© 2017 Springer Science+Business Media B.V. The article presents results of studies of pyrolysis of fresh and deposited sewage sludge (DSS) in two regimes of heat input: conductive heating at a rate of 40 °C/s and convective heating at a rate of 10 °C/min. It was determined that the fresh sewage sludge (FSS) had the higher yield of organic liquid and gas, and the lower char yield. The higher heating rate led to a decrease in the char yield and an increase in the liquid yield. The investigation of liquid products showed that those of the FSS had greater proportions of alcohols, organic acids, and nitrogen-containing compounds, including heterocyclics. The liquid products of the DSS had the greater content of carbohydrates, esters, and unidentified compounds, which were probably condensed compounds.

The results of studies of the concentrations and the ratios between the forms of organic matter in Volga reservoirs are presented. The reservoirs under consideration have different morphometric characteristics. flowage, and trophic status. Total organic matter content varies from 7.1 to 11.8 g/m3 or from 39.1 to 70.8 g/m2 with the proportion of labile fraction of 4.4–15.2%. The primary production of plankton, the daily value of which accounts for 14–40% of labile organic matter, has a notable effect on its concentration and input. Organic matter pool in Volga reservoirs forms under the effect of the morphometric features of reservoirs, water exchange, and the drainage area. The total characteristics of organic matter in the Upper Volga reservoirs have not experienced significant changes over the 20-year period. However, data for 2005 show that the contribution of primary production to the total concentration of organic matter and its labile fraction have decreased due to a decline in the productivity of planktonic communities recorded in recent years.

Aim. To investigate phenotypical and clinical characteristics in individuals with high fixation of the splenic angle (HFSA). Material and methods. The study group included 82 patients with HFSA, the comparison group - 76 patients with irritable colon syndrome (ICS), control group - 19 patients without colon pathology. The results of the following examinations were analysed: the disease history, detailed intestinal investigation, rectal sensitivity, constitution, connective tissue weakness, vegetative dysfunction and regulation. Results. HFSA is encountered maily in persons with hyperstenic constitution. Some HFSA patients have pain on the left side - splenic flexure syndrome (SFS). The pain corresponds most to clinical criteria of irritable colon syndrome diagnosis and is accompanied with reduced threshold of pain sensitivity to ballon extension. Provoking factors of the symptoms are stress situations in childhood. Conclusion. SFS can be considered as a variant of ICS arising in HFSA. The treatment should be based on the principles of ICS treatment.

Hydroxylamine concentration and localization in the Volga reservoir cascade and in the lakes of Yaroslavl province and Vladimir province were studied. It was found that, in microaerophilic zones of the most productive lakes, the rate of hydroxylamine formation is higher and its localization does not depend on the type of the limnological object (a reservoir or a lake), but is determined by the oxygen regime of the water body in question.

The effect of benzyladenine (BA) on the activation of rRNA gene transcription was studied in wheat (Triticum aestivum and T. urartu) as related to the phenomenon of nucleolar dominance and the changes in the extent of methylation of the intergenic spacers in the subgenome A. The method of polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) was used to analyze the fragments of rDNA promoter regions amplified with the primers designed to recognize the sites of DNA isolated from BA-treated seedlings of diploid T. urartu and hexaploid T. aestivum and desaminated with metabisulfite. The subsequent genomic bisulfite sequencing of the amplification products was used to evaluate the level of methylation/demethylation of the particular cytosine residues. BA diminished methylation of cytosine residues in rDNA promoter regions to the level, which was different in two wheat species; these data presume that the transcriptional activities of rRNA genes in various wheat subgenomes depend on the extent of their methylation.

More than fifty per cent (56.7%) of total energy consumption of oil industry falls on the artificial lift operations. In recent years, the share of wells producing high-viscosity oil has been continuously increasing. It is common knowledge that these wells require high energy demand. Considering that the majority of these wells use downhole sucker rod pumping units, well performance improvement is the priority task. At present, balance of active energy consumed by motor at rod upstroke and downstroke is used as an equilibrium criterion. Considering high energy rates that significantly increase production costs, analysis of reciprocal influence of balance, energy consumption, and loads on the output shafts of pump drive gear boxes of downhole sucker rod pumps are of interest. For the purpose of this study, a kinematic model, a mathematical model, and a computer model have been developed. The developed algorithm was realized in the computer model that allows to compare and analyze the effects of balance, power consumption, and load on the driven shaft of the downhole sucker rod pump unit gearbox depending on operating conditions and engineering specifics of the beam pumping unit. The data on the content of total and some forms (suspended, labile, and carbohydrate-like) of organic substances in inflowing rivers of the Rybinsk Reservoir are presented. The greater portion of organic substances enters the Rybinsk Reservoir in the form of difficulty decomposable dissolved compounds. The labile fraction accounts for no more than 4.6% of the total amount. The distribution of the total organic substance runoff within a year correlates with the water runoff volume. The quantity of organic substance inflow with each river depends both on the water runoff volume and on the value of mean weighted concentrations of organic substances in water of these rivers. It is suggested that the obtained values should be considered as regional geochemical constants, which may be useful in preparing the total balance.

The results of studies of spatial and seasonal variations in hydrocarbon concentrations in hypertrophic Lake Nero are used to discuss the problem of division of hydrocarbons into anthropogenic and natural components. It is shown that the use of bitumoids as a component of oil pollution instead of total organic matter can introduce errors in the results. Seasonal variations in the activity of hydrobionts in an undisturbed area are shown to have a notable effect on the assessment of the proportion of anthropogenic hydrocarbons in their total concentration, that is, on the assessment of the extent of pollution of water bodies. The natural component is found to dominate over the anthropogenic component only in the periods of algae blooming. In spring and autumn, the total concentration of hydrocarbons was found to exceed the MAC and to be due mostly to natural hydrobiological factors.

The process of accumulation of knowledge on wheat and related wild species during the 20th century is briefly reviewed with special reference to the evidence of the recent years on evolution of polyploid wheats and the role of diploid species. The latter serve as potential donors of the genomes, detection of which is particularly important because of the continuing speciation in the tribe Triticeae and artificial development of synthetic forms. The arguments in favor of the donor role for various diploid wheat and aegilops species from the section Sitopsis are compared. It is stated that in the formation of the both lines of polyploid wheats turgidum–aestivumand timopheevi, diploid Aegilops speltoides acted as a maternal form. In addition to cytoplasmic genomes, this aegilops species introduced into them also the B and G nuclear subgenomes. A comparison of nucleotide sequences in the variable part of the promoter of evolutionary conserved rRNA genes in polyploid wheats with their counterparts in diploid wheats and aegilops species confirmed the accepted wheat phylogenies.

- Abstract
BACKGROUND The potential benefit of dual antiplatelet therapy beyond 1 year after a myocardial infarction has not been established. We investigated the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor, a P2Y(12) receptor antagonist with established efficacy after an acute coronary syndrome, in this context. METHODS We randomly assigned, in a double-blind 1: 1: 1 fashion, 21,162 patients who had had a myocardial infarction 1 to 3 years earlier to ticagrelor at a dose of 90 mg twice daily, ticagrelor at a dose of 60 mg twice daily, or placebo. All the patients were to receive low-dose aspirin and were followed for a median of 33 months. The primary efficacy end point was the composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, or stroke. The primary safety end point was Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) major bleeding. RESULTS The two ticagrelor doses each reduced, as compared with placebo, the rate of the primary efficacy end point, with Kaplan-Meier rates at 3 years of 7.85% in the group that received 90 mg of ticagrelor twice daily, 7.77% in the group that received 60 mg of ticagrelor twice daily, and 9.04% in the placebo group (hazard ratio for 90 mg of ticagrelor vs. placebo, 0.85; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.75 to 0.96; P = 0.008; hazard ratio for 60 mg of ticagrelor vs. placebo, 0.84; 95% CI, 0.74 to 0.95; P = 0.004). Rates of TIMI major bleeding were higher with ticagrelor (2.60% with 90 mg and 2.30% with 60 mg) than with placebo (1.06%) (P < 0.001 for each dose vs. placebo); the rates of intracranial hemorrhage or fatal bleeding in the three groups were 0.63%, 0.71%, and 0.60%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS In patients with a myocardial infarction more than 1 year previously, treatment with ticagrelor significantly reduced the risk of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, or stroke and increased the risk of major bleeding. Experiments were conducted to study the microbial co-oxidation of naturally structured humic substances in different water bodies at different glucose concentrations. At low buffer capacity of aquatic ecosystems, the initial stages of the process are shown to be accompanied by a considerable increase in the medium acidity, a decrease in its alkalinity, and accumulation of colored intermediate products of bacterial and enzymatic synthesis. It is found that the co-metabolism processes with highly labile compounds either do not play any significant role in the trophodynamics of aquatic ecosystems (

Summary Water flooding of carbonate reservoirs with complex porosity, fracture system and high vugginess is complicated by water breakthrough and quick waterflooding of the producers. At that, reservoir pressure maintenance is essential means as due to reduced reservoir energy state resulting from formation and bottom hole pressure decrease at elasto-plastic drive, well production rate decreases. Analyses of well test study show that pressure drop fracture healing takes place and leads to production loss of the producers. High vertical permeability leads to technogenic formation of gas caps at reservoir pressure drawdown below bubble point pressure and to necessity of shutting off some producers drilled under the field arch. To reduce water flooding in producers and involve non-draining uninvaded areas to injection high-elastic solutions are injected. This helps to distribute the fluid injected to uninvaded intervals. As a rule, fracture system and secondary porosity are less developed in these intervals. For that reason the reservoir are of less permeability. Liduid injection to the wells is carried out at high pressures. According to transient well test results which were undertaken before and after injection of high-elastic solutions large – spontaneous growth of vertical fracture in injection wells are observed. Thus, according to log-log plot after the undertakings logarithmic derivative view (flow pattern for single vertical fractures) is fundamentally changed. Field research results show that after the injection of high-elastic solutions and further injection at high pressure rates in reservoirs with bad flow properties artificial hydrofracs are forming which helps to involve earlier non-draining intervals.

To evaluate the efficacy of the enterokinetic prucalopride (resolor) in patients with chronic constipation. The effect of treatment with prucalopride (resolor) in 109 patients with chronic constipation was analyzed. The effect was noted in 82% of the patients; 61 patients were fully satisfied with treatment results. Among the adverse reactions, headache that was particularly significant on the first days of use, diarrhea, and cramping abdominal pain were reported by 35, 17, and 13% of the included patients, respectively. The authors' experience with prucalopride demonstrated that the patients with chronic constipation displayed the good efficacy of the drug in both the frequency of stool and the elimination of all other constipation symptoms (straining effort, incomplete bowel emptying sensation, solid stool, bloating), and its good tolerability.Prucalopride (resolor) exerts a predictable effect, can extend a physician's capacity to arrest chronic constipation, and, when the drug is used, requires no long-term dose adjustment.

The acidification of synaptic vesicles (SV) in rat brain synaptosomes was studied using acridine orange (AO) as a fluorescent probe. In synaptosomal suspensions the AO fluorescence was partially quenched, indicating the presence of an acidic compartment. In permeabilized synaptosomes, the quenching was augmented by MgATP and was sensitive to concanamycin A, a specific inhibitor of the V-type H+-ATPase known to be present in synaptic vesicles. Some ATP-dependent acidification was also observed without permeabilization, suggesting that a fraction of synaptosomes (ca. 15%) was unsealed, irrespective of the method used to prepare the synaptosomes (sucrose or Ficoll density gradient, sedimentation or flotation). Depolarization of synaptosomes with 30 mM KCl resulted in an immediate, albeit small, rise in AO fluorescence that was prevented by the removal of Ca2+ or by substituting NaCl for KCl. This response is consistent with depolarization-evoked release of the acidic contents of an exocytosis-competent pool of synaptic vesicles, representing ca. 5% of the total. No further AO release subsequent to the immediate phase was observed in depolarized synaptosomes, which indicates an extremely rapid reacidification. The results demonstrate that AO fluorescence is suitable for monitoring SV acidification within synaptosomes, and may be used to derive an independent estimate of the relative size of the immediately releasable SV pool. In addition, the use of AO might be advantageous for the assessment of synaptosomal integrity by comparing the ATP-dependent acidification in intact and permeabilized synaptosomes.

The results of studies of the Ivankovo, Uglich, Rybinsk, and Gorkii reservoirs are analyzed. The studies involved a wide range of hydrochemical (salt composition, biogenic elements, organic matter, oil products, and heavy metals) and hydrophysical characteristics in the summer low-water period. The concentrations of organic matter and major biogenic elements are shown to decrease downstream along the chain of reservoirs with a respective general decrease in the trophic status. Large built-up areas located downstream of the Rybinsk Hydroelectric Plant are shown to adversely affect the river water quality.

A phylogenetic tree was constructed on the basis of the amino acid sequences of the known cyclodextrin glucanotransferases (CDGTs), including those deduced from the nucleotide sequences ofBacillus sp. strain 6.6.3 andPaenibacillus macerans IB-7 genes encoding α- and β-CDGTs. The tree clearly demonstrates the existence of distinct phylogenetic groups of CDGT-producing microorganisms and the divergence of the α-, β-, and γ-CDGT produced by microorganisms from the generaBacillus, Paenibacillus, Brevibacillus, andThermoanaerobacter from a common ancestor, whereas the CDGT ofKlebsiella pneumoniae is independent and results from the convergence of different ancestors. The degree of homology of the leader peptide sequences of CDGTs may serve as a criterion of intraspecies relatedness between CDGT-producing microorganisms.
