Abstract

CeCoIn5 is a heavy fermion superconductor which appears to be straddling the boundary between the superconducting and magnetic ground states. At the superconducting critical field Hc2 this material displays NFL behavior in transport and thermodynamic properties, pointing at a Quantum Critical Point (QCP) at Hc2, and hinting at the presence of magnetic fluctuations, probably due to an AFM order superseded by the superconductivity. In the High-Field-Low-Temperature (HFLT) corner of the superconducting phase of CeCoIn5, within 20% off Hc2, an additional phase appears within the superconducting phase, and the normal-to-superconducting transition itself becomes first order. This behavior is consistent with a strong Pauli limited superconductivity, and the low temperature high field phase being an inhomogeneous superconducting FFLO phase. Recent NMR experiments, however, point to a long range magnetic order within HFLT state. Experiments on CeRhIn5 under pressure show magnetic field induced AFM order within the superconducting phase, with some similarities to the phase diagram of CeCoIn5. Could the HFLT phase transition be due to magnetic order? Importantly, the HFLT phase does not extend into the normal state above Hc2. We need a picture of a magnetism ˵attracted″ to superconductivity to explain the data on the HFLT phase in CeCoIn5. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background. Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) is a promising biomarker for acute kidney injury (AKI). Our objectives were to evaluate the NGAL TestTM from Bioporto for both urine NGAL and plasma NGAL on the Cobas 6000 c501 (Roche Diagnostics, Rotkreuz, Switzerland) with matched measurements run on Hitachi 917, the method's linearity on the Cobas 6000 in urine, EDTA and Lithium-Heparin (Li-Hep), the influence of using EDTA or Li-Hep tubes and, finally, the impact of freezing and thawing on the sample. Methods. Forty matched samples of Li-Hep and EDTA plasma and 40 urine samples were analyzed for method, anticoagulant, and freeze-thaw comparisons. Linearity was assessed using high NGAL samples diluted in urine, EDTA, and Li-Hep plasma. Commercial internal controls were used for the imprecision study. Results. The Cobas 6000 measured identically with the Hitachi 917, however, not in EDTA plasma (MedianDifference = 17.50 μg/L, p < 0.0001). Freeze-thaw process reduced NGAL ((EDTA: MeanDifference = = 15.13 μg/L, p = 0.0014)(Li-Hep: MedianDifference = = 6.5 μg/L, p = 0.0129)). NGAL results were higher in Li-Hep plasma than in EDTA plasma ((Non-thawed: MedianDifference = = 14.5 μg/L, p < 0.0001), (Thawed: MedianDifference = = 21.5 μg/L, p = 0.0003)). Linearity agreements were observed in all three specimens. Imprecision (CV%) was below 3%. Conclusion. The NGAL TestTM can be applied on the Cobas 6000 with acceptable performance, although the Cobas 6000 measured higher than the Hitachi 917 in EDTA plasma. Though clinically insignificant, we found that the freeze-thaw process had a reduced effect. NGAL results were higher in Li-Hep tubes than in EDTA tubes. Thus, for blood samples we recommend use of EDTA tubes for NGAL measurements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Abstract: We present an In(1) NQR study on the heavy-fermion (HF) compound CeCo(In1−x Cd x )5 . Bulk measurements indicate that Cd doping acts as an electronic tuning agent in CeCoIn5, and that superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetism (AFM) may coexist at ambient pressure for . For , the nuclear spin lattice relaxation rate shows a broad peak at the Néel temperature , with a subsequent onset of SC at . Our results provide strong evidence for microscopic coexistence of these two ground states. The nuclear magnetization recovery curves in both the ordered and mixed states reveal a single -component, which suggests a homogeneous nature of the Ce-4f1 electronic state. Abstract

Reactor neutrino experiments play a crucial role in advancing our knowledge of neutrinos. In this Letter, the evolution of the flux and spectrum as a function of the reactor isotopic content is reported in terms of the inverse-beta-decay yield at Daya Bay with 1958 days of data and improved systematic uncertainties. These measurements are compared with two signature model predictions: the Huber-Mueller model based on the conversion method and the SM2018 model based on the summation method. The measured average flux and spectrum, as well as the flux evolution with the Pu239 isotopic fraction, are inconsistent with the predictions of the Huber-Mueller model. In contrast, the SM2018 model is shown to agree with the average flux and its evolution but fails to describe the energy spectrum. Altering the predicted inverse-beta-decay spectrum from Pu239 fission does not improve the agreement with the measurement for either model. The models can be brought into better agreement with the measurements if either the predicted spectrum due to U235 fission is changed or the predicted U235, U238, Pu239, and Pu241 spectra are changed in equal measure.

A total of 272 plasma samples collected in the period November–December 2021 were analyzed by the methods Simoa SARS CoV‐2 N Protein Advantage Kit [Quanterix Simoa], Solsten SARS-CoV-2 Antigen enzyme immunosorbent assay (ELISA) [Solsten ELISA], and Elecsys SARS‐CoV‐2 Antigen electrochemiluminescence immunoassay [Elecsys ECLIA]. Additionally, a dilution series of inactivated virus culture was analyzed by the three assays. The SARS CoV-2 PCR-status was not known for the patients. Linear correlation in the pairwise correlation between assays as well as linearity of dilution series of inactivated virus culture was estimated by Spearman score. Sensitivity and specificity were estimated by pairwise comparison. The three assays showed poor agreement on patient samples with regards to concentration. Performance on virus culture was excellent but with different level of detection (LOD). Positive vs negative results show comparable sensitivity and specificity of Quanterix Simoa and Solsten ELISA, with a higher LOD in Elecsys ECLIA and thus lower sensitivity and high specificity. Abstract

This Letter reports the first measurement of the oscillation amplitude and frequency of reactor antineutrinos at Daya Bay via neutron capture on hydrogen using 1958 days of data. With over 3.6 million signal candidates, an optimized candidate selection, improved treatment of backgrounds and efficiencies, refined energy calibration, and an energy response model for the capture-on-hydrogen sensitive region, the relative ν[over ¯]&#95;{e} rates and energy spectra variation among the near and far detectors gives sin^{2}2θ&#95;{13}=0.0759&#95;{-0.0049}^{+0.0050} and Δm&#95;{32}^{2}=(2.72&#95;{-0.15}^{+0.14})×10^{-3}  eV^{2} assuming the normal neutrino mass ordering, and Δm&#95;{32}^{2}=(-2.83&#95;{-0.14}^{+0.15})×10^{-3}  eV^{2} for the inverted neutrino mass ordering. This estimate of sin^{2}2θ&#95;{13} is consistent with and essentially independent from the one obtained using the capture-on-gadolinium sample at Daya Bay. The combination of these two results yields sin^{2}2θ&#95;{13}=0.0833±0.0022, which represents an 8% relative improvement in precision regarding the Daya Bay full 3158-day capture-on-gadolinium result.

Abstract

This Letter presents results of a search for the mixing of a sub-eV sterile neutrino with three active neutrinos based on the full data sample of the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment, collected during 3158 days of detector operation, which contains 5.55×10^{6} reactor ν[over ¯]&#95;{e} candidates identified as inverse beta-decay interactions followed by neutron capture on gadolinium. The analysis benefits from a doubling of the statistics of our previous result and from improvements of several important systematic uncertainties. No significant oscillation due to mixing of a sub-eV sterile neutrino with active neutrinos was found. Exclusion limits are set by both Feldman-Cousins and CLs methods. Light sterile neutrino mixing with sin^{2}2θ&#95;{14}≳0.01 can be excluded at 95% confidence level in the region of 0.01  eV^{2}≲|Δm&#95;{41}^{2}|≲0.1  eV^{2}. This result represents the world-leading constraints in the region of 2×10^{-4}  eV^{2}≲|Δm&#95;{41}^{2}|≲0.2  eV^{2}.
