the collection Nobody’s Land by Desanka Maksimovich. The objective of the study is to consider the features of the poetic world of this collection’s author in the context of oral poetry and prose, as well as in the framework of Serbian ethnomythology. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the chronotope and transitional rites, illustrated by individual poems. The poems of the collection appear to readers as a multilayered structure, which due to a layer of oral tradition, leads researchers to the depths of Slavic mythology. It is concluded that the author carefully selects those elements from the folklore corps, which are then included in poetic works. A poetess does not create her poems on their interpretation but integrates them into a new context, developing them, changing and expanding the systems of meanings already established in the traditions. As a result, folklore elements (motifs, symbols, heroes, compositional techniques) gain new connotations but their conceptual core remains. Accordingly, these poems can be considered as a new interpretation of the folklore fund. Desanka Maksimovich becomes a poet reinterpreting and saving the domestic literary and mythological heritage from oblivion. Her attention is focused on those components of folklore and mythological creativity, the meaning of which is firmly preserved in the national as well as in the international corps. Desanka Maksimovich’s poems were created in such a way as to allow the researcher to get to the bottom of their folklore and mythological basis, and this indicates a well-thought-out author’s concept. Tibor Kiraly, a determinative personality in education and research of criminal procedural law for seven decades, celebrated his 100th birthday on 11. July 2020. This long and comprehensive life is not only unique because nobody else from Hungarian criminal lawyers has lived one century, but also because Professor Kiraly has received, rightful, practically each form of professional recognitions. His work and professional attendance is multiple and diversified. He created a new school as legal scholar who helped for several generations to develop a way of thinking and a legal mentality based on humanism. A progressive thinking researcher, who has always been – beside appreciating traditions - more longsighted as his age. In his works – proceeding from scientific historical drafting – he adumbrated a picture of the future, a picture of a legal system ready for renewal. An academic, an organizer of science - who plays an important role also in forming of the community of scholars - showing the way not only for the future generation but also for fellow scholars in Hungary and abroad. A Hungarian legal scholar from the Hungarian uplands, who has done a lot in the frame of the „Bethlen Gabor Foundation” for preserving and enrichment of values of the Hungarians and simultaneously for a peaceful coexistence of the nations in Central-Europe. His life and work can be exemplary for all lawyers.

In Death with interruptions, a work by Jose Saramago first published in 2005, it is narrated a parodic, ironic and allegorical fable, whose main character is death itself, or rather, the “quotidian small death” of people from an unnamed country. This narration begins with the following words: “The next day no one died”. Then, from January 1st of an unknown year, nobody dies in that country anymore. Thus, in order to discuss this fabled story, we propose to develop something that the narrative itself suggests: its relation with Chapter 20, Book I, of Montaigne’s Essays, entitled “That to philosophize is to learn how to die”. Finally, we intend to demonstrate that, in this “untrue story about interruptions of death”, to fabulate is to learn how to die.

This essay is a commentary on the U.S. Federal government response to the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak. The focus is on the response of the Trump Administration during the first 3 months of the outbreak, specifically the period between January 20, 2020, and May 15, 2020. The following question is addressed: To what extent was the strategy implemented by the U.S. federal government guided by evidence-based decisions? While nobody was a COVID-19 expert at the beginning of the outbreak, this being a novel virus, the essay argues that the U.S. federal government failed to use evidence from previous pandemics and natural disasters and from the experience of other countries. In addition, the essay warns of the current lack of consistency in following data generated by U.S. agencies and institutions.

The rapid development of IoT technology has led to the usage of various devices in our daily life. Along with the ever-increasing rise of the Internet of Things, the use of appropriate methods for establishing secure communications in health care systems is vital. The adoption of high-security optimal mechanisms for this purpose has been more effective regarding the efficiency of medical information systems; hence, many studies are being conducted in this field today. One of the most important components is the RFID cards that can be used for communication between entities in the environment. In healthcare systems, patient information is critical and nobody should have access to this information. Thus, providing security for these networks is essential. Recently, good researches have been done in the area of authentication for medical information systems, using RFID technology, which has a low computational cost. In this paper, we propose a novel method based on elliptic curve cryptography for vital and efficient and scalable authentication between RFID cards, card readers, and servers. This proposed method maintains security and has less computational cost and low elliptic curve point multiplication running time compared to similar recent methods.

The deadly coronavirus has made cataclysmic ruinations and sparked massive disruption to global travel and trade. Nobody had ever imagined that a universal, imperceptible, novel enemy of human race would emerge that would bring many parts of the society to a standstill. It has created an alarming situation across globe, and the world is responding to this novel virus with urgency and purpose. This article is a preface of COVID-19 in India.

It seems inevitable from the Islamic History, when in the initial days companions started converted to Islam. Phase wisely, they would be trained for their practical life and mental grooming. İslam dininin ikinci temel kaynağı olan hadislerin, Hz. Peygamber dönemine yakınlığı bakımından kıymetini ifade eden âlî isnâd çeşidi, hadis ehli için büyük önem arzetmekte¬dir. Bu sebeple eserini âlî isnâdlar ile inşa etmiş olan müelliflerin çalışmalarının hadis ilmin¬deki değeri ayrıdır. Bu meyanda örnek olarak gösterebileceğimiz hicri üçüncü asrın telifleri arasında yer alan ve dönemin çalışmalarına kıyasla âlî isnâdlar ihtiva eden Ebü’l-Cehm el-Bâhîlî (öl. 228/842)’nin Cüz adlı çalışması, kimi âlimler tarafından takdir edilse de döne¬minde ve sonrasında ehl-i hadis nezdinde yeterli ilgiyi görmemiştir. Ebü’l-CehmCüz ese¬rinde ehl-i hadis’in, öğrencilerinin ilmini ve hadislerini ihmal ettiğini iddia ettiği meşhur muhaddis Leys b. Sa‘d (öl. 175/791)’dan dinlediği rivayetlere yer vermektedir. Leys b. Sa‘d, yazılı nüshalardan rivayette bulunmakla da tanınan bir hadisçiydi. Cüz’deki Leys b. Sa‘d rivayetlerinin, diğer kaynaklarda da yer alan Leys rivayetleriyle benzerliği, ilk dönemlerde yazılı metinlere istinaden gerçekleştirilmiş rivayet usulünün varlığı iddialarını güçlendir¬mektedir. Bu çalışmada Ebü’l-Cehm’in diğer eserlere yansıyan bu nakilleri incelenecek; ayrıca hocası Leys b. Sa‘d’ın rivayetleri inşa edilmeye çalışılacaktır.Özet: Hicri üçüncü asırda kaleme alınan hadis eserleri, en seçkin kaynaklardır. Hadis alanına münhasır en temel eserler bu dönemde yazılmış, ilerleyen süreçte kıymetlerine binaen üzerlerine sayısız çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Hicri üçüncü asır içerisinde yazılan eserlerden birisi, bu makalenin konusu olan Ebü’l-Cehm el-Bâhilî (öl. 228/842)’ye ait olan Cüz adlı eseridir. Müellif, döneminde pek dikkate alınan bir isim olmamıştır. Bunu, hakkında serd edilen cerh lafızlarına bağlamak mümkündür. Bununla birlikte Cüz eseri, âlî isnadlar ihtiva etmesi hasebiyle dikkat çekmektedir. Sa‘d (öl. 175/791)’ın rivayetlerine yer veriyor olmasıdır. El-Leys b. Sa‘d, hicri ikinci asrın müçtehid imamlarından birisidir. Döneminde etkin ve önemli bir rol oynamış olan Leys’in rivayetlerinden günümüze ulaşanlar oldukça azdır. Bu sebeple Ebü’l-Cehm’nin Cüz’ü, hocası el-Leys b. Sa‘d’ın birçok rivayetine yer veriyor olması hase¬biyle bir başka kıymete daha erişmektedir.Döneminde pek ilgi görmeyen Cüz eseri, ilerleyen süreçte hadisçilerin dikkatini çekmiş olmalıdır ki birçok müellifin, Cüz’ün rivayet hakkını elde ettiği görülmektedir. Aslında dö¬nemi içerisinde bazı isimlerin onun rivayetlerini kullandığı da bilinmektedir. Örneğin Buhârî’nin muallak bir isnad ile Ebü’l-Cehm’e ait olan bir rivayete Sahih eserinde yer verdiği İbn Hacer tarafından beyan edilmiştir. Sonraki dönemlerde Cüz’ün rivayet hakkını alan isimler arasında Ahmed b. Hanbel (öl. 241/855), Taberânî (öl. 360/971), Ebû Bekir el-Mer¬vezî (öl. 292/905), Dârekutnî (öl. 385/995), Beyhakî (öl. 458/1066) gibi meşhur muhaddis¬lere rastlamaktayız. Her ne kadar Ebü’l-Cehm’in rivayetleri, döneminin kayda değer çalış¬malarında yer alsa da, muhaddisler muteber tahammül metodlarıyla Cüz eserinin rivayet hakkına sahip olsalar da, eserin yazılı bir metin halinde mâlik olunmasının ötesinde bir kıymete haiz görülmediği anlaşılmaktadır.Mecrûh bir kimse olan, bu sebeple kimi muhaddislerin itibar etmek istemediği anlaşılan Ebü’l-Cehm’in, tespit edebildiğimiz kadarıyla, temel hadis kaynaklarında 11 hadisi yer al¬maktadır. Bununla birlikte bazı eserlerde Cüz’de yer alan rivayetlerin bir kısmının, aynı sıra ve düzen ile yer alıyor olması, Cüz’ün bu kişiler tarafından nüsha halinde malik olunduğunu göstermektedir. Bu durum Muasır araştırmacı Fuad Sezgin (öl. 1924/2018)’in ortaya koyduğu ilk dönem eserleşmelerinin yalnızca şifahi aktarımla değil, yazılı nüshalar üzerinden de gerçekleştirildiği teorisini güçlendirmektedir. Ebü’l-Cehm, şifahi rivayet dönemi, rıhleler ve hadislerin eserleşmesi hususunda oldukça hareketli bir süreçte yaşamış olmasına rağmen, eserini yalnızca altı hocadan semâ ettiği hadislerden oluşturduğu görülmektedir. Döneminin usulüne uygun olarak ale’r-rical bir tasnife sahip olan eser mu‘cem özelliği göstermektedir. Müellif esere el-Leys b. Sa‘d rivayet¬leri ile başlamış; Süfyân b. Uyeyne rivayetiyle neticelendirmiştir. Eserde 112 rivayet bulun¬maktadır. Muttasıl isnâdların hâkim olduğu eserde iki isnâdın muallak olduğu görülmekte¬dir. Eserin büyük bir çoğunlukta merfû‘ rivayet ve bu sayıya yakın ölçüde de mevkûf rivayet barındırdığı görülmektedir. Eser günümüzde matbu halde bulunmaktadır.Eser birkaç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölüm başlıksız olup Ebü’l-Cehm’in, hocası el-Leys b. Sa‘d’dan aldığı rivayetleri ihtiva etmektedir. Bu rivayetler Leys > Ebu’z-Zübeyr > Câbir b. Abdullah ve Leys > Ebu’z-Zübeyr > Yahyâ b. Ca‘de > Ebû Hüreyre tarikleriyle gel¬mektedir. İkinci bölüm “Nâfi‘nin Abdullah b. Ömer’den rivayetleri” başlığını taşımaktadır. Merfû’, mevkûf ve maktû’ rivayetlerden biri muallaktır ve mübhem bir ravi ihtiva etmekte olup eserdeki diğer isnâdlara göre nâzil bir isnâda sahiptir. Üçüncü bölüm “Sevvâr b. Mus‘ab > Ebû Abdullah el-Hemedânî rivayetleri” başlığını taşımaktadır. Merfû’, mevkûf ve maktû’ rivayetlerden oluşan bölümün tamamı Sevvâr b. Mus‘ab’ın rivayetleri değildir. Kitabın ilk bölümlerinde görülen rivayetlerin intizamî sıralanması bu kısımlarda oldukça sekteye uğ¬ramış gibidir. Nitekim daha ikinci isnâdda Sevvâr’ın bulunmadığı bir rivayet yer almaktadır. Cüz, müellifin Heysem b. Adî, Abdülkuddûs, Abdülazîz el-Mâcişûn ve Süfyân b. Uyeyne riva¬yetleri ile son bulmaktadır. Ebü’l-Cehm’in Cüz eserinde yer alan rivayetlerin bazılarının temel fıkhi hükümlere muarız rivayetler oldukları görülmektedir. Örneğin Allah Resulü’nün ‘Bir ya da iki yudumluk emme haram kılmaz’ sözü, Sübey’a el-Eslemiyye doğum yapınca iddet beklemeden evlenmesine izin vermesi, Osman b. Affân’ın Rubeyyi bint. Muavviz’in boşanmasının ardından iddet bek-lememesine hükmetmesi, İbn Ömer’in burnu kanadığında namazdan ayrılıp yıkayarak geri dönüp kaldığı yerden devam etmesi ve “kimse kimsenin yerine oruç tutamaz, hac edemez” sözü, müşrik kadınlarla evliliği haram olarak nitelendirmesi bunlara örnek verilebilir. Bu rivayetler elbette fıkıh çerçevesinde tetkik edilmelidir fakat Ebü’l-Cehm’in kimi rivayetlerde teferrüd ettiği yönündeki ifadeler de düşünüldüğünde, tüm bunların onun ehl-i hadis nez¬dinde mecruh bir kimse olarak tanınmasının sebepleri olarak görülebilir.Ebü’l-Cehm’in Cüz’ünün el-Leys b. Sa‘d’ın 66 rivayetine yer vermesi hasebiyle, İbn Sa‘d rivayetlerini derlemek için inşa edilmiş eserlerin tamamını geride bıraktığı görülmektedir. Bu sebeple Leys’in Cüz’ünün günümüze ulaşmış bir şekli olduğu yönünde bizde bir kanaat hâsıl olmaktadır. Nitekim İbn Kutluboğa dâhil Leys’in rivayetlerine yer veren hadisçiler, Ebü’l-Cehm’in Cüz’ünü görmezden gelememiş; bilakis onu referans almışlardır. Bu durumda İmam Şâfiî’ye atfedilen ve Leys’in öğrencilerini vefasızlık ile niteleyen söz düşünüldüğünde, Ebü’l-Cehm’in onun vefalı bir öğrencisi olduğunu söylemek mümkündür.

This article examines how residents experience and account for stigma at Claremont Court, a modernist social housing scheme built in Edinburgh in the early 1960s. Although listed as having special architectural interest, the building has been subject to disinvestment and has a mix of residents, including council and private renters as well as owner-occupiers. This article explores micro-distinctions between residents, showing how the categories ‘stigmatiser’ and ‘stigmatised’ are not as rigid as we might expect. It then considers stigmaassociated not with residents but, rather, the building itself, and argues that closer attention to the relationship between the material and social is required in order to understand residents’ complex articulations of belonging. Finally, residents’ views on dirt and rubbish are explored, showing how they use these signifiers of stigma to reveal concerns about shame and respectability. Responding to the call, in vol. 66 issue 4 of this journal, for more sociologicalunderstandings of stigma, this article argues that interactionist approaches offer an important alternative, one that highlights how stigma is negotiated, resisted and apportioned in everyday life. This perspective reveals residents’ practices in interaction with the material environment, as well as the ways in which stigmatisation processes work simultaneously in upward and downward directions, rather than in a unidirectional way.

Scale issues are very meaningful in geography, but nowadays nobody knows how to explain their ubiquitous existence theoretically. Fractality is not an accident for all geographical objects. The aim of this article is to demonstrate to what extent the theory of scale relativity (SR) can be used to solve the problem of geographic scales. With it, we can explain why fractal objects are everywhere. First, we summarize geographic scale position, followed by introducing all tools to understand SR with basic definitions, scale in cartography, how to measure a scale, scales in and from nature, and scale and theoretical geography. Second, we quickly describe the theory of SR. Indeed, it is an elementary geometry around first principles, characterization of scale variables, and scale laws. This article also aims to clarify why geographical objects are non-fractal, in a first calculus, and fractal, in a second calculus with the theory of scale relativity. Third, we will underpin this position through several geographic cases with a karstological example, two urban areas (Montéliard and Avignon), and a hydrographic network and contours of level lines (Gardons). All of them will be carefully analyzed with a fractal analysis. Therefore, we conclude that in this case we are well and truly within the framework of the theory of SR, depending on the results.

After taking into consideration the most relevant criticisms questioning the capacity of the thinking “I” to grasp itself in a transparent and undistorting way, I will ask what remains of first-person authority with regard to one’s own identity. I argue that first-person authority is not to be abandoned, but rather reformulated in terms of public commitments that nobody else can take up in my place. After recovering the original meaning of Heidegger’s claim “one is what one does,” I turn to Arendt’s performative disclosure of the “who” through political initiative and suggest reading the requirement of public exposure as a model allowing for a better understanding of self-identification. In order to discern more clearly the shape of this new paradigm of self-identification, I draw on Ricoeur’s notion of self-attestation, Crowell’s analysis of our “being-answerable” and Larmore’s account of avowals in which we give ourselves a publicly binding shape. In synthetizing and prolonging the considerations of the abovementioned authors about the performative disclosure of the self, I demonstrate that one’s identity—in the sense of ipseity—is both constituted and manifested by the commitments that the self endorses and for which it is held accountable in front of others.

Six months ago, nobody would have thought of a disruption in such a scale. COVID-19 pandemic starting in China spreading across the grids of global human mobility (Sirkeci and Yucesahin, 2020) sent shock waves around the world and quickly brought life to a halt in many countries. Not only the anxiety and fear of a deadly virus spreading around but also the measures taken against it perhaps changed our lives as consumers, marketers, and researchers. The new norm is in progress as the old is troubled. In this issue of the Journal, we have articles dealing with a range of case studies from airline industry to tourism and mobile phone services. We have also included a call for papers for a special issue on coronavirus pandemic and its impact on marketing, markets and consumers.

Karl Popper published, in 1968, a paper that allegedly found a flaw in a very influential article of Birkhoff and von Neumann, which pioneered the field of "quantum logic". Nevertheless, nobody rebutted Popper's criticism in print for several years. This has been called in the historiographical literature an "unsolved historical issue". Although Popper's proposal turned out to be merely based on misinterpretations and was eventually abandoned by the author himself, this paper aims at providing a resolution to such historical open issues. I show that (i) Popper's paper was just the tip of an iceberg of a much vaster campaign conducted by Popper against quantum logic (which encompassed several more unpublished papers that I retrieved); and (ii) that Popper's paper stimulated a heated debate that remained however confined within private correspondence., 17 pages, 1 table. Three score and ten is so 1970s. Today, the average baby born in the UK will live long enough to see the beginning of the 22nd century. Increasingly we also hear claims of longevity breakthroughs that could propel those children - and maybe even their parents - into triple digits and beyond. But is eternal life something we want outside of science fiction? And how will society cope if it is?

One of the specific features of most Far Eastern territories is the extremely poor (at least in comparison with the European areas of Russia) development of the discourse “about migrants”. It remains an element of narrow professional reasoning about migration as a phenomenon. Moreover, it most often refers not to a person who has arrived in the Far East (Khabarovsk Krai), but to a former resident of the region who has left for other places. In relation to people arriving in the region, much more “partitive” terminology is used, in addition, this terminology often does not have an evaluative connotation, in contrast to the concept of “illegal migrant”. In our opinion, the reason for this word usage, which is not quite usual for the whole country, is some peculiarities accompanying creation of a regional community. For the most part of the 20th century and up to now, the region’s population enlarged thanks to migrants. Moreover, due to the multi-ethnic nature of the USSR, these newcomers belonged to very different ethnic groups. Meanwhile, the outflow of the population, which did not stop even in the most prosperous years, led to the fact that every approximately 20 years the composition of the population changed very significantly. As a result, the concepts of discourse “about migrants” have acquired much more complex and differentiated semantics. This essay details some of the challenges I encountered in the fall of 2016, during my class on contemporary migration flows at Queens College, CUNY. The impending national elections, with Donald Trump as the front-runner in the Republican primaries, made for a tense classroom climate. Early in the semester, a handful of my students began voicing opinions that ran counter to the pro-immigrant principles of most of their peers. In more than one instance, students (on both sides) raised their voices to the point where nobody could hear another’s point of view. Through experiential learning projects, I was ultimately able to channel my students’ acrimonious debates into new ideas drawn from data-informed research findings. By the end of the semester, my classroom became a “give and take” arena in which students became compassionate listeners of one another’s opinions and research experiences.

Patient-provider communication is a critical component of healthcare and is associated with treatment quality and outcomes for women with breast cancer. This qualitative study examines similarities and differences in patient perspectives of communication needs between Black and White breast cancer survivors. We conducted four focus groups (N=28) involving women with early-stage breast cancer on adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET), stratified by race and length of time on AET (< 6 months and >6 months). Each group was moderated by a race-concordant moderator and analyzed by emergent themes. Participants expressed common patient-provider communication needs, namely increased sensitivity from oncologists during the initial cancer diagnosis, personalized information to facilitate treatment decisions, emotional support during the transition from active treatment to maintenance, and rapid provider responses to mobile app-based queries. Communication differences by race also emerged. Black women were less likely than White women to describe having their informational needs met. White women praised longstanding relationships with providers, while Black women shared personal stories of disempowered interactions and noted the importance of patient advocates. White women more often reported privacy concerns about technology use. Unlike White women, Black women reported willingness to discuss sensitive topics, both online and offline, but believed those discussions made their providers feel uncomfortable. Early-stage breast cancer patients on AET, regardless of race, have similar needs for patient-centered communication with their oncologists. However, Black women were more likely to report experiencing poorer communication with providers than White women, which may be improved by technology and advocates.

Meta-ethical realism faces the serious epistemological problem of how to explain our epistemic access to moral reality. In the face of this challenge many are sceptical about non-naturalist realism. Nonetheless, there is good reason to acknowledge moral objectivity: morality shows all the signs of a truth-apt discourse but doesn’t exhibit the typical relativity inducing features. This suggests a middle-ground position, a theory that embraces the virtues of realism but does avoid its vices: objectivist antirealism. In this paper, I’ll discuss, mainly following Crispin Wright’s account of moral truth as superassertibility, a promising version of objectivist antirealism and show how to cope with notorious problems, notably those arising from the thought that moral disagreement might be possible in which nobody is guilty of a cognitive shortcoming, which contradicts the antirealist claim that moral truth is not beyond our epistemic reach. The solution is to deny the possibility of cognitively faultless moral disagreement by arguing that cognitively blameless thinkers either agree or stay agnostic and, therefore, never disagree about any moral proposition. Since assuming an agnostic stance on the part of such thinkers contradicts the antirealist’s conception of truth—even within the limits of intuitionistic logic—I’ll propose an alternative logical revision for the moral discourse: a three-valued logic with epistemically construed truth-values.

This article investigates the literary significance of two linguistic devices, repetition and negation, in the fictionalized biography “Northern Lights” by British-Caribbean writer Caryl Phillips, a narrative that focuses on David Oluwale, a Nigerian immigrant to the UK who died as a result of police violence in Leeds in 1969. To recount Oluwale’s story, “Northern Lights” uses a non-linear structure that juxtaposes stylistically diverse material such as eyewitness testimonies, a history of the city of Leeds, administrative documents, and passages featuring an authorial figure who apostrophizes the dead Oluwale. Analysing linguistic patterns found within and across these different textual segments, this article argues that repetition and negation play a key role in generating forms of dialogism that, in turn, implicitly indicate how “Northern Lights” positions itself towards Oluwale and his controversial story. From a more broadly methodological perspective, the article seeks to advance knowledge of how negation and repetition, when jointly studied as pragmatic phenomena, can impact literary strategies of characterization and reinforce a text’s poetic effects.

Compared to other language skills, listening is a language skill that may be ignored and forgotten in English for academic purposes (EAP) classes. Thus, there should be more room for teaching listening in EAP classes. Extensive listening (EL) could be one alternative that English teachers can do to give more room for teaching listening. This paper shares 19 EAP students' perceptions of an EL program. Research data showed that most students have positive perceptions of EL. EL provides a fun but meaningful activity for students. Most of the students agree that EL can improve their listening fluency and vocabulary and exposes them to various English accents. In addition, they stated that EL helped them become more confident to talk to other people in English and they want to do EL in the future although nobody asks them. Therefore, EL is a promising program to be implemented in EAP classes.

These hostage-takers take innocent hostage persons as means of negotiation, which may terrorize everybody, such as an investor, tourist, and vulnerable group, which have a negative impact on the development and peace of the country. Additionally, the right to life is the mother of other human rights. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the practice of hostage situation and its resolution Methodology: Data were collected through document review and interviews of police and victim, who were selected purposively since they have direct relation. This is desktop research and descriptive design. The data were collected through document review and media review. The collected data were analyzed thematically. Finding:The result of the analysis data shows that there is a hostage situation in Ethiopia, and the response of the police is the use of force than the negotiation team. Application:The police should establish a hostage negotiation department with professional negotiators. The governments also should enact negotiation policy and strategy in Ethiopia. Novelty/Originality:There is a hostage situation, and its resolution lacks clear guidelines in Ethiopia, and nobody studied it. Therefore, this study may use as reference material for students'; the government may use it as input for policy and lawmakers.

We present first an outline on Luxemburgish, then on “negators” in this language. Next we examine the opposition between global negation and partial negation. Then in particular we examine the couple net “not” versus keen meaning 1) “nobody” 2) negation. Finally these negators are analysed in context in order to underline their instructions for use.

Several manual bodywork therapies that originated in Asia are related to the theory and practice of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). One of the aims of these therapies is to stimulate specific points on the body called acupoints which are the same points in which needles are inserted in acupuncture. These manual therapies, however, vary in their interpretation and explanation of the theories of TCM, and even more so, in the practical way the stimulation is applied. The aim of this paper is to clarify these differences and show how future research can benefit from specifying the actual techniques used. This paper analyses and compares research papers, textbooks, articles, official definitions and demonstrations of the techniques to highlight the similarities and differences, and examines instances in research in which the techniques were not clearly differentiated. There are many instances in the research literature in which references from one of these practices, or from acupuncture itself, has been used as evidence for other manual therapies conflating the evidence. As far as it is known, nobody has proved that inserting a needle or applying electric stimulation on a specific point on the body has the same physiological effects as pressing with a finger. Nobody has proved that applying stationary pressure has the same effect as kneading that point. However, some research papers seem to use all these techniques interchangeably. Research would benefit from accuracy in the reporting of physiological effects of East Asian manual therapies.

On January, 27, 2017, U.S. President Donald J. Trump issued Executive Order 13769 on immigration and travel (EO 13769), which restricted entry into the U.S. of the citizens of seven primarily Muslim countries. Many academics reacted with outrage, including me and other members of the Academy of Management (AOM), of which I was President at the time. Some scholarly associations condemned EO 13769 as immoral, but the AOM did not immediately issue such a condemnation because the AOM’s Constitution included a policy of no-political-stands (NPSP) and a principle that nobody, including the AOM President, could represent personal views as those of the organization. Within a few weeks, the AOM Constitution was changed, and in October, 2017, the AOM joined other associations in issuing a condemnation. An article was published in this journal on this situation (Tsoukas in J Bus Ethics,https://doi.org/10.1007/s10551-018-3979-y, 2018) that was subsequently amended through a published Correction (Tsoukas in J Bus Ethics,https://doi.org/10.1007/s10551-019-04194-9, 2019), but the Correction only partially addressed the problems in the original. The main contribution of this commentary is to take up the invitation in Tsoukas (2018) to examine the case for insights on theoretical and conceptual questions raised in the literature on prototypicality and moral imagination. It also briefly outlines the most significant omitted errors of fact in Tsoukas (2018) that were not corrected in Tsoukas (2019), and describes the most important methodological problems in Tsoukas (2018). The conclusion suggests that the complex, nuanced, and evolving interactions that unfolded at the AOM are not fully addressed theoretically or conceptually in this literature.

This article compares aspects of the autofictional modes of self-representation at play in Genet’s Journal du voleur [The Thief’s Journal] and Herve Guibert’s Mes parents [My Parents]. Despite their different historical periods of production (1949 and 1986, respectively), each text deploys key aspects of the seemingly autobiographical text (recounting the event of birth, significance of the family name, dawning sense of sexual desire and identity) in order to portray a sense of being at odds with prevailing strictures of belonging and good taste. Despite foregrounding a sense of ‘misfitting’, which is primarily located in experiences of, and related to, gay sexuality, the texts also testify to the enduring appeal and imposed potency of the socially sanctioned desire for straightforward autobiographical selfhood. Introduction. Today, nobody will deny that the main active person in the war is a person who uses weapons and military equipment. Therefore, it is important to study and generalize the experience of organizing measures for the psychological support of the participation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations in the antiterrorist operation in order to further develop a unified system of psychological support for the security and defense sector.Purpose The article analyzes the peculiarities of the organization of psychological support measures at the beginning of the antiterrorist operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. In particular, the peculiarities of the organization of psychological support for the accomplishment of assignments, the psychological training of the personnel of military units that were introduced into the ATO area to cover the state border of Ukraine, retrieval of combat capability of military units.Methods. In the course of work, the following research methods were used: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, monitoring, studying and generalization of experience, description.Originality. The experience of organizing the psychological support of the beginning of the antiterrorist operation was first analyzed and summarized, and a system of organization of psychological support for the execution of the personnel of specific tasks during the antiterrorist operation was determined.Conclusion At the initial phase of the antiterrorist operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions psychological support was provided in 3 directions:1. At the front and the checkpoints.2. In the base camps in the area of antiterrorist operation.3. In areas of combat capability retrieval.Typically, non-staff psychological support groups were sent to troops according to commanders (chiefs) request. First of all these groups were sent to the units which for a long time were under fire, had significant human losses, where there was lowering the level of the moral and psychological condition. The direction of further scientific research, we anticipate the study of the process of retrieval mental functions of personnel through the conduct of psychological rehabilitation.

Ensuring equal liberties requires neutral, i.e. impartial, settings where nobody would be deprived of freedom because of their personal characteristics. Religion and disability appear as characteristics which may clash with the existing social and physical environments. Therefore, the necessity of adjusting the existing environment, i.e., reasonable accommodation, is mostly discussed in reference to religion and disability. I aim to discuss reasonable accommodation from a different perspective and ask whether reasonable accommodation should be extended to age issues. I propose that age can lead to differences in conscience or culture like religion. Age can also be a source of dis/ability so it can be compared to accustomed disabilities. Eventually, age may also clash with the existing social and physical environments. I further propose that age is not only similar to but also different from religion and disability when it comes to reasonable accommodation. Therefore, I defend, reasonable accommodation should be extended to age in a special way. The next question then is how age could be accommodated under the European Union (EU) law, especially when we consider that reasonable accommodation law does not have a wide scope in the EU, unlike in Canada.

The language we use, like many other things such as sun shine, water, air, rain, sound, food …etc is in a rapid change. Different studies and surveys are found about the number of languages that have disappeared in the last 500 years. At an alarming rate, many languages are dying and many others are reviving all over the world, as Crystal (2000: 1) defines language death as “a language dies when nobody speaks it any more” and this idea is close to Campbell’s (1994) view point when he states that “The loss of a language due to gradual shift to the dominant language in language contact situations”. Kurdish language is an example of a minority language as being surrounded by Persian, Turkish, Arabic and some other majority languages such as English. Kurdish language is not apart from many other languages that are in a critical situation whether to revive or die. As the world becomes more connected, language diversity is falling at an unprecedented rate. Globalization is about human contact. Indeed, the continental, and later global spread of certain languages is the clearest long-term evidence of what global contacts have been achieved. Beside its advantage for some languages to help them becoming the dominant language, yet it helps in polluting the minority languages. The present study is a descriptive analytic study. It aims at knowing whether English language, which is a globalized language, is a curse or blessing to the educated Kurdish language speakers in the age of 15-30 at Kurdistan regional government (KRG)/Garmian province. This is by preparing the descriptive and inferential information, the descriptive data including the age, gender and sentences with choosing a Kurdish or English words. The data showed that there is a rapid increase of using and preferring English words in the daily conversations instead of the Kurdish words. The study found that Kurdish speakers at the age of 15-20 years old are using English words in a higher rate than the ages of 21-25 and 26-30, and higher in 21-25 than 26-30 years old.

Bonded labor is the most widespread form of slavery in the world. It is at once the most ancient and most contemporary face of human servitude. In India, 'labor' is more a social category than economics, where the division of labor and laborer is defined according to the caste. The caste system is not a scientific division of labor, which is, after all, necessary for the efficient functioning of any economy. It is an arbitrary, birth-determined hierarchy in which different types of laborers are graded one above the other and subject to a descending scale of civil disabilities that have nothing to do with efficiency or productivity. It is not a division based on choice, as individual sentiment, preference, or even actual skill, have no place in it. Caste slavery was an oppressive, discriminative, and exploitive system which existed in Kerala from an early medieval period onwards. In the social structure of Kerala, the bonded or forced labor system was an unavoidable factor of slavery. As the system of bonded labor was associated with feudalism, land-based social relations were formed in the state. The oozhiyam or bonded labor system, therefore strictly connected with the caste oriented slavery in Kerala. Under the system of oozhiyam, the economically under-privileged servants were obliged to render bonded services on all days of the week as required by the government officials and the higher castes. The main force behind this system was the coercive authority of the government and the privileged class. Nobody dared to evade the services demanded by the government. Only on the days of the oozhiyam services, the laborers received a minimum quantity of food to keep their body and soul together. This essay mainly focuses on the ameliorating activities of the Christian missionaries, such as the London Missionary Society (LMS) and Church Missionary Society (CMS), among the oppressed sections of the society of Kerala. In addition to the social legislations of the government, the intervention of Christian missionaries also helped in the permanent abolition of the system of oozhiyam in Kerala.
