- Abstract
The evaluation of gender violence requires measurement instruments validated with the study populations. A search of measures is carried out in PsycINFO with the keywords "gender violence" "measur*" "validation", obtaining twenty-nine instruments. Nineteen others are added to the study that measure gender-based violence both directly and indirectly, and that were known from previous research but were not found in the PsycINFO search. The questionnaires are classified into four areas according to their possibility of use: attitudes towards violence, police/judicial field, social and health field and perception of gender differences or sexism. The results show forty-eight instruments including the reliability and validity indicators available. It is discussed if the search systems allow or not to find all the available instruments directly or we had to add other alternative resources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The Survey of Autobiographical Memory (SAM) scale is an easy-to-administer self-report measure of Autobiographical Memory (AM) abilities. The aim of this study was to obtain evidence of psychometric validity of the SAM in the Spanish population, specifically evidence of internal structure and reliability (factor) and evidence of relationship with other variables (evidence of convergent validity). In addition, another objective was to analyze the degree of factor equivalence of the scale in a sample of Spanish and Argentine adults. A cross-sectional study was carried out with a final sample of 3306 participants between 18 and 65 years of age: 3044 Argentines and 262 Spaniards. In general terms, the results allow us to conclude that the SAM has adequate psychometric properties for its use with the Spanish population and that it has a degree of cross-cultural equivalence between the Argentine and Spanish population, since it is adequate at the level of partial metric invariance. Knowledge and scientific practice have largely been backdrops to examinations of scale and rescaling processes, including studies of rescaling environmental management. The growing use of new data technologies in environmental management highlights the need to situate knowledge and scientific practice into the politics and production of scale. Reviewing sixty years of debate over spatial management of the highly migratory and Atlantic bluefin tuna, this piece illustrates the central, dynamic roles of knowledge and scientific practice in scalar transboundary management. Findings corroborate prior studies demonstrating that stakeholders mobilize knowledge (and uncertainty) to influence spatialized management. We examine whether such practices are transformed by new data technologies, a nomenclature we adopt as "more" than big data to encapsulate and parse methods of data collection or generation, the data themselves, and the analytical techniques and infrastructures developed to make sense of data for management purposes. We find that as new data technologies reveal objects in space and time, they reformulate and multiply—rather than resolve and circumscribe—scalar management possibilities. They mix with historic scientific and political practices and are never "complete." Beyond the bluefin case, findings point to the complications of turning to new data technologies—often uncritically celebrated for their potential to give clear, actionable data—to "solve" scalar dilemmas. Instead, they are positioned to become a new way of knowing the world: a new geo-epistemology that shapes experimentation and debate around the spatialized power relations determining control over contested spaces and the valuable resources within and moving through them.

The aim of this study was to obtain validity evidence of the Escala de Ciber-Violencia en Parejas Adolescentes (Cib-VPA) in the Spanish young adults. A total of 298 undergraduate students (222 women, 75 men and 2 people who identified themselves as 'other') completed the Cib-VPA and other related measures of offline and online dating violence. Internal consistency and construct, convergent and discriminant validity were evaluated. In line with the original validation study, a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) provided evidence for an 18-item model comprising 2 subscales, with 2 factors per subscale. All had acceptable internal consistency values. Total and subscale scores correlated positively with online and offline dating violence measures, with these correlations being stronger in subscales evaluating violence in the same direction (perpetrated or victimisation). As expected, no differences were observed according to gender. This study shows validity evidences of Cib-VPA scores, which can be quickly and inexpensively administered to large samples of young adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study aimed to develop and validate the Scale of Attitudes towards Lynching (Escala de Atitudes frente ao Linchamento - EAL). For this purpose, 2 studies were conducted. Study 1 aimed to test the measure's structure-based validity and internal consistency and included 428 undergraduate and graduate students from the 5 Brazilian regions, with a mean age of 26.86 (SD =7.92). The results of the first study showed adequate psychometric indexes, indicating the bifactorial structure of the construct: crimes against property (a = 0.97) and heinous crimes (a = 0.97). Study 2 aimed to test the replicability of the bifactorial structure obtained in study 1 and included 481 college students from all Brazilian regions with an average age of 27.47 (SD = 9.23). The results supported the adequacy of the bifactorial solution (GFI = 92, CFI = 97, TLI = 97, RMSEA = 0.08). Overall, the EAL presented satisfactory psychometric characteristics that can support future studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: In line with the growing religious, political and social violence around the world, this study evaluates the psychometric properties of a new scale for Detecting Extremism and Religious Radicalism (SERR), a self-report measure of extremism and religious radicalism. Method: Factor analyses, validity and reliability data were collected using a sample of 1985 participants from 58 different cities around Spain who self-identified as actively practicing their religion. Results: Statistical analyses of SERR scores yielded acceptable internal consistency scores (? > .74) and confirmed key factors associated with radicalism and extremism. The structure of the scale was confirmed as two-dimensional (?2(64) = 361.22, p < .001, CFI = 0.976, TLI = 0.970, RMSEA (90% CI) = 0.089 (0.080 - 0.098), SRMR = 0.064). Scores for the extremism dimension correlated significantly and positively with scores for the same factor on the Activism and Radicalism Intention Scales (r = .32, p < .001, n = 139). Conclusions: The SERR demonstrates adequate reliability and validity for evaluating the degree of extremism and radicalism in Christian/Catholic and Muslim believers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HIGH school students , *SEXUAL intercourse , *FAMILY planning , *SEX education , *CULTURAL adaptation , *TABOO - Abstract
Currently sexual and reproductive education continues to be a taboo in some families, consequently, the responsibility of comprehensive sexuality education has been transmitted to schools. This education includes the family planning component, which must be approached in a timely manner, considering that in Colombia, the beginning of sexual activity occurs between approximately 14 and 15 years of age. An objective measurement of deficiencies in terms of sexual and reproductive education in adolescents can be obtained through scales with adequate psychometric characteristics. Therefore, the objective of this research article was to culturally adapt a validated Peruvian scale of knowledge and attitudes about contraceptive methods in adolescents. The methodology to carry out the adaptation process began with the authorization for the use of the scale by its authors, later a first focus group was carried out, the suggested modifications were notified, and when they were accepted a second focus group was carried out and the final version was built in Colombian Spanish. Ten high school students from two official schools in Bogotá were included; most of the suggested changes were due to unknown words, difficulties in understanding wording and interpretation problems. Finally, the modified scale can be considered for use in Colombia, considering that the cultural adaptation process was carried out in a school population. The importance of having the authorization of the authors of the scale and ideally adapting validated scales in populations with similar characteristics is emphasized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The purpose of the study was to analyze the construct validity and reliability properties of the Self-assessment scale of teaching competencies and institutional context for the promotion of creativity in High School and Higher Education. To comply with what was proposed, the instrument was applied to 200 teachers of upper secondary and higher education. The construct validity analysis was performed using the exploratory factor analysis technique and reliability using Cronbach's Alpha. The results evidenced the existence of four factors (competencies regarding cognitive aspects, mastery of knowing how to do and create, attitudinal and affective aspects, institutional context), coinciding with what was theoretically proposed and that together explained more than 55% of the variance. The reliability analysis revealed optimal values, both for the total scale (Cronbach's Alpha: 0.964) as well as for factors. It can be affirmed that the scale allows evaluating the competences and conditions of teachers regarding the promotion, design and implementation of educational experiences to develop the creativity of the student body, taking as a reference the assessment of Mexican teachers., El propósito del estudio fue analizar las propiedades de validez de constructo y confiabilidad de la Escala de autoevaluación de competencias docentes y contexto institucional para el fomento de la creatividad en la educación media superior y superior.

- Abstract
Introduction: Several classifications have been developed to improve decision making on diabetic foot for prognostic purposes. Most of them are made during the initial evaluation of the wound and do not include other relevant variables. Therefore, the importance of differentiating the prognostic degrees of severity of the ulcers determined, the follow-up, the evolution of healing and the therapeutic impact with the San Elian classification are the purpose of this study in patients of the Chiquimula Hospital. Methodology: It is a descriptive, cross-sectional and observational study, in which data is collected through clinical evaluation and informed consent in patients with diabetic foot admitted to the surgical services, during the months of June- September 2023. Results: Patients admitted to the general surgery service with a diagnosis of diabetic foot and subsequent classification according to the San Elián scale initially with an average score of 19 points, grade II moderate, and an average score at discharge of 17 points, grade II moderate; shows little clinical improvement, this due to the medical and surgical therapeutic approach used in admission contributes mainly in the maintenance and minimal improvement of the diabetic foot condition. Conclusions: During the months of June to August 2023, 28 patients with diabetic foot were registered in the Chiquimula Hospital, classified according to the San Elián scale. 3.5% were admitted in grade I, 64.3% in grade II and 32.1% in grade III. The dorsal or plantar regions were the most affected (39.2%), followed by dorsal/plantar or medial/lateral (32.1%) and medial or lateral (28.6%). Initial treatment includes metabolic stabilization, cleaning of damaged tissue, antibiotic treatment and culture of secretion. Therefore, the reclassification of the wounds measured the therapeutic effect obtained by the patients, showing little improvement due to the fact that the treatment was limited to resolving only the clinical mani, Introducción: Diversas clasificaciones se han desarrollado para mejorar la toma de decisiones sobre pie diabético, con fines pronósticos.

- Abstract

- Abstract

Introduction: Rosacea is a chronic disease negatively impacting the patients' quality of life and mental health. The Rosacea Quality of Life (RosaQoL) scale could be a useful tool to monitor patients while on therapy vs rosacea, as it measures the impact on quality of life and helps individualize treatment to meet the patients' needs. RosaQoL is a validated scale that can be completed within a few minutes., Materials and Methods: The original scale was translated and back translated by 2 native translators, with input from an expert committee when necessary. This version was tested on 21 patients to ensure proper understanding. Psychometric characteristics and validity were determined using various measures (sensitivity and specificity via ROC curve and internal consistency via Cronbach's alpha). The correlation between RosaQoL and SF-12 scales was assessed using Pearson correlation coefficients., Results: A total of 531 participants responded to the scale (481 with rosacea and 50 controls). The scale demonstrated excellent sensitivity and specificity (ROC curve, 0.96; 95%CI, 0.92-0.99) and high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha, 0.96). RosaQoL correlated with SF-12. A higher score on the RosaQoL scale was associated with worse quality of life in all dimensions of the SF-12 scale., Conclusions: The Spanish version of the RosaQoL scale exhibits psychometric characteristics, which are similar to the original scale. Also, the RosaQoL scale is useful to assess the quality of life of patients with rosacea., (Copyright © 2024 AEDV. Publicado por Elsevier España, S.L.U. All rights reserved.)

Introduction: The aim of this study was to develop and validate a Spanish-language version of the Scale for Contraversive Pushing, used to diagnose and measure pusher behaviour in stroke patients. Methods: Translation–back translation was used to create the Spanish-language Scale for Contraversive Pushing; we subsequently evaluated its validity and reliability by administering it to a sample of patients. We also analysed its sensitivity to change in patients identified as pushers who received neurological physiotherapy. Results: Experts indicated that the content of the scale was valid. Internal consistency was very good (Cronbach's alpha of 0.94). The intraclass correlation coefficient showed high intra- and interobserver reliability (0.999 and 0.994, respectively). The Kappa and weighted Kappa coefficients were used to measure the reliability of each item; the majority obtained values above 0.9. Lastly, the differences between baseline and final evaluations of pushers were significant (paired sample t test), showing that the scale is sensitive to changes obtained through physical therapy. Conclusions: The Spanish-language version of the Scale for Contraversive Pushing is valid and reliable for measuring pusher behaviour in stroke patients. In addition, it is able to evaluate the ongoing changes in patients who have received physical therapy.

Introduction: The MAS instrument, a test to assess sex addiction, has presented drawbacks at the factorial level. For this reason, this research sought to estimate the psychometric properties of the sex addiction measurement instrument (MAS) in Colombian population. Method: Initially, an expert judgment was carried out to establish the validity of content through Aiken's V, then the MAS and the sexual inhibition/arousal scale (SIS/SES) were applied to 337 participants through a form web (Google forms) of which 312 met the inclusion criteria (221 women and 91 men) aged between 18 and 65 years (x _ = 28.49, SD = 9.77). Using SPSS, Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation, and a factorial analysis with Varimax rotation were calculated. Results: The analyzes showed a good reliability, a correlation adjusted to what was expected in relation to the SIS/SES test and the factorial analysis showed six factors that present differences in comparison with the initially proposed test. Conclusion: The sex addiction measurement test (MAS) has an adequate level of reliability, but does not have adequate construct validity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper analyzes the relation between intangible resources and performance in upscale restaurants. Therefore, the Intangible Resources Scale (ERINT) is proposed to measure reputation, relational resource and human resource. Sixty-five restaurant managers in Brazil responded to the survey. The proposed scale proved to be adequate for analysis of intangible resources in restaurants and allowed us to verify that human resources improve performance in restaurants. It is concluded that ERINT is relevant in the measurement of intangible resources, especially in the services segment. And for high performance, upscales restaurants should invest in the development of personal skills. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LONELINESS , *CONFIRMATORY factor analysis , *PSYCHOMETRICS , *OLDER people , *COVID-19 pandemic - Abstract
The Three-Item Loneliness Scale (TIL Scale) is a widely used brief instrument for the assessment of loneliness. The aim of this study was to analyse the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the TIL Scale with data from two different studies. In Study 1, 1,536 adults between 18 and 88 years old completed a survey during the lockdown period due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In Study 2, 314 older adults between 60 and 92 years old were assessed prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Significant factor loadings were obtained through confirmatory factor analyses for both samples. Acceptable internal consistency was found for the scale in both samples. Positive associations between the TIL Scale and a single item measuring loneliness and depressive and anxious symptomatology were found. The findings provide support for the use of the TIL Scale with Spanish-speaking populations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Public–private transportation megaprojects such as toll roads and rail networks have received attention as expressions of neoliberal urban development processes, but what we call "mesoscale" mobility infrastructures have become increasingly common in the United States. Such infrastructures are large enough to have systemic qualities (e.g., fixed nodes, instrumented networks, and operational requirements) and complex institutional arrangements but small enough in cost and impact that they do not systemically transform urbanization patterns. In this article, we analyze one such mesoscale infrastructure system, bicycle sharing, across three urban regions in the United States: Austin, Texas, Philadelphia, and the San Francisco Bay Area. We argue that bicycle sharing systems in the United States have three key features: (1) widespread expectations of fiscal self-sufficiency restrict their geographical reach to urban centers; (2) they largely follow existing patterns of racialized uneven development, leading to major service gaps; and (3) their implementation involves contingent institutional configurations that create modest openings for steering them in more equitable directions. At the same time, newer venture capital–funded "dockless" competitors have exploited the coverage gaps of station-based bike sharing without departing from their basic market-driven logic. Mesoscale infrastructural experimentation is increasingly central to efforts to increase mobility options in the United States but, when implemented within existing urban political economies, tends to produce scales of infrastructure that are at odds with more substantive forms of mobility justice.

Background: The factor structure of the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) has rarely been adequately analyzed (e.g., performing principal component analyses rather than factorial approximations). We aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the PCS through a variety of exploratory and confirmatory factorial approaches. Method: Three hundred ninety-four Chilean patients with musculoskeletal pain were included (age, M = 49.61, SD = 18.00; 71.57% women). Eight factorial models were proposed to analyze the structure of the data. In addition, validity evidence of the PCS based on relationships with other variables were analyzed considering pain intensity and kinesiophobia. Results: The results suggest a unidimensional structure. Models with more than one dimension exhibited undesirable factor loadings or inadequate indices of fit. Based on these results, a short version of the scale composed of 4 items is proposed (PCS-4). The PCS-4 scores demonstrated high levels of invariance between sex, chronicity, and education groups and also were associated with pain and kinesiophobia. Conclusions: The results of the PCS-4 Spanish version showed evidence of reliability and validity for adequately measuring pain catastrophizing in Chileans who suffer from musculoskeletal pain. The PCS-4 is a short form that should be explored in future studies (e.g., in other Spanish-speaking populations). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Ethical behavior has often been assessed using scales and questionnaires, that are sometimes based on specific scenarios or situations with a number of limitations. In the present research, we aimed at validating a scale to measure students' ethical behavioral predispositions at different educational stages. Based on the scale by Akaah and Lund (1994), we created 36 scenarios depicting ethical dilemmas in educational settings. The instrument was applied to 662 students of both secondary and higher education. Exploratory factorial analysis identified 4 factors with 18 elements and a reliability of .90, while confirmatory factorial analysis replicated the structure of the factors. The implications and challenges in research, as well as in future interventions, are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Introduction: The Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile-II instrument was developed in English and in Spanish to examine health-promoting lifestyle profiles. Several reports question the validity of its Spanish version; it is thought that the translation employed requires changes according to the cultural context in which it is intended to be used. The proposal was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the six dimensions proposed by the original version of the instrument in Mexican university students. Method: Ex post facto design with 478 students from a public university in northeastern Mexico. The analysis was performed in LISREL 8.1 and in SPSS 21.0. A psychometric analysis was performed of the six dimensions with factor homogeneity, validity, and reliability indices in two models. Results: Descriptive data and results of the factor analysis are presented with a moderate fit model and a distribution that explains 49.93% of the variance. The 52-item version presented low convergent and discriminant validity values; by removing six items, these values reached normalization for five of the six dimensions. In opposition to that, reliability of the scores was good. Conclusions: In this sample from the Mexican context, some problems of the Spanish version's factor solution are confirmed with a model that presents moderate fit given the six-dimension structure. However, the predicted structure shows acceptable reliability values. In the experts' opinion, the sixdimension structure seems to be the most adequate to be used in Mexican university students.
