O objetivo deste artigo é destacar a presença de Paulo Freire como fundamentação teórica na produção científica do Grupo de Pesquisa Comunicação e Educação, ligado à Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos Interdisciplinares da Comunicação, entre os anos de 2001 e 2020. Para isso, foram analisados os 847 artigos apresentados em congressos nacionais neste período. Como resultado, a pesquisa aponta que em 41% dos textos há referências ao educador brasileiro – principalmente às obras Extensão ou comunicação?, Pedagogia do oprimido e Pedagogia da autonomia –, especialmente a conceitos como educação bancária, aprendizagem significativa, formação crítica, assim como reflexões sobre interação professor-aluno, diálogo e fundamentos da prática docente.

Neste trabalho são apresentadas as características e a resistência ao cisalhamento das interfaces soldadas por fricção rotativa (SFR) de cavilhas de madeira de itaúba em substratos de madeira de pinus. Os corpos de prova são compostos por cavilhas de itaúba e substratos de pinus, nos quais foram usinados pré-furos usando duas relações de diâmetro cavilha/pré-furo: 1,25 e 1,11. Após a SFR, as uniões soldadas foram submetidas a ensaios mecânicos de extração das cavilhas, a fim de se determinar a tensão de cisalhamento na ruptura. A macro e a microestrutura da interface soldada foram avaliadas visualmente e por microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). Os resultados mostram que: a tensão de cisalhamento média na ruptura, para as relações diâmetro cavilha/pré-furo de 1,25 e 1,11, são de 2,41 e 1,77 MPa, respectivamente, indicando que, para as madeiras estudadas, a relação diâmetro cavilha/pré-furo de 1,25 apresenta ligações soldadas mais resistentes; a SFR ocasiona o escurecimento da interface de soldagem; o pré-furo e a cavilha, originalmente cilíndricos, assumem um formato cônico, durante o processo de SFR; a interface entre as madeiras de pinus e de itaúba é homogênea e bem soldada.

In recent years, inclusive education research in Italy and internationally has reflected upon teacher agency and its implications for students’ full inclusion. Since teacher agency for inclusive education is an emerging theoretical construct, interpreted in different ways in the literature, it is first necessary to aggregate existing studies, appraising both theoretical conceptualizations and available evidence. To this objective, we conducted a systematic scoping review of recent international literature on the topic. Eight theoretical frameworks emerged from the literature. Also, barriers to teacher agency were mapped e.g., the dominant ableist culture, the perceived inadequacy in the relationship with the students with disability, the special education teacher unpreparedness on specific learning contents, the marginalization of the special education teacher, and the lack of school administration support. On the other hand, teachers proved they are capable of change towards more inclusive practices thanks to resilience, teamwork, and beliefs on students’ abilities. Mappare evidenze e framework teorici dell’agency docente in relazione all’inclusione: una scoping review sistematica. Negli ultimi anni, la ricerca sull’inclusione scolastica in Italia e all’estero si è interrogata sull’agentività dei docenti e sulle implicazioni pratiche che essa comporta ai fini della piena inclusione di tutte/i le/gli studentesse/i. Dal momento che l’agency inclusiva è un costrutto teorico emergente, interpretato in modi differenti in letteratura, è anzitutto necessario aggregare gli studi esistenti, dal punto di vista delle concettualizzazioni teoriche e delle evidenze disponibili. Per questo, abbiamo condotto una scoping review sistematica della più recente letteratura internazionale sul tema. Emerge il ricorso a otto framework teorici e si evidenziano gli ostacoli all’esercizio dell’agency inclusiva, tra cui la cultura abilista dominante, la percezione di inadeguatezza nel rapporto con le/gli studentesse/i, l’impreparazione dell’insegnante di sostegno su alcuni specifici contenuti disciplinari, la disuguaglianza di status fra docente curricolare e di sostegno, la mancanza di supporto da parte della struttura di governance della scuola. D’altro canto, le/gli insegnanti dimostrano di essere in grado di modificare le pratiche in senso inclusivo, grazie alla loro resilienza, al lavoro in team e a profonde convinzioni sulle capacità delle/i studentesse/i.

As micotoxinas são metabólitos gerados por fungos filamentosos, encontrados no ambiente e em alimentos, como pastagem e cereais, destinados à alimentação bovina. A contaminação por micotoxinas é uma das grandes preocupações no que concerne aos rebanhos do mundo todo. A problemática se inicia durante a produção e armazenamento incorretos do alimento, quando há condições favoráveis à proliferação dos fungos causadores da contaminação. Essas micotoxicoses podem gerar diversos danos, entre eles, carcinogênicos, neurológicos e hepáticos. O objetivo desta revisão bibliográfica foi discorrer a respeito das principais micotoxinas, os agentes etiológicos que as sintetizam, e as micotoxicoses que acometem os bovinos. Para tanto, foram utilizadas as bases de busca Scielo, Pubmed e Portal Capes, além de sites oficiais, utilizando-se as palavras-chave “micotoxinas”, “micotoxicoses” e “intoxicação fúngica”, com enfoque em bovinos.

A Leishmaniose Visceral Canina (LVC) possui alto potencial zoonótico e patológico, causando grande impacto no sistema imune dos cães acometidos. Para que uma suspeita de LVC seja confirmada, é necessário a realização de testes sorológicos e moleculares que possuam alta sensibilidade e sejam mais confiáveis. Os principais testes utilizados para o diagnóstico são o ELISA e RIFI, que, dentre os testes imunológicos, são os ensaios de maior sensibilidade e especificidade. O objetivo deste artigo foi revisar os principais testes imunológicos e moleculares para LVC, apontando as vantagens e desvantagens de cada ensaio, bem como sua utilidade na conclusão do diagnóstico e manejo do animal acometido.

Background: The modern concept of oligometastatic (OM) state has been initially developed to describe patients with a low burden of disease and with a potential for cure with local ablative treatments. We systematically assessed the risk of death and relapse of oligometastatic (OM) cancers compared to cancers with more diffuse metastatic spread, through a meta-analysis of published data. Methods: PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and EMBASE were searched for studies reporting prognosis of patients with OM solid tumors. Risk of death and relapse were extracted and pooled to provide an adjusted hazard ratio with a 95% confidence interval (HR 95%CI). The primary outcome of the study refers to overall mortality in OM vs. polymetastatic (PM) patients. Results. Mortality and relapse associated with OM state in patients with cancer were evaluated among 104,234 participants (n=173 studies). Progression-free survival was better in patients with OM disease (hazard ratio [HR] = 0.62, 95% CI 0.57–0.68; P Conclusions. Patients with OM cancers have a significantly better prognosis than those with more widespread stage IV tumors. In OM cancer patients a personalized approach should be pursued.

Bringing together 150+ scholars and practitioners from 50+ countries, and funded by the European Commission, COST Action LeverAge (https://www.cost.eu/actions/CA22120/) is the first network-building project of its kind in the work and organizational psychology and human resource management (WOP/HRM) aspects of work and aging. Focused on the aging workforce, the Action aims to foster interdisciplinary and multinational scientific excellence and the translation of science to practical and societal impact across 4 years. Based on a research synthesis, we identify five broad research directions for work and aging science including work and organizational practices for a multi-age workforce, successful aging at work, the integration of age-diverse workers and knowledge transfer, aging and technology at work, and career development in later life and retirement. We provide key research questions to guide scientific inquiry along these five research directions alongside best practice recommendations to expand scholarly impact in WOP/HRM. Brazil is one of the countries most affected by COVID-19, with the highest number of deaths recorded. Brazilian Health Institutions have reported four main peaks of positive COVID-19 cases. The last two waves were characterized by the emergence of the VOC Omicron and its sublineages. This study aimed to conduct a retrospective surveillance study illustrating the emergence, dissemination, and diversification of the VOC Omicron in 15 regional health units (RHUs) in MG, the second most populous state in Brazil, by combining epidemiological and genomic data. A total of 5643 confirmed positive COVID-19 samples were genotyped using the panels TaqMan SARS-CoV-2 Mutation and 4Plex SC2/VOC Bio-Manguinhos to define mutations classifying the BA.1, BA.2, BA.4, and BA.5 sublineages. While sublineages BA.1 and BA.2 were more prevalent during the third wave, BA.4 and BA.5 dominated the fourth wave in the state. Epidemiological and viral genome data suggest that age and vaccination with booster doses were the main factors related to clinical outcomes, reducing the number of deaths, irrespective of the Omicron sublineages. Complete genome sequencing of 253 positive samples confirmed the circulation of the BA.1, BA.2, BA.4, and BA.5 subvariants, and phylogenomic analysis demonstrated that the VOC Omicron was introduced through multiple international events, followed by transmission within the state of MG. In addition to the four subvariants, other lineages have been identified at low frequency, including BQ.1.1 and XAG. This integrative study reinforces that the evolution of Omicron sublineages was the most significant factor driving the highest peaks of positive COVID-19 cases without an increase in more severe cases, prevented by vaccination boosters. The incidence of biliary tract cancer is increasing in developed countries and is generating renewed interest in the scientific community due to the evidence of a high percentage (approximately 40%) of potentially targetable molecular alterations. However, to date, patient selection and the development of therapeutic approaches remain challenging due to the need for accurate diagnosis, adequate sampling, a specialized team for molecular analysis, centralization of patients in high-volume centers capable of supporting the high cost of these methods, and the feasibility of clinical studies on diseases with aggressive onset and poor prognosis. In this article, we would like to provide a detailed overview of the necessary tools for diagnostic framing and the various therapeutic scenarios being investigated concerning the most frequently detected molecular alterations. The use of biomarkers that influence a targeted choice in cancer treatments is the future of medical oncology. Within this scenario, in recent years, an important role has been played by knowledge of microsatellite instability (MSI), a molecular fingerprint that identifies defects in the mismatch repair system. This knowledge has changed clinical practice in the adjuvant setting of colon cancer, and its role in the neoadjuvant setting in gastric tumours is becoming increasingly interesting, as well as in endometrial cancers in both early and advanced diseases. Furthermore, it has undoubtedly conditioned the first lines of treatment in the metastatic setting in different types of cancers. The incidence of MSI is different in different cancer types, as well as in early cancers versus metastatic disease. Knowing the incidence of MSI in the various histologies can provide insight into the potential use of this biomarker considering its prognostic value, especially in the early stages, and its predictive role with respect to treatment response. In particular, MSI can guide the choice of chemotherapy treatments in the adjuvant setting of colon and perioperative setting in gastric tumours, which could lead to immunotherapy treatments in these patients in both the early stages of the disease and the metastatic setting where the response to immunotherapy drugs in diseases with MSI is now well established. In this review, we focus on colon, gastric and endometrial cancers, and we briefly discuss other cancer types where MSI could have a potential role in oncological treatment decisions.

Abstract Background Nanotoxicology is an increasingly relevant field and sound paradigms on how inhaled nanoparticles (NPs) interact with organs at the cellular level, causing harmful conditions, have yet to be established. This is particularly true in the case of the cardiovascular system, where experimental and clinical evidence shows morphological and functional damage associated with NP exposure. Giving the increasing interest on cobalt oxide (Co3O4) NPs applications in industrial and bio-medical fields, a detailed knowledge of the involved toxicological effects is required, in view of assessing health risk for subjects/workers daily exposed to nanomaterials. Specifically, it is of interest to evaluate whether NPs enter cardiac cells and interact with cell function. We addressed this issue by investigating the effect of acute exposure to Co3O4-NPs on excitation-contraction coupling in freshly isolated rat ventricular myocytes. Results Patch clamp analysis showed instability of resting membrane potential, decrease in membrane electrical capacitance, and dose-dependent decrease in action potential duration in cardiomyocytes acutely exposed to Co3O4-NPs. Motion detection and intracellular calcium fluorescence highlighted a parallel impairment of cell contractility in comparison with controls. Specifically, NP-treated cardiomyocytes exhibited a dose-dependent decrease in the fraction of shortening and in the maximal rate of shortening and re-lengthening, as well as a less efficient cytosolic calcium clearing and an increased tendency to develop spontaneous twitches. In addition, treatment with Co3O4-NPs strongly increased ROS accumulation and induced nuclear DNA damage in a dose dependent manner. Finally, transmission electron microscopy analysis demonstrated that acute exposure did lead to cellular internalization of NPs. Conclusions Taken together, our observations indicate that Co3O4-NPs alter cardiomyocyte electromechanical efficiency and intracellular calcium handling, and induce ROS production resulting in oxidative stress that can be related to DNA damage and adverse effects on cardiomyocyte functionality.

The creation of genetic resource cryobanks provides a crucial link between in situ and ex situ techniques to improve the efficiency of conservation programs. Aim of the present review is to describe all the activities developed for the implementation of the first Italian Semen Cryobank of Autochthonous Chicken and Turkey Breeds. These activities can be classified into three main topics: (1) identification of species-specific semen freezing/thawing reference procedures; (2) drafting Standard Operative Procedures (SOP) for the implementation of the semen cryobank; (3) storage of semen doses from Italian chicken and turkey breeds to establish the cryobank. Several trials have been developed to identify a specie-specific semen cryopreservation protocol for chickens and turkeys. The major results are reviewed and a final reference protocol described. Taking into consideration the FAO guidelines for cryoconservation of animal genetic resources, SOP were drafted with the aim to provide technical guidance and logistical support on the choice of priority breeds, selection of birds for semen production, infrastructures and storage sites, birds and semen management, cryopreservation process and doses traceability. Lastly, the Italian Semen Cryobank was created. A total of 112 semen doses from 22 cockerels of three breeds, and 74 doses from 12 turkey males of three breeds were stored in the Cryobank. Breed specific semen quality parameters assessed before and after cryopreservation are reported. A leishmaniose visceral canina é uma doença de clima tropical, sendo comum em países das Américas. No Brasil, sua incidência vem crescendo devido o aumento de migrações de animais dentro do próprio país, o que pode elevar o índice de animais infectados pelo protozoário Leishmania chagasi. Este relato trata de uma cadela, de 2,5 anos de idade, oriunda do estado de São Paulo, que realizou uma viagem ao estado do Maranhão, cujos tutores vieram a fixar moradia em Indaial, SC. Logo após se estabelecerem nesta última cidade, o exemplar começou a apresentar sintomas característicos da leishmaniose visceral canina. Testes bioquímicos e diagnósticos sorológicos foram solicitados para a confirmação da suspeita e realização do tratamento.
