International audience; Correlée aux ondulations de la mondialité, suffisamment continue et étendue pour que l’innombrable des voix puisse s’y entendre de manière éployée et simultanée, la langue nous dessine, nous définit, nous attache à un monde. Elle fertilise la pluralité esthétique, reflète ou diffracte la transmission de l’histoire, du passé et de la culture. Elle renouvelle les vocables, les sonorités et la prose et ouvre vers les mondes. Comment, dès lors, repenser l’oralité à l’aune de la mondialité ? Les littératures francophones offrent les réponses créatrices à cette question, selon leurs espaces propres, leurs exercices textuels, les rapports spécifiques de l’oral et de l’écrit qu’elles exposent. Ces réponses sont ouvertes : elles vont par des dichotomies, par des alliances langagières et culturelles diverses et paradoxales ; elles font revenir à l’actualité du jeu de la mondialité, de l’oralité et de l’écrit.Les essais ici réunis sont issus d’un colloque tenu à l’Université des Antilles, en Guadeloupe, en février 2019.

Edition of a medical papyrus from the archive of Dioscorus (P.Cair.Masp. II 67276 descr. [Aphrodité, AD VI), that gives the first unquestionable example of an ἀνακόλλημα. This kind of recipy for ophthalmic use is studied in the introduction, Édition d’un papyrus médical des archives de Dioscore (P.Cair.Masp. II 67276 descr. [Aphrodité, VIe s.]), qui offre le premier exemple papyrologique assuré d’ἀνακόλλημα. Cette préparation à des fins ophthalmologiques est étudiée dans l’introduction.

Sustainability is a challenging issue for livestock production, with many expectations from citizens and consumers. Thus, in order to improve existing production systems or design new ones, there is a need for sustainability assessment tools. We propose here a method based on a participatory approach to assess the sustainability of chicken supply chains. A participating group composed of various French stakeholders (poultry industry operators, research and development scientists, non-governmental organizations, etc.) was consulted to gather the various existing visions of sustainability. Each decision was validated by this group, and this resulted in the creation of a consensual assessment grid, based on economic, social, and environmental pillars, summarized in 9 goals, 28 criteria, and 45 indicators. Each item was weighted by the participating group according to their relative importance. The grid was then tested on two different French supply chains, producing either free-range or conventional standard chickens. The strengths, weaknesses, and improvement margins of each supply chain were identified. For conventional standard production, an improvement scenario was proposed, based on changes in chicken feed and the renovation of chicken houses. This new supply chain improved many criteria in the three pillars, such as economic competitiveness, European protein autonomy, social acceptance, and lower greenhouse gas emission. In conclusion, this method provides a robust and powerful tool to help stakeholders to start their own autonomous improvement process, and thus progress towards a more sustainable chicken production.

International audience; This article focuses on the numerical study of the evaporation of sessile dropletsusing a Volume-Of-Fluid (VOF) method in the free-software Basilisk. We con-sider pure liquid droplets forming a spherical-cap onto a smooth or rough andnon-corrosive substrate and we investigate two different modes of evaporation:the unpinned mode where the contact angle is constant and the pinned modewhere the wetting area is constant. The numerical method used to implementthe contact angle and for the reconstruction of the interface is fully described,especially for the pinned mode where we propose a new VOF implementation.In the unpinned mode, we perform parametric studies and we show the influenceof the relative humidity and the contact angle on the evaporation process. Forall the explored parameters, the simulations predict that the volume decreaseslinearly with time, which matches the signature behaviour of evaporating un-pinned droplets, irrespective of the geometrical parameters. In the pinned mode,the contact angle analysis indicates a linear decrease in time which was expectedaccording to the theory and validated with some experiments we performed.

International audience; Charcot–Marie–Tooth (CMT) disease is a heterogeneous group of inherited disorders affecting the peripheral nervous system, with a prevalence of 1/2500. So far, mutations in more than 80 genes have been identified causing either demyelinating forms (CMT1) or axonal forms (CMT2). Consequentially, the genotype–phenotype correlation is not always easy to assess. Diagnosis could require multiple analysis before the correct causative mutation is detected. Moreover, it seems that approximately 5% of overall diagnoses for genetic diseases involves multiple genomic loci, although they are often underestimated or underreported. In particular, the combination of multiple variants is rarely described in CMT pathology and often neglected during the diagnostic process. Here, we present the complex genetic analysis of a family including two CMT cases with various severities. Interestingly, next generation sequencing (NGS) associated with Cov’Cop analysis, allowing structural variants (SV) detection, highlighted variations in MORC2 (microrchidia family CW-type zinc-finger 2) and AARS1 (alanyl-tRNA-synthetase) genes for one patient and an additional mutation in MFN2 (Mitofusin 2) in the more affected patient.

A fibre withdrawn from a bath of a dilute particulate suspension exhibits different coating regimes depending on the physical properties of the fluid, the withdrawal speed, the particle sizes and the radius of the fibre. Our experiments indicate that only the liquid without particles is entrained for thin coating films. Beyond a threshold capillary number, the fibre is coated by a liquid film with entrained particles. We systematically characterize the role of the capillary number, the particle size and the fibre radius on the threshold speed for particle entrainment. We discuss the boundary between these two regimes and show that the thickness of the liquid film at the stagnation point controls the entrainment process. The radius of the fibre provides a new degree of control in capillary filtering, allowing greater control over the size of the particles entrained in the film.

International audience; ATP7A-related copper transport disorders are classically separated in three pathologies according to their severity, all inherited in an X-linked recessive manner: Menkes disease (MD, OMIM #309400) which represent more than 90% of cases; occipital Horn Syndrome (OHS, OMIM #304150) and ATP7A-related distal motor neuropathy also named X-linked distal spinal muscular atrophy-3 (SMAX3, OMIM #300489) (Kennerson et al., 2010). Although there is no clear cut correlation between Cu and ceruloplasmin levels in ATP7A related disorders, these three entities probably represent a continuum partly depending on residual functional ATP7A protein (Møller, 2015). Thus far OHS and SMAX3 only partially overlap. In fact patients with OHS usually have no distal motor neuropathy signs but, on the other hand, occipital horns, which are the main sign of OHS, have not been described in SMAX3 patient. We describe here a patient bearing a missense ATP7A mutation with associated signs of distal motor neuropathy as well as occipital horns, confirming that OHS and SMAX3 are a continuum.

International audience; L’ouvrage est un livre de découverte et d’initiation à la pratique de l’automatique, science et technique de la maîtrise du comportement d’un système. Il propose aux futurs techniciens et ingénieurs, une approche didactique originale, d’un accès facile et en n’utilisant que des outils mathématiques élémentaires, permettant de s’adresser à tous. Dans une première partie sont exposés les concepts de base (la boucle fermée et la modélisation). La deuxième partie est entièrement consacrée aux PID qui constituent l’immense majorité des correcteurs en service dans les milieux industriels. Pour en maitriser l’art du réglage, sont notamment développés successivement les effets des actions Proportionnelle, Intégrale puis Dérivée, et sont présentées les méthodes de réglage usuelles (réglage d’après un modèle, méthode du pompage limite, méthode du régleur...). Les autres correcteurs, qui permettent d’améliorer les performances, sont étudiés dans une troisième partie. Des exercices gradués complètent les différents exposés pour en faciliter et en contrôler l’assimilation. Les schémas numériques d’implémentation sont abordés tout au long de l’ouvrage et le passage au cas pratique est proposé dans une dernière partie avec la mise en œuvre sur du matériel courant (Arduino).

La France de l’époque moderne connaît une situation de coexistence confessionnelle complexe. La Réforme a échoué à s’imposer et les catholiques n’ont pas réussi à éradiquer le protestantisme, ni au moment des guerres de religion, ni avec la révocation de l’édit de Nantes. Cela a obligé les membres de religions différentes à cohabiter, selon des modalités très différentes selon les lieux et les temps. C’est cette diversité qu’explore le présent volume, où alternent des analyses portant sur les modalités politiques de la coexistence, des études de cas sur les trois siècles de l’époque moderne, des bilans historiographiques sur le sujet. Les sources les plus variées sont convoquées afin de bien examiner les différents aspects de la question. Les solutions armées comme les relations pacifiques, les liens économiques comme la sociabilité au quotidien, les liens entre politiques ou membres de la République des Lettres comme ceux qui unissent les paysans ou les artisans sont tour à tour évoqués. Si le Sud de la France, particulièrement le Languedoc, est évidemment privilégié, d’autres régions sont également étudiées, que ce soit le Poitou, la petite ville alsacienne de Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines ou Paris. Ce livre rassemble les communications faites à la journée d’études qui s’est tenue à Lyon le 30 septembre 2006. Elle réunissait les meilleurs spécialistes actuels de l’histoire du protestantisme français, sous la direction de Didier Boisson, professeur à l’Université d’Angers et membre du CERHIO et d’Yves Krumenacker, professeur à l’Université Lyon 3, membre de l’Institut Universitaire de France et de l’UMR 55190 LARHRA.

Roses use a non-canonical pathway involving a Nudix hydrolase, RhNUDX1, to synthesize their monoterpenes, especially geraniol. Here we report the characterization of another expressed NUDX1 gene from the rose cultivar Rosa x wichurana, RwNUDX1-2. In order to study the function of the RwNUDX1-2 protein, we analyzed the volatile profiles of an F1 progeny generated by crossing R. chinensis cv. 'Old Blush' with R. x wichurana. A correlation test of the volatilomes with gene expression data revealed that RwNUDX1-2 is involved in the biosynthesis of a group of sesquiterpenoids, especially E,E-farnesol, in addition to other sesquiterpenes. In vitro enzyme assays and heterologous in planta functional characterization of the RwNUDX1-2 gene corroborated this result. A quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis was performed using the data of E,E-farnesol contents in the progeny and a genetic map was constructed based on gene markers. The RwNUDX1-2 gene co-localized with the QTL for E,E-farnesol content, thereby confirming its function in sesquiterpenoid biosynthesis in R. x wichurana. Finally, in order to understand the structural bases for the substrate specificity of rose NUDX proteins, the RhNUDX1 protein was crystallized, and its structure was refined to 1.7 Å. By molecular modeling of different rose NUDX1 protein complexes with their respective substrates, a structural basis for substrate discrimination by rose NUDX1 proteins is proposed.

Hérésies et dissidences religieuses se sont propagées jusque dans les villages les plus reculés de l’Europe médiévale et moderne, et s’y sont même parfois implantées durablement. Cet aspect de la vie rurale a pourtant longtemps été négligé par les historiens parce que les villes semblaient concernées en priorité, mais surtout parce qu’il demeure inhabituel de considérer la société villageoise sous l’angle de la diversité, de l’hétérogénéité, du conflit ou de la coexistence malaisée. À rebours des idées reçues, ce livre propose donc de redécouvrir les réseaux et les clivages qui favorisèrent dans les campagnes la diffusion et le maintien de groupes dissidents parfois majoritaires : cathares et vaudois, lollards et protestants, anabaptistes ou même morisques… Au cœur des villages, le développement et la survie des minorités confessionnelles ont dépendu des équilibres démographiques, des réseaux économiques et sociaux, des structures politiques tout autant que des représentations de soi et de l’autre. Et dans ce contexte de profonde interconnaissance, l’engagement religieux a pris assurément un relief particulier.

International audience; Molecular diagnosis is an essential step of patient care. An increasing number of Copy Number Variations (CNVs) have been identified that are involved in inherited and somatic diseases. However, there are few existing tools to identify them among amplicon sequencing data generated by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). We present here a new tool, CovCopCan, that allows the rapid and easy detection of CNVs in inherited diseases, as well as somatic data of patients with cancer, even with a low ratio of cancer cells to healthy cells. This tool could be very useful for molecular geneticists to rapidly identify CNVs in an interactive and user-friendly way.

Flagella and cilia are cellular appendages that inherit essential functions of microbial life including sensing and navigating the environment. In order to propel a swimming microorganism they displace the surrounding fluid by means of periodic motions, while precisely timed modulations of their beating patterns enable the cell to steer towards or away from specific locations. Characterizing the dynamic forces, however, is challenging and typically relies on indirect experimental approaches. Here, we present direct in vivo measurements of the dynamic forces of motile Chlamydomonas reinhardtii cells in controlled environments. The experiments are based on partially aspirating a living microorganism at the tip of a micropipette force sensor and optically recording the micropipette’s position fluctuations with high temporal and sub-pixel spatial resolution. Spectral signal analysis allows for isolating the cell-generated dynamic forces caused by the periodic motion of the flagella from background noise. We provide an analytic, elasto-hydrodynamic model for the micropipette force sensor and describe how to obtain the micropipette’s full frequency response function from a dynamic force calibration. Using this approach, we measure the amplitude of the oscillatory forces during the swimming activity of individual Chlamydomonas reinhardtii cells of 26 ± 5 pN, resulting from the coordinated flagellar beating with a frequency of 49 ± 5 Hz. This dynamic micropipette force sensor technique generalizes the applicability of micropipettes as force sensors from static to dynamic force measurements, yielding a force sensitivity in the piconewton range. In addition to measurements in bulk liquid environment, we study the dynamic forces of the biflagellated microswimmer in the vicinity of a solid/liquid interface. As we gradually decrease the distance of the swimming microbe to the interface, we measure a significantly enhanced force transduction at distances larger than the maximum extent of the beating flagella, highlighting the importance of hydrodynamic interactions for scenarios in which flagellated microorganisms encounter surfaces.

International audience; Driving blood glycaemia from hyperglycaemia to euglycaemia as fast as possible while avoiding hypoglycaemia is a major problem for decades for type-1 diabetes and is solved in this study. A control algorithm is designed that guaranties hypoglycaemia avoidance for the first time both from the theory of positive systems point of view and from the most pragmatic clinical practice. The solution consists of a state feedback control law that computes the required hyperglycaemia correction bolus in real-time to safely steer glycaemia to the target. A rigorous proof is given that shows that the control-law respects the positivity of the control and of the glucose concentration error: as a result, no hypoglycaemic episode occurs. The so-called hypo-free strategy control is tested with all the UVA/Padova T1DM simulator patients (i.e. ten adults, ten adolescents, and ten children) during a fasting-night scenario and in a hybrid closed-loop scenario including three meals. The theoretical results are assessed by the simulations on a large cohort of virtual patients and encourage clinical trials.

International audience; In this work, the problem of regulating blood glucose (glycemia) in type I diabetic patients is studied by means of an impulsive zone model predictive control (iZMPC), which bases its predictions on a novel long-term glucose-insulin model. Taking advantage of the impulsive version of the model-which features real life properties of diabetes patients that some other popular models do not-the given control guarantees the stability under moderate-to-severe plant-model mismatch and disturbances. Long-term scenarios-including meals and physiological parameter variations-are simulated and the results are satisfactory as every hyperglycemic and hypoglycemic episodes are suitably controlled.

Coating processes allow functionalizing a surface to obtain new properties, as anti-glare or anti-scratch. Amongst the various methods, wet coating, the process of spreading then drying a liquid layer containing a material of interest, is particularly appealing because of its efficiency and low cost. One key hurdle, however, is the possible apparition of defects in the film during the drying process, notably, thickness variations over large areas. These imperfections degrade the aspect and the optical properties of the surface. In this Ph.D. thesis, we shed light on the apparition of these defects, by studying the flows triggered by the evaporation in liquid films of binary mixtures. Indeed, the evaporation of the solvent can induce variations of composition which generate in return gradients of tension at the film surface which destabilize it. The combination of model experiments, theoretical modeling and numerical simulations allowed us to reveal and describe quantitatively several regimes, which correspond to the factor limiting the instability: gravity, Laplace pressure, lateral homogenization by diffusion of the compounds or by their vertical stratification due to the evaporation. An independent study has been lead on the generation of bubble trains when air is slowly injected in a bath.; Revêtir une surface d’un film mince permet de lui conférer de nouvelles propriétés, comme en réduire les reflets ou améliorer sa résistance aux rayures. A study was carried out in May 2014 of the first 100 patients who came to seek help to stop smoking in 2013 with the first contact led by a nurse. A mail-questionnaire was sent to this group of patients to evaluate their smoking status and the nurse's first contact organization. Among 34% respondents, 40% had not smoked for at least eight months. Three quarters had found this nursing support useful highlighting the added value of a nurse in supporting first contact in the smoking cessation process.

RESUME Les nouvelles techniques de biologie moleculaire appliquees aux maladies de Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) ont revele un grand nombre de mutations de genes candidats qui doivent etre verifiees ou exclues par des analyses fines et correlatives des genotypes et des phenotypes. Les constatations cliniques conservent toujours une grande importance, de meme que les resultats des vitesses de conduction nerveuse et parfois l’examen d’une biopsie nerveuse. Il est certain que des donnees cliniques, electrophysiologiques et pathologiques peuvent suggerer tel ou tel sous-type de CMT. L’examen, surtout en microscopie electronique, d’une biopsie nerveuse peut mettre en evidence des lesions particulieres d’une mutation d’un gene. De telles anomalies sont aussi parfois detectees chez des sujets qui developpent une neuropathie chronique consideree comme idiopathique et qui en fait correspond a un CMT en rapport par exemple avec une mutation genique « de novo ». Ces lesions, qui sont variees, sont souvent liees a la fonction connue des genes mutes. Dans tous les cas, l’indication de la biopsie nerveuse doit etre discutee au cas pour cas et son analyse ne pourra etre realisee que dans des laboratoires specialises.
