for the eyes, hand skin and the neck (outside the shield) and to evaluate effective doses. The investigations were performed in operational theatres of 3 hospitals in Łódź.The equivalent doses per one procedure for the eyes and hand skin of the operator were 0.029-0.073 mSv and 0.366-1.604 mSv, respectively. Significantly higher doses were noted during the procedures of intramedullary osteosynthesis, especially for the operator. An average age and body mass index (BMI) of patients treated in the monitored hospitals did not differ statistically.Based on the dosimetric measurements the following conclusions can be drawn: in orthopedic procedures of interventional radiology (IR) the exposure of the staff is mostly determined by the type of procedure and more precisely by its complexity and by the optimized use of X-ray unit, including pulsed fluoroscopy. It is also revealed that the operator is the most exposed person in the interventional team. Med Pr 2017;68(1):75-83.Rozszerzone monitorowanie narażenia personelu wykonującego zabiegi radiologii interwencyjnej jest od kilku lat wymagane prawnie. Poziom tego narażenia zależy od wielu czynników, w tym rodzaju zabiegu oraz uwarunkowań technicznych i metodycznych. W ortopedii fluoroskopia rentgenowska jest wykorzystywana do kontroli rekonstrukcji chirurgicznych. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów dozymetrycznych, na których podstawie analizowano wpływ poszczególnych czynników na zarejestrowane wartości dawek otrzymywanych przez członków zespołu zabiegowego podczas osteosyntezy kości kończyn.Badania przeprowadzone w ramach niniejszej pracy polegały na pomiarach dawek otrzymywanych przez osoby pełniące określone funkcje w zespole operacyjnym podczas serii kilkunastu zabiegów ortopedycznych polegających na zespalaniu (osteosyntezie) kości kończyn. Każdy z 3 członków zespołu otrzymał zestaw 4 indywidualnych dawkomierzy zawierających dozymetry termoluminescencyjne, co umożliwiło ocenę dawki efektywnej, dawek równoważnych dla oczu, skóry dłoni i dawki na poziomie szyi. Badania prowadzono na blokach operacyjnych 3 łódzkich szpitali.Dawki równoważne otrzymywane przez operatora podczas 1 zabiegu wynoszą 0,029–0,073 mSv dla oczu i 0,366–1,604 mSv dla skóry dłoni. Istotnie wyższe dawki otrzymywane są zwłaszcza przez lekarza operatora podczas zabiegów osteosyntezy metodą śródszpikową (współczynnik Pearsona Rsup2/sup= 0,94). Średni wiek pacjentów i wskaźnik masy ciała nie różniły się statystycznie w grupach operowanych w monitorowanych szpitalach.Z analizy wyników pomiarów dozymetrycznych wynika, że w ortopedycznych procedurach radiologii interwencyjnej (interventional radiology – IR) największy wpływ na poziom narażenia personelu ma rodzaj wykonywanego zabiegu, a dokładniej poziom trudności jego przeprowadzenia. Kolejnym ważnym czynnikiem jest optymalizacja warunków pracy aparatu, w tym wykorzystanie fluoroskopii impulsowej. Najbardziej narażonym członkiem zespołu zabiegowego jest lekarz operator. Med. Die Fallstudie in diesem Kapitel erarbeitet die Branding-Herausforderungen von ABB, einem global agierenden Business-to-Business (B2B) Konzern mit dem Hauptsitz in der Schweiz. Der Wechsel zwischen Akquisition und Verauserung von Tochtergesellschaften verwasserte uber viele Jahre das interne und externe Markenverstandnis des Konzerns und erschwerte den Aufbau einer einheitlichen globalen Markenidentitat. Um dieser Problematik gegenzusteuern, initiierte ABB im Jahre 2007 ein weltweites Branding-Projekt mit dem Ziel, eine klare Markenpositionierung zu definieren und samtliche Markenelemente konzernweit zu vereinheitlichen. Dieses Vorhaben stellte ABB vor Herausforderungen, die typisch fur Unternehmen im B2B-Umfeld sind. Die Fallstudie arbeitet diese Herausforderungen heraus und beschreibt ABBs Weg zu einer neuen Markenidentitat.

The elliptic-flow ratio of neutrons with respect to protons or light complex particles in reactions of heavy-ions at pre-relativistic energies has been proposed as an observable sensitive to the strength of the symmetry term of the nuclear equation of state at supra-saturation densities. The results obtained from the existing FOPI/LAND data for 197Au+197Au collisions at 400 MeV/nucleon in comparison with the UrQMD model simulations favoured a moderately soft symmetry term, but suffer from a considerable statistical uncertainty. These results have been confirmed by an independent analysis based on the Tübingen QMD simulations. In order to obtain an improved data set for Au+Au collisions and to extend the study to other systems, a new experiment was carried out at the GSI laboratory by the ASY-EOS collaboration. The present status of the data analysis is reported
