BackgroundBurns are devastating injuries, carry significant morbidity, and require long-term treatment or multiple reconstructive procedures. Wound healing and secondary insults caused by burn wound conversion are amendable to therapeutic intervention, where ischemia has been cited as one of the major factors (Dermatol Surg. 2008;34:1159-1169). Halting injury progression in the zone of stasis is crucial as conversion creates increased burn surface area and depth, leading to local and systemic consequences (J Burns Wounds. 2006;5:e2). Oxygen-carrying micro/nanobubbles, MNB(O2), offer a novel technology that can be used to effectively deliver oxygen to burn wounds and potentially counteract burn wound ischemia.MethodsTopical irrigation with MNB(O2) of full-thickness burn wounds on a rodent model (n = 3) was compared against saline-treated controls (n = 3). Tissue structure (reduced scattering coefficient, μs'), oxyhemoglobin concentration (cHbO2), and tissue perfusion were quantified over the course of 28 days through spatial frequency domain imaging and laser speckle imaging. Histological samples taken at the end of the experiment were examined for evidence of wound healing.ResultsFindings in this preliminary study showed hastened healing with significant differences in spatial frequency domain imaging-measured μs' during wound healing (days 11-28) in MNB(O2) group. The healing "tipping point" seemed to occur at days 9 to 11 with increased collagen organization and increased cHbO2 occurring around that period confirming the gross healing improvements observed. In addition, histological evidence indicated that only the MNB(O2) burns had reached the remodeling phase by the end of 28-day study period.ConclusionsThese preliminary findings propose the potential of MNB(O2) as a topical method for improving burn wound healing.

Micro, small, and medium-sized firms (MSMEs) are required to be highly competitive so that they may thrive in unpredictable markets and contribute to economic growth despite several challenges such as financing, market access, innovation, and productivity. Through the Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) program at Parahyangan Catholic University, Batch 6, the writing team provided training (workshops) and mentoring (coaching) to MSMEs in Bandung Regency. The major goal of the SCORE program is to help SMEs in Bandung Regency enhance their competitiveness so that they may use their own resources to achieve productivity and expand their competitive edge. The workshop program is implemented with topics such as teamwork and communication, increasing business productivity, financial records, determining the cost of goods sold (HPP), the use of promotional media, and increasing marketing understanding, while personal assistance is provided through visits to MSME production sites at least three times during the program. At the end of the program, there was a rise in MSMEs' development, indicating that 100% of MSMEs had participated in the provision and execution of information boards, HPP calculations, product innovation, and optimization of social media as a promotional medium. This success can help SMEs grow their capabilities, particularly in tackling some of the issues they confront, such as marketing, productivity, accounting, and budgetary restraints. With the settlement of these issues, the next step in strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs, aided by SCORE UNPAR in Bandung Regency, may be taken.

AbstractWhile access to finance is a key link between economic opportunity and economic outcome, it remains a major barrier for aspiring entrepreneurs. The current research aims to conduct an in-depth case study of Assadaqaat Community Finance (ACF), a unique UK-based community finance institution with the objectives of addressing the global challenges of financial exclusion and social and economic inequalities through entrepreneurship and self-employment. ACF offers free professional training using an innovative and ground-breaking financial model based on Islamic financial principles via the ACF Cycle of Shared Prosperity framework. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 participants including beneficiaries, benefactors and founders to explore the impact of ACF training, advice and mentoring and access to interest-free and debt-free finance in helping participants overcome the challenges and develop feasible business plans for their micro, small and medium enterprises. The results suggest that the beneficiaries are happy and become financially independent within 3–6 months, resulting in the transformation of beneficiaries into benefactors as they are able to contribute back to ACF. We highlight the transformational nature of this unique institutional business model and its applicability for existing Islamic MFIs, allowing them to make a clear contribution to development of sustainable communities. We also argue that the ACF financial model offers a sustainable solution to overcome global challenges and contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Regional developments in global competition have demanded efforts to increase competitiveness through avoiding the occurrence of a high cost economy that has been complained about so far, due to the slow government bureaucracy which always demands greater costs than the service bureaucracy itself, for example through licensing facilities, to create efficiency for optimal resource utilization, in the context of building the birth of a perfect market mechanism. Market failure can be avoided by formulating licensing norms. Increasing regional competitiveness and absorption of regional income in the investment sector through the implementation of the Online Single Submission Risk Based Approach (OSS RBA) System Policy for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), for this reason, every business activity has a direct impact on modifying the policy format model, including institutional structure, and related to business service platforms, for the Central and Regional Governments. At the level of local policies, this is not an easy problem, in an effort to accommodate these interests, in the era of global competition. The effectiveness of the implementation of the RBA OSS System Policy by Regional Governments, as well as how to overcome obstacles to the policy are very interesting to analyze, regarding MSME Actors who experience limited conditions, in terms of capital, mastery of technology and market share. The method used to analyze is doctrinal (normative juridical), on the approach of the concept of law as written law in the form of statutory texts, which are built by local government regulations. The research findings state that the Regional Government, that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises still need assistance to register permits, in terms of the RBA OSS System Policy in the mission of optimizing the policy, massive socialization must be carried out to the community, especially MSME actors, to increase information on the importance of this policy. In the end, the business actors in question no longer make mistakes in relation to determining the choice of categorization of Micro Small and Non-Small Micro Enterprises. This policy model is directly very influential in efforts to improve the efficiency of public services, and avoid the high cost economy that occurs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Assistance and empowerment is carried out for the perpetrators of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of honey products in the Ciburial Tourism Area. The advantage of Ciburial Village is that it has a village website. The problems faced by businesspeople are low sales volume; the hosting capacity of the village web is still limited only for tourism promotion; and the community, especially businesspeople, are still not used to using the web. This is due to the limited information related to the marketing process of profitable finished products and businesspeople have not utilized the application of information technology as a marketing strategy for market expansion. Assistance and empowerment are carried out through training in creating websites and registering their products in several marketplaces. With the help of the training carried out, businesspeople have been able to create and have websites to introduce their products to consumers by registering in the marketplace. Furthermore, they were also able to maintain the website and marketplace that they already have so that they can be used all the time in order to increase profitable sales volume and increase the income of these businesspeople. Background: Stunting is one of the undernutrition outcomes commonly reported in LMICs. It results from chronic or recurrent undernutrition and is associated with social determinants. Indonesia has promoted various programs to reduce and prevent stunting. The programs tend to not be gender-responsive with no existence of gender analysis on the programs. Purpose: To analyze the intersectionality of gender with other social determinants of stunting, transforming into any stunting program barriers within the health system. Methods: This narrative review was conducted using original research articles on the Scopus database. Two independent reviewers performed review selection and characterization. We grouped the identified gender intersectionality and constraints imposed on stunting programs based on three-levels of health systems. Results: There were 19 papers included in this literature review. Two main messages were identified. First, gender has a different impact on any health program. It interacted with other social determinants in shaping the risk of being stunted. Second, the gender intersectionality will be different for each level of health system. Conclusion: Gender intersects with different social determinants in each level of the health system. The impact of gender intersectionality with other stunting determinant stunting is identified. Hence, stunting is not gender neutral. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Detecting O2 gas in a confined space at room temperature is particularly important to monitor the work process of precision equipment. This study aims to propose a miniaturized, low-cost, mass-scale produced O2 sensor operating around 30°C. Design/methodology/approach: The O2 sensor based on lanthanum fluoride (LaF3) solid electrolyte thin film was developed using MEMS technology. The principle of the sensor was a galvanic cell H2O, O2, Pt | LaF3 | Sn, SnF2 |, in which the Sn film was prepared by magnetron sputtering, and the LaF3 film was prepared by thermal resistance evaporation. Findings: Through pretreatments, the sensor's response signal to 40% oxygen concentration was enhanced from 1.9 mV to 46.0 mV at 30°C and 97.0% RH. Tests at temperatures from 30°C to 50°C and humidity from 32.4% RH to 97.0% RH indicated that the output electromotive force (EMF) has a linear relationship with the logarithm of the oxygen concentration. The sensitivity of the sensor increases with an increase in both humidity and temperature in the couple mode, and the EMF of the sensor follows well with the Nernst equation at different temperatures and humidity. Practical implications: This research could be applied to monitor the oxygen concentration below 25% in confined spaces at room temperature safely without a power supply. Originality/value: The relationship between temperature and humidity coupling and the response of the sensor was obtained. The nano-film material was integrated with the MEMS process. It is expected to be practically applied in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The selection of suitable materials as components of the drilling fluid remains the primary concern of the mud engineer. Micro and nanomaterials represent dense and effective complementary additives to the drilling fluid. In this paper, both micro silica and Nano silica were used in order to find the effect of each on the properties of drilling fluid in general and filtration in particular. Where the results showed that each of them has an effective and different role in improving the properties of drilling fluids in general and filtration in particular. although they are one material, but nanotechnology has contributed to making Nano-silica more efficient and effective than micro-silica. Both materials reduce the permeability of the mud cake and reduce the volume of the filtrate, as well as increase the viscosity, yield point and gel strength. As for density and acidity, fine silica had the biggest effect. Where it can be used as a heavy material, as well as the effect of adding micro silica on the PH value has been studied, as the results prove that the proportion is direct. As for Nano silica, it did not have a significant effect on the density or the pH. The results showed that Nano-silica is the most efficient for reducing filtration, followed by CMC, then PAC, then micro-silica It was found that if the percentage of addition was 25%, the filter volume value is as follows: 0.5 cc for Nano silica, 1.9 cc for CMC, 2 cc for PAC and 3 cc for micro silica. The addition of Nano-silica gave a cohesive clay cake with a permeability of 1.84, five times lower than what was provided by PAC for a 25% addition ratio. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT A significant portion of the current knowledge regarding the use of iron nanoparticles for remediating metal-contaminated soils is derived from laboratory experiments, leaving several unanswered questions. This article presents a field experiment comparing the efficacy of magnetite nanoparticles and microparticles for the immobilization of metals and the growth of plants in metal-contaminated soils. This study aimed to investigate the effects of magnetite particle size on metal immobilization and plant growth in soils exposed to airborne pollution from the Middle-Urals Copper Smelter in the southern taiga subzone near Revda, Russia, 50 km from Ekaterinburg. Magnetite nano- and microparticles were added to forest litter at a 4 % w/w dose. The total metal contents in litter from the study plots were 1-2 orders of magnitude higher than background metal concentrations. The magnetite nanoparticle treatment was found to decrease the concentration of exchangeable copper in soil and improve the growth of red fescue (Festuca rubra L.) on polluted soil compared to the control. In contrast, magnetite microparticles did not show any statistically significant effects. These findings are in line with laboratory results that demonstrated the superior metal adsorption properties of magnetite nanoparticles compared to microparticles. However, this study was limited in duration (2 months), and longer field studies would be necessary to confirm the role of iron particle size in the rehabilitation of metal-contaminated soils.

This research examined the effects of micro-straight steel fiber percentage and column form on the punching shear of SFRC slabs. Fibers made of micro steel with a diameter of 0.2 mm and a length of 13mm with an aspect ratio equal to 65 were used. The fiber content varied between 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% by volume. Four different types of concrete mixes were adopted and tested. Experimental results showed that when the percentage of steel fibers in SFRC increased, its compressive strength, flexural strength, splitting tensile strength, and direct tensile strength improved. This investigation applied a monotonic load to eight cast slabs (two each of conventional concrete of square and circular column sections of the equivalent area while the other six slabs were made with steel fiber concrete. The dimensions of each slab were (920 x 920 x 80 ) mm. Each slab specimen had essential, edge-based support with square and round column sections. It has been demonstrated that slabs with square column sections endured a relatively higher ultimate load than slabs with circular column segments when the steel fiber dosage was 0.5% or 1.0%. Still, at a steel fiber dosage of 1.5%, circular column segment slabs approached the ultimate load of square column segment slabs. The heterogeneous behavior in concrete can be attributed to the random and unequal distribution of steel fibers throughout the material. There were only flexural fractures visible on the tensile face of the slab. New fractures emerged in the center of the slab as the load increased.

This review of the literature explores the potentials of liquid micro-/mini-channels to reduce operating temperatures and make temperature distributions more uniform in batteries. First, a classification and an overview of the various methods of battery thermal management are presented. Then, different types of lithium-ion batteries and their advantages and disadvantages are introduced, and the components of batteries are described in detail. The studies conducted on the performance of micro-/mini-channels for cooling all types of rectangular and cylindrical batteries are reviewed, and the key finding of these studies is presented. It is shown that, in general, using counterflow configuration creates a rather uniform temperature distribution in the battery cell and keeps the maximum temperature difference below 5 ∘ C . The lowest battery maximum temperature is obtained for parallel and counterflow configurations in the straight and U-turn channels, respectively. In a parallel configuration, the peak point of the battery temperature is in the outlet area. However, in the counter-flow configuration, it occurs in the central region of the battery module. The survey of the literature further reveals that proper channel paths and flow configurations keep the battery maximum temperature within the safe range of 25 ∘ C < T max < 40 ∘ C . For such flow configurations, the pressure drop remains minimally affected. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MSMEs in India play a substantial role in the growth of country's economy, contributing 30% to its GDP. The Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises or MSMEs in India employees over 11.10 crore people and facilitates in employment generation. These enterprises are involved in the production of over 6000 different items, showcasing their diverse range of economic activities. However, despite their significant contributions, Indian MSMEs face a major obstacle in the form of lack of finance. Along with the financial problem, due to many other challenges, micro-enterprises are struggling for their growth and development. To overcome the problem of financial support, the Government of India launched the MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) Scheme to provide financial assistance and support to MSMEs on April 8, 2015. The seven sister states are the neighboring states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripurain north eastern India. However, the region has a blessed strategic location and abundant resources with specialties of production from each state. Indeed, the people of the region can take advantage to a greater extent by utilizing the available resources and promoting the MSME. Thus, This research paper aims to critically evaluate the performance of the MUDRA scheme in India since its inception. Additionally, the paper aims to evaluate the state-wise number of accounts and disbursement amount under Shishu, Kishore and Tarun under Mudra Scheme across all 7 Northern East states of India. The study covers the period from 2015-16 to 2021-22. The analysis is based on secondary data, collected from the annual report of 2022-2023 generated by the Ministry of MSME, GOI. The application of ANOVA demonstrated a significant difference in the average number of accounts under Shishu, Kishore and Tarun under the Mudra Scheme across all 7 Northern East states of India from 2015-2016 to 2021-2022. Conversely, the analysis did not indicate a significant difference in the Average disbursement amount under Shishu, Kishore and Tarun under MUDRA Scheme across all 7 Northern East states of India during 2015- 2016 to 2021-2022. Research on the effect of profit-sharing on large-scale enterprise productivity has been done in many countries. But previous study found an inconsistent results, that is profit sharing is not significantly influence productivity of MSMEs. This research aims to deepen more about the reason is this profit-sharing in its application have or don't have a significant impact in increasing productivity of Micro and Small Enterprises in Indonesia. The qualitative research method used in this research is through indepth interview techniques to seven respondents who are MSME entrepreneurs in the manufacturing sector with product types that vary between respondents. The purpose of this interview is to gather information about the system of wages and distribution of bonuses in MSMEs, which have different characteristics from large industries in general. The interview results show that there is profit sharing in Indonesia MSMEs, but it is not considered as financial compensation or work bonus that leads to the next performance target. However, most of them interpreted as "kindness" from MSME owners in form of financial or nonfinancial benefits. This research brings research implication that profit sharing on MSMEs are unique and can be applied in many forms. Even though in previous quantitative study, profit sharing is stated as not significantly influence the MSMEs productivity and performance, In some cases, profit sharing is proven to increase the motivation and loyalty of employees. We use Helianthemum oelandicum subsp. oelandicum as a model for studies of mechanisms shaping the diversity in a rapidly radiating lineage of the H. oelandicum aggregate. Locally, correlations between drainage conditions (using GIS to measure variation in the micro-topography on the more or less horizontal bedrock) and frequency of alleles of Mendelian genes for pubescence indicated that hairs are markers of adaptation to the unique environmental conditions (drought and periodic flooding) on the alvar habitats of Öland. An allozyme study showed that 1 and 4% of the genetic diversity is partitioned among two varieties and natural populations, respectively. F ST for hair alleles was up to ten time greater than F ST for allozymes. Öland rose above sea level after the LGM, which makes it possible to date the onset of the post-glacial diversification on the island. Only two, mainly allopatric, plastid DNA haplotypes were detected, H1 and H2. The southern Helianthemum oelandicum subsp. oelandicum var. canescens has only H1, whereas the more widespread var. oelandicum possesses both haplotypes. A restricted occurrence of haplotype H1 in the core area of var. oelandicum in the central Öland, coincided with the highest elevation on the island, probably representing the post-glacial arrival of the species on the island. The Jak preneur Program is one of Dinas PPUMKM's most successful MSME empowerment and development initiatives in Jakarta. MSMEs are critical to the global economy, contributing to job creation, innovation, and economic growth. However, they frequently face challenges in effectively harnessing and utilizing their knowledge assets to drive competitiveness, particularly for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta). This study investigates the implications of knowledge management in a government organization's Jak preneur program under the supervision of Dinas PPUKM (Provincial Government Department of Industry, Trade, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises). Furthermore, the study's findings will help MSMEs overcome the lack of knowledge-based growth barriers. This thesis investigates the concept of knowledge management (KM) in the context of public government organizations. The goal of this study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of Knowledge Management practices in government organizations, examining current approaches, challenges, and potential strategies and frameworks for improvement. The study employs a qualitative approach that includes in-depth interviews and focuses on group discussions (FGD) with multiple perspectives from MSME owners, managers, mentors, and facilitators in order to identify knowledge gaps, which will be classified into four categories: people, processes, technology, and governance. Each stakeholder is expected to participate in the knowledge management process, accelerating the organization's goal of raising the standard of its MSMEs. The study's findings can help policymakers, MSME practitioners, and researchers design and implement effective knowledge management initiatives. The proposed system is intended to be used to clarify the management of Dinas PPUMKM (Provincial Government Department of Industry, Trade, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises), including not only roles and responsibilities but also how the knowledge management system can improve the company's day-to-day performance. This paper focused on the assessment of governance risks and its effects to employee retention of service-based businesses in Laguna, Philippines. The study exclusively adopted the governance risks from LaConte’s Strategic Risks Model and Job Embeddedness’ Theory for employee retention. Descriptive research and purposive sampling were employed with 360 retrieved questionnaires. The questionnaire used in this study were subjected to reliability testing with acceptable to good internal consistency. Data were evaluated using statistical tools of frequency, rank, mean, weighted mean and ANOVA. The highest governance risks experienced by business owners during the pandemic in relation to planning is the suspended implementation of goals and objectives while in terms of monitoring and control, unpreparedness on future risks was ranked first. Management support to the professional needs of its employees is significant for reduced turnover of employee retention. Moreover, for the employee productivity, involvement of the employees to the business planning got the highest mean. Planning, and monitoring and control have strong significant difference when grouped according to service sector while under employee retention, reduced turnover is significantly different when grouped according to profile factor. However, the employee productivity showed only strong significant difference in service sector. The study suggested that LGUs may develop a program for governance management and employee empowerment program to aid the recovery programs for service-based businesses.

Understanding distribution of nanoparticles across a tumour is important for theranostic applications. However, many biological barriers need to be overcome to accumulate nanoparticles across a tumour, and where testing can be expensive and time consuming. The work presented is aimed towards developing a fast prototyped testbed for the screening of nanoparticle distributions. The tumour-on-a-chip device was designed to be low cost and accessible to researchers using 3D printed microfluidic moulds compared to tradiational microfluidic fabrication. The validation of diffusion was performed using simulations and experiments demonstrating particles experiencing Brownian motion. Furthermore, a hydrogel environment was loaded over 16 hours replicating a tumour-like environment based on dynamic viscosity. An image processing algorithm was developed for continuous analysis providing novices with a one-click analysis. The image processing algorithm aided in alignment, reducing illumination fluctuations as well as quantifying nanoparticle penetration distances. Three thresholds were investigated counteracting illumination fluctuation measuring similar penetration depths within a hydrogel environment. Further comparison of penetration depths was made between 20nm, 40nm, 40nm streptavidin and 100nm FluoSpheres® within a 4% gelatin methacrylate hydrogel. Sub- and super-diffusion correlated with hydrogel heterogeneity and nanoparticle penetration depths. Significance of 12µm between 20nm FluoSpheres® nanoparticles, 13µm ± 6, and 100nm FluoSpheres® nanoparticles, 0µm depth (p < 0.05). Additionally, a protocol was presented to characterise hydrogel porosity and interconnectivity. The permeability of a hydrogel is important for the transport of nutrients and oxygen for cell growth and survival. The proposed method does not introduce artefacts unlike freeze drying techniques. Also, this method preserves a biological relevant hydrogel. The method was tested with poly(ethene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) and bio-ink (alginate pluronic solution) hydrogels. The method is low cost and directly measures the permeability of a hydrogel. The use of the tumour-on-a-chip allows for bio-engineers to test a variety of nanoparticle designs. Further work is required to validate the correct the threshold to measure nanoparticle depths. Currently the tumour-on-a-chip screens nanoparticle distributions in time but requires 3D images to validate the diffusion space. The continuous measure over time allows for measuring sub- and super-diffusive processes. Changing hydrogel porosity and interconnectivity will change nanoparticle diffusion. The novelty of the device aims to bridge the gap between in vitro and in vivo experiments improving nanoparticle therapies. The advances will aid in personalised medicine tailoring medicines to individual tumour environments.

In the machining process, it is difficult to solve problems due to the relationship between productivity and quality, for example, as the productivity increases, the quality of reprocessing may decrease. Some methods only address specific objectives, such as the quality of the machining method, the machining productivity, the quality, or even the cost. Electrical discharge machining (EDM) and micro-EDM are most commonly used for processing the surfaces of die and moulds. The amount of electrode wear in micro-EDM has a direct effect on the dimensional accuracy of the machined hole. Therefore, improving the corrosion resistance of electrodes in micro-EDM is still of great interest. The effective coating of thin film for the micro tool electrodes in the case of micro-EDM can lead to minimize the electrode wear which eventually improve the productivity and machining quality. In the present study, experiments were performed on micro-EDM using carbon coated tool electrode and optimized using Taguchi-Topsis to investigate optimum levels of Depth of cut (Z) and overcut (OVC). It was concluded that optimum conditions had improved significantly using carbon coated micro tool electrode. Optimal levels of technological parameters include V = 160 V, C = 10000 pF, RPM = 400 rpm, and Zopt = 2.525 mm, OVCopt = 61.718 µm. The quality of the machined surface with the coated electrode at optimal conditions is analyzed and evaluated. The Topsis method is a suitable solution to this problem, and the steps to perform the calculation in this technique are simple. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this paper is to determine how COVID-19 shocks and government policies affected MSMEs' financial and non-financial performance during the economic turmoil. The paper used both quantitative and qualitative methods. An online questionnaire survey was used to collect quantitative data from 380 Saudi MSMEs. The direct effects of the exogenous variables on the endogenous variable were determined using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Furthermore, multigroup analysis was used to examine the moderating effect of policy response on other variables. Interviews were conducted from a qualitative standpoint, and the information was converted into texts and qualitatively analyzed. Demand Shocks, Management/Operational Shocks, and Supply Shocks all have a significant impact on financial performance. The only significant predictor of non-financial performance was demand side shocks. Management/operational side shocks, on the other hand, have no effect on the non-financial performance of MSMEs. Furthermore, policy response was found to be a powerful predictor of both financial and non-financial performance. During the COVID-19 outbreak, MSMEs' policies and assistance programs had no discernible impact on demand and supply side shocks, as well as financial and non-financial performance. Overall, the findings of this study will help the Saudi government and other policymakers determine the best way to deal with current and future COVID-19 pandemics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The advent of smart phones and reduction in internet data costs boosted the operations of NBFC-P2P platforms in India; COVID-19 gave further impetus. To study this segment in a comprehensive manner, a survey was conducted in 2022 among NBFC-P2Ps registered with the Reserve Bank. Our survey shows that the overall lending as well as the number of borrowers and lenders have steadily increased among these platforms. Lending is mainly undertaken by educated men in urban areas for investments in small scale businesses. Though interest rates charged are high, these are expected to come down as the segment matures. Asset quality of the sector, though elevated, has significantly improved in recent times. With careful nurturing and appropriate policy support, this sector can significantly contribute towards building a vital link between investors and small-scale borrowers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
