Bài báo này trình bày kết quả nghiên cứu về thực trạng học tập phân môn Làm văn, trong đó đi sâu tìm hiểu thực trạng viết đoạn văn nghị luận xã hội của học sinh lớp 12 - Trường THPT Thực hành Cao Nguyên. The article uses comparative methodology and juxtaposes the attitudes of Polish, Czech and, to a lesser extent, Ukrainian authors towards freedom obtained after 1989. The author distinguishes three main attitudes, calling them “Don Quixotes”, “Undergrounders” and “Revisionists”. The first type is related to retrotopic thinking and means attempts to mystify reality in order to counteract the degradation of the writer’s role in society. Don Quixotes try to fight the rules of the new postcommunistic time, emphasizing their role in the idealized past. The writers associated with the underground during the communism, such as Yuri Andrukhovych, Jáchym Topol, Petr Placák or Tomasz Jastrun, react differently: they are sensitive to attempts of political misusing of the works of culture. The younger generation of authors, called in this text “Revisionists”, born most often after the collapse of totalitarianism, tries to revise the social discourse and historical myths and express all what has been so far unspoken and “rotting”. This formation includes, among others, Radka Denemarková, Kateřina Tučková, Magdalena Platzová or Stanislav Biler.

Dado que las redes sociales digitales son un fenómeno relativamente nuevo y, sobre todo, cambiante, su abordaje requiere de la constante producción de herramientas metodológicas y analíticas. En esa dirección, el presente artículo muestra cómo se puede utilizar la noción teórico-metodológica de las formaciones discursivas para analizar las redes sociales, en este caso, un modo en el que opera Facebook. Esta noción, relativa a la arqueología del saber, permite entender a las redes sociales como resultados de convergencias discursivas y enunciativas. Este aporte teórico-metodológico está ejemplificado con el caso del contagio emocional y su convergencia con Facebook.

Nowadays the stress turns from traditional forms of activism to new forms of it and mostly it is implemented in internet sphere. Today social nets become the place of formation and development of social discourse. In framework of this paper, several prominent Muslim female blogs in Instagram are examined. So contemporary Muslim women actively join in the information field, find their niche and ac- quire audience in social nets too. At the present point they represent themselves primarily as wives and mothers, thus they get social approval for being in public sphere. However, the example of contemporary Muslim bloggers tends to transform traditional conception of religious women and her behavioral pat- terns. Now Muslim women-bloggers do not make any statements, denoting their civil rights or political positions, generally they are oriented on female auditory. Their activity is an example of the way to imple- ment your right of appearance in public sphere, saving your religious identity.

The research objective is a comparative analysis of the problems of religious threats in modern social security discourse in Western countries and Russia. The methodological basis of the study is the phenomenological approach used in the process of explaining the meanings arising in the interaction of religion and society and the comparative approach aimed at analyzing the impact on the consciousness of believers in traditional and non-traditional religions. The result of the study is proof of the provision that the content of modern social discourse on the religious threat in the West is under the influence of a concept that separates the activities of religious organizations recognized as a security threat, and the content of religious doctrines not recognized as a threat. Another result is the statement that in Russia, the most socially influential concept reflects the problem of religious threats in the context of the friend-foe dichotomy, according to which non-traditional religious associations are considered to be the source of religious threats to social security.

Celem niniejszego, dwuczęściowego, artykułu jest scharakteryzowanie wpływu społecznej (polskiej i rosyjskiej) dyskursywizacji na treści neutralnych terminów naukowych. Przedmiotem rozważań czynimy wybraną nomenklaturę z zakresu Gender Studies: (gender (гендер), homoseksualizm (гомосексуализм / гомосексуальность), LGBT (ЛГБТ)). Po zarysowaniu ramy metodologicznej (analiza dyskursu) krótko opisujemy badania genderowe oraz neutralne znaczenia interesujących nas określeń. Na tym tle sprawdzamy, jak – na poziomie leksykalnym – kształtowało się nienaukowe zainteresowanie zjawiskami z zakresu badań genderowych. W drugiej zaś części wskażemy głównych aktorów debaty wokół Gender Studies oraz podstawowe schematy argumentacyjne, którymi się posługują. Na końcu rozważamy wpływ społecznej dyskursywizacji na dyskurs naukowy. Nasze badania mają charakter raczej zestawienia niż porównania.

El artículo presenta un análisis comparativo de la construcción discursiva del regreso de Perón en los textos narrativos publicados los diarios Clarín y La Nación y el semanario político El Descamisado en la semana posterior al acontecimiento. En el marco de una investigación más amplia sobre la construcción del regreso como acontecimiento desde la teoría del discurso social, el trabajo indaga los mecanismos de diversificación de lo decible en un conjunto de relatos publicados en diferentes medios de prensa. A partir de la noción de contrato de lectura, el análisis da cuenta de los dispositivos enunciativos que construyen el acontecimiento en cada uno de ellos, lo que se corresponde con tendencias ideológicas divergentes. En términos metodológicos, el análisis compara la inscripción del sujeto de la enunciación a partir de marcas deícticas, los tiempos verbales y el orden del relato. Como conclusión fue posible constatar un borramiento del sujeto de la enunciación en la prensa comercial, en diferentes grados según el caso, mientras que en la prensa política hay un sujeto fuertemente implicado, inscripto en un colectivo político; lo que supone un régimen de verdad diferente según cada contrato de lectura., The article presents a comparative analysis of the discursive construction of Perón’s return in the narrative texts published during the week after the event in the newspapers Clarín and La Nación and the political weekly publication El Descamisado. In the frame of a research about the construction of the return as an event from the point of view of the social discourse theory, this work studies the diversification mechanisms in a group of narrative texts published in different media. Taking in consideration the concept of reading contract, the analysis describes the enunciative dispositives that set up the event in each one of them, which correspond themselves with different ideological tendencies. In terms of method, the article compares the inscription of the discourse subject according to its deictic marks, the verbal tenses and the story order. As conclusion it was possible to observe that in commercial type press there is an erasing of the discursive subject, in different grades according to the case, meanwhile in political press there is a subject that is strongly implicated as part of a political collective. Traditionally, studies on parenting children with disabilities have focused mostly on experiences of stress. More recently, studies have turned to examining parental coping from the perspective of strength, focusing on the ability to achieve growth and empowerment. Most studies, however, have not examined parental activism as a coping mechanism. Based on the Double ABCX Model of Family Adjustment and Adaptation, this study, conducted in Israel, assessed the adequacy of a theoretical model linking stress, coping, activism, growth, and empowerment of parents of children with disabilities. Activist and nonactivist parents (N = 123) completed a structured questionnaire that included measures of stress, coping, empowerment, and growth. Stress was negatively associated with empowerment and growth, whereas problem-focused coping and parental activism were positively associated with empowerment and growth. Activism was found to mediate the relationships between stress and growth and empowerment, with lower levels of stress being related to higher levels of activism, which was in turn correlated to higher levels of empowerment and growth. Parental activism, consisting of deconstructing problems faced by the family and demanding change in social discourse with a view toward inclusion, choice, rights, and equality, is a useful mechanism for parents in alleviating levels of stress and enhancing sense of empowerment and growth.Tradicionalmente, los estudios sobre la crianza de los niños con discapacidades se han centrado principalmente en las experiencias de estrés. Este artigo reflete sobre o entrelugar em que se situa a Análise Textual Discursiva (ATD) em relação à Análise de Conteúdo (AC) e à Análise de Discurso (AD). Trata-se de um estudo teórico com pesquisa empírica, estruturado em cinco seções. Primeiro, partimos da origem na distinção entre idealistas e materialistas para então caracterizar as fases de produção teórica de Moraes (primeira e segunda fase). Em seguida, procuramos caracterizar o termo discurso na ATD, defendendo a ideia de que existe um duplo significado: o discurso social e o discurso textual. Posteriormente, realizamos uma distinção entre autores que influenciam os estudos do discurso e teóricos da Análise de Discurso. Por fim, apresentamos alguns aspectos do dispositivo teórico e analítico da AD da linha francesa. Concluimos que entre as duas extremidades em que se situa a ATD, existem distinções epistemológicas. In the article, with reference to the screening of M. Bulgakov’s play Ivan Vasilievich, the feasibility of utilizing film-intertexts in a foreign language course – particularly in Russian classes for foreign learners – is corroborated, and the principles of selecting them for educational purposes are determined. Screen versions of literary works are viewed as a means of familiarizing foreign students with this book. Furthermore, social discourse (from Latin discursus means “running to and from”, Compact Oxford Dictionary, Thesaurus and Wordpower Guide (2001) denotes written and spoken communications in semantics and discourse analysis. The authors of the article scrutinize L. I. Gaidai’s fiction film Ivan Vasilievich Changes Profession (1973), a screen version of Mikhail Bulgakov’s play, in regard as a film-intertext. Moreover, the authors present a great number of linguistic and cultural resources which are considered as precedential video texts. Herein, discourse serves also as a conceptual generalization of a discourse within each modality and context of communication. Sustainability of social discourse pays an indisputably significant role in the society, and its impact and genesis have long been a distinctive research object of social sciences in order to bring original discourse into the language-learning classroom which becomes a special type of discourse community in which teachers and students ideally become reflective researchers of historical evolution of the target language. Sustainability of social discourse via screen versions of literary works has become a dominant method used in the classes of foreign language teaching for it is a perfect reflection of a social language change in the public sphere and ubiquitous ideal of social change., Straipsnyje analizuojama M. Bulgakovo pjesės „Ivanas Vasiljevičius“ ekranizacija kaip efektyvus užsienio kalbų mokymo metodas. Šiame straipsnyje šis metodas yra pritaikytas konkrečiai rusų kalbos mokymo atvejui. Šiuo tikslu buvo sukonstruotas ir atliktas tyrimas, kuris parodė šio metodo taikymo efektyvumą mokant rusų kalbos Lietuvos karo akademijoje. Šis metodas buvo pasirinktas, nes ekranizuotos literatūros kūrinių versijos mokant kalbų yra vertinamos kaip būdas studentus supažindinti ne tik su rusų literatūros klasika, bet ir su rusų tautos kultūra bei tam tikro laikotarpio kalbos diskursu. Mokantis užsienio kalbos socialinis diskursas yra labai svarbus, nes jis atspindi rašytinės ir šnekamosios kalbos kultūrologinius aspektus per semantiką ir diskurso analizę. Šiuo konkrečiu tyrimo objektu straipsnio autoriai pasirinko sovietinio režisieriaus L. Gaidajaus mokslo populiarinimo komediją „Ivanas Vasiljevičius keičia profesiją“ ir šio filmo interteksto atvejus, kurie yra laikomi precedentiniais vaizdo tekstais. Straipsnyje nagrinėjami ir lyginami skirtingų laikotarpių socialinio diskurso kalbiniai, istoriniai ir kultūriniai šaltiniai. Siekdami intensyviai ir efektyviai mokyti studentus užsienio kalbos, autoriai pabrėžia nagrinėjamo originalaus teksto ir jo ekranizacijos pasirinkimo svarbą, nes ne visi tekstai tinka mokymui ir ne kiekvienas kūrinys gali būti tinkamas perteikti socialiniam diskursui, kuris suprantamas kaip precedentinis tekstas tos kalbos atstovui. Socialinio diskurso tvarumas vaidina neginčijamai reikšmingą vaidmenį originalios kalbos visuomenėje, o jo poveikis ir genezė yra savitas socialinių mokslų tyrimų objektas, siekiant originalų diskursą pritaikyti kalbų mokymosi erdvėje, kuri tampa ypatingu diskursu bendruomenės, kurioje dėstytojai ir studentai idealiu atveju yra reflektuojantys tikslinės kalbos istorinės raidos tyrėjai. Socialinio diskurso tvarumas, naudojant ekranizuotas literatūros kūrinių versijas, tapo dominuojančiu metodu mokant užsienio kalbų, nes jis puikiai atspindi socialinės kalbos pokyčius, vykstančius viešojoje erdvėje.

A framework to critically consider the ecological sustainability messaging in children’s literature is presented to authors, illustrators and editors, as well as teachers, parents and students/children. We have applied this framework to three books from the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2015 Notables list using critical discourse analysis (CDA). Findings suggest that there are themes and images in these award-winning texts that do not support ecological sustainability and we argue that children’s literature should be judged with criteria including ecological sustainability. Our hope is that ecological sustainability principles and practices lead to changes in social discourse through intergenerational storytelling.

This paper analyzes Sakurai Ami’s novel Tomorrow’s Song (1999). The novel is unusual in Japanese literature for its attention to HIV, which even today remains little acknowledged in social discourse. My interest is in the ways in which Sakurai figures the virus vis-à-vis protagonist Akari’s singular devotion to counter-hegemonic ways of living, including drug use, unprotected sex, and alcoholism. My argument is that Sakurai uses HIV to advance a subtle petition for conformity.

In this article, we examine the impacts and effects of the words and terms now related to COVID-19 that have become globally pervasive in social discourse. Illustrating the ongoing interplay between words and politics, we demonstrate how terminologies may shape our interpretations of our experiences and affect the coping strategies we implement. Our arguments draw on Ali’s ethnographic fieldwork on health and illness in Pakistan—primarily on measles and vaccination campaigns in Pakistan’s Sindh province—and his comprehension of local languages and dynamics of power, and Davis-Floyd’s anthropological understandings of the power of language. We argue that using military vocabulary, e.g., “curfew,” “war,” “lock-down,” and the cleverly created “smart lockdown” in Pakistan generates a sense of great “danger” and allows governments to magnify the agency of the virus and to enforce “stringent” measures against its spread. The imported words we discuss herein blur local understandings not only about the virus but also about governmental policies. In contrast, accentuating the importance of local vocabulary, we also argue that local terms, such as “Chilo/â” instead of “Quarantinâ,” would have significantly helped people to make sense of COVID-19 and to take preventive action. We show that becoming conscious about the language used in a pandemic may significantly contribute to efficient ways to contain that pandemic in any country.

Brand mentions on social media platforms are prevalent phenomena today as consumers increasingly share their daily consumptions and experiences online. However, how brand mentions on social media impact evaluations of social media posters or the brands involved remain largely unknown. The current research identifies a novel distinction between two types of brand mentions—direct versus indirect—and explores their influence on audiences’ evaluation of the poster as well as the focal brands. Four experiments demonstrate that direct brand mentions lead to significantly more favorable evaluations of both posters and brands compared with indirect brand mentions and this relationship is mediated by perceived authenticity. Furthermore, we demonstrate that these effects are moderated by tie strength of the social network. The current work makes theoretical contributions to literatures in interpersonal communication, social influence, and social media marketing, and offers practical implications in understanding and managing brand-related social discourse on social media platforms.

The article deals with the methodological interpretation of the phenomenon of wealth that is represented by various philosophical systems: the ideas of Nietzschean philosophy, theoretical models of analytical attitudes, interpretation in certain categories of existentialism and other conceptual aspects. Philosophical thought of the twentieth century that gave a rise to one of the controversial and super critical paradigms – postmodern philosophy.is presented. Exactly within this philosophy the structuralist and poststructuralist discourse is formed. It is a topical issue for postmodern philosophers to conduct the analysis of societies, starting from primitive ones and ending with post-industrial, which presents the implementation of the technology of man’s enslavement by oppression of his affective component, where the system of production and accumulation has become the apogee. Therefore, identification of the metaphysical grounds for the economic cathexis in the modern era has become more relevant than ever. The authors present the analysis of the works of the classics of postmodern philosophy, G. Bataille and M. Foucault, who attempted to reveal and explain the paradox and tragedy of modern man and social relations. The article emphasizes that there is the unresolved question: why diverse related philosophical topics are united within the framework of a single discourse, the discourse of the socio-philosophical interpretation of wealth.

Social criticism is one form of communication in the society that aims or functions as a control of the course of a system or process of society. Instagram has been perceived as one of the most popular social media today. One of the focuses of this research is on one of the photos that President Joko Widodo brought up in his Instagram account. The study aims to examine how the form of social criticism delivered by netizens made in the comments column uploaded by President Joko Widodo. This study employed a qualitative approach to analysis. The data analysis technique used in this study was based on the theory put forward by Teun A Van Dijk’s Critical Social Discourse Analysis. The results of this study found the the background and knowledge of social netizens regarding Jokowi's presidential in the vocabularies of the comments they wrote, and their comments that stimulated other comments from other netizens.

This article looks into how media representations of North Korean defectors reproduce the images of North Korean defectors, while paying particular attention to the contrasting voices of North Korean defectors which reflect self-presentation. The media-perpetuated image of North Korean defectors as displaced victims whose memories are mostly clustered around the oppressive regime fails to grasp the intersection of aspiration, determination, and agency of North Korean defectors. The self-presentation of North Korean defectors reveals that they are eager to be in charge of constructing and controlling their own images, which goes beyond hitherto nationalized, gendered, and ethnicized identities. Self-presentation, at the same time, is a product of strategic choices conditioned by social discourse and media representation.

Esta formación está influida por los valores y actitudes que los docentes universitarios transmiten a los estudiantes, ya sea explícitos o implícitos. Estos valores influirán en la práctica profesional de los futuros docentes, y en los valores del alumnado al que formen a su vez. De ahí su importancia. Mediante la metodología de Análisis Crítico del Discurso se han analizado los discursos del profesorado y alumnado que han participado en entrevistas y grupos de discusión, cuyos resultados se han triangulado con el análisis de las guías docentes de las asignaturas que imparten, de cara a comprender los nexos entre los distintos discursos hegemónicos y las ideas interiorizadas y naturalizadas. Los resultados muestran que los docentes universitarios tienden a reproducir, especialmente de forma implícita, valores y actitudes vinculados al discurso social dominante, marcado por un imaginario económico, social y mental neoliberal, a pesar de expresar de forma explícita el intento de ser críticos con el mismo. En este artículo se analiza el mensaje publicitario de Etiquetas de Orgullo de LATAM Airlines centrándonos en las identidades sociales que son representadas. El objetivo está puesto en examinar, por un lado, la realidad que se construye (“mundo posible”) a partir del discurso publicitario seleccionado y con qué fin, y por el otro, en ver qué visión de “inclusión” propone este discurso. Para el abordaje de esta temática, se proponen dos ejes dentro de la propuesta. Por un lado, desde las perspectivas de Marc Angenot (2010) y Reguillo (2008) se aborda la cuestión del Discurso social y la hegemonía, a partir de las cuales se analizan las identidades sociales representadas y las “silenciadas”. Por otro lado, se aborda la cuestión del mensaje publicitario considerando los aportes de Barthes (2009) y Magariños de Morentín (1991). En estos casos este escrito se centra en ver cómo se construye la visión de “inclusión” que vende la publicidad en estudio. En relación con lo antes mencionado, la pregunta disparadora que guía el proceso de investigación es: ¿la publicidad es inclusiva? A partir del desarrollo de este trabajo, se pudo dar cuenta de cómo la aerolínea LATAM vende un mensaje de tolerancia y respeto hacia la diversidad (LGBT+), pero siempre segmentada y dirigida hacia un grupo reducido de la comunidad LGBT+: homosexuales de clase media alta, excluyendo así otras identidades del colectivo. This paper analyses the LATAM Airlines advertisement message Etiquetas de Orgullo (Pride Labels) and focuses on the social identities represented in it. The paper’s aim is, on the one hand, to examine both the reality built around the selected advertising discourse (“possible world”) and its purpose and, on the other hand, to observe the idea of “inclusion” proposed by this discourse. The approach to the topic consists in two specific axes. In the first place, the problem of social discourse and hegemony is addressed from the perspectives of Marc Angenot (2010) and Reguillo(2008), where social and “silenced” identities are analysed. In the second place, the issue of the advertisement’s message is approached from the contributions of Barthes (2009) and Margariños de Morentín (1991), where we concentrate on how the selected advertisement’s perception of “inclusion” is built. The central question guiding this analysis is the following: Is the tackled advertisement inclusive? This paper demonstrates that LATAM’s message of tolerance and respect for diversity is segmented and directed to a limited upper-middle class group of the LGBT+ population, excluding other social classes within the community.

By relying on Michel Foucault’s theory of social discourse and power/ knowledge where culture, customs and other elements of society are seen as the source of shared knowledge imposed on the individuals, this paper explores the theme of violence in William Faulkner’s novel Light in August (1932) to prove Joe Christmas’ violence as the result of his exposure to the social discourse of the time he lives in, namely the South during the Jim Crow era. The paper proves violence in the novel as mostly connected to the character of Joe Christmas and explores why Joe Christmas, even though the main enactor of violence, is not regarded as a villain but as an anti-hero. The period in which Christmas lives is the Jim Crow South where blackness was regarded as inferior, negative and evil which affects Joe’s self-perception and his actions. Joe, the captive of society, exhibits violence because the only thing he has been thought is to respond with violence. The paper will analyze several parts of the novel connected to Joe Christmas and violence to prove how violence in Faulkner’s novel does not exist per se but serves to prove how damaging the effect of society and social discourse can be., Oslanjajući se na teoriju Michela Foucaulta o diskursu te njegovu proučavanju pojma moć/znanje gdje se kultura, običaji i ostali elementi društva vide kao prenositelji zajedničkoga znanja koje se nameće pojedincima, ovaj rad istražuje roman Svjetlost u kolovozu (1932) Williama Faulknera kako bi pokazao da je nasilje Joea Christmasa rezultat njegove izloženosti diskursu društva u kojemu živi, a to je Jug SAD-a iz doba Jima Crowa. Rad će prikazati kako je nasilje u romanu u najvećoj mjeri povezano s likom Joea Christmasa te istražiti kako on, iako glavni tvorac nasilja u romanu, nije protumačen kao zlikovac nego kao antijunak. Razdoblje u kojemu Christmas živi jest razdoblje kada je biti pripadnik crne rase značilo biti viđen kao inferioran, loš i zao, što je utjecalo na Joeovo viđenje samoga sebe kao i na njegove negativne postupke. Joe, koji je zapravo zatočenik društva, pokazuje nasilje samo zato što je naučen da je ono jedini odgovor. Rad će analizirati nekoliko dijelova romana u kojima se vidi Joeova povezanost s nasiljem kako bi dokazao da ono u Faulknerovu romanu ne postoji bez nekoga cilja niti je senzacionalističke naravi, nego služi kako bi pokazalo koliko može biti štetan utjecaj društva i društvenoga diskursa.

This thesis falls within the research field of end of life. From the 1970s in France, this notion, devoid of a consensual definition, became a societal issue evolving on the controversies related to the opening of a right to euthanasia and on the emergence of a palliative culture. Today, several social representations of the end of life circulate in the public space: contemporary social discourse, saturated by the euthanasia question, legitimizes and conveys an ideal of death without agony, while the eschatological discourse of palliative culture, originally based on Christian humanism, sees the end of life as a period conducive to the fulfillment of existence. Within the hospital institution, these representations participate in the ideological anchoring of oncological and palliative therapies related to supporting the end of life of cancer patients. This research analyzes the extent to which public health policies, hospital communication and nursing practices at the historical, socio-political and ethnographic level, interact in the construction and contemporary evolution of hospital conditions at the end of life of people with cancer. Our theoretical framework draws on the theory of social representations, the theory of social discourse and the interactionist theory of negotiated order. From an empirical point of view, we analyze several typologies of discourse in order to understand how representations of the end of life are constructed and circulated in societal public space. We are also carrying out an ethnographic observation of communication practices within a hospital Center, in order to assess the impact of social representations on the onco-palliative therapeutic alliance at the end of life.; Cette thèse s’inscrit dans le champ de recherche de la fin de vie. À partir des années 70 en France, cette notion, dépourvue de définition consensuelle, est devenue une question sociétale évoluant sur les controverses liées à l’ouverture d’un droit à l’euthanasie et sur l’émergence de la culture palliative. Aujourd’hui, plusieurs représentations sociales de la fin de vie circulent dans l’espace public : le discours social contemporain, saturé par la question euthanasique, légitime et véhicule un idéal de mort sans agonie, tandis que le discours eschatologique de la culture palliative, originellement fondé sur un humanisme chrétien, envisage la fin de vie comme une période propice à l’accomplissement de l’existence. Au sein de l’institution hospitalière, ces représentations participent à l’ancrage idéologique des thérapeutiques oncologiques et palliatives liées à l’accompagnement de la fin de vie des patients atteints de cancer. Cette recherche analyse dans quelle mesure les politiques de santé publique, la communication hospitalière et les pratiques soignantes au niveau historique, socio-politique et ethnographique, interagissent dans la construction et l’évolution contemporaine des conditions hospitalières de la fin de vie des personnes atteintes de cancer. Notre cadre théorique fait appel à la théorie des représentations sociales, à la théorie du discours social et à la théorie interactionniste de l’ordre négocié. D’un point de vue empirique, nous analysons plusieurs typologies de discours afin de comprendre comment se construisent et circulent les représentations de la fin de vie dans l’espace public sociétal. Nous menons par ailleurs une observation ethnographique des pratiques communicationnelles au sein d’un centre hospitalier, afin d’évaluer l’impact des représentations sociales sur l’alliance thérapeutique onco-palliative de la fin de vie.

Modelling and simulation can be used for different goals and purposes. Prediction is only one of them, and, as this chapter highlights, it might not be the main goal—even if it was in the spotlight during the COVID-19 crisis. Predicting the future is a vanity. Instead, we aim to prevent certain events in the future by describing scenarios, or, even better, we try to actively shape the future according to our social, technological, or economic goals. Thus, modellers can contribute to debate and social discourse; this is one of the aims of Digital Humanism.

The right to development is a concept coined in the so-called modern society based on the timing of its debates and the epochs at which attempts are made to actualize it. In essence, the right to development is a recent concept through which world countries are forced to take stock of their capacity to advance human rights, the notion of equality and fairness in the development process of the rights holders. In this chapter, the authors will delve into explaining why the right to development has always been part of Southern Africans even though the terminology thereof was never part of Africans’ social discourse at the time of colonialism. This exploration seeks to illustrate that the knowledge systems of Southern Africans have always held specific ideals of the right to development. Similar nuances of equality, human rights and fairness were actualized in Southern African life for as long as possible. The existence of equality, human rights and fairness in the process of development were all part of African systems long before the adoption of the African Charter on Human and People's Rights and the United Nations Declaration on the Right to Development. The authors’ exploration in this regard aims to eke out the memory on the things that are modernized concerning the right to development, discarding the fact that these (human rights, equality and fairness) aspects have a normal basis for being part of Africans.
