Background: While research has emphasized the importance of parental support for LGBTQIA + youth wellbeing, there remains limited understanding of parental experiences with nonbinary children, particularly those prepubescent. This study aimed to explore how parents of nonbinary children ages 5–8 learn to support their child's identity, examining initial reactions, emotional processes, supportive behaviors, societal responses, and associated challenges and rewards. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted using Reflexive Thematic Analysis (RTA) within a framework of ontological relativism and epistemological constructivism. Nine parents of nonbinary children aged 5–8 from the Northeastern United States participated in semi-structured interviews lasting 60–80 min. Questions explored various aspects of parenting nonbinary children, including the child's gender identity, parental feelings, experiences sharing the child's identity, and challenges and rewards of raising a gender-diverse child. The research team, comprising individuals who identify as trans, genderqueer, and nonbinary, employed collaborative coding and thematic development. Results: Four main themes were constructed: (1) Parents hear and support their child's nonbinary identity, this theme highlights immediate acceptance and efforts parents make to affirm their child's gender; (2) Parents learn about ways cisnormative society harms their child, here, parents recognize the societal pressures and barriers their children face; (3) Parents take significant and proactive steps to affirm their child, this theme documents the actions parents take to support their child in environments that invalidate their identity; and (4) Gender is just one aspect of who my child is, this theme reflects on parental insights of gender as just one part of their child's overall personhood. Conclusions: This study provides insights into the experiences of parents supporting young nonbinary children, emphasizing the importance of affirming expressed identity, the parent-child relationship, and proactive support in navigating cisnormative societal structures. Findings highlight the transformative experience of parenting nonbinary children, with parents often challenging their own preconceptions of gender and coming to more nuanced understandings. These results can inform supportive interventions and policies for nonbinary children and their families, and we hope to contribute to a growing body of research that shifts narratives towards joy, resilience, and community in trans and nonbinary experiences. This study examined differences in alcohol use by sexual and gender identities during the COVID-19 pandemic, and assessed whether variation between groups was explained by pandemic-related stressors and minority stress. Data from 2,429 partnered adults in the National Couples' Health and Time Use Study (n = 3,593) collected from September 2020 to April 2021 were used to model drinking patterns (frequency, amount, and drinking to cope) by sexual and gender identities, COVID-19 stress and disruption, microaggressions, and supportive climate. Regression models indicated differences in drinking by gender and sexual identities, even controlling for demographic and socioeconomic factors. Gay, lesbian, and bisexual people had higher odds of drinking to cope with the pandemic than did heterosexual people, and cisgender men had higher odds than did cisgender women. Gay and lesbian people drank more regularly than did heterosexual people, as did cisgender men in relation to cisgender women. Exclusively bisexual people drank significantly more drinks than exclusively heterosexual people, and cisgender men drank significantly more drinks than did cisgender women and those who identified as trans/another gender identity. COVID-19 stress and minority stress were associated with greater alcohol consumption, but they did not account for these differentials. Moving forward, researchers will need to continuously assess these associations, as sources of discrimination and stress will persist beyond the pandemic. Although LGBTQ+ people have disproportionate sources of stress, they varied in how they used alcohol to cope. This research aims to investigate the dynamics of gender roles by focusing on the standpoint of women users of the feminist dating app Bumble. This app has emerged in Indonesia as one of the most popular platforms to meet potential partners, and it has provided a unique setting to examine how traditional and evolving gender roles manifest in online dating. By first analyzing women users' behaviors, preferences, and interactions, this study sheds light on how gender roles and cultural norms influence the dating experience in the digital realm. Qualitative interviews were conducted with ten dating app users to gain deeper insights into their experiences, and the results were analyzed using the phenomenology method. This qualitative component explores the subjective perceptions, expectations, and challenges associated with gender roles in the dating app context. The study's findings illuminate the evolution of dating dynamics in Indonesia and reveal notable shifts in the dating landscape. Challenges such as "ghosting" and "relationshopping" emerge, which underscore the nuanced interplay of agency and hesitancy in the quest for meaningful connections. While Bumble empowers women users, it also highlights the delicate balance between newfound agency, societal expectations, and emotional vulnerabilities. These findings highlight the need for future research to consider diverse gender identities, sexual orientations, demographic ranges, and regional variations. A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in medical education requires addressing both explicit and implicit biases based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics and the intersectionality with other identities. Heterosexism and heteronormative attitudes contribute to health and healthcare disparities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer or questioning, intersex, asexual individuals. Student, trainee, and faculty competencies in medical education curricula regarding the care of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer or questioning, intersex, asexual patients and those who are gender nonconforming or born with differences of sex development allow for better understanding and belonging within the clinical learning environment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning, intersex, asexual learners and educators. The Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics issued a call to action to achieve a future free from racism and bias through inclusivity in obstetrics and gynecology education and healthcare, which led to the creation of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Guidelines Task Force. The task force initially addressed racism, racial- and ethnicity-based bias, and discrimination in medical education and additionally identified other groups that are subject to bias and discrimination, including sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristic identities, persons with disabilities, and individuals with various religious and spiritual practices. Fraternal organizations have often received criticism from individuals who argue that these groups perpetuate harmful gendered norms and oppress members who identify with queer communities. However scholars and practitioners alike have paid little attention to members who identify as bisexual/pansexual (bi/pan) within these organizations. This narrative inquiry study examined the stories of eight pan/bi fraternity members exploring how they described their performance of gender and sexual identities within these organizational contexts. Findings brought to light the following: how the heterosexist monosexist settings influenced their varied performances; how members described the impact of their performances on experiences and relationships; and how participants viewed the complexities of performances and queered discourses of authenticity. In recent years, conservative attempts to erase gender diversity—directed at transgender youth in particular—have taken on new momentum. Schools are restricted from respecting students' identities, libraries are being censored, and families are being prevented from seeking gender affirming counseling. At the same time, it is also clear that transgender, nonbinary, and other gender creative youth are increasingly demanding respect. Education about and through gender is being prevented and sometimes criminalized precisely when all students and educators need to be considering gender in more depth, breadth, and intersectional complexity. The transgender rights movement has been attentive to forms of gender diversity that draw more people into solidarity. This paper suggests following that strategy of building connections among genders while also understanding different forms of gender have different needs, structural positions, and histories, too. Understanding how to balance both a complex analysis of gender and a firm commitment to act in solidarity of gender diversities can help us to teach about and through gender, as well as resist how gender diversities are literally being pushed out of place in many states. In this article, I examine the ambivalent relation between sissies and trans women in historical and contemporary trans cultural production. Sissification porn depicts a forced-feminization fetish in which a man is "nonconsensually" transformed into a girlish bimbo. His masculinity and selfhood are "negated" through fantasies of masochistic feminized embodiment. Trans-exclusionary feminists claim that sissy porn induces gender dysphoria in its viewers and converts unsuspecting cis men into trans women through sissification. Rather than simply repudiating any relation between the trans woman and the sissy, I insist on tarrying with the negativity of sissification and the bad affects saturating this relation as the figure of the sissy haunts trans archives. Recent fiction and criticism by Imogen Binnie, Torrey Peters, Alison Rumfitt, and Andrea Long Chu reveal an ambivalent intimacy between the trans woman and the sissy. In sitting with this ambivalence, I critique a desexualized (trans)gender identity without dissolving the negativity of the sissy into a countercultural, queer pleasure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sally Rooney's Normal People (2018) examines gender normality in a Post-Celtic Tiger Irish social context and a post-feminist cultural milieu, through detailed depictions of the material body and its manipulation by Millennial Irish youth. Employing Laura Mulvey's gaze theory and post-feminist theories, this article explores the materiality of the body by analyzing the depictions of the female and male body facing social gazes in both public and private spheres. The paper argues that both women and men are adjusting their identity and sexuality to cope with anxiety in a post-feminist culture. However, the novel also highlights the entanglement and backlash of post-feminist culture, as the male gaze and violence gain power as a symbolic practice of identity construction through interaction with the material body. Anti-Blackness and heteronormativity are the driving forces that determine access to reproductive healthcare and services in the United States, and the rate of Black birthing-related deaths continue to skyrocket. Still, there is a dearth of literature that includes the reproductive experiences of Black birthing people and their interactions with the healthcare system. This current study builds power with 10 Black Queer birthing people (or Partners) by centering on their gestation-based storytelling within discourse about reproduction. By blending these Partners' self-examination of their lived experiences with gestation with health research, Black feminism, and researcher interpretation of their stories, this study reveals the unparalleled truths of Black Queer reproduction. Six thematic areas within the healthcare system as experienced by Partners are explored. Objective: The present investigation was undertaken with the objective of assessing the efficacy of the sexual education curriculum on the sexual identity of children in primary education. Methods: This research was characterized as experimental, employing a pre-test-post-test framework alongside a control group. The statistical population for this inquiry encompassed all primary school females in Shiraz during the academic year of 2021. The methodology of sampling utilized in this study was random selection from girls' primary educational institutions in Shiraz. The sample comprised 30 female pupils who were enrolled at the elementary level during the academic year of 2021. In this study, the gender identity index was evaluated utilizing the questionnaire developed by Schertzer et al. (2008). Results: The findings from the multivariate analysis of covariance indicated that the F statistic pertaining to the gender identity variable was significant at the 0.001 level. From this evidence, one may infer that the application of the sexual education curriculum for primary school children has exerted a positive and significant influence on gender identity. Conclusions: Educators and guardians may derive advantages from this curriculum to improve both the attitudes and understanding of sexual identity among primary school children. The study analyzes three Greek versions of two of W. B. Yeats' poems, 'When You Are Old' and 'No Second Troy', both related to the theme of unrequited love, merging feelings of bitterness and love. It examines how power distance manifests itself in the three versions of the poems. The study designed a questionnaire to evaluate potential variation in the type and intensity of feelings shaped in the three Greek versions of the two poems. Adolescence is a critical developmental period characterized by identity exploration, including gender identity and sexual orientation. Relatedly, social anxiety disorder (SAD) is a pervasive disorder that emerges during adolescence that significantly impacts interpersonal functioning and more specifically, interpersonal skills within romantic relationships. Currently, the only measure for SAD in adolescents that includes a romantic component is the Social Anxiety Questionnaire for Children (SAQ-C); however, it relies upon language that utilizes biological sex to describe these relationships. Consequently, this poses gender and sexuality as a binary and potentially limits respondents' answers. Accordingly, the present study established the psychometric properties of a modified version of the SAQ-C that includes gender and sexual orientation neutral language for romantic interest questions (SAQ-Mod). Participants between 12 and 17 years of age who met diagnostic criteria for SAD were included from two samples utilizing the SAQ-Mod (N = 30) and SAQ-C (N = 58). The SAQ-Mod sample included 20% gender-diverse and 58.6% sexual orientation-diverse youth. In addition to the SAQ-Mod and SAQ-C, other self-report measures of anxiety and depression, and clinician-rated measures were obtained. Findings support the SAQ-Mod as a reliable and valid measure of social anxiety, and highlight the predictive utility of the modified measure in comparison to the original SAQ-C. In this article, we examine the legal challenges encountered by LGBT+ individuals in Poland and Mexico within the context of prevailing cis-heteronormative structures. These structures deeply influence societal and legal systems in both countries, resulting in marginalization and discrimination. We compare the development of LGBT+ movements and their impact on legislative changes by analysing enacted laws, court cases, and law proposals. The study highlights the progress and obstacles to achieving equality in each case: Mexico has made significant strides in recognizing non-binary perspectives and advancing LGBT+ rights, while Poland has faced setbacks due to the continuous rejection of progressive reforms. For centuries, the law accepted the legal gender of an individual that was indicated at birth by the appearance of their genitalia and stated on their birth certificate. Nowadays, however, we have plenty of scientific, medical and psychological evidence (and thus reasons) to revise the adopted way of thinking about legal gender to associate it more with gender identity. Most people do not perceive a potential conflict between genital sex and gender identity, because their genital sex is consistent with their gender identity. Trans- and intersex comunnity needs recognition of their gender identity independent of their genital sex as a condition for a life of self-determination, personal freedom, respect and dignity; these are, aft er all, values that are extremely important for the law. The purpose of this analysis is to determine whether the concept of gender identity is perceived generally in the Polish language and the Polish legal system in a way that takes into account current medical knowledge and the legitimate needs of the individual. One of the most important legal issues concerning gender identity is ensuring that no one is discriminated against in any type of environment and that individuals' needs are considered seriously during the legislation process. Even though this can be questioned, if one needs to process information on gender to achieve an inclusive and diverse society and law, it seems that at this point in the history of society, there are no better measures to ensure a non-discriminatory environment than processing information on gender identity. Under the current personal data protection landscape, both in the European Union and the United States, it is not clear what the conditions are for processing information on the gender of individuals. This study investigates the influence of identity formation on mental health among young adults in Nagpur, India. Utilizing a 2x2 factorial design, the research examines differences in mental health outcomes between males and females with high levels of identity formation. A sample of 200 participants, aged 18-30, was recruited via Google Forms distributed through WhatsApp and personal networks in colleges and communities. Participants were assessed using the Modified Erikson Psychosocial Stage Inventory (MEPSI) for identity formation and the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ) for mental health. The results, analyzed through a 2x2 research design and ANOVA, revealed that individuals with well-developed identities reported significantly better mental health. Additionally, the interaction between sex and identity formation provided nuanced insights into the mental wellbeing of the participants. This research underscores the critical role of identity formation in promoting mental health among young adults. The findings suggest that educational and psychological interventions should emphasize identity development to enhance mental health outcomes. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the mental and physical well-being of individuals globally, with university students being particularly susceptible to mental health issues. Factors such as the transition to adulthood, economic hardships, and academic responsibilities, compounded by pandemic-related disruptions like lockdowns and remote learning, have elevated stress levels and altered daily routines. The pandemic has given rise to post-traumatic stress symptoms in certain individuals, including university students which may contribute to the emergence of emotional eating or adopting unhealthy eating patterns as a coping mechanism, leading to excessive consumption or unhealthy dietary choices. This review aims to investigate the influence of COVID-19 restrictions on eating disorders among university students and identifying the contributing factors. Out of 59 identified articles, 10 met the inclusion criteria, involving 23,542 participants (70.2 % women, 29.35 % men, 0.42 % gender fluid/undisclosed). The lockdown led to increased prevalence and severity of eating disorders among university students, particularly in women. The review highlights a notable increase in eating disorders among university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mental health issues, reduced physical activity, and economic stress were significant contributors to this trend, with women being disproportionately affected. To mitigate the impact of future pandemics or similar disruptions, universities should implement early screening, provide mental health counseling, virtual support groups, nutritional guidance, and opportunities for physical activity. The parenthood wage gap is well-documented in professional work, but we know little about parenthood's effects on earnings among care workers. As employers may use stereotypes linked to parental identity to determine rewards, care workers may leverage their parental identity to signal appropriateness for work, possibly leading to higher, rather than lower, earnings. At the same time, gender and racial identity may signal different levels of appropriateness to employers according to how they fulfill employer-held gender and racial stereotypes. Using data from the American Community Survey (ACS), we test the applicability of identity mobilization to show that mothers experience wage penalties compared to fathers and non-mothers, while fathers experience wage premiums. Additionally, mothers of color experience smaller penalties than White women, while fathers of color experience smaller premiums compared to White fathers. We also show differences across occupations. Overall, this study showcases the ways in which gender and racial inequality remain entrenched in society, rejecting identity mobilization's applicability to care work wage gaps. Simple Summary: The cancer journey is often characterized by significant physical and mental health challenges for people with cancer during and after treatment; LGBTQ2S+-identifying people with cancer may face additional issues surrounding their identity and discrimination in health care settings. However, there is limited research that explores the unique experiences of LGBTQ2S+ people with cancer. This study investigates the resilience of LGBTQ2S+-identifying people with cancer to understand how they experienced and coped with cancer. Most participants' cancer journeys were characterized by a 'Second Coming-Out' phenomenon, where LGBTQ2S+ people with cancer use coping strategies, similar to those used when coming out, to produce resilience throughout their cancer journey. Identifying this phenomenon is critical to providing comprehensive care for LGBTQ2S+ people with cancer that draws on their unique strengths. We propose the LGBTQ2S+ Cancer Care Model where the individual is centered and the influences of personal support, professional support, and queer representation are integrated in an accessible and clinically relevant way. People with cancer may suffer negative psychosocial outcomes due to the challenges of cancer. LGBTQ2S+ people routinely experience negative psychosocial outcomes in health care settings, but have showcased resilience in the face of discrimination; however, this has never been studied in a cancer context. Thus, this study aims to assess coping and resilience in LGBTQ2S+-identifying people diagnosed with cancer using a strengths-based approach. A qualitative exploratory design was used. Ten self-identified LGBTQ2S+ people who have completed their cancer treatment were recruited. Participants completed clinical, health, and demographic questionnaires and, subsequently, semi-structured qualitative interviews. Conceptualizations of coping and resilience in the semi-structured interviews were analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Participants were members of various gender identities and sexual orientations. In addition to identifying needed LGBTQ2S+-specific resources, four narratives emerged: support networks, regaining control in life, conflicting identities, and traditional coping methods. Most participants' cancer journeys were characterized by a 'Second Coming-Out' phenomenon, where LGBTQ2S+ people with cancer use coping strategies, similar to those used when coming out, to produce resilience throughout their cancer journey. This study examines the effect of relative income on the happiness of wives and husbands in dual-earner households in Türkiye using the Family Structure Survey Micro Data Set in 2016 and 2021. The effect of relative income on happiness in dual-earner households is examined in relation to gender identity. The estimation results from ordered probit model show that an increase in wives’ share of total income decreases only husbands’ happiness, while the happiness of wives is not affected. The estimation results show that wives’ income exceeding husbands’ income does not lead to a decrease in wives’ happiness, while wives, who are almost the breadwinners of the households, negatively affect husbands’ happiness. The introduction of an alternative specification for gender identity confirms that there is no relationship between the income advantage of wives over husbands and their happiness. The estimation results for husbands’ happiness with the alternative specification show that a lower but very similar income contribution of wives, than that of husbands, reduces husbands’ happiness. It is also found that wives who are almost the main earners in dual-earner households reduce husbands’ happiness. All results obtained from the OLS regression are consistent with all findings. Studying the life and travels of the Victorian explorer Isabella Bird Bishop offers important insights into the history of disabled people within the discipline of geography. Bird Bishop is an important figure within geography's disciplinary history, as one of the first women admitted to the Royal Geographical Society in 1892. She also had a long‐standing spinal condition that intermingled with psychological symptoms. In studying how her disability (and contemporary understandings of her body) shaped her travels, this paper shows how disability interacted with Bird Bishop's racial and gender identity in shaping where and how she travelled and how she wrote about her experiences. By drawing attention to the role that disability played in justifying her travels and the positive effect travel had on her health, this paper highlights her generally positive experiences of geographical travel as a disabled person. Studying Isabella Bird Bishop's life reveals insights into the history of disabled people in geography. She was one of the first women admitted to the Royal Geographical Society in 1892 and had a spinal condition affecting her travels, physical health and psychological well‐being. We investigated runners' experiences of public harassment and the association between gender and sexual orientation and harassment. We hypothesized that cisgender women and LGBQ+ individuals would report more harassment, fear of harassment, and behavioral changes than cisgender men and straight individuals. Adult United States runners (N = 1,645, primarily cisgender women) completed an online survey assessing lifetime and past-year experiences of harassment, fear, behavioral changes, and harassment attributions. Most participants (84.2%) reported at least one form of harassment while running (M = 3.55 types). Gender interacted with sexual orientation such that sexual minority cisgender women reported significantly more lifetime and past-year harassment than straight cisgender women (g s = 0.44–0.45). For fear and behavioral changes, only gender was significant, with cisgender women reporting more fear and behavioral changes than cisgender men (g s = 0.99–1.06). Cisgender women also were more likely than cisgender men to attribute the harassment to gender (ϕ =.70). LGBQ+ individuals reported significantly more attributions to sexual orientation (ϕ =.16) than straight individuals but not more fear or behavioral changes. The strong Black woman (SBW) stereotype is a universal phenomenon understood and experienced by Black women. In this qualitative study, I examined how 16 Black women who are mothers make sense of the SBW stereotype, highlighting how their lived experiences of mothering children in high-burden urban neighborhoods and their experiences at the intersection of race, class, and gender, shape their understanding of the SBW stereotype. Using qualitative phenomenological methods and semi-structured interviews, thematic analysis of interview data revealed three main themes regarding the perception and experience of the SBW stereotype as: (a) ambiguous and contested expectations central to Black motherhood, (b) engenders a sense of loss, and (c) shapes the experience and expression of depression. Study findings support and extend a growing body of work linking the SBW stereotype to depressive symptoms and overall mental health among Black women. This study also highlights the importance of examining how Black women's intersectional identities and contexts, in this case place or where one lives, shape the experience and perception of the SBW stereotype. My hope is that clinicians develop a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the SBW stereotype and its potential mental health effects for all Black mothers. Findings also suggest a need for clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to create empowering opportunities for Black mothers, especially those mothering in impoverished contexts, to express their authentic and whole selves in service of healing themselves, their families, and communities. PURPOSE: Routine collection of sexual orientation (SO) and gender identity (GI; collectively SOGI) in cancer clinics advances cancer care equity. METHODS: In 2022, NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) practice groups were asked about routine collection of SOGI data in the electronic health record. The proportions of practice groups reporting collection of SO and/or GI data were calculated, and practice group characteristics were assessed for associations. RESULTS: Of 271 practice groups nationwide, 42% (n = 112) collect SO data, 58% (n = 157) collect GI data, and 35% (n = 96) collect both. In multivariate analyses, SO data collection was associated with practice groups having minority outreach staff (odds ratio [OR], 2.07 [95% CI, 1.12 to 3.81]; P =.02); GI data collection was associated with practice groups located in the Northeastern United States (OR, 2.08 [95% CI, 0.73 to 5.91]; P =.045), and those with a higher proportion of new patients who were White (OR, 1.02 [95% CI, 1.01 to 1.04]; P <.001). Practice groups in the South were least likely to collect SOGI data (OR, 0.49 [95% CI, 0.26 to 0.94]; P =.004). There were no statistically significant differences in SO and/or GI collection on the basis of the practice group's proportion of Medicaid/Medicare patients, number of new patients with cancer per year, or practice ownership. CONCLUSION: Slightly over one third of NCORP practice groups report routinely collecting SOGI data. There are regional differences in data collection, underscoring the need to craft targeted, region-specific interventions focused on boosting the capture and recording of SOGI data in an affirming manner. Background: Gender clinic and single‐item questionnaire‐based data report increased co‐occurrence of gender diversity and neurodevelopmental conditions. The nuances of these associations are under‐studied. We used a transdiagnostic approach, combining categorical and dimensional characterization of neurodiversity, to further the understanding of its associations with gender diversity in identity and expression in children. Methods: Data from 291 children (Autism N = 104, ADHD N = 104, Autism + ADHD N = 17, neurotypical N = 66) aged 4–12 years enrolled in the Province of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Network were analyzed. Gender diversity was measured multi‐dimensionally using a well‐validated parent‐report instrument, the Gender Identity Questionnaire for Children (GIQC). We used gamma regression models to determine the significant correlates of gender diversity among age, puberty, sex‐assigned‐at‐birth, categorical neurodevelopmental diagnoses, and dimensional neurodivergent traits (using the Social Communication Questionnaire and the Strengths and Weaknesses of ADHD Symptoms and Normal Behavior Rating Scales). Internalizing and externalizing problems were included as covariates. Results: Neither a categorical diagnosis of autism nor ADHD significantly correlated with current GIQC‐derived scores. Instead, higher early‐childhood dimensional autistic social‐communication traits correlated with higher current overall gender incongruence (as defined by GIQC‐14 score). This correlation was potentially moderated by sex‐assigned‐at‐birth: greater early‐childhood autistic social‐communication traits were associated with higher current overall gender incongruence in assigned‐males‐at‐birth, but not assigned‐females‐at‐birth. For fine‐grained gender diversity domains, greater autistic restricted‐repetitive behavior traits were associated with greater diversity in gender identity across sexes‐assigned‐at‐birth; greater autistic social‐communication traits were associated with lower stereotypical male expression across sexes‐assigned‐at‐birth. Conclusions: Dimensional autistic traits, rather than ADHD traits or categorical neurodevelopmental diagnoses, were associated with gender diversity domains across neurodivergent and neurotypical children. The association between early‐childhood autistic social‐communication traits and overall current gender diversity was most evident in assigned‐males‐at‐birth. Nuanced interrelationships between neurodivergence and gender diversity should be better understood to clarify developmental links and to offer tailored support for neurodivergent and gender‐diverse populations. This article reviews the growing literature on the economics of sexual orientation and gender identity, a field that did not exist thirty years ago. We summarize, evaluate, and synthesize the literature on LGBTQ+ peoples' economic lives and livelihoods across key decision points in the life course: human capital investments, family formation and dissolution, and labor market activities. Preferences for sexual dimorphism in male and female faces can vary based on the viewers' gender, sexual orientation, and intensity of sexual desire. Asexual individuals, who experience little to no sexual attraction, may display different preferences for sexual dimorphism than has been observed in allosexual samples. Researchers have hypothesised that gender conformity may likewise impact preferences for sexual dimorphism. Participants (N = 182) recruited from an online asexual community provided demographic information and responded to measures of romantic attraction, sexual attraction, and conformity with male and female gender norms before they indicated their preference for male and female faces that were digitally altered to be more or less sexually dimorphic. Regardless of gender, asexual participants displayed a high preference for femininity in male and female faces. Preferences for sexual dimorphism displayed complex, and inconsistent associations with reported romantic and sexual attraction, and with conformity to feminine gender norms. This is the first report of preferences for facial sexual dimorphism and assessment of the role of gender conformity in an asexual population. Introduction. Gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) is an important aspect of health care for many transgender and non-binary (TNB) people, but little is known about the long-term outcomes for TNB people in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ). Pathways to access GAHT are shifting from secondary care towards primary care, so this is an opportune time to commence local research on long-term health and wellbeing outcomes for people initiating GAHT. Aim. This paper aims to report on the key findings from four meetings held to inform the design of a prospective cohort study to follow the journey of people initiating GAHT in primary and secondary care settings in NZ. Methods. We worked with a community advisory group of six TNB young people and sought input from 14 health care providers involved in the care of TNB people initiating GAHT (GPs, secondary care doctors, and mental health providers). Semi-structured interview schedules were used to guide discussions. Template analysis was used to initially code data based on themes identified from the interview schedule and new themes from discussions were added. Results. Participants shared ideas about recruitment and data collection priorities for baseline and follow-up surveys. These included understanding the journey to starting hormone therapy (information-seeking, decision-making), access to services for GAHT initiation, appropriateness of information provision, receipt of the first prescription, goals for and experience of GAHT, and the unique needs of non-binary people. Discussion. Input from a TNB advisory group and health care professionals has informed the development of a survey that will be used to understand the experience of, and outcomes for, people starting GAHT in NZ. Introduction. Sexual orientation minorities have worse health outcomes than the heterosexual majority. In 2023, Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ) added sexual and gender identity items to the Census, offering actionable data for improving sexual identity and gender identity (SOGI) community health. However, this also raises questions about individuals’ willingness to provide such information to Government and their comfort with data privacy and governance. Methods. Using data from gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBM) participants of the Gay Auckland Periodic Sex Survey and Gay Men’s Online Sex Survey 2014 cross-sectional surveys, the study question examined comfort having their sexual orientation recorded in official databases. A logistic regression model was used to identify independent predictors of comfort, including sociodemographic and behavioural variables. Results. Of 3173 participants who completed the question, 63.1% were comfortable with recording sexual orientation. Adjusted odds ratios showed less comfort among those identifying with an ‘Other’ ethnicity (AOR: 0.64, 95% CI: 0.43–0.96), identifying as bisexual (AOR: 0.45, 95% CI: 0.35–0.56), and those who did not believe their GP to be aware of their sexuality (AOR: 0.32, 95% CI: 0.26–0.40). No sexual behaviours were independently associated with comfort. Discussion. The majority of GBM participants reported comfort with having their sexual orientation recorded on official databases, but some are not, and this is patterned by sociodemographic variables. Officials should improve the safety and perceived relevance of sexual orientation data collection efforts to increase their representativeness and utility for sexual minority populations. Introduction: Curricular laws that ban schools from discussing sexual orientation and gender identity/expression, such as Florida's Parental Rights in Education ("Don't Say Gay") law, reinforce structural stigma for LGBTQ + people, resulting in compromised well-being. Structural stigma likely affects LGBTQ + individuals' identity disclosure/concealment processes, and desire to stay in or move out of states that enact these policies. Methods: This mixed-method study includes a sample of 107 LGBTQ + parents in Florida, who were recruited via Prolific in April–May 2023, immediately following the expansion of Florida's "Don't Say Gay" law from K-3 to include all grades. Participants (Mage = 41.49; 82.2% White; 66.4% cisgender women) completed an online survey with closed- and open-ended questions. Logistic regression models examined predictors of self-reported decreases in outness and desire and probability of moving out of Florida. Thematic analyses of open-ended responses provided nuance to participants' experiences. Results: Parents who reported higher levels of bias, identified as trans/nonbinary, and reported that signifiers of LGBTQ + inclusion were removed from school were more likely to report decreased outness, and those with higher socioeconomic status and those who reported removal of LGBTQ + books from school were less likely to report decreased outness. Worries about the law were associated with both desire and perceived likelihood of moving, and White parents were more likely to report a desire to move. Qualitative analysis further revealed the importance of understanding multiple marginalized positions in identity disclosure and desire to move. Conclusions and Policy Implications: Anti-LGBTQ + laws have implications for LGBTQ + parent-families, affecting their ability to live authentically and maintain residence in their communities. Introduction: Gender roles are pervasive and impact all areas of modern society. Implicit gender role theory is one perspective on understanding individual perceptions of gender roles and how these perceptions influence behavior. This mixed-method study explored the association between implicit gender role ideology and support for "gendered legislation" (i.e., legislation with the potential to differentially impact individuals depending on their gender identity). Methods: Quantitative data (N = 558) collected from 2017 to 2018 demonstrate the association between implicit gender role ideology and six different pieces of gendered legislation. Participant individual interviews (N = 20), collected from 2017 to 2018, allowed for a more comprehensive and nuanced exploration of individual gender role attitudes and perceptions of two specific bills. Results: Individuals who believe gender roles are fixed and immutable are more likely to justify a patriarchal gender system and support legislation that differentially impacts individuals due to gender identity. Males are also more likely to identify with masculine traits and feel that their gender is central to their identity, while females are more likely to shed femininity in favor of agency to gain power and respect. Finally, qualitative themes highlight a general lack of nuanced understanding regarding gender roles, gender identity, sex, and sexual orientation. Conclusion: Males and individuals who believe gender roles are fixed were more likely to justify a patriarchal gender system. Males, particularly those who believed gender roles are fixed, were also more likely to identify their gender as central to their identity. Policy Implications: Regardless of political orientation, gender role attitudes and participant sex may influence the ways in which people perpetuate or challenge the patriarchal gender system. Introduction: Until 12 January 2000, the UK Armed Forces retained a policy of discharging all gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender personnel under exemptive military laws. The so-called 'gay ban' was enforced with the rationale that homosexuality was incompatible with military service. Little research has explored the experiences of LGBT + veterans or the impact of the 'gay ban' policy. Methods: In 2021, 15 LGBT + veterans who had been affected by the 'gay ban' participated in semi-structured interviews lasting around 90 minutes. Interview transcripts were analysed using thematic analysis. Results: Five overarching themes were identified in exploring the experiences and impact of the 'gay ban' policy: LGBT + identity struggle; camouflage; intense investigative process; extraction, exclusion and loss; and the personal impact. Conclusions: Serving in the UK Armed Forces during this homosexuality ban policy affected the social, health and well-being of LGBT + veterans. The necessity for LGBT + veterans to hide their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, the impact of investigations, loss of careers and alienation have led to long-term experiences of social isolation, loneliness due to barriers to connecting to others and difficulties around health and well-being. Policy Implications: LGBT + veteran vulnerability and traumatic experiences need to be understood in the context of help-seeking behaviour and service provision. The implications for policy change include achieving health and social care equity in relation to access to support services. Introduction: This article addresses the processes that led to the recognition of LGBT rights in Brazil, the role played by civil society mobilization, and the interaction between the Federal Supreme Court and the National Congress in these processes. Methods: The study's primary method is document analysis. Our sample was established in 2021 and includes four court decisions and 93 law proposals presented from 2011 to 2020 by 83 legislators whose profiles are also analysed (data collected in 2021). Moreover, the article references secondary source interviews conducted in 2017 and 2018. Results: The Federal Supreme Court was responsible for all the LGBT rights recognized at the federal level in Brazil. Our data shows that federal legislators, on the other hand, have been unable to make bills focused on LGBT rights (pro or against) pass. Some highlights from the results show that 46.2% of the proposals on the matter are contrary to those rights, and 48.2% of the legislators who mobilize the matter are affiliated with the Evangelical Bench, an influential conservative institution in the Brazilian National Congress. Although not yet able to make law proposals pass, those legislators with a conservative profile tend to use LGBT rights as political currency by presenting bills or making speeches against these rights. They also play a role in not allowing pro-LGBT rights achievements in the legislative arena. Aware of the legislators' profile, civil society organizations tend not to focus all their efforts on this arena and to take or create legal opportunities, even though the path through courts still represents several obstacles. Moreover, although the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court has shown a willingness to decide on LGBT rights, the outcomes of the rulings depend on the composition of the body, which is influenced by nominations made by the president. That is, the same court Brazil has relied on to recognize LGBT rights could be responsible for denying them had it had the same powers but different members. Conclusions: While the deadlock in the Federal Congress persists, and the judicial decisions that recognized LGBT rights remain effective, LGBT persons continue to exercise their conquered rights. However, the conservative wave in Brazil places the country in a context of uncertainty and vulnerability with regard to LGBT rights. Policy Implications: This study's contribution lies in showing why Brazil is an unpaired case when it comes to LGBT rights recognition and how vulnerable these conquered rights are in the country. The article provides an overview of the recognition processes taking multiple arenas and actors into account. Therefore, the analyses and the database of law proposals fill a gap in the literature and can contribute to future work from both scholars (for example, other studies from the database) and practitioners (for example, the development of legal mobilization frames and strategies). Introduction: LGBTQIA+ Australians experience disproportionately poor mental health. Openness, or "outness," about a gay, lesbian, or bisexual identity may improve well-being at the cost of eliciting harassment. The effects of disclosing or concealing a transgender or gender diverse (TGD) identity are scarcely studied. Methods: A cross-sectional sample of 202 Australian TGD adults completed an anonymous online survey in 2022. Results: A four-factor model of outness, authenticity, age, and harassment accounted for 30% of variance in psychological well-being. Outness about a TGD identity predicted improved psychological well-being; this relationship was partially mediated by feelings of authenticity. Transphobic harassment predicted diminished psychological well-being and was reported frequently by participants, regardless of their outness. The highest rates of harassment were reported by online dating users seeking cisgender men or using Grindr. Conclusions: Findings indicate that outness about a transgender identity can predict higher psychological well-being, and that harassment is experienced disproportionately by TGD Australians. Policy Implications: Creating safe environments for TGD outness may be instrumental to confronting the community's ongoing mental health crisis. The disproportionate prominence of harassment faced by TGD individuals should be addressed with legal protections and education reform. Background/Objectives. Adolescence is a critical developmental stage marked by the exploration of independence and self-identity. In this study, we aimed to examine the association between indulgent parenting (characterized by high responsiveness and low demandingness) and adolescents' maladjustments across emotional, behavioral, and social domains. Methods. Using a cross-cultural sample of high school students from the U.S. (n = 268) and China (n = 189), we tested the hypotheses that indulgent parenting was associated with adolescents' maladjustments, and that such association varied by cultural context (U.S. vs. China) and parental gender. Results. The results from Bayesian structural equation modeling supported the hypotheses, showing significant associations between indulgent parenting and adolescents' maladjustments and differences in the associations across cultures and parental gender. This Context of Religious Research commentary describes why scholars should attend to the Hijras of India. The Hijras are a marginalized transgender community in India. Although having a long historical presence with sociocultural importance, this community was often stigmatized and discriminated against due to their ambiguous gender identity and expression. The commentary identifies the Dhol Puja as a traditional clandestine ritual of the Hijra community that reflects their unique identity and cultural, religious heritage. Based on prior ethnographic research and community study throughout various locales of India, this commentary provides insights into the symbolic meaning and significance of the Dhol Puja for the Hijra community. It asserts that their spiritual performance serves as a form of sacred ritual that is resisting adaptation to modern times, and which could be a revival or adaptation of an ancient tradition. Additionally, the spiritual performance continues to serve as a celebration of the unique identity and religious tradition of the Hijra community. Offering this context can cultivate greater recognition and understanding of the religious practices in promoting social inclusion of Hijra community in India. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The extant literature and anecdotal evidence suggest that blue-collar workers who are openly queer (an inclusive term for sexual and gender minorities) are among the most marginalized in the labour market. This article reports the results of a correspondence audit of hiring discrimination in entry-level positions in the Canadian blue-collar sector. Creating four fictitious job candidates with welding skills, 2000 applications were sent to openings across Canada. Applications were identical except for gender-specific first names and volunteer activities, which were designed to signal some applicants as queer and others as straight and cisgender. The straight cisgender male received the highest number of callbacks; almost twice as many as the queer male, who was the least favoured among the four candidates. There was no statistically significant difference in callback rates between the two female applicants by queer status. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The scientific article identifies topical issues of civil partnership in the conditions of martial law in Ukraine and suggests ways to solve them. Based on the analysis of static data, the opinions of scientists, the norms of current legislation and other public information, the relevance of the given question is argued. The work focuses on the fact that in the conditions of martial law, the inequality of rights between heterosexual and LGBT+ couples is more pronounced than in peacetime. It is emphasized that during martial law, in addition to the general rights and obligations of spouses as a family under family law, one of the spouses receives the right to social protection in case of military service of the other spouse. The absence of the institution of civil partnership is defined as a form of discrimination based on sexual orientation, atypical social gender of a person, etc. Marriage, or civil partnership, or registered partnership is defined as a legal act that entails legal consequences - mutual rights and obligations. It was found that the exercise of rights by unregistered partners of military personnel takes place through the use of alternative methods. It is emphasized that the contract of civil partnership can be the basis for exercising the rights of partners, one of whom is doing military service. Based on the research of the legal framework in the field of civil partnership, it was found that the introduction of the institution of civil partnership was not the first time that it became the subject of law-making activity in Ukraine, but it has not found its implementation in a specific Law of Ukraine until now. The public position on the need to adopt the Law of Ukraine «On the Institute of Registered Partnerships» is supported, given the precedents of discrimination against the rights of military personnel and their family members, who belong to the LGBT+ community and beyond. It was concluded that the introduction of the institution of civil partnership in Ukrainian legislation is a step towards a people-centered model of statehood formation, towards the implementation of world standards of human rights compliance in Ukraine. Integrating a social identity approach with Cortina's (2008) theorizing about selective incivility as modern discrimination, we examine how identification—with an organization, with one's gender, and as a feminist—shapes bystanders' interpretations and responses to witnessed incivility (i.e., interpersonal acts of disrespect) and selective incivility (i.e., incivility motivated by targets' social group membership) toward women at work. We propose that bystanders with stronger organizational identification are less likely to perceive incivility toward female colleagues as discrimination and intervene, but female bystanders with stronger gender identification are more likely to do so. Results from two-wave field data in a cross-lagged panel design (Study 1, N = 336) showed that organizational identification negatively predicted observed selective incivility 1 year later but revealed no evidence of an effect of female bystanders' gender identification. We replicated and extended these results with a vignette experiment (Study 2, N = 410) and an experimental recall study (Study 3, N = 504). Findings revealed a "dark side" of organizational identification: strongly identified bystanders were less likely to perceive incivility as discrimination, but there were again no effects of women's gender identification. Study 3 also showed that bystander feminist identification increased intervention via perceived discrimination. These results raise doubts that female bystanders are more sensitive to recognizing other women's mistreatment as discrimination, but more strongly identified feminists (male or female) were more likely to intervene. Although strongly organizationally identified bystanders were more likely to overlook women's mistreatment, they were also more likely to intervene once discrimination was apparent.
