The contemporary Chinese tea culture research is a new academic field that has emerged following the reform and opening-up. Throughout more than 40 years of exploration, it has achieved fruitful research results which have helped fuel the burgeoning of tea culture. It ’ s worth thinking deeply about how to transform and promote the study of tea culture in the new era with a view to better leading the overall development of tea industry and tea science and technology. In response to existing problems and deficiencies, this paper analyzes and considers various dimensions of tea culture research such as its nature, positioning, orientation, theory, method and path, and puts forward a new proposition to constructing a great pattern of tea culture research in the new era. Shamanic culture, which adheres to the worldview of connecting earth and heaven, has been marginalized in the discourse of the modern material world and separated from mainstream society. However, with the increase in personal problems in civil society and the rise of regional cultural identity since the reform and opening up in China, shamanic practitioners have again become active. Adapting to the official ideology, shamanic culture has emerged in China as a new form of folk culture and cultural heritage. Using Michael Herzfeld’s theory of “cultural intimacy” to a limited extent, this paper regards the new image of the shamanic tradition that has appeared in the new era as a manifestation of “cultural intimacy”, which does not infringe the authority of official discourse, nor damage the interests of government departments, and is in line with the imagination of official discourse about culture. Within the shaman cultural community, the shamanic tradition continues to connect earth and heaven, helping to solve difficult personal problems, alleviating the pressure of the material world, and at the same time making the sacred expression of the members of the shaman cultural community possible. In this way, the shaman tradition, which has emerged in a new image since the new era, has maintained the ecological balance between government and folk practices and formed a more stable pattern of cooperation.

This research is one of the very few studies that seeks to examine the association between China's industrial development and its energy sustainability. It does so by discussing the impact of industrialization on energy security in the new era, during which the focuses of industrialization and energy security in China have changed. The former has shifted from quantity-based expansion to quality-based growth, while the latter has shifted from supply security to comprehensive security, including matching security. Since researchers have paid little attention to evaluations of industrialization and energy security from the perspective of the new era, this study aims to address this gap. An empirical study on the impact of industrialization on energy security is conducted, taking 30 provinces in China as research objects. The findings show that China's energy supply security and consumption security have improved but that its matching security has deteriorated, which will eventually lead to an overall deterioration in energy security. Industrialization, however, can improve levels of energy security, supply security, and consumption security. Moreover, green technology efficiency and the capital–labor ratio both can improve levels of energy security and supply security, the former can also improve the level of consumption security and the latter can also improve the level of matching security. In contrast, an increase in GDP per capita inhibits energy security, supply security, consumption security, and matching security. This study will be helpful for policymakers seeking to resolve the issue of energy sustainability in the context of industrialization in China's new era. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WOMEN'S empowerment , *GENDER differences (Sociology) , *MATE selection , *SOCIAL development , *POPULATION policy , *SOCIAL change , *SOCIAL influence - Abstract
With the change of social environment and the influence of multiple values, the concept of love of postgraduates in universities in the new era has changed greatly compared with that of postgraduates in the middle and late 20th century. Post-graduates’ concepts of marriage and love have an important impact on the implementation effect of China's new population policy (three child policy). Through the questionnaire survey on postgraduates in Hubei province, the concept of love of male and female postgraduates in colleges is comprehensively displayed from the five aspects of love status, love attitude, love motivation, mate selection standard and marriage concept. It is found that there are great differences in the love views of male and female postgraduates. This paper mainly analyzes the reasons for the differences of love views between male and female postgraduates in universities from the four aspects: the empowerment of women by social development, the pressure of love consumption, the differences between male and female gender culture and the influence of family and marriage ideas. It suggests to optimize the cultivation environment of social love concept, strengthen the education of love concept in universities, and enhance the self-education of postgraduates, so as to guide postgraduates to form a correct love concept, actively pursue love, improve their ability to love, and achieve a happy marriage. 122. Legal Incentives for National Fitness in the New Era: Text Inspection, Concept Interpretation, and Institutional Innovation.

- Abstract
There are many provisions of legal incentives in China's current national fitness laws and regulations, which play a certain incentive role. However, in the new era, there are still some problems in the incentive object, incentive scope and incentive measures in terms of fully implementing the national strategies of "national fitness" and "Healthy China" to help develop China into a leading sporting nation. Therefore, we should uphold the system innovation concepts of humanism, substantive justice, and social standard. Al the same time, we need to carry out specific system innovation in three aspects: clear incentive objects, expanded incentive scope and detailed incentive measures, so as to continuously consolidate the foundation of the "rule of China" of national fitness, protect the fitness rights and interests of the people, and allow the achievements of the reform and development of the national fitness cause to benefit everyone more equally. At the same time, it provides Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions for building a healthy China, developing a healthy and powerful nation, and building a community of human health. - Abstract
As an important part of higher education, university sport competitions play an important role in serving the new mission of higher education in the new era. This study analyzes the main problems existing in China's university sport competitions: the qualification for participating in sporting events is limited; the level of competition is limited; the number of sports and events is insufficient; some competitions have a low degree of organization, and the level of competition of universities from different regions is unbalanced. These problems reflect the unclear positioning of the core value of China's university sporting events, and the classification management system for such events needs to be optimized. The article then expounds the core values of university sporting events in the new era: "professionalism, innovative pursuit, social integration, self-confidence and tenacity, tolerance and diversity". Sport is expected to help achieve "sound physical and mental health" for university students. The goal is to cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intellectuality, physical fitness, beauty, and labor, to cultivate people in the new era who dare to strive for the first and dare to surpass themselves, to develop a unique university sporting culture and to increase young athletes for the future. The article puts forward the basic principles that should be followed in the reform and innovation of China's university sport competition system in the new era: competitions should be open, and we should break the identity restrictions so that everyone has an opportunity; competitions should be held for shared benefits and start from the grass-roots level to create opportunities everywhere; competitions should be coordinated, and we should adhere to the overall balance so that every university has the motivation; competitions should be green, and we should use sporting culture to shape people. This study also explores the reform path of China's university sport competition system in the new era: a new three-level sport competition system for university students--"university level, provincial/league/district level and national level"; "three-level sport competition regulations"; "a competition management system based on unified administration and three-level linkage". This study is expected to help better fulfill the higher education mission of strengthening moral education to cultivate people and to facilitate university sports' taking on the responsibility of cultivating people via sports. In this speculative look of design thinking through the lens of the Renaissance, the author draws our attention to the shocking similarity between the transition in today's world and the Industrial Era. In this comparison, he emphasizes the similar role of “arts in Renaissance” concept and Design Thinking. In this perspective, the author's concern is not about discussing how the Design Thinking process will be in the new era, but just speculating its role as a tool in such a transitional period.

Water is essential for the sustainable development of human society. With the largest population and rapid economic development, water usage and treatment in China have grown tremendously in the past decades. In order to prevent water pollution, the standards for wastewater effluent discharge in China have been gradually developed and implemented since 1973. After the rapid development during over 40 years, numerous milestones have been achieved in terms of infrastructure coverage, standard and policy system establishment, and technological innovations. In this article, we reviewed the development history and the current status of the wastewater treatment in China, including the generation of wastewater, the construction of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), the overall treatment performance of WWTPs, as well as the developments in effluent discharge standards. In addition, we highlighted the challenges lying ahead in the aspects of influent concentration, sludge disposal and water reclamation. Based on the achievement and foundation built in the past, the new era of wastewater treatment of China is on the way, in which water reclamation, wastewater treatment in rural areas and resource/energy recovery from sludge are becoming the main tasks.

This paper contends that China higher education has become one of the most attractive academic hubs for citizens of developing and developed nations. Empirical evidences show that the opening up policy and the spread of Confucius institutes in the world support China higher education breakthrough. More importantly linguistic tolerance that is practiced during the selection process of international students and officials to undertake short or long exchange programs in Chinese institutions may account for the rapid internationalization of China higher education. The researcher has used content analysis of grants and scholarship offers to Chinese universities, related policy papers and statements to discover that the Chinese government gives a place of choice to students and workers of developing countries through the medium of many English-taught programs at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. In addition, the researcher has used the interview to collect some data from scholarship awardees. This was done in a bid to find out their impressions about English language requirements to be fulfilled by candidates for the award of various scholarships and short training programs in Chinese universities. The analysis of interviewees’ verbatim strongly supports the claim that China higher education attracts more talents thanks to more tolerant and flexible linguistic requirements applied during the selection process. Owing to this new vision of higher education in China, it is recommended that more top ranking universities in the West, which use English as foreign or second language, must emulate China example and offer more flexible linguistic requirements for English-taught programs to talents from developing nations. This will undoubtedly foster academic mobility and inclusive development of the world in this new era.
