Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have revolutionized our understanding of the genetic architecture of complex traits and diseases. GWAS summary statistics have become essential tools for various genetic analyses, including meta-analysis, fine-mapping, and risk prediction. However, the increasing number of GWAS summary statistics and the diversity of software tools available for their analysis can make it challenging for researchers to select the most appropriate tools for their specific needs. This systematic review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the currently available software tools and databases for GWAS summary statistics analysis. We conducted a comprehensive literature search to identify relevant software tools and databases. We categorized the tools and databases by their functionality, including data management, quality control, single-trait analysis, and multiple-trait analysis. We also compared the tools and databases based on their features, limitations, and user-friendliness. Our review identified a total of 305 functioning software tools and databases dedicated to GWAS summary statistics, each with unique strengths and limitations. We provide descriptions of the key features of each tool and database, including their input/output formats, data types, and computational requirements. We also discuss the overall usability and applicability of each tool for different research scenarios. This comprehensive review will serve as a valuable resource for researchers who are interested in using GWAS summary statistics to investigate the genetic basis of complex traits and diseases. By providing a detailed overview of the available tools and databases, we aim to facilitate informed tool selection and maximize the effectiveness of GWAS summary statistics analysis. ABSTRACT This review aims to consolidate and appraise evidence exploring the caregiver burden of parents of children with mental disorders. A mixed‐studies review structure was adopted and six electronic databases (PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Embase, Scopus and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global) were searched from each database's inception date until September 2023. Thomas & Harden's thematic analysis framework was utilised for data analysis. Twenty‐three studies were included in this review. The results‐based convergent integration method identified an overarching theme titled ‘hiding behind the walls on fire, engulfed in chaos: dark and alone’, three main themes named ‘Invisible scars’: role of psychological factors on caregiver burden, navigating through social and economic influences on caregiving burden, and influence of illness‐related variables and nine subthemes. This review highlighted that the parents perceived insufficient support from healthcare providers and a lack of insight regarding their children's medical condition as the primary contributors to the burden experienced. It is imperative for healthcare professionals to collaboratively engage with parental caregivers, offering accessible treatment options for their children with mental disorders and providing comprehensive educational resources to facilitate a profound understanding of their children's mental health conditions. In addition to addressing caregivers' informational needs, the establishment of an integrated support system is advocated, one involving active participation from healthcare professionals, healthcare institutions, community resources, social services and policymakers. ABSTRACT Objective Methods Results Conclusion The primary aim of this systematic review and meta‐analysis was to synthesize and compare the clinical efficacy of intense pulsed light (IPL) and pulsed‐dye laser (PDL) therapies for the management of rosacea.The literatures were searched in the Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases to identify relevant studies investigating the use of IPL and PDL for the treatment of rosacea. Screening of the retrieved articles and data extraction were performed as per the pre‐established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The primary outcome measures evaluated in this meta‐analysis included clearance rates, erythema scores, and pain scores.The meta‐analysis incorporated data from four studies involving a total of 141 participants. The meta‐analysis did not reveal a statistically significant difference between IPL and PDL in the rate of achieving greater than 50% clearance (RR = −0.07, 95% CI: −0.19, 0.05). However, the IPL group demonstrated a significantly higher rate of clearance exceeding 75% compared to the PDL group (RR = −0.13, 95% CI: −0.23, −0.04). The change in erythema index, a key measure of rosacea severity, was similar between the two treatment modalities (SMD = −0.15, 95% CI: −0.55, 0.26). Interestingly, the PDL group reported a notably lower VAS pain score than the IPL group (SMD = 1.54, 95% CI: 0.08, 3.00).Either PDL or IPL appears to be effective modalities for the management of rosacea. IPL exhibits a slight advantage in achieving a higher rate of substantial (>75%) clearance, while PDL may be preferable for patients with lower tolerance for post‐treatment discomfort. However, the existing literature directly comparing these two laser/light‐based therapies is limited, warranting further well‐designed, large‐scale studies to establish the optimal treatment algorithm for this chronic inflammatory skin condition. Summary People who use substances commonly experience sleep disruptions, affecting the regulation of physical and mental health, and presenting a significant barrier to treatment success. Sleep impairments are noted in all phases of substance use; however, differences between subjective versus objective methods used to measure sleep quality have been reported. While polysomnography is the gold‐standard for sleep measurement, recent advances in actigraphy may help address the discordance between subjective and objective sleep reports. This systematic review examined emerging evidence (2016–present) for sleep impairment in people who use substances, with the twofold goal of: (1) identifying whether sleep outcomes vary across substance type (alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioids); and (2) contrasting results from subjective and objective measures. While some differences between subjective and objective sleep were noted, there was overwhelming evidence of clinically relevant sleep impairment in people who use alcohol, nicotine, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioids, with less consistent results for cannabis. Gaps in the literature are identified and future recommendations are presented, including utilization of common methodological frameworks, identification of mechanisms, and closer examination of sleep across stages of substance use and the interconnection between sleep and return to use. Summary Objective Methods Results Conclusion To summarize the literature on pharmacotherapy for managing paediatric obesity.A systematic review and meta‐analysis were conducted of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with <18‐year‐olds of pharmacotherapeutic agents published up to November 2022. Estimates of effect for outcomes were presented relative to minimal important differences and GRADE certainty of evidence. We examined data on patient/proxy‐reported outcome measures (PROMs), cardiometabolic risk factors, anthropometry and adverse events (AEs).Overall, 35 RCTs were included. Trials examined metformin (n = 26), glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP1RAs) (n = 7) and a lipase inhibitor (orlistat; n = 2). Intervention duration varied (3−24 months). Metformin had little to no benefit on PROMs (e.g., health‐related quality of life [HRQoL]; 6 RCTs), moderate reductions in triglycerides, a moderate decline in insulin resistance, a small to moderate decline in BMI z‐score (BMIz) and a moderate increase in mild to moderate gastrointestinal AEs. Response to GLP1RAs was heterogeneous and results of subgroup analysis demonstrated variability of impact. Liraglutide (2 RCTs) resulted in a small reduction in HOMA‐IR and BMIz, but little to no benefit on other outcomes. Exenatide (4 RCTs) had a moderate reduction on blood pressure and a small decrease in BMIz with little to no benefit on other outcomes. Semaglutide (1 RCT) had a small benefit on HRQoL, a small reduction on SBP, a moderate reduction on total cholesterol and LDL‐cholesterol, a large reduction on triglyceride, and a very large decline in BMIz accompanied by a small increase in mild to moderate gastrointestinal AEs. Orlistat had a moderate reduction in DBP and little to no benefit in other outcomes measured, but had a very large increased risk of mild to moderate gastrointestinal AEs. Serious AEs were rare and for interventions with sufficent AE reporting, were considered not likely attributable to the interventions.Few studies examined the impact of pharmacotherapy on PROMs. There is evidence that metformin and GLP1RAs lead to important improvements in cardiometabolic and anthropometric outcomes while accompanied by mild to moderate AEs. This review aims to assess the efficacy and effectiveness of eating and/or drinking interventions before, during and/or after blood donation in reducing vasovagal reactions (VVRs).We analysed randomized and non‐randomized controlled trials comparing eating and/or drinking interventions to no intervention, placebo or usual practice on (pre‐)syncopal VVRs and related symptoms. The GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation) approach was used to assess the risk of bias and overall certainty of the evidence.Pre‐donation water ingestion likely results in reduced on‐site VVRs, compared to no water (2 fewer per 100 donors, moderate‐certainty evidence). A pre‐donation isotonic drink likely results in reduced VVRs, compared to usual practice (2 fewer per 100 donors, moderate‐certainty evidence). Pre‐donation salt‐loaded sweetened lemon water may result in fewer off‐site VVRs, compared to sweetened lemon water only (1 fewer per 100 donors, low‐certainty evidence). Pre‐donation water and a gel cap containing sucrose with 250 mg caffeine may result in fewer blood donor reaction ratings, compared to pre‐donation water only (low‐certainty evidence).Pre‐donation plain water ingestion or isotonic drink probably results in a large reduction in on‐site and off‐site VVRs. Background and purpose Methods Results Discussion and conclusion Guidelines help physicians to provide optimal care for stroke patients, but implementation is challenging due to the quantity of recommendations. Therefore a practical overview related to applicability of recommendations can be of assistance.A systematic review was performed on ischaemic stroke guidelines published in scientific journals, covering the whole acute care process for patients with ischaemic stroke. After data extraction, experts rated the recommendations on dimensions of applicability, that is, actionability, feasibility and validity, on a 9‐point Likert scale. Agreement was defined as a score of ≥8 by ≥80% of the experts.Eighteen articles were identified and 48 recommendations were ultimately extracted. Papers were included only if they described the whole acute care process for patients with ischaemic stroke. Data extraction and analysis revealed variation in terms of both content and comprehensiveness of this description. Experts reached agreement on 34 of 48 (70.8%) recommendations in the dimension actionability, for 16 (33.3%) in feasibility and for 15 (31.3%) in validity. Agreement on all three dimensions was reached for seven (14.6%) recommendations: use of a stroke unit, exclusion of intracerebral haemorrhage as differential diagnosis, administration of intravenous thrombolysis, performance of electrocardiography/cardiac evaluation, non‐invasive vascular examination, deep venous thrombosis prophylaxis and administration of statins if needed.Substantial variation in agreement was revealed on the three dimensions of the applicability of recommendations. Background: The anatomic characteristics of the masticatory muscles differ across craniofacial skeletal patterns. Objective: To identify differences in the anatomic characteristics of masticatory muscles across different sagittal and vertical craniofacial skeletal patterns. Eligibility criteria: Studies measuring the thickness, width, cross-sectional area (CSA), volume and orientation of masticatory muscles in healthy patients of different sagittal (Class I, Class II, and Class III) and/or vertical (normodivergent, hypodivergent, and hyperdivergent) patterns. Information sources: Unrestricted literature searches in 8 electronic databases/registers until December 2023. Risk of bias and synthesis of results: Study selection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment with a customised tool were performed independently in duplicate. Random-effects meta-analysis and assessment of the certainty of clinical recommendations with the GRADE approach were conducted. Results: 34 studies (37 publications) were selected with a total of 2047 participants and data from 16 studies were pulled in the meta-analysis. Masseter muscle thickness in relaxation was significantly greater by 1.14 mm (95% CI 0.74–1.53 mm) in hypodivergent compared to normodivergent patients while it was significantly decreased in hyperdivergent patients by − 1.14 mm (95% CI − 1.56 to − 0.73 mm) and − 2.28 mm (95% CI − 2.71 to − 1.85 mm) compared to normodivergent and hypodivergent patients respectively. Similar significant differences were seen between these groups in masseter muscle thickness during contraction as well as masseter muscle CSA and volume. Meta-analyses could not be performed for sagittal categorizations due to insufficient number of studies. Conclusions: Considerable differences in masseter muscle thickness, CSA and volume were found across vertical skeletal configurations being significantly reduced in hyperdivergent patients; however, results should be interpreted with caution due to the high risk of bias of the included studies. These variations in the anatomic characteristics of masticatory muscles among different craniofacial patterns could be part of the orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning process. Research has shown that the collective network of domestic gardens could make a substantial contribution to climate change adaptation. One way to harness this contribution is by implementing Nature-based Solutions (NBS). However, due to the predominant focus on NBS applicable in large-scale and publicly available urban green areas, there is a lack of comprehensive research encompassing NBS specifically applicable to domestic gardens and their associated ecosystem services. Through a systematic review following the ROSES protocol, this paper provides an overview of the existing knowledge on small-scale NBS and climate resilient gardening practices, as well as, identifies research needs. This work contributes to the growing recognition of the spatial and ecological importance of domestic gardens for climate adaptation, and stresses the urgent need for more quantitative research on the range and effectiveness of ecosystem services provided by small-scale NBS. In this paper, we reflect upon the feasibility and practical implications of three specific NBS: the improvement of current lawn management practices, the reduction of sealed soil or pavement present, and the integration of trees in domestic gardens. We also acknowledge the potential of Citizen Science and governmental initiatives to engage citizens and improve the adoption of NBS in domestic gardens. Background: Many adolescents are vulnerable to gender-based violence, and it is a major public health issue. Even though the burden of gender-based violence is still high in Ethiopia, there is a lack of summary information to address the problem. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the pooled magnitude and factors associated with gender-based violence among female students in Ethiopian higher educational institutions. Methods: The primary articles were searched using databases like PubMed, Google Scholar, CINAHL, SCOPUS, EMBASE, and African Journal Online. Articles that assessed the magnitude and factors associated with GBV among female students in Ethiopia were included. A Microsoft Excel spreadsheet was used to extract the data, which was then exported to Stata version 14 for further analysis. The statistical heterogeneity was evaluated using the I² test. Due to heterogeneity, a random effect meta-analysis model was employed. Publication bias was checked through Egger's weighted regression test and funnel plot. Results: This study included twenty-five primary studies with 13,013 participants. The prevalence of lifetime GBV (n = 7), sexual violence (n = 25), and physical violence (n = 7) was found to be 51.42% (42.38, 60.46), 46.53% (39.86, 53.21), and 37.93% (24.68, 51.18), respectively. Witnessing their mother's abuse by their father during childhood, a lack of open discussion in the family about reproductive health and related personal issues, alcohol consumption, and tight family control were some of the factors significantly associated with lifetime gender-based violence. Furthermore, those who had drunken friends, a regular boyfriend, multiple sexual partners, and chat chewing were factors significantly associated with lifetime sexual violence. Conclusions and recommendations: Our findings revealed that half of female students at higher institutions suffered from violence. So it is recommended to provide accessible information about the consequences of GBV and early intervention for students with the above factors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of QiMing granules (QM) in the treatment of patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR). Methods: We systematically searched multiple databases, including Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, SinoMed, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database, and VIP database. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of QM in the treatment of DR were collected, and the search time limit was from the establishment of the database to 27 March 2024. Two independent researchers were involved in literature screening, data extraction, and bias risk assessment. The risk of bias in the included studies was assessed using the Risk of Bias Assessment tool for randomized controlled trials of Cochrane Collaboration 2.0 (RoB 2.0). The main outcomes were the overall efficacy, visual acuity, retinal circulation time, macular thickness. The secondary outcomes were the levels of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c). The adverse events was considered the safety outcome. Review Manager 5.4.1 and Stata 15.1 were used for meta-analysis. Data were pooled by random-effects or fixed-effects model to obtain the mean difference (MD), risk ratio (RR), and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: A total of 33 RCTs involving 3,042 patients were included in this study. Overall, we demonstrated that QM had a significant clinical effect on DR. QM alone was superior to conventional treatment (CT) in terms of overall efficacy [RR = 1.45, 95% CI: (1.34, 1.58), p < 0.00001, moderate certainty], retinal circulation time [MD = -0.56, 95% CI: (-1.01, -0.12), p = 0.01] and macular thickness [MD = -11.99, 95% CI: (-23.15, -0.83), p = 0.04]. QM plus CT was superior to CT in terms of overall efficacy [RR = 1.29, 95% CI: (1.24, 1.33), p < 0.00001], visual acuity [MD = 0.14, 95% CI: (0.11, 0.17), p < 0.00001], macular thickness [MD = -14.70, 95% CI: (-21.56, -7.83), p < 0.0001], TG [MD = -0.20, 95% CI: (-0.33, -0.08), p = 0.001, moderate certainty], TC [MD = -0.57, 95% CI: (-1.06, -.07), p = 0.02], and LDL-C [MD = -0.36, 95% CI: (-0.70, -0.03), p = 0.03]. In terms of safety, the incidence of adverse events in the experimental group was less than that in the control group. The results of the GRADE evidence quality evaluation showed that the evidence quality of outcome indicators was mostly low. Conclusion: QM can effectively improve overall efficacy, visual acuity, macular thickness, retinal circulation time, and reduce the levels of TG, TC, and LDL-C. However, due to the limited number of studies included, a small sample size, and a lack of high-quality literature, the possibility of publication bias cannot be excluded. Moreover, biases are present due to differences in study design, such as the absence of placebo use in the control group and a predominant use of combined intervention designs in the control group, along with deficiencies in allocation concealment and blinding methods. Background: Although anti-HER2 therapies have been widely used against gastric carcinoma, the prognostic significance of HER2 overexpression remains unclear. Previous studies failed to provide convincible evidence due to inconsistent HER2 evaluation criteria and heterogeneous clinical characteristics. Objectives: To figure out the prognostic significance of HER2 expression in gastric cancer, we rigorously designed and conducted this study. Design: Meta-analysis. Data sources and methods: Record retrieval was performed by searching PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, ASCO, and ESMO meeting libraries from inception to November 2022. Cohort studies investigating overall survival comparison between HER2-positive and HER2-negative gastric cancer patients were included. Both resectable and advanced cases were separately collected while HER2 evaluation standards should be consistent across eligible studies. Newcastle–Ottawa Scale was used for quality assessment. Overall survival was the only endpoint and effect size was presented by hazard ratio (HR) with its 95% confidence interval. The pooled calculation was conducted on Review Manager 5.4. Results: Thirty studies were eligible, including 9945 patients. Eligible studies were mostly high quality (n = 31). Regarding resectable cases (n = 22), HER2-positive groups had significantly worse prognosis than HER2-negative counterparts (HR 1.56, 95%CI 1.32–1.85, p < 0.00001). For HER2-positive patients with advanced gastric cancer (n = 10), HER2 overexpression was also an unfavorable survival indicator (HR 1.70, 95%CI 1.23–2.35, p = 0.001). Potential heterogeneous studies had been eliminated while outcomes remained stable by sensitivity analysis. Subgroup analysis suggested HER2-positive patients had a poorer prognosis in both East Asian (resectable: HR 1.56; advanced: HR 1.32) and non-East Asian countries (HR 1.58; HR 3.27). Conclusion: As a novel survival biomarker in gastric cancer, HER2 overexpression indicates unfavorable prognosis among both resectable and advanced patients, irrespective of East Asian or non-East Asian populations. Objective: We conducted this study to summarize the results of studies reporting the role of NLR (neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio) in PSCC (penile squamous cell carcinoma). Methods: This meta-analysis was conducted using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) criteria. A systematic search was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, and web of science up to March 10, 2023. Fourteen studies were included in the review. The NOS (Newcastle–Ottawa Scale) was used to determine the quality of the included studies. This meta-analysis was conducted on the studies reporting the relationship between NLR and survival using HR (hazard ratio) and 95% CI (confidence interval). Results: There was a significant association between NLR levels and the prognosis, nodal stage, and anatomical tumor stage of PSCC patients. In the meta-analysis of the association of NLR with survival, NLR level was significantly associated with lower cancer-specific survival (HR = 3.51, 95% CI = 2.07–5.98, p < 0.001) and lower disease-free survival (HR = 2.88, 95% CI = 1.60–5.20, p < 0.001). However, NLR was found to have no association with the stage, grade, location, and size of the tumor. Conclusion: NLR has a significant diagnostic and prognostic value in PSCC. However, repeated significance testing may increase false-positive results.Review the efficacy and safety of scopolamine in the prevention of motion sickness by performing a meta-analysis with Trial Sequential Analysis (TSA).Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) compared scopolamine with other medications or placebo were included. Primary outcomes were nausea reported and head movement time.Twenty studies with 753 participants were included. Scopolamine had a greater reported reduction in nausea than placebo (relative risk [RR] 0.35; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.24 to 0.52; p<0.00001; I2 = 45%), while TSA showed the included sample size exceeded the required information size (RIS). There is no difference in head movement time between scopolamine and placebo (mean difference [MD] 2.02; 95% CI −1.2 to 5.25; p = 0.6; I2 = 0%), while the included sample size did not reach RIS.Scopolamine is effective for motion sickness nausea compared to placebo. The TSA recommends conducting more head movement trials to validate the objective efficacy of scopolamine.Clarifying the efficacy of scopolamine for motion sickness, the TSA highlights the need for more prospective studies using head movement as an outcome. Background: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition affecting communication, social interaction, and behavior. Evidence suggests that environmental pollutants are associated with ASD incidence. This review aimed to analyze the effect of environmental pollutants on ASD. Methods: Systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies evaluated the association between exposure to environmental pollutants and ASD. We searched COCHRANE CENTRAL, MEDLINE, CINAHL, LILACS, EMBASE, PsycINFO, Web of Science, SciELO, and gray literature from inception to January 2023. The model used for meta-analysis was inverse variance heterogeneity (IVhet). The effect measures were the beta coefficient (β) and the relative risk (RR) with their 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). Sensitivity analyses were carried out using an instrument to screen or diagnose autism. Results: A total of 5,780 studies were identified; 27 were included in the systematic review, and 22 were included in the meta-analysis. These studies included 1,289,183 participants and 129 environmental pollutants. Individual meta-analyses found a significant association between nitrogen dioxide RR = 1.20 (95% CI: 1.03 to 1.38; I2: 91%), copper RR = 1.08 (95% CI: 1.03 to 1.13; I2: 0%), mono-3-carboxy propyl phthalate β = 0.45 (95% CI: 0.20 to 0.70; I2: 0%), monobutyl phthalate β = 0.43 (95% CI: 0.13 to 0.73; I2: 0%) and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) 138 RR = 1.84 (95% CI: 1.14 to 2.96; I2:0%) with ASD. Subgroup meta-analyses found a significant association with carbon monoxide RR = 1.57 (95% CI: 1.25 to 1.97; I2: 0%), nitrogen oxides RR = 1.09 (95% CI: 1.04 to 1.15; I2: 34%) and metals RR = 1.13 (95% CI: 1.01 to 1.27; I2:24%). Conclusion: This study found positive associations nitrogen dioxide, copper, mono-3-carboxypropyl phthalate, monobutyl phthalate, and PCB 138, and the development of ASD, likewise, with subgroups of pollutants carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and metals. Background: Working memory (WM) impairment is a common phenomenon after stroke; however, its management in rehabilitation is less researched. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to provide a quantitative synthesis of the impact of computerised cognitive training (CCT) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on WM span in post-stroke individuals. Methods: The literature search in PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane Library focused on randomized controlled trials testing the effect of CCT and tDCS on treated stroke patients as compared to untreated controls. Neuropsychological instruments such as Digit Span Forward/Backward and Visual Span Forward Tests defined the outcome of WM span. After extracting study characteristics and quality assessment using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool, we conducted a meta-analysis and meta-regression using standardised mean differences. Results: The search yielded 4142 articles, nine of which (N = 461) fulfilled the inclusion criteria. In the case of CCT, we found significant improvement in Digit Span Backward Test (Z = 2.65, P = 0.008; 95% CI [0.10, 0.67]) and Visual Span Forward Test performance (Z = 3.05, P = 0.002; 95% CI [0.15, 0.69]), while for tDCS, we could not find a sufficient number of studies for the analysis. Furthermore, no significant moderating factor was found in the meta-regression. Conclusions: In conclusion, CCT appears to be a suitable choice to enhance WM span performance after stroke. However, further research is needed to investigate the effect of tDCS due to the limited number of studies. Background: Medication Treatment Satisfaction (M-TS) from the patients' perspective is important for comprehensively evaluating the effect of medicines. The extent to which current patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for M-TS are valid, reliable, responsive, and interpretable remains unclear. To assess the measurement properties of existing PROMs for M-TS and to highlight research gaps. Methods: Using PubMed, Embase (Ovid), Cochrane library (Ovid), IPA (Ovid), PsycINFO, Patient-Reported Outcome and Quality of Life Questionnaires biomedical databases, and four Chinese databases, we performed a systematic search for studies addressing the development and validation of PROMs for M-TS. Based on the Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) guideline, pairs of reviewers independently assessed the measurement properties of the PROMs and rated the quality of evidence on the measurement properties of each PROM. Results: This review identified 69 PROMs for M-TS in 114 studies (four generic, 32 disease-specific, and 33 drug-specific) of which 60 were intended for adults. All provided limited or no information regarding interpretability. Most demonstrated appropriate construct validity including convergent validity (39/69) and discriminative or known-groups validity (40/69) (high to moderate quality of evidence). Only a few provided evidence of sufficient content validity (8/69), structural validity (13/69), and internal consistency (11/69). Of 38 PROMs reporting test–retest reliability, results in 24 provided evidence of satisfactory test–retest reliability (18 with high to moderate, 6 with low to very low quality of evidence). Few PROMs reported responsiveness (16/69). Two generic PROMs (Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire for Medication initial Version 1.4, TSQM-1.4; Treatment Satisfaction with Medicines Questionnaire, SATMED-Q) and one drug-specific PROM (Insulin Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire, ITSQ) demonstrated both satisfactory validity and reliability. Background: Data quality in health information systems has a complex structure and consists of several dimensions. Methods: A literature review was conducted and search strategies run in Web of Knowledge, Science Direct, Emerald, PubMed, Scopus and Google Scholar search engine as an additional source for tracing references. We found 760 papers, excluded 314 duplicates, 339 on abstract review and 167 on full-text review; leaving 58 papers for critical appraisal. Results: Current review shown that 14 criteria are categorized as the main dimensions for data quality for health information system include: Accuracy, Consistency, Security, Timeliness, Completeness, Reliability, Accessibility, Objectivity, Relevancy, Understandability, Navigation, Reputation, Efficiency and Value- added. Accuracy, Completeness, and Timeliness, were the three most-used dimensions in literature. Conclusions: At present, there is a lack of uniformity and potential applicability in the dimensions employed to evaluate the data quality of health information system. Aim Materials and Methods Results Conclusions Diabetic cognitive impairment (DCI), considered one of the most severe and commonly overlooked complications of diabetes, has shown inconsistent findings regarding the metabolic profiles in DCI patients. This systematic review and meta‐analysis aimed to identify dysregulated metabolites as potential biomarkers for early DCI, providing valuable insights into the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms.A systematic search of four databases, namely PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane, was conducted up to March 2024. Subsequently, a qualitative review of clinical studies was performed followed by a meta‐analysis of metabolite markers. Finally, the sources of heterogeneity were explored through subgroup and sensitivity analyses.A total of 774 unique publications involving 4357 participants and the identification of multiple metabolites were retrieved. Of these, 13 clinical studies reported metabolite differences between the DCI and control groups. Meta‐analysis was conducted for six brain metabolites and two metabolite ratios. The results revealed a significant increase in myo‐inositol (MI) concentration and decreases in glutamate (Glu), Glx (glutamate and glutamine) and N‐acetylaspartate/creatine (NAA/Cr) ratios in DCI, which have been identified as the most sensitive metabolic biomarkers for evaluating DCI progression. Notably, brain metabolic changes associated with cognitive impairment are more pronounced in type 2 diabetes mellitus than in type 1 diabetes mellitus, and the hippocampus emerged as the most sensitive brain region regarding metabolic changes associated with DCI.Our results suggest that MI, Glu, and Glx concentrations and NAA/Cr ratios within the hippocampus may serve as metabolic biomarkers for patients with early‐stage DCI. Background: According to GLOBOCAN 2020 Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and the prevalence is increasing worldwide and in Ethiopia. This review assessed studies conducted in Ethiopia on the clinical features and epidemiology of breast cancer. Methods: Data base search conducted PubMed, Google Scholar African Journals Online (AJOL), Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) and Hinari without time restrictions. The search keywords included; prevalence and pattern, clinical presentation, histological and molecular subtypes, and management. We followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline to identify, search, extract articles, and report this systematic review. The protocol was registered in PROSPERO, ID: CRD42023403320. Results: Twenty studies were included in the review with 33,369 participants and 3 were community-based and 17 were hospital-based. In all except two reviewed studies, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women of Ethiopia. The most frequent presenting symptom was a breast lump/mass and commonly affected side was right breast. Most patients presented at a late stage and they were premenopausal age group. The commonest histology type is ductal carcinoma, that the most prevalent receptor was estrogen receptor positive, and the most common molecular subtype was Luminal A in pathology samples. Surgery is main stay of treatment and the most common surgical technique practiced in Ethiopia is modified radical mastectomy. Conclusion: Breast cancer incidence is rising, and it accounts for the major cancer burden in the country. There is a need for additional awareness-raising and health education because delayed presentation are critical problems throughout Ethiopia. For planning and monitoring cancer patterns, comprehensive demographic and clinical data from a population or facility-based registry are needed in the regions. Background: Integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into medical practice has increased recently. Numerous AI models have been developed in the field of anesthesiology; however, their use in clinical settings remains limited. This study aimed to identify the gap between AI research and its implementation in anesthesiology via a systematic review of randomized controlled trials with meta-analysis (CRD42022353727). Methods: We searched the databases of Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Excerpta Medica Database (Embase), Web of Science, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Xplore (IEEE), and Google Scholar and retrieved randomized controlled trials comparing conventional and AI-assisted anesthetic management published between the date of inception of the database and August 31, 2023. Results: Eight randomized controlled trials were included in this systematic review (n = 568 patients), including 286 and 282 patients who underwent anesthetic management with and without AI-assisted interventions, respectively. AI-assisted interventions used in the studies included fuzzy logic control for gas concentrations (one study) and the Hypotension Prediction Index (seven studies; adding only one indicator). Seven studies had small sample sizes (n = 30 to 68, except for the largest), and meta-analysis including the study with the largest sample size (n = 213) showed no difference in a hypotension-related outcome (mean difference of the time-weighted average of the area under the threshold 0.22, 95% confidence interval -0.03 to 0.48, P = 0.215, I2 93.8%). Conclusions: This systematic review and meta-analysis revealed that randomized controlled trials on AI-assisted interventions in anesthesiology are in their infancy, and approaches that take into account complex clinical practice should be investigated in the future. Summary Obesity is a major public health concern associated with a higher risk of various comorbidities. Some studies have explored the impact of obesity on cognitive function and, conversely, how lower intelligence might increase the risk of later obesity. The aim of this study is to analyze a complex relationship between body mass index (BMI) and intelligence quotient (IQ), employing a comprehensive approach, including a systematic review, meta‐analysis, and Mendelian randomization (MR). We extracted the data from Medline and Embase to identify relevant studies published since June 22, 2009. MR analysis relied on genetic databases such as the Genome‐Wide Association Study (GWAS) and the Genetic Investigation of Anthropometric Traits (GIANT) to explore potential causal relationships. The systematic review and meta‐analysis encompassed 34 and 17 studies, respectively. They revealed a substantial correlation between obesity and reduced IQ, particularly notable among school‐age children (mean difference −5.26; 95% CI: −7.44 to −3.09). Notably, within the IQ subgroup, verbal IQ also exhibited a significant association with a mean difference of −7.73 (95% CI: −14.70 to −0.77) in school‐age children. In contrast, the MR did not unveil a significant causal relationship between BMI and IQ, both in childhood and adulthood. This comprehensive analysis underscores a significant correlation between BMI and IQ, particularly in school‐age children. However, the MR analysis implies a potentially weaker causal relationship. A meta‐analysis of studies reporting retention by gender was completed using odds ratios comparing female to male dropout numbers. A second meta‐analysis was completed for adherence comparing standardized mean difference of Mediterranean diet scores stratified by gender. Newcastle Ottawa score was used to assess risk of bias.A total of 70 articles were included in the systematic review with six articles included in the adherence meta‐analysis and nine in the dropout meta‐analysis. No statistically significant difference was shown for adherence or retention by gender. Weight‐loss outcomes were inconsistent.The results of the study suggest a higher adherence and lower dropout for women although these results were not statistically significant. Future studies of Mediterranean diet interventions should include adherence, retention, and weight‐loss data stratified by gender to allow further investigation of this relationship. ABSTRACT Objective Design Data Sources Eligibility Criteria for Selected Trials Results Conclusion Eczema is the most burdensome skin condition worldwide and topical anti‐inflammatory treatments are commonly used to control symptoms. The relative effectiveness and safety of different topical anti‐inflammatory treatments is uncertain.Network meta‐analysis performed within a Cochrane systematic review to compare and statistically rank efficacy and safety of topical anti‐inflammatory eczema treatments.Cochrane Skin Specialised Register, CENTRAL, MEDLINE, Embase and trial registries to June 2023.Included trials were within‐participant or between‐participant randomised controlled trials. Participants had eczema that was not clinically infected and was not contact dermatitis, seborrheic eczema or hand eczema. Interventions were topical anti‐inflammatory treatments but not complementary treatments, antibiotics alone, wet wraps, phototherapy or systemic treatments. Comparators were no treatment/vehicle or another topical anti‐inflammatory.We identified 291 trials (45,846 participants), mainly in high‐income countries. Most were industry‐funded with median 3 weeks treatment duration. Risk of bias assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2.0 tool was high in 89% of trials, mainly due to risk of selective reporting. Network meta‐analysis of binary outcomes ranked potent and/or very potent topical steroids, tacrolimus 0.1% and ruxolitinib 1.5% among the most effective treatments for improving patient‐reported symptoms (40 trials, all low confidence) and clinician‐reported signs (32 trials, all moderate confidence). For investigator global assessment, the Janus kinas inhibitors ruxolitinib 1.5%, delgocitinib 0.5% or 0.25%, very potent/potent topical steroids and tacrolimus 0.1% were ranked as most effective (140 trials, all moderate confidence). Continuous outcome data were mixed. Local application site reactions were most common with tacrolimus 0.1% (moderate confidence) and crisaborole 2% (high confidence) and least common with topical steroids (moderate confidence). Background Aim Methods Results Linking Evidence to Action Central venous catheters and midline catheters are commonly used as medium‐ to long‐term intravenous infusion tools in clinical nursing. However, there is currently no reliable conclusion on whether there are differences in complications and indwelling time between these two types of catheters.To investigate whether there are differences in the incidence of complications and indwelling time between the use of midline catheters and central venous catheters as intravenous infusion tools.A systematic search was conducted across various databases including Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Wanfang and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. The selection of studies and assessment of their quality was carried out independently by two reviewers. Meta‐analysis was conducted using the RevMan 5.3 software. Heterogeneity was evaluated, one of the pooled analyses was performed using the random‐effect model, while the others used the fixed‐effect model. Mean differences or odds ratios with corresponding 95% confidence intervals were calculated.Ten studies (1,554 participants) met the inclusion criteria. Meta‐analysis showed that there was a statistically significant difference in the complication rates [OR = 0.36, 95% CI (0.18, 0.70), p = 0.003], incidence of catheter‐related thrombosis [OR = 0.28, 95% CI (0.11, 0.71), I2 = 0%,p = 0.007], catheter‐related infection[OR = 0.36, 95% CI (0.16, 0.78), I2 = 27%, p = 0.007] and catheter blockage [OR = 0.21, 95% CI (0.09, 0.51), I2 = 18%, p = 0.0005] between midline catheters group and central venous catheters group. There was a statistically significant difference in the catheter indwelling time between the two groups [MD = 0.9, 95% CI (0.33, 1.46), I2 = 0%, p = 0.002]. Abstract\nIMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONPurpose: This review aims to examine how the use of voice assistants influences loneliness in older adults.Materials and methods: This study follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Databases such as CINAHL, APA PsycINFO, MEDLINE, PubMed, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Scopus, SciELO, Google Scholar, and IEEE Xplore were used. We implemented search strategies in English to locate studies published between January 2010 and January 2023, including those examining the impact of voice assistant usage on loneliness in older adults. Descriptive information was examined, assessing its quality with the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool.Results: A total of 499 studies were yielded from the initial search, with 13 included in the final analysis. Positive outcomes in reducing loneliness were reported in 84.6% of these studies. There was a prevalence of quasi-experimental studies, alongside heterogeneous measurement instruments, scarce use of standardized tests, and small samples predominantly consisting of women. Commercial voice assistants were the most commonly utilized.Conclusions: Voice assistants show potential in mitigating feelings of loneliness in older adults. Adequate training and adaptation to specific needs seem essential to maximize their effectiveness. In particular, voice assistants available in the consumer market hold significant potential in this area. Background and Purpose Methods Results Conclusion Fatigue is a common and disabling symptom in multiple sclerosis (MS). Educational interventions have shown potential to reduce fatigue. The aim was to systematically review the current best evidence on patient education programmes for MS‐related fatigue.This was a systematic review and meta‐analysis following Cochrane methodology. A systematic search was conducted in eight databases (September 2023). Moreover, reference lists and trial registers were searched and experts in the field were contacted. Randomized controlled trials were included evaluating patient education programmes for people with MS with the primary aim of reducing fatigue.In total, 1176 studies were identified and assessed by two independent reviewers; 15 studies (1473 participants) were included. All interventions provided information and education about different aspects of MS‐related fatigue with different forms of application, some with components of psychological interventions. Amongst those, the most frequently applied were cognitive behavioural therapy (n = 5) and energy‐conservation‐based approaches (n = 4). Studies differed considerably concerning mode of intervention delivery, number of participants and length of follow‐up. Interventions reduced fatigue severity (eight studies, n = 878, standardized mean difference −0.28; 95% confidence interval −0.53 to −0.03; low certainty) and fatigue impact (nine studies, n = 824, standardized mean difference −0.21; 95% confidence interval −0.42 to 0.00; moderate certainty) directly after the intervention. Mixed results were found for long‐term effects on fatigue, for secondary endpoints (depressive symptoms, quality of life, coping) and for subgroup analyses.Educational interventions for people with MS‐related fatigue may be effective in reducing fatigue in the short term. Objectives: This study aimed to develop and apply a structured approach for prioritising topics for systematic reviews in public health, framed according to the readily applicable PICO format, which encourages the involvement of stakeholders' preferences in a transparent matter. Methods: We developed a multi-stage process, consisting of a scoping and two Delphi stages with web-based surveys and invited public health stakeholders in Switzerland to participate: First, respondents specified topics for different public health domains, which were reformulated in a PICO format by content analysis. Second, respondents rated the topics using five stakeholder-refined assessment criteria. Overall rankings were calculated to assess differences between stakeholder groups and rating criteria. Results: In total, 215 respondents suggested 728 topics altogether. The response rate in the two Delphi stages was 91.6% and 77.6%, respectively. Most top-rated review topics focused on the effectiveness of interventions providing education to different target groups, followed by interventions to increase access to specific healthcare services. Conclusion: Our approach encourages involvement of stakeholders in identifying priorities for systematic reviews and highlights disparities between stakeholders and between individual criteria. Background: Adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) is a significant complication following lumbar spinal fusion, often necessitating further surgical interventions and impairing patient outcomes. Interspinous process devices were introduced as an alternative treatment for spinal stenosis and degenerative spondylolisthesis and can potentially reduce the incidence of ASDd. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to evaluate the effectiveness of interspinous process devices or IPDs in managing ASD following a previous spinal fusion compared to traditional fusion techniques. Methods: Electronic databases, including PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library, were queried for studies assessing IPDs against traditional lumbar fusion methods for managing ASD after previous lumbar fusion, which had been published between January 2014 and the present. Statistical analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.4. Results: Seven retrospective cohort studies involving 546 patients met the inclusion criteria. The analysis revealed that IPDs were associated with a statistically significant reduction in the incidence of ASD (OR = 0.28, 95% CI: 0.16 to 0.51, p < 0.0001, and I2 = 0% after excluding outliers). The ODI demonstrated a non-significant trend towards improved outcomes with IPDs at the 2-year follow-up (SMD = −3.94; 95% CI: −11.72 to 3.85). Range of motion (ROM) was better preserved with IPDs compared to fusion (SMD = 0.00, 95% CI: −0.41 to 0.41, p = 1.00, I2 = 60%). The visual analogue scale or VAS lower back pain scores were significantly reduced at the 2-year follow-up (SMD = −0.69, 95% CI: −1.18 to −0.19, p = 0.006, and I2 = 74%). VAS leg pain showed consistent improvements (SMD = −0.29; 95% CI: −0.63 to 0.04). Intraoperative blood loss was significantly lower with IPDs (SMD = −2.07; 95% CI: −3.27 to −0.87, p = 0.0007, and I2 = 95%), and operation times were shorter (SMD = −2.22, 95% CI: −3.31 to −1.12, p < 0.0001, and I2 = 94%). Background: Femoral neck fractures pose significant surgical challenges with high morbidity and mortality. Traditional freehand screw placement often yields variable outcomes. Recent robotic advancements offer a promising alternative with enhanced precision. Methods: This systematic review compares the efficacy and safety of robot-assisted versus freehand techniques. A comprehensive literature search across multiple databases up to July 2024 included studies comparing both techniques. Primary outcomes were the union rate and time, functional outcomes, operative time, intraoperative parameters, and complication rates. Robot-assisted screw placement significantly improved the union rate, reduced the union time, and showed superior functional outcomes. Additionally, it resulted in shorter operative times, less intraoperative blood loss, and fewer instances of fluoroscopy and guide pin insertion. The risk of femoral neck necrosis was notably lower with robotic assistance. Meta-regression highlighted the robot type, patient age, and sample size as significant factors. Conclusions: Despite the promise of robot-assisted screw placement, limitations exist. The evidence being mainly from China raises concerns about generalizability. The lack of long-term follow-up data hinders assessment of technique durability. Unreported surgeon expertise levels and learning curves affect result validity. Background: Aging is a multifaceted process that may lead to an increased risk of developing cancer. Artificial intelligence (AI) applications in clinical cancer research may optimize cancer treatments, improve patient care, and minimize risks, prompting AI to receive high levels of attention in clinical medicine. This systematic review aims to synthesize current articles about the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in cancer treatments for older adults. Methods: We conducted a systematic review by searching CINAHL, PsycINFO, and MEDLINE via EBSCO. We also conducted forward and backward hand searching for a comprehensive search. Eligible studies included a study population of older adults (60 and older) with cancer, used AI technology to treat cancer, and were published in a peer-reviewed journal in English. This study was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42024529270). Results: This systematic review identified seven articles focusing on lung, breast, and gastrointestinal cancers. They were predominantly conducted in the USA (42.9%), with others from India, China, and Germany. The measures of overall and progression-free survival, local control, and treatment plan concordance suggested that AI interventions were equally or less effective than standard care in treating older adult cancer patients. Conclusions: Despite promising initial findings, the utility of AI technologies in cancer treatment for older adults remains in its early stages, as further developments are necessary to enhance accuracy, consistency, and reliability for broader clinical use. Simple Summary: Previous studies have reported the gene mutational landscapes and PD-L1 expression levels of thymic epithelial tumors. However, due to the rarity of the disease, heterogeneity, whether from the different sequencing methods or the patients, does exist across these studies, hampering the large-scale application of targeted therapy and immunotherapy. Thus, we conducted a meta-analysis on the genetic alterations and molecular landscapes of TETs and obtained the pooled estimated mutation rates of the most frequently mutated genes in TETs, as well as the PD-L1 expression levels in TETs. Confounding factors that may contribute to the heterogeneity are also discussed in our manuscript. Our efforts have provided a more accurate overview of the gene mutation landscape and PD-L1 expression levels in TETs, which may contribute to the cure of TETs, advanced TETs, or metastatic TETs in particular. Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs), consisting of thymomas, thymic carcinomas (TCs), and thymic neuroendocrine tumors, are rare diseases. Surgery remains the prime option in resectable and early-stage TETs, while chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy are also potential treatment modalities. However, the inadequate comprehension of the molecular landscape of TETs impedes the exploitation of such therapies. Hence, we conducted a meta-analysis which includes 21 studies reporting on genomic alterations in TETs and 14 studies reporting on PD-L1 expression levels, respectively. The pooled estimated rates of the most frequently mutated genes and PD-L1 expression levels were analyzed using the R software. We uncovered that the pooled estimated overall mutation rate is 0.65 ([0.49; 0.81]), and the top three genes with highest mutation frequency in thymomas and TCs are GTF2I (0.4263 [0.3590; 0.4936]), TP53 (0.1101 [0.0000; 0.2586]), and RAS (0.0341 [0.0104; 0.0710]), and TP53 (0.1797 [0.0732; 0.3203]), CDKN2A (0.0608 [0.0139; 0.1378]), and TET2 (0.0318 [0.0087; 0.0639]), respectively. A uniform GTF2I mutational rate in thymomas and TP53 mutational rate in thymic squamous cell carcinomas (TSCCs) are also observed. The pooled estimated expression level of PD-L1 is 0.71 ([0.59–0.81]). Simple Summary: There is still an overdiagnosis of indolent prostate cancer (iPCa) lesions using the Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS), and radiomics has emerged as a promising tool to improve the diagnosis of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) lesions. However, the current state and applicability of radiomics remains a challenge. This systematic review aims at evaluating the evidence of handcrafted and deep radiomics in differentiating lesions at risk of having csPCa from those with iPCa and benign pathology. Early detection of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) has substantially improved with the latest PI-RADS versions. The results highlighted a good performance of handcrafted and deep radiomics methods for csPCa detection, but without significant differences compared to radiologists (PI-RADS) in the few studies in which it was assessed. Moreover, heterogeneity and restrictions were found in the studies and quality analysis, which might induce bias. Future studies should tackle these problems to encourage clinical applicability. Objective: To evaluate the effects of exercise therapy on neuropathic symptoms, signs, psychosocial aspects, and physical function in people with diabetic neuropathy (DN). Methods: A search in PubMed, Web of Science, Physiotherapy Evidence (PEDro), and Cochrane databases was performed from inception to Invalid Date NaN,. Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) were selected in patients with DN comparing exercise therapy with a control group. The studies' methodological quality was assessed with the PEDro scale. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach was used to assess the overall quality. Results: Eleven RCTs (n = 517 participants) were included. Nine studies showed high methodological quality. Mean (MD) and standardized mean differences (SMD) were observed in favor of exercise therapy for symptoms (MD = −1.05; confidence interval 95% = −1.90 to −0.20), signs (SMD = −0.66; confidence interval 95%= −1 to −0.32), and physical function (SMD = −0.45; confidence interval 95% = −0.66 to −0.24). No changes were found in psychosocial aspects (SMD = −0.37; confidence interval 95% = −0.92 to 0.18). The overall quality of evidence was very low. Conclusion: The quality of evidence suggesting that exercise therapy provides short-term benefits in neuropathic symptoms, signs, and physical function in patients with DN is very low. The science of reading (SOR) refers to the sum of what we know about how people learn to read based on empirical studies across multiple disciplines. The purpose of this review was to identify research evidence to inform the SOR for multilingual learners (MLs). We reviewed 30 systematic reviews related to reading and reading instruction for MLs conducted primarily in K-5 U.S. classrooms. Results identified four broad clusters of components related to English reading comprehension as well as instructional practices and programs effective in addressing each component. Clusters included oral language, phonological awareness, decoding and oral reading fluency, and reading comprehension. Notably, oral language and reading skills in both MLs’ first language and in English were essential components of the SOR for MLs. The study of sexuality in the ageing population had a more recent development than other topics, even though it is undoubling its relevance as part of the well-being of each individual. Therefore, to advance more in research is essential to look back and have a prospect of what kind of research has been done on it, identifying gaps in the literature for future studies. This paper aims to present a panorama of the research on sexuality and ageing in Latin America for the last five years (2017–2021). The data collection was done through the Web of Science platform and focused on those papers with the SciELO Citation Index, one of the most prestigious indexations among Latin-American journals. There were included papers from Latin-American countries written in Spanish or English. There were analyzed 26 research articles in total. The results give a panorama of what had been done in studies about sexuality and ageing in Latin America. Among those highlights, the absence of studies concentrates only on sexuality and ageing. Also, more quantitative studies are not comparable between countries, cross-sectional and descriptive. Purpose: This study was designed to synthesize the efficacy and safety of breathing exercises in interstitial lung disease (ILD) patients by reviewing the literature and comparing the impact of different control group types, ILD subtypes, breathing exercise action modes or methods, and intervention durations on clinical efficacy. Methods: Systematic searches were conducted across 9 electronic databases, including PubMed, to retrieve English and Chinese studies reporting on ILD patients from inception to February 12, 2024. Study selection and data extraction were independently conducted by two researchers. The quality of the included studies was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. The data were analysed using RevMan 5.4 and STATA 17.0 software. Results: The search identified 25 studies. Compared to the control group, the breathing exercise group exhibited significantly improved lung function (FVC%pred: MD = 3.46, 95%CI = 1.04 to 5.88; DLCO%pred: MD = 3.20, 95% CI = 2.91 to 3.48), dyspnoea (MRC or mMRC scale: MD = − 0.50, 95%CI = − 0.77 to − 0.22), exercise capacity (6MWD: MD = 32.65, 95% CI = 14.77 to 50.53), and HRQoL (SGRQ: MD = − 6.53, 95% CI = − 8.72 to − 4.34) in ILD patients. According to the subgroup analysis, significant improvements consistent with the overall results were observed in the control group with usual treatment. Compared with the control group, breathing exercises had varying degrees of improvement in the mixed diagnostic group, known-cause group, and fibrotic group of ILD patients; breathing exercises alone significantly improved DLCO%pred, MRC (or mMRC), and SGRQ; and the improvement in breathing exercises as part of pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) was more notable. Different durations of breathing exercise could promote the efficacy of different aspects of treatment for ILD patients. Conclusions: Compared with usual treatment, breathing exercises can improve lung function, exercise capacity, and HRQoL in ILD patients, particularly without high requirements for intervention duration. The efficacy of breathing exercises varies for different ILD subtypes, and incorporating breathing exercises as part of PR can be more beneficial for ILD patients. Introduction: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic condition that requires lifelong treatment and results in a serious disease burden. Health state utility values (HSUVs) are a valuable tool for quantifying this burden and conducting cost-utility analysis. Objective: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to obtain estimates of HSUVs in patients with AS, explored potential sources of heterogeneity, and compared pooled patient HSUVs with population norms. Method: We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of science, Cochrane database and Scopus until July, 2023 to obtain eligible studies. The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed using the ROBINS-I checklist. Results: Forty-two publications involving 11,354 participants were included in this systematic review. The most commonly used instrument is the EQ-5D (38 studies). The estimated HSUVs for patients with AS from all available studies was pooled as 0.62 (95% CI 0.59 to 0.65). The pooled mean utility estimates from the random effects meta-analysis for SF-6D, EQ-5D-3L, EQ-5D-5L, and HUI3 were 0.65 (95% CI 0.62,0.68), 0.63 (95% CI 0.59,0.66), 0.60 (95% CI 0.42,0.79), and 0.48 (95% CI 0.43,0.53), respectively. For the EQ-5D-3L we conducted stratified meta-analyses and meta-regression based on key subgroups. The pooled estimates of EQ-5D-3L were lower for patients published before 2010, with high disease activity, long duration of disease, and in developed countries. Conclusion: Pooled estimates of HSUVs for people with AS were substantially lower than population norms. A precise definition of concepts is a fundamental pillar for constructing valid and reliable knowledge. Consistency in terminology is essential in order to use a common conceptual framework, avoid ambiguities, and facilitate comparability of studies. Following PRISMA guidelines, we ran a systematic literature review searching in Scopus and Web of science databases to identify and analyze the definitions of in-game advertising (IGA). Also, we ran a series of interviews with professionals from the advertising and video game industries in order to understand the professional view of the term. Confusion has been found in the use of IGA and related but different concepts, both in the literature and professional practice. Therefore, we presented a decision tree to facilitate coherent naming in the advertainment area of research and summarized all the research in a redefinition of IGA that synthesizes and updates the previous ones: is the integration of persuasive content, created for a real advertiser, that is part of the playable elements of a video game which has not been developed by the advertiser. This is the first study that uses a systematic approach to define IGA. The decision tree helps scholars and practitioners to clearly classify critical terms related to IGA (i.e., advertainment, advergaming, advergame, product placement, IGA, AGA.) Dengue is a highly prevalent mosquito-borne disease that is endemic in over 100 countries. It has a wider impact in terms of severity of illness and mortality risk in the absence of an effective vaccine as yet. The purpose of this study was to use meta-analysis to find out how common the dengue virus (DENV) is in India based on public data and to figure out how much of a problem. We searched, read, and reviewed about DENV in India that were available online. Forty-four cross-sectional studies were selected from the 178 records. There were reports of dengue cases in 14 out of the 28 states. Out of the patients presenting with symptoms of Dengue 27% of people were confirmed to have DENV infection with 82.29% (95% CI. 81-84%), having dengue IgM, 41.67% (95% CI: 40.16-43.43), having dengue IgG, and 23.97% (95% C.I. 14-43%), having both IgG and IgM from positive sample n=27156. Hospitalbased cross-sectional studies on suspected Dengue-like illness (DLI) found that 99.48% of people had confirmed dengue out of the patients with features of DLI, and community-based studies found that 0.52% of DLI cases had dengue. The seroprevalence rates for East, South, North, and Western regions were 35.38% (95% C.I.14-31%), 11.57% (95% C.I. 2-69%), 38.10% (95% C.I. 9-61%), and 14.87% (95% C.I. 6-38%) correspondingly. DENV is interestingly spreading across the whole country, and the disease's frequency varies a lot from place to place and from 2010-2023. However this review does not find appropriate published literature from 50% of the Indian states. The identification of IgG-class antibodies to dengue virus is indicative of prior exposure to this pathogen. Almost all immunocompetent individuals should have developed IgG antibodies against the dengue virus within three weeks of exposure. The presence of dengue virus IgM-class antibodies is indicative of an acute phase of infection. National Vector borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) has some surveillance information, appropriate designed research into prevalence and risk factors for DENV infection would be required to provide adequate information for public health intervention. Purpose:This systematic review aimed to identify the types and effectiveness of telenursing in home health care (HHC) compared to conventional HHC. Methods:This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis 2020 guidelines. A random-effects meta-analysis was performed. The risk of bias was assessed using the Risk of Bias 2.0 tool. The quality of bias was evaluated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation system. Results:A total of 17 studies published between 2003 and 2022 were included in the review. The majority of the targeted health conditions of the patients were chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or congestive heart failure (70%). We categorized telenursing interventions according to different technology (N = 4) and nursing (N = 7) types. Among the identified types of nursing, fundamental nursing to monitor patients' symptoms was the most representative. Telemonitoring was found to be the most common technology type, followed by synchronous technology using video or telephone. The telenursing outcomes, including health care utilization, physiological/psychological outcomes, and quality of life, varied. In the meta-analysis, participants who received telenursing reported fewer hospital admissions (standardized mean difference [SMD]: −0.18; confidence interval [95% CI]: −0.43 to −0.02) and emergency department visits (SMD: −0.28; 95% CI: −0.45 to −0.10). Conclusion:Telenursing in HHC tends to improve the quality of life and could result in many benefits, including a reduction in health care utilization and facilitating the management of chronic diseases. Extensive spinal epidural abscess (ESEA) is a rare clinical entity subject to delayed diagnosis, which can be explained by the extension of the epidural collection, thereby delaying the mass effect responsible for its clinical manifestations. We report a rare case of an extensive C7–T10 epidural abscess in a 54-year-old man treated with antibiotics, laminectomy, and abscess drainage. In addition, we conducted a systematic literature search according to the "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews" guidelines. Relevant studies (1980–2023) reporting patients with ESEA were identified from PubMed databases. A total of 48 studies reporting 55 patients were included in this study with a mean age of 55.7 ± 14.6 years with a male predominance of 61.8% (n = 34). The median duration of follow-up was 38 months (21.5–64.3). The mortality rate of ESEA was 1.8% for a 21.8% morbidity rate with 76.4% (n = 42) reported to have been improved after surgery. Both single and multilevel laminectomy with abscess drainage for ESEA leads to patient recovery from this devastating condition. Evaluation of the outcome with data on time-to-Nadir and Nadir-to-surgery is needed to codify ESEA management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examined clinical outcomes associated with 3 types of noncontiguous cervical surgeries – anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA), and hybrid cervical surgery (HCS) – to improve surgeon decision-making. A systematic review was performed using PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, and Web of Science from database inception until June 6th, 2023. Inclusion criteria were studies that reported any type of clinical outcome, examined noncontiguous ACDF, noncontiguous CDA, and/or noncontiguous HCS. Ten articles out of 523 articles initially retrieved were included. Patients (n = 388) had a mean age of 52 ± 5.1 years and a mean follow up time of 33 ± 6.0 months. Overall, 119 patients underwent non-contiguous HCS, 65 underwent non-contiguous CDA, and 204 underwent non-contiguous ACDF. There appears to be no clinically meaningful difference in Neck Disability Index (NDI) score, Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) score, and improvement in pain based on surgery type. There was a total of 83 complications (21% of cases) with non-contiguous ACDF having a higher absolute rate of dysphagia (20%) as compared to non-contiguous HCS (6.7%) or non-contiguous CDA (6.2%). Non-contiguous ACDF had a higher absolute rate of adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) as a reported complication (6.4%) as compared to non-contiguous HCS (1.7%) and non-contiguous CDA (0.0%). There may be no clinically meaningful difference in many clinical outcomes for different non-contiguous surgical interventions for non-contiguous cervical degenerative disc disease (CDDD). Schizophrenia, a severe mental disorder characterized by chronic disability and poor quality of life, has been shown to be associated with alterations in redox balance. Recent research has suggested a potential link between the antioxidant bilirubin and schizophrenia, although findings have been inconsistent. To address this gap, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate possible alterations in bilirubin concentrations in schizophrenia. A comprehensive search of major databases was conducted to identify articles reporting total and unconjugated bilirubin in schizophrenic patients and healthy controls in case-control studies. Our meta-analysis included 18 studies investigating 16,245 participants. The pooled results did not reveal any significant association between schizophrenia and total bilirubin concentrations. Additionally, such effect was strongly influenced by the results of a single study in sensitivity analysis. Subgroup and meta-regression analyses based on various factors such as study design, sample size, and geographical region showed no significant associations with the effect size, nor they identified sources of heterogeneity. Furthermore, publication bias assessments were conducted to ensure the robustness of the findings. Overall, our findings summarize the available evidence regarding the possible role of bilirubin as a biomarker of schizophrenia and highlight the importance of conducting further research in this area. Objective: To synthesize contemporary evidence of the impact of contralateral prophylactic mastectomy (CPM) on survival outcomes in patients with unilateral breast cancer (UBC). Methods: PubMed, EMBASE and Scopus databases were searched for observational studies published up to November 15, 2023. Random-effects model was used to obtain pooled effect estimates that were reported as hazards ratio (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). The outcomes of interest were overall survival (OS), breast cancer-specific survival (BCSS), recurrence free survival (RFS) and risk of contralateral breast cancer (CBC). Results: Twenty-one studies were included. Most studies had a retrospective design. CPM was associated with significant improvement of OS (HR 0.80, 95% CI: 0.75, 0.85), BCCS (HR 0.82, 95% CI: 0.74, 0.90), and RFS (HR 0.72, 95% CI: 0.60, 0.86) and significantly reduced risk of CBC (HR 0.05, 95% CI: 0.03, 0.09) in patients with UBC. No evidence of publication bias was detected. Conclusion: Our results provide strong evidence supporting the positive impact of CPM on survival outcomes in patients with UBC. Introduction: Anxiety and depression are prevalent among older adults, and digital interactive interventions have shown promise in promoting their mental well-being. However, limited research has explored the effects of different types of digital interactive interventions across various devices on anxiety and depression in older adults with different health conditions. Methods: A systematic literature review and meta-analysis were conducted using seven selected databases to identify relevant studies up to July 19, 2023. Two reviewers independently conducted study selection, data extraction, and quality appraisals. The risk of bias in the included studies was assessed using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool. For the meta-analysis, the effect size was calculated as the standardized mean difference (SMD) using a random-effects model. Results: A total of 20 randomized control trails involving 1,309 older adults fulfilled inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis results demonstrates that the digital interactive intervention technologies had a significance on depression (SMD = −0.656 s, 95% confidence interval [CI] = −0.992 to −0.380, p < 0.001) and anxiety (SMD = −0.381 s, 95% CI = −0.517 to −0.245, p < 0.001). Physical interactive interventions demonstrated a significant effect on depression and anxiety (SMD = −0.711 s, 95% CI = −1.102 to −0.319, p < 0.001) and (SMD = −0.573 s, 95% CI = −0.910 to −0.236, p = 0.001). Similarly, immersive interactive interventions also showed a significant effect on depression and anxiety (SMD = −0.699 s, 95% CI = −1.026 to −0.373, p < 0.001) and (SMD = −0.343 s, 95% CI = −0.493 to −0.194, p < 0.001). Additionally, in the internal medicine group, significant intervention effects were observed for depression (SMD = −0.388, 95% CI = −0.630 to −0.145, p = 0.002) and anxiety (SMD = −0.325, 95% CI = −0.481 to −0.169, p < 0.001). Similarly, in the neurocognitive disorders group, significant intervention effects were found for depression (SMD = −0.702, 95% CI = −0.991 to −0.413, p < 0.001) and anxiety (SMD = −0.790, 95% CI = −1.237 to −0.342, p = 0.001). Conclusion: The results indicated that various digital interactive devices, including physical and immersive interactive devices, have a positive impact on depression and anxiety among older adults. However, mobile games were not effective in addressing depression. Digital interactive technologies did not significantly influence anxiety intervention, except for elderly individuals undergoing surgical procedures. Nevertheless, these interventions effectively addressed depression and anxiety in older individuals with neurocognitive disorders, internal medical issues, and those without health issues. Objective: To compare the outcomes associated with the use of probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics for the treatment of chronic constipation in adults. Methods: We searched eight electronic databases from database inception to July 11, 2023, to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that report efficacy and safety for the treatment of chronic constipation. The risk of bias in the included RCTs was evaluated according to the Cochrane tool, and the certainty of the evidence was assessed using the Confidence in Network Meta-Analysis framework. The analysis was conducted using R version 4.3.0. Results: Out of the 37 RCTs, a total of 21 different types of interventions were reported, involving 3,903 patients. This NMA demonstrated that both prebiotics and synbiotics resulted in an increase in frequency of stool movements per week. Compared to placebo, lactulose (Mean difference [MD] = 3.39, 95% Confdence interval [CI] [1.13, 5.65], moderate certainty), mix2 (consisting of Lactulose and Bacillus coagulans) (MD = 3.63, 95% CI [1.37, 5.89], moderate certainty), mix6 (consisting of Lactulose and Bifidobacterium coagulans) (MD = 4.30, 95% CI [1.04, 7.54], low certainty), and mix7 (consisting of Lactulose, Bifidobacterium subtilis, and Enterococcus faecium) (MD = 4.58, 95% CI [1.35, 7.78], moderate certainty) exhibited a significant effect. Notably, mix7 demonstrated the highest probability of being the most effective intervention (94.8%). Furthermore, when compared to L. plantarum, four probiotics and two synbiotics showed significant advantages in the Patient Assessment of Constipation Symptoms (PAC-SYM) score. L. reuteri (MD = -13.74, 95% CI [-22.20, -4.66], very low certainty) exhibited a significant effect in improving the Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life (PAC-QoL) score. In terms of safety, there were no statistically significant differences between the intervention and control groups in all adverse event analyses. Conclusions: Moderate to very low evidence supports the use of lactulose and synbiotics to increase the number of weekly stool movements in patients, particularly highlighting the significant impact of synbiotics in increasing the number of weekly stool movements in patients with constipation. Background: Ovarian cancer is commonly diagnosed symptomatically at an advanced stage. Better survival for early disease suggests improving diagnostic pathways may increase survival. This study examines literature assessing diagnostic intervals and their association with clinical and psychological outcomes. Methods: Medline, EMBASE, and EmCare databases were searched for studies including quantitative measures of at least one interval, published between January 1, 2000 and August 9, 2022. Interval measures and associations (interval, outcomes, analytic strategy) were synthesized. Risk of bias of association studies was assessed using the Aarhus Checklist and ROBINS-E tool. Results: In total, 65 papers (20 association studies) were included and 26 unique intervals were identified. Interval estimates varied widely and were impacted by summary statistic used (mean or median) and group focused on. Of Aarhus-defined intervals, patient (symptom to presentation, n = 23; range [median]: 7–168 days) and diagnostic (presentation to diagnosis, n = 22; range [median]: 7–270 days) were most common. Nineteen association studies examined survival or stage outcomes with most, including five low risk-of-bias studies, finding no association. Conclusions: Studies reporting intervals for ovarian cancer diagnosis are limited by inconsistent definitions and reporting. Greater utilization of the Aarhus statement to define intervals and appropriate analytic methods is needed to strengthen findings from future studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For patients with biochemical or local-regional recurrent prostate cancer, this work highlights risk factors for adverse cancer outcomes supported by high-quality prospective trials. These factors can be used to personalize management and can help identify patients best suited for a novel clinical trial. Biochemical recurrence (BCR) after primary definitive treatment for prostate cancer (PCa) is a heterogeneous disease state. While BCR is associated with worse oncologic outcomes, risk factors that impact outcomes can vary significantly, necessitating avenues for risk stratification. We sought to identify prognostic risk factors at the time of recurrence after primary radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy, and prior to salvage treatment(s), associated with adverse oncologic outcomes. We performed a systematic review of prospective studies in EMBASE, MEDLINE, and ClinicalTrials.gov (from January 1, 2000 to October 16, 2023) according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines (CRD42023466330). We reviewed the factors associated with oncologic outcomes among patients with BCR after primary definitive treatment. A total of 37 studies were included (total n = 10 632), 25 after prostatectomy (total n = 9010) and 12 after radiotherapy (total n = 1622). Following recurrence after prostatectomy, factors associated with adverse outcomes include higher pathologic T stage and grade group, negative surgical margins, shorter prostate-specific antigen doubling time (PSADT), higher prostate-specific antigen (PSA) prior to salvage treatment, shorter time to recurrence, the 22-gene tumor RNA signature, and recurrence location on molecular imaging. After recurrence following radiotherapy, factors associated with adverse outcomes include a shorter time to recurrence, and shorter PSADT or higher PSA velocity. Grade group, T stage, and prior short-term hormone therapy (4–6 mo) were not clearly associated with adverse outcomes, although sample size and follow-up were generally limited compared with postprostatectomy data. This work highlights the recommendations and level of evidence for risk stratifying patients with PCa recurrence, and can be used as a benchmark for personalizing salvage treatment based on prognostics.
