This paper considers the changes of the samurai's premises in the Jyonohashi-area referring to the `FUKUIJYOKA-EZU'. The premises of the north side and the east side of the Jyonohashi-area were the areas that depended on reduction and the increase of the samurai between Genbun 4 from Jokyo 3. As for the three wards in the north side, constitution of the streets and the allotment of the premises of the whole area greatly changed later from the middle of the Edo era. In the same way as allotment of the premises, many samurai performed premises substitution from Jokyo 3 to Genbun 4. It was the same area, but, in the east side and the west, the changes of the samurai's premises were greatly different.

The west side premises in Jyonohashi left the tradesmen ground of SHIBATA Era for the Keicho years and were done allotment of the premises. There were many premises substitutes of the west side premises in Jyonohashi soon after `TADAMASA' migrated to Fukui Castle Town in the beginning of Kanei Era. The allotment of the premises remained its west side premises from Manji 2 till the late Edo period. In the west side premises of the Jyonohashi, most premises were samurai residences through the Edo Era. The west side premises were different from the east side, which changed greatly twice after Jokyo 3 and after Kyoho 6.

The Kinoshita house in Katsuyama city, Kitagou-cho Ueno is the old farmers house which was built at 10th year of Tempo(1839) in Edo period. It is a typical case with the farmers houses that exist in the region in Fukui city, Ono city, and katsuyama city, etc. The Kinoshita house is one of the valuable, historical architecture in the Fukui prefecture.

本稿の目的は2つある。1つは、近年、わが国の国家戦略の1つともいえる「観光立国論」における「海洋観光」の重要性を明らかにすることある。もう1つは、わが国の高等教育・研究機関における観光学テーマとしての「海洋観光」の必要性を議論し、その発展的可能性を考察することにある。わが国の「観光立国」という戦略課題に対応して、観光分野での高度な専門知識を有する人材育成は急務であり、そのための大学教育の充実は、北海等大学大学院における「観光創造専攻」の設置を筆頭に、観光学関連の学部や学科の設立という形で、顕著に見られるようになってきている。しかしながら、大学院レベルは別として、新しい学部や学科では、カリキュラム上も、わが国の地理的、文化的、あるいは経済的背景からしても極めて重要な「海」という要素が観光との関連性において取り扱われる形跡はない。近年、一般的になりつつある大学マーケティングの視点からも、議論する必要があると考えられる。また、わが国は海運、海上交通においても、その歴史的発展過程から明らかなように、技術的水準でも世界のトップに位置している。このような恵まれた海洋資源の活用は、観光経済学の視点からも、これを抜きにしての「観光立国論」は存在しない。

Although the Internet is playing an increasingly significant role in global communication, it remains vulnerable to malicious traffic such as worms and DoS/DDoS attacks. In the last few years, the emergence of high speed active worms, such as Code Red II, Nimda, SQL Slammer and MS Blaster, has become a serious issue. These worms cause serious damage to communication networks throughout the world by using up network bandwidth. In addition, since conventional firewall systems are located just in front of the server and do not prevent malicious traffic from entering the network, they cannot prevent such network congestion. Therefore, the firewall between domains or between core routers should play important roles in the photonic networks. We have developed a prototype system of a network firewall using reconfigurable processors. In this paper, we overview tile developed system and present its evaluation results.

Background : Usefulness of endoscopic microwave coagulation therapy (E-MCT) was examined in 27 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Material and Methods : HCC was found in 8 patients with type B liver cirrhosis (LC), 16 patients with type C LC, and 3 patients with non B non C LC. Median tumor size was 23 mm (solitary lesion 22, multiple 5). Laparoscopic MCT was performed for S2-6 lesion and thoracoscopic MCT for S8 lesion under general anesthesia. Linear type ultrasonography was used in every case for monitoring lesion ant therapeutic effect.Results : Complete tumor necrosis was obtained in 24 cases (81%) and local recurrence was found in 5 cases after the observation period of maximum 34 months. Pleural abscess, hemorrhage and hepatic infarction were found in 3 cases without serious outcome.Conclusions : We conclude that E-MCT is quite promising therapy for surface type HCC in term of minimally invasive and curative procedure a time. It is important that sufficient marginal coagulation should be obtained.

This paper is the first version of a Japanese glossary of terms for structural developmental abnormalities in laboratory animals, mainly rats, mice and rabbits. This is a translation of the glossary entitled Terminology of Developmental Abnormalities in Common Laboratory Mammals that was edited by the International Federation of Teratology Societies (IFTS) Committee on International Harmonization of Nomenclature in Developmental Toxicology (IFTS glossary). The purpose of the present Japanese glossary is to provide a common vocabulary, terms and definitions in the description of abnormalities observed in reproductive and developmental toxicity studies. The glossary contains 868 observations, synonyms, related terms, definitions of the abnormalities and non-preferred terms for external, visceral and skeletal abnormalities in fetuses or neonates of laboratory animals. Modifying terms used repeatedly in the glossary (e. g., absent, atresia) are listed separately in Appendix A, and syndrome names that are generally known are listed in Appendix B. Translation was made into Japanese based on the following: 1) Observations are translated in order of organ/finding (e. g., thymus/absent, maxilla/fused) with exception of the terms in common use, 2) Words are appended where appropriate, when literal translation does not provide an adequate description, 3) A supplementary explanation is appended as an “annotation”, where appropriate, 4) Among the synonyms or related terms, the terms listed in Appendix A or the same Japanese translations as the observations are not described repeatedly, and 5) Non-preferred terms are not literally translated, and only those terms which are considered as adequate as Japanese are described. Suggestions, questions, and additions are welcomed on the Japanese terms and translations in the glossary. Revisions of the Japanese glossary are planned based on the comments received.

We have proposed uniformly beam-expanded structures based on the advanced concept for realizing high coupling efficiency and good temperature characteristics. Beam expansion (optical confinement reduction) by narrowing the core layer width as well as a carrier confinement are strongly enhanced by adopting a larger bandgap InGaAsP for MQW barriers and separate confinement heterostructure layers. These laser diodes (LD's) were fabricated by the conventional buried heterostructure laser process, which is very important in reducing the cost. Our results have proven the effectiveness of our proposition. The LD's with high coupling efficiency (-3.2 dB) and good temperature characteristics have been achieved even using the simple approach of reducing optical confinement. The threshold currents at 25 and 85/spl deg/C are 9.3 and 39.4 mA, respectively. The slope efficiency at 25/spl deg/C is 0.39 W/A and still high (0.26 W/A) even at 85/spl deg/C.

As part of the 5th collaborative study of the Collaborative Study Group for the Micronucleus Test (CSGMT), the sensitivity and advantages of the micronucleus assay using mouse peripheral blood cells were evaluated using 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP). The peripheral blood cells were collected from a tail vein of CD-1 male mice just before and 24-120 h after intraperitoneal injection. At 24-h intervals. The maximum incidence of micronucleated reticulocytes (MNRETs) at 50 mg/kg 5-FU was observed 96 h after injection; at 100 mg/kg, the peak was delayed to 120 h, and followed severe bone marrow depression. With 6-MP, maximum MNRETs were observed 48 h after treatment at all doses tested. At dose levels higher than 50 mg/kg, severe bone marrow depression was observed after maximum MNRETs. Though the appearance patterns of MNRETs and the bone marrow depression were different between 5-FU and 6-MP, the positive response of both chemical could be detected with this assay system as well as with the micronucleus test using femoral bone marrow cells.

A side-illuminated p-i-n photodetector with a multimode waveguide structure is proposed. Numerical and experimental results show that higher-order mode lights greatly enhance the coupling efficiency between the waveguide photodetector (WGPD) and a fiber, which leads to a high external quantum efficiency. The multimode WGPD has the major advantage that the external quantum efficiency and bandwidth can be derived independently of each other because the multimode waveguide structure can be designed without deteriorating electrical properties. The fabricated WGPD has an external quantum efficiency of 56% without AR coating and 68% with AR coating, and an electrical frequency 3 dB greater than 50 GHz at a 1.55- mu m wavelength. >
