127. Interest prediction in social networks based on Markov chain modeling on clustered users.

Abstract

Effective user interest prediction is significant for service providers in a set of application scenarios such as user behavior analysis and resource recommendation. However, existing approaches are either incomplete or proprietary. In this paper, user interest prediction based on the Markov chain modeling on clustered users is proposed with the following procedure: collect dataset from 4613 users and more than 16 million messages from Sina Weibo; obtain each user's interest eigenvalue sequence and establish single-Markov chain model; and implement user clustering algorithm for the multi-Markov chain construction in order to divide users into a set of predefined interest categories. The proposed solution is capable of predicting both long-term and short-term user interests based on a suitable selection of the initial state distribution, λ. The proposed solution also proves that short-term interests are consistent with long-term interests if the influences of social or user-related events that cause interruptions (e.g., earthquake and birthday) are not considered. Furthermore, experiments show that the proposed solution is feasible and efficient and can achieve a higher accuracy of prediction than that of the other approaches such as Support Vector Machine (SVM) and K-means. Abstract

Over the last decade, popularity and fascination for social networks have exponentially increased. This rapid growth has triggered cybercriminals to utilize social networks for their malicious activities like social network spam. This risk and danger in social networking sites urge the need for an accurate and efficient spam detection model. Traditionally, supervised and unsupervised classification algorithms are used to identify social network spam. But spammers often change their behavior to evade spam filtering techniques. This results in huge data volatility. Traditional techniques are, therefore, sometimes ineffective in filtering spam in the social network. Hence, this work proposes to use a feed-forward neural network that can use the hidden relationship in this complex data for spam detection model. To improve the model's accuracy and to speed up the training process, important hyperparameters such as learning rate, momentum term, architecture of neural network, activation function, training algorithm, initial weights ranges, and initial tuning of weights are necessary. As there is no general and predefined method available for this process, a reinforcement learning and k-Norm factor-based shuffled frog leaping algorithm to find the optimum set of neural network parameters is proposed in this paper. In the first stage, learning rate and momentum parameters in the continuous variable range are tuned using reinforcement learning. In the second stage, the best possible combinations of remaining parameter values are chosen using the proposed modified shuffled frog leaping algorithm that uses k-Norm to improve the exploitation. Experiments were carried out for the Tip spam dataset and Twitter dataset on a feed-forward neural network with tuned parameters. 137. Reliable critical nodes detection for Internet of Things (IoT).

Abstract

The 3D critical node (C-N) detection can play a vital role in algorithm development of security, surveillance, monitoring, topology detection, and situation-aware emergency navigation for the Internet of Things (IoT). However, 3D C-N detection problem in IoT raises some issues and also introduces new challenges. The existing state of the art in 3D C-N detection shows that rely on prior known anchor node, known coordinate, embedding of the 3D situation on a 2D geometrical structure like circles and presence of unreliable node and ignores the energy constraint in Low Power and Lossy Networks IoT. In this paper, we present a practical, distributed, and energy-efficient algorithm for reliable 3DC-N detection. The goal of the proposed mechanism is twofold, firstly a 3D critical nodes (C-N) detection algorithm is proposed which uses only Received Signal Strength Indicator information of neighbor. Secondly, a correlation-based algorithm for the reliability approach is proposed to increases the node resilience against malicious IoT nodes. The complexity of our proposed algorithms has a time complexity of O (log (N)) and computation cost O (δ (log N)) where N is the number of nodes in networks, and δ is the total number of forward and the backward message from an individual node. To validate our work, we implemented our proposed approach with the IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) based IoT routing protocol compare it with RPL and cryptographic approach Version Number and Rank Authentication (VeRa). The result shows that the proposed approach can detect 10–15% more C-N nodes. Result also shows that our proposed algorithm has better PDR than RPL based approach by 12% and less than VeRa (cryptographic approach) by 8% however our proposed approach consumes almost 50% less power than the VeRa.
