Abstract

Culture of excellence (CoE) is a critical determining element for efficient organisational performance (OP) in ever-competing global economy. Both manufacturing and service sectors implement this aspect to maintain their competitive advantage. We report the role of knowledge-sharing (KS) in strengthening the CoE and OP relationship in the context of Iranian manufacturing sectors. Past developments, recent progress and future trends in establishing such relation is comprehensively overviewed. A conceptual framework is proposed and empirically tested to determine the impact of KS on CoE and OP correlation. Managers from 222 European foundation for quality management excellence award-winning manufacturing companies in Iran are selected to conduct a case study via survey. Model is validated using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling and the path modelling among the studied variables is developed. It is demonstrated that CoE significantly impacts the OP, and KS partially mediates CoE and OP relationship. The admirable features of the structural model suggest that CoE can be advocated as a recommendable management system to effectively support the organisational competitiveness. Present findings might contribute towards the development of superior OP through the creation of a valid and reliable measurement instrument for CoE. Abstract

Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) has appeared as an environmental innovation which integrates environmental concerns into supply chain management. GSCM has gained popularity with both academic and practitioners. The purpose of the paper is to briefly review the recent literatures of the GSCM and also determine the new direction area of this emerging field. A detailed review is used to sort out the literature and develop the research direction of the study. The review is focused on development of GSCM in a developed and developing countries including all those researchers which is relevant to environmental and social sustainability towards operation management and the supply chain. It shows that lack researches to examine the adoption and implementation of GSCM practices especially in developing countries such as Malaysia. Thus, the authors bring forward a proposed research direction on GSCM adoption and implementation in Malaysia’s manufacturing industries.

Abstract

This paper proposed seven existing and new performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of quality management system (QMS) maintenance and practices in construction industry. This research is carried out with a questionnaire based on QMS variables which are extracted from literature review and project performance indicators which are established from project management's theory. Data collected was analyzed using correlation and regression analysis. The findings indicate that client satisfaction and time variance have positive and significant relationship with QMS while other project performance indicators do not show significant results. Further studies can use the same project performance indicators to study the effectiveness of QMS in different sampling area to improve the generalizability of the findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Collaborative Filtering (CF) techniques, which attempt to predict what information will meet a user's needs based on data coming from similar users, are becoming increasingly popular as ways to combat information overload. They use a single rating as input. However, the multi-criteria based CF presents a possibility to provide accurate recommendations by considering the user preferences in multiple aspects. This research proposes a new recommendation method using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Fuzzy Self-Organizing Map (SOM) for accuracy improvement of multi-criteria recommender systems. We also apply Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for dimensionality reduction and to address multi-collinearity induced from the interdependencies among criteria in multi-criteria CF datasets. Experimental results on Yahoo! Movies and TripAdvisor (users' reviews on hotels) datasets demonstrated that the proposed method significantly improves recommendation accuracy of multi-criteria CF. Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explain the assessment of validity and reliability of measured items used in survey research. The structural equation modeling techniques and Partial Least Square (PLS) will be adopted to assess the goodness of measures of constructs used in a model to examine the performance of the Malaysian train drivers. The measurement process involves assessment of construct validity of the items and followed by convergent validity. Then, the composite reliability was assessed with internal consistency measure of Cronbachs alpha. Lastly, discriminant validity was tested to assess the validity of the measurement. The constructs are not supposed to measure other constructs or overlapping constructs.
