Although magnetic reconnection plays a key role in the formation of a solar filament, the detailed formation process is still ambiguous. Combining the observational data from the New Vacuum Solar Telescope and the Solar Dynamics Observatory, we analyzed the formation of a U -shaped filament via successive magnetic reconnection in the AR NOAA 11598 on 2012 October 25. The successive reconnection occurred between a filament (F) and its nearby chromospheric fibrils (CF). The associated brightening and magnetic cancellation were observed. The changes in appearance of the CF at the reconnection site were accompanied by the formation and accumulation of some new magnetic loops, as well as plasmas propagated along the formed magnetic loops from the reconnection site, indicating the changes in the topology of the F and CF. These can provide comprehensive observational evidence for successive reconnection. After the reconnection, a longer U -shaped filament was formed. During the formation of the U -shaped filament, two major magnetic energy releases took place. While in the two energy release processes, the injected plasma from the reconnection site can provide part of the material for the formation of the U -shaped filament. Therefore, we conclude that the successive reconnection results in both the dynamical evolution and the subsequent formation associated with the U -shaped filament. And the results of nonlinear force-free field extrapolation demonstrated that the magnetic topology of the F was changed significantly; this is consistent with the observational results and further confirms the formation of the U -shaped filament.

We present the formation process of a filament in NOAA active region 12765 from 2020 June 5 to 8, using observations from the New Vacuum Solar Telescope, the Solar Dynamics Observatory, and the Global Oscillation Network Group. We found that intermittent small-scale magnetic reconnection occurs at the northern part of the filament, and the small-scale magnetic reconnection shows the characteristics of the oscillatory reconnections. During the magnetic reconnection process, a large amount of material is continuously injected into the filament channel. Furthermore, there are bidirectional inflow and outflow, current sheets, and bright cusp-shaped structures. The velocities of the material injections range from 17 to 183 km s ^−1 with an average velocity of about 57 km s ^−1 . A total of 53 material injections were found from 03:10 UT on 2020 June 5 to 00:10 UT on June 8. The total mass carried by the injection events is about 7.39 × 10 ^14 g, and the total kinetic energy released through magnetic reconnection is approximately 3.09 × 10 ^21 J. The projection area of the filament increased from less than 1 × 10 ^2 Mm ^2 to around 7 × 10 ^2 Mm ^2 . We conclude that the filament is formed by direct material injection into the filament channel due to the small-scale magnetic reconnections.

To better understand the physical connections in sympathetic solar eruptions, we investigated the interaction between two nearby filaments and their successive partial eruptions in the active region (AR) NOAA 12866 on 2021 September 9 by using data from the Solar Dynamics Observatory and the New Vacuum Solar Telescope. Based on H α and extreme ultraviolet observations, we found that the right part of one filament (F1) became active first and experienced an obvious rolling motion. Then the whole body of the filament became wider and expanded toward another filament (F2). They collided with each other, and the interaction between them was accompanied by the brightening and bidirectional flows that appeared between them. This implies that magnetic reconnection occurred between the threads of two filaments. The interaction resulted in a rightward motion of F2 at first, and then its activation, and finally part of it erupted. Furthermore, when the erupted F2 deflected rapidly toward the middle part of F1, the left part of F1 erupted with its overlying magnetic fields pushed by F2. These observational results imply that these successive eruptions within a short time are physically linked, and this was caused by the interaction of the filaments. Nonlinear force-free field extrapolation reveals that the magnetic structure of the filament F1 was composed of several magnetic flux ropes with different twists. These results further advance our understanding of partial filament eruptions and sympathetic solar eruptions.

We present observations and interpretation of a nonerupting filament in NOAA active region (AR) 12827 that undergoes splitting and restructuring on 2021 June 4, using the high-resolution data obtained by the New Vacuum Solar Telescope, the Solar Dynamics Observatory, and the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph. At the beginning, the right footpoint of the filament is rooted in the AR positive polarity, and its right leg has a spread-out structure, which is confirmed by the extrapolated 3D magnetic structure. Many small positive and negative magnetic polarities connected by EUV-emitting loops gradually appear between two extensions of the right footpoint polarity as the extensions separate. The right leg of the filament is then observed to split into two parts, which continue to separate, while the left part of the filament still maintains a whole structure. As the newly emerged magnetic loops rise between the two parts of the right leg, magnetic reconnection occurs between the newly emerged magnetic loops and the magnetic fields supporting the southeastern splitting part. The longer magnetic loops resulting from this reconnection merge with the magnetic fields of the other part of the split filament leg, thus reforming an entire filament with a displaced right footpoint. We conclude that magnetic emergence is responsible for the splitting of the filament leg, while magnetic reconnection leads to the reconstruction of the filament.

Purpose: While a pathologic complete response (pCR) is regarded as a surrogate endpoint for pos-itive outcomes in breast cancer (BC) patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), fore-casting the prognosis of non-pCR patients is still an open issue. This study aimed to create and evaluate nomogram models for estimating the likelihood of disease-free survival (DFS) for non-pCR patients. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 607 non-pCR BC patients was conducted (2012–2018). After converting continuous variables to categorical variables, variables entering the model were progressively identified by univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses, and then pre-NAC and post-NAC nomogram models were developed. Regarding their discrimination, ac-curacy, and clinical value, the performance of the models was evaluated by internal and external validation. Two risk assessments were performed for each patient based on two models; patients were separated into different risk groups based on the calculated cut-off values for each model, including low-risk (assessed by the pre-NAC model) to low-risk (assessed by the post-NAC model), high-risk to low-risk, low-risk to high-risk, and high-risk to high-risk groups. The DFS of different groups was assessed using the Kaplan–Meier method. Results: Both pre-NAC and post-NAC nomogram models were built with clinical nodal (cN) status and estrogen receptor (ER), Ki67, and p53 status (all p < 0.05), showing good discrimination and calibration in both internal and external validation. We also assessed the performance of the two models in four subtypes, with the tri-ple-negative subtype showing the best prediction. Patients in the high-risk to high-risk subgroup have significantly poorer survival rates (p < 0.0001). Conclusion: Two robust and effective nomo-grams were developed to personalize the prediction of DFS in non-pCR BC patients treated with NAC.

Grafting has been utilized to develop horticultural crops to increase plant vigor, yield potential, and tolerance to various environmental stresses. Grafting employs selected rootstocks of the same species or near relatives. Moreover, dwarfing is a desirable feature for intensive cultivation and efficient orchard management. However, information on the regulatory mechanisms of rootstock-induced vigor control remains unclear. Numerous studies comprehend the physiological and molecular mechanism of rootstock control scion vigor, which has significantly improved our understanding regarding vigor control processes in apple, litchi, pear, citrus, etc. This review summarizes the current knowledge on the impact of rootstocks on scion vigor and hormonal mechanisms involved in dwarfing, such as auxin (IAA), cytokinins (CK), abscisic acid (ABA), gibberellic acids (GAs), and brassinosteroids (BR). This study will provide fascinating information for future studies on rootstock-induced dwarfing effects and accelerate the breeding of dwarfing rootstocks.

In recent years, the consensus control has become a research hotspot in microgrid cooperative control. However, when the VSG control is applied, the system has higher order, more parameters and more complex dynamic response. And there are few studies on the dynamic characteristics of parallel VSGs with the consensus control. Aiming at this problem, the small signal state space model of parallel VSG with consensus based secondary control is established in this paper firstly. Then the influences of damping, inertia, secondary control parameters on dynamic response are analyzed, and the design criterion of secondary control parameters is proposed. Finally, the simulation results verify the accuracy of model and correctness of conclusions.

Abstract Purpose To evaluate the operation and early clinical effect in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) about the novel combination of CT-based patient-specific three-dimensional (3D) preoperative design and conventional osteotomy instruments, compared with the conventional method. Methods After a 1:1 propensity score-matching (PSM), patients were matched to the novel technique group and the conventional group, 109 cases in each group. The conventional group adopted a preoperative design based on a full-length radiograph (FLX) and received TKA with conventional osteotomy instruments. The novel technique group used a CT-based patient-specific 3D preoperative design combined with conventional osteotomy instruments; during the surgery, the femoral entry point, femoral valgus osteotomy angle, the fix point of tibial plateau extramedullary guide pin, and the position of tibial extramedullary positioning rod were accurately selected according to the preoperative 3D design to ensure accurate intraoperative implementation. The lower limb alignment, component position, operation time, tourniquet time, hospital stay, blood loss volume, incidence of postoperative complications, visual analog scale (Vas) score, and New Knee Society Score System (NEW-KSS) at 1 day before operation and 1, 6, and 12 months after operation were recorded and compared. Results The novel technique group was significantly better than the conventional group in controlling lateral tibial component angle (LTC) (P < 0.001), and the novel technique group had lower percentages of hip-knee-ankle angle (HKA) outliers (P < 0.001) and overcorrection (P = 0.003). The operation time, tourniquet time, and hospital stay of the novel technique group was shorter (P < 0.05). In 1 month after the operation, the novel technique group achieved a significantly better VAS score (P < 0.05), but a similar NEW-KSS score (P > 0.05) when compared with the conventional group. But in 6 and 12 months after surgery, no statistical differences were seen in the above two scores (P > 0.05). Conclusion The novel technique of CT-based patient-specific 3D preoperative design combined with conventional instruments can improve the accuracy of osteotomy in primary total knee arthroplasty, with benefits of significantly reducing pain and rapid recovery during the early postoperative period, but having no obvious effect on outcome after a 1-year follow-up.

Nighttime light remote sensing images show significant application potential in marine ship monitoring, but in areas where ships are densely distributed, the detection accuracy of the current methods is still limited. This article considered the LJ1-01 data as an example, compared with the National Polar-orbiting Partnership (NPP)/Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) data, and explored the application of high-resolution nighttime light images in marine ship detection. The radiation values of the aforementioned two images were corrected to achieve consistency, and the interference light sources of the ship light were filtered. Then, when the threshold segmentation and two-parameter constant false alarm rate methods are combined, the ships’ location information was with obtained, and the reliability of the results was analyzed. The results show that the LJ1-01 data can not only record more potential ship light but also distinguish the ship light and background noise in the data. The detection accuracy of the LJ1-01 data in both ship detection methods is significantly higher than that of the NPP/VIIRS data. This study analyzes the characteristics, performance, and application potential of the high-resolution nighttime light data in the detection of marine vessels. The relevant results can provide a reference for the high-precision monitoring of nighttime marine ships.

Breast cancer (BC) is the second leading cause of death among women and is highly heterogeneous. Three pyroptosis (PR) subtypes were identified in patients with BC from the Cancer Genome Atlas Database (TCGA) cohorts using 20 PR-related regulators, which illustrate a strong association between BC prognosis and PR. Lung metastasis commonly occurs in the advanced stages of BC, resulting in a poor quality of life. Eight differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs were identified using LASSO–Cox analysis between PR-related and BC lung metastasis. Moreover, a BRCA risk-score (RS) model was established using multivariate Cox regression, which correlated with prognosis in TCGA-BRCA. Clinical characteristics, tumor mutation burden, and tumor immune cell infiltration were extensively investigated between high- and low-RS groups. Similarly, a lower RS implied longer overall survival, greater inflammatory cell infiltration, and better immunotherapeutic response to PD-1 blockers. Our findings provide a foundation for future studies targeting PR and confirme that RS could predict the prognosis of patients with BC.

BackgroundRepetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) applied to the mylohyoid cortical region has positive clinical effects on post-stroke. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the efficacy of rTMS for patients with post-stroke dysphagia.MethodsAccording to PRISMA guidelines, we searched the databases of MEDLINE (PubMed), Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, Wangfang. We searched for studies of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of rTMS to treat dysphagia after stroke and screened by inclusion and exclusion criteria. Features of RCTs were extracted. The heterogeneity of the trials was measured by I2 statistic.ResultsIn total, 11 RCTs with 463 dysphagia patients fulfilled our inclusion criteria. In our analysis, rTMS demonstrated a great beneficial effect for post-stroke dysphagia when combined with traditional swallowing exercises. Moreover, a greatly significant difference (P = 0.008) was noted based on stimulation frequency (high frequency vs. low frequency). Additionally, no significant difference (P = 0.53) was observed based on stimulation site (affected vs. unaffected hemisphere).ConclusionsOverall, rTMS can effectively accelerate the improvement of swallowing function in patients with post-stroke swallowing disorders.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to examine the effectiveness and safety of the Brain-computer interface (BCI) in treatment of upper limb dysfunction after stroke.MethodsEnglish and Chinese electronic databases were searched up to July 2021. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were eligible. The methodological quality was assessed using Cochrane’s risk-of-bias tool. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4.ResultsA total of 488 patients from 16 RCTs were included. The results showed that (1) the meta-analysis of BCI-combined treatment on the improvement of the upper limb function showed statistical significance [standardized mean difference (SMD): 0.53, 95% CI: 0.26–0.80, P < 0.05]; (2) BCI treatment can improve the abilities of daily living of patients after stroke, and the analysis results are statistically significant (SMD: 1.67, 95% CI: 0.61–2.74, P < 0.05); and (3) the BCI-combined therapy was not statistically significant for the analysis of the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) (SMD: −0.10, 95% CI: −0.50 to 0.30, P = 0.61).ConclusionThe meta-analysis indicates that the BCI therapy or BCI combined with other therapies such as conventional rehabilitation training and motor imagery training can improve upper limb dysfunction after stroke and enhance the quality of daily life.

Background. Rehabilitation of upper extremity hemiplegia after stroke remains a great clinical challenge, with only 20% of patients achieving a basic return to normal hand function. How to promote the recovery of motor function at an early stage is crucial to the life of the patient. Objectives. To invest the effects of additional mirror therapy in improving upper limb motor function and activities of daily living in acute and subacute stroke patients, and further explore the effects of other factors on the efficacy of MT. Methods. Participants who presented with unilateral upper extremity paralysis due to a first ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke were included in the study. They were randomly allocated to the experimental or control group. Patients in the control group received occupational therapy for 30 minutes each session, six times a week, for three weeks, while patients in the experimental group received 30 minutes of additional mirror therapy based on occupational therapy. The primary outcome measures were Fugl-Meyer Assessment—upper extremity (FMA-UE), Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), and Instrumental Activity of Daily Living (IADL) which were evaluated by two independent occupational therapists before treatment and after 3-week treatment. A paired t-test was used to compare the values between pretreatment and posttreatment within an individual group. Two-sample t-test was utilized to compare the changes (baseline to postintervention) between the two groups. Results. A total of 52 stroke patients with unilateral upper extremity motor dysfunction who were able to actively cooperate with the training were included in this study. At baseline, no significant differences were found between groups regarding demographic and clinical characteristics (P>0.05 for all). Upper limb motor function and ability to perform activities of daily living of the patients were statistically improved in both groups towards the third week (P0.05). The subgroup analysis showed that no significant heterogeneity was observed in age, stroke type, lesion side, and clinical stage (P>0.05). Conclusion. In conclusion, some positive changes in aspects of upper limb motor function and the ability to perform instrumental activities of daily living compared with routine occupational therapy were observed in additional mirror therapy. Therefore, the application of additional mirror therapy training should be reconsidered to improve upper extremity motor in stroke patients.

Photocatalytic CO2 conversion into value‐added chemicals is the one‐stone–two‐birds approach to help meet the carbon neutral goal of near future, and lies on the development of competent photocatalysts that efficiently generate and separate the electron‐hole pairs. Herein, through reticular chemistry a p–n heterojunction is constructed on Cu2O nanocubes by in situ transforming the surface to metal–porphyrin coordination polymer. The resulted Cu2O@Cu‐TCPP core–shell heterostructure, when used for catalyzing CO2 reduction, exhibits not only improved activity, but also enhanced reduction depth. This boosted reducing power is attributed to the improved charge separation efficiency and thus populated charge carriers, as a result of the built‐in electron field of the p–n heterojunction. In addition, the Cu‐TCPP coating serves as a protecting sheath to mitigate the self‐corrosion of Cu2O. Consequently, this study opens a new avenue of photocatalyst design and fabrication for simultaneously promoting multielectron products and ameliorating photocorrosion issues.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic lung disease attributed to the complex interplay of genetic and environmental risks. The muco-ciliary clearance (MCC) system plays a critical role in maintaining the conduit for air to and from the alveoli, but it remains poorly understood whether the MCC abnormalities in conducting airway are involved in IPF pathogenesis. In this study, we obtained the surgically resected bronchi and peripheral lung tissues from 31 IPF patients and 39 control subjects, and we sought to explore the morphologic characteristics of MCC in conducting airway by using immunostaining and scanning and transmission electron microscopy. This study is aimed at exploring the potential mechanism of the PPAR signaling pathway in breast cancer (BRCA) and constructing a novel prognostic-related risk model. We used various bioinformatics methods and databases to complete our exploration in this research. Based on TCGA database, we use multiple extension packages based on the R language for data conversion, processing, and statistics. We use LASSO regression analysis to establish a prognostic-related risk model in BRCA. And we combined the data of multiple online websites, including GEPIA, ImmuCellAI, TIMER, GDSC, and the Human Protein Atlas database to conduct a more in-depth exploration of the risk model. Based on the mRNA data in TCGA database, we conducted a preliminary screening of genes related to the PPAR signaling pathway through univariate Cox analysis, then used LASSO regression analysis to conduct a second screening, and successfully established a risk model consisting of ten genes in BRCA. The results of ROC curve analysis show that the risk model has good prediction accuracy. We can successfully divide breast cancer patients into high- and low-risk groups with significant prognostic differences (P=1.92e−05) based on this risk model. Combined with the clinical data in TCGA database, there is a correlation between the risk model and the patient’s N, T, gender, and fustat. The results of multivariate Cox regression show that the risk score of this risk model can be used as an independent risk factor for BRCA patients. In particular, we draw a nomogram that can predict the 5-, 7-, and 10-year survival rates of BRCA patients. Subsequently, we conducted a series of pancancer analyses of CNV, SNV, OS, methylation, and immune infiltration for this risk model gene and used GDSC data to investigate drug sensitivity. Finally, to gain insight into the predictive value and protein expression of these risk model genes in breast cancer, we used GEO and HPA databases for validation. This study provides valuable clues for future research on the PPAR signaling pathway in BRCA.

Increasing evidence demonstrates that microorganisms and their products can modulate host responses to cancer therapies and contribute to tumor shrinkage via various mechanisms, including intracellular signaling pathways modulation and immunomodulation. Detoxified pneumolysin derivative ΔA146Ply is a pneumolysin mutant lacking hemolytic activity. To determine the antitumor activity of ΔA146Ply, the combination of ΔA146Ply and berbamine, a well-established antitumor agent, was used for breast cancer therapy, especially for triple-negative breast cancer. The efficacy of the combination therapy was evaluated in vitro using four breast cancer cell lines and in vivo using a synergistic mouse tumor model. We demonstrated that in vitro, the combination therapy significantly inhibited cancer cell proliferation, promoted cancer cell apoptosis, caused cancer cell-cycle arrest, and suppressed cancer cell migration and invasion. In vivo, the combination therapy significantly suppressed tumor growth and prolonged the median survival time of tumor-bearing mice partially through inhibiting tumor cell proliferation, promoting tumor cell apoptosis, and activating systemic antitumor immune responses. The safety analysis demonstrated that the combination therapy showed no obvious liver and kidney toxicity to tumor-bearing mice. Our study provides a new treatment option for breast cancer and lays the experimental basis for the development of ΔA146Ply as an antitumor agent.

Abstract Background Many previous studies lack sufficient quantitative evidences about changes in biomechanical properties of the knee in response to proximal fibular osteotomy (PFO). Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the preoperative and postoperative effects of PFO on mechanical stresses in the knee joint and provide with a biomechanical basis for PFO in the treatment of mild knee osteoarthritis (KOA) with varus deformity. Methods A total of 10 patients suffering mild KOA with varus deformity were enrolled in this study. Their image data from computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were used for finite element models, and PFO models were established. Static structural analysis was carried out using ABAQUS to compare the von Mises stress distribution and values of the maximal von Mises stress of femoral cartilage, meniscuses, tibial cartilages, and tibial plateau before and after surgery. Results The stress distribution in the cortical bone of the tibial plateau showed that stresses were transferred from the anterior medial area to the posterior medial area after PFO. Values of the maximal von Mises stress in femoral cartilage, medial meniscus, medial tibial cartilage, and tibial plateau after surgery were significantly lower than the preoperative values, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Postoperative values of the maximal von Mises stress of lateral meniscus and lateral tibial cartilage were significantly higher than the preoperative ones, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion PFO could reduce the stresses in the medial compartment of the knee joint with stress pathways transferring from the anterior medial area to the posterior medial area of the tibial plateau. Therefore, PFO is recommended for the treatment of mild KOA with varus deformity featuring favorably pain-relieving effects. Graphical abstract

Abstract Background The association between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung function and risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains controversial. We performed a meta-analysis to clarify this issue. Methods The PubMed and EMBASE databases were searched. Cohort studies on COPD, lung function and risk of T2DM in adults were included. A random effects model was adopted to calculate the summary risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Dose-response analysis was conducted where possible. Results A total of 13 eligible cohort studies involving 307,335 incident T2DM cases and 7,683,784 individuals were included. The risk of T2DM was significantly higher in patients with COPD than those without COPD (RR = 1.25, 95% CI 1.16–1.34). Compared to the highest category of percentage forced vital capacity (FVC%), the lowest category of FVC% was associated with a higher risk of T2DM (RR = 1.43, 95% CI 1.33–1.53). Similarly, the summary RR of T2DM for the lowest versus highest category of percentage forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1%) was 1.49 (95% CI 1.39–1.60). Significant linear associations of FVC% and FEV1% with risk of T2DM were found (P non-linearity > 0.05); the RR of T2DM was 0.88 (95% CI 0.82–0.95) and 0.87 (95% CI 0.81–0.94) per 10% increase in FVC% and FEV1%, respectively. There was a non-significant relationship between the FEV1/FVC ratio and the risk of T2DM. Conclusions Both COPD and impaired lung function, especially restricted ventilation dysfunction, could increase the risk of T2DM. However, these findings should be interpreted with caution due to the limited number of studies, and need to be validated by future studies.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication of sepsis. Long noncoding RNA nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) plays a vital role in various diseases, including AKI. This study aimed to investigate the function and mechanism of NEAT1 in sepsis-induced AKI.

Objective Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is one of the most universal and effective means for treating terminal stage osteoarthritis (OA) of knee. Accurate intramedullary guide of femur is the basis for the distal femoral cuts. Determining the surgical transepicondylar axis (sTEA) is the key to reconstruction of the femoral rotational alignment, because the correct rotational alignment can place the femoral component in the right position, balance the flexion gap so that the inner and outer tension is equal, get stability during the flexion process of the knee, and enhance the quality of life of patients. With the development of three‐dimensional printing (3DP) technology in the medical domain, the application of patient‐specific instrumentation (PSI) in arthroplasty has become more common. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of a novel 3D‐printed patient‐specific intramedullary guide to control femoral component rotation in TKA. Methods Eighty patients (65 females and 15 males) with knee OA were included in this prospective randomized study. The patients were divided into two groups by random number table method, 40 in each group. TKA assisted by PSI (PSI group) and conventional TKA (conventional group) was performed respectively. Clinical outcomes [operation time, postoperative drainage volume, duration of drainage, Hospital for Special Surgery knee score (HSS), American Knee Society knee score (AKS)] and radiological outcomes [hip‐knee‐ankle angle (HKA), posterior condylar angle (PCA), patella transverse axis‐femoral transepicondylar axis angle (PFA), depth of intramedullary guide] were compared between and within the two groups. Results PSI group had less postoperative drainage volume but longer operation time than the conventional group (P < 0.05). The AKS and HSS scores after surgery were improved compared with those before surgery in each group (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the duration of drainage and range of motion (ROM) after surgery between the two groups. For the radiological results, the HKA and PFA were improved after surgery in both groups (P < 0.05).The postoperative PFA and PCA of the PSI group were closer to 0°, which was better than that of the conventional group (P < 0.05). The depth of intramedullary guide in the PSI group was less than the conventional group (P < 0.05). But there was no significant difference in HKA before and after surgery between the two groups as well as the preoperative PFA. Conclusion The short‐term clinical efficacy of TKA assisted by PSI was similar to the conventional TKA. Although TKA assisted by PSI spent more time during operation, it could assist in intramedullary guide and align femoral rotation more accurately.

Most of the widely used multi-view 3D reconstruction algorithms assume that object appearance is predominantly diffuse and full of good texture. For the objects that violate this restriction, the surface can hardly be reconstructed because such area lacks sufficient support from dense point clouds. To tackle this problem, we introduce a novel two-stage prior-guided method based on point clouds enhancement to enable the application of multi-view reconstruction approaches in such scenes. In the first stage, we optimize the original PlaneNet plane segmentation priors by taking advantage of the estimated depth map and confidence map from multi-view stereo. In the second stage, we correct and supply 3D point clouds for the weakly supported plane surface on the basis of the upgraded priors. Furthermore, we utilize a slight disturbance of the enhanced point clouds to facilitate the subsequent mesh reconstruction. The proposed point cloud enhancement approach is evaluated on the large-scale $DTU$ dataset. Our method significantly outperforms previous multi-view stereo state-of-the-arts. We also demonstrate weakly supported plane surface reconstruction results from real-world photos that are unachievable with either the methods aiming at preserving weakly supported surfaces or the traditional state-of-the-art 3D reconstruction systems.

Objective To investigate the changes in the expression of fibroblast growth factor receptors 1-3 (FGFR1-3) at different stages of osteogenic differentiation and clarify the role of FGFR signaling in osteogenic differentiation. Methods Mouse osteoblasts in primary culture and osteoblast cell line MC3T3-E1 were induced for osteogenic differentiation, and the cell differentiation was identified by morphological observation, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) staining and alizarin red staining. qRT-PCR and Western blotting were used to detect the expression of FGFR1-3 and the genes involved in osteogenic differentiation, and the effect of blocking FGFR signaling on osteoblast differentiation was observed. Results The primary mouse osteoblasts were positive to ALP staining and alizarin red staining. The expression of COL 1α, RUNX2 and OPN was increased during osteogenic differentiation in both mouse osteoblasts and MC3T3-E1 cells. The expression of FGFR1, FGFR2 and FGFR3 was also increased in the cells during osteogenic differentiation, and blocking FGFR signaling significantly inhibited osteogenic differentiation of the cells, suggesting the regulatory role of FGFR signaling in osteoblast differentiation. Conclusion FGFR signaling promotes osteogenic differentiation of osteoblasts.

Background: Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangitis manifested as myocardial infarction with non-obstructed coronary arteries (MINOCA) is rarely reported.Case: We report a 43-year-old male patient without any cardiovascular risk factors presenting with acute chest pain. Electrocardiogram was suggestive of acute anterior and inferior myocardial infarction. MINOCA was confirmed based on significant elevated cardiac troponin and normal coronary arteries. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging revealed extended late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). Further diagnosis of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangitis (EGPA) was based on clinical manifestations and auxiliary examination. Subsequent immunosuppressive therapy led to regression of symptoms and significant resolution of LGE on CMR.Conclusion: Our case highlights that EGPA can be a rare cause of MINOCA. CMR is useful for differentiation diagnosis and evaluation of cardiac involvement.

Cataracts are an ailment representing the leading cause of blindness in the world. The pathogenesis of cataracts is not clear, and there is no effective treatment. An increasing amount of evidence shows that oxidative stress and autophagy in lens epithelial cells play a key role in the occurrence and development of cataracts. Buddleja officinalis Maxim flavonoids (BMF) are natural antioxidants and regulators that present anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects, among others. In this study, we optimized the extraction method of BMFs and detected three of their main active monomers (luteolin, apigenin, and acacetin). In addition, a model of oxidative damage model using rabbit lens epithelial cells induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). By detecting the levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), malondialdehyde (MDA), and OH (OH), the expression of autophagosomes and autolysosomes were observed after MRFP-GFP-LC3 adenovirus was introduced into the cells. Western blotting was used to detect the expression of Beclin-1 and P62. Our research results showed that the optimal extraction parameters to obtain the highest yield of total flavonoids were a liquid–solid ratio of 1:31 g/mL, an ethanol volume fraction of 67%, an extraction time of 2.6 h, and an extraction temperature of 58 °C. Moreover, the content of luteolin was 690.85 ppb, that of apigenin was 114.91 ppb, and the content of acacetin was 5.617 ppb. After oxidative damage was induced by H2O2, the cell survival rate decreased significantly. BMFs could increase the levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and decrease the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and OH (OH). After the MRFP-GFP-LC3 virus was introduced into rabbit lens epithelial cells and detecting the expression of P62 and Beclin-1, we found that the intervention of BMF could promote the binding of autophagosomes to lysosomes. Compared with the model group, the level of P62 in the low-, middle-, and high-dose groups of BMF was significantly down-regulated, the level of Beclin-1 was significantly increased, and the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). In other words, the optimized extraction method was better than others, and the purified BMF contained three main active monomers (luteolin, apigenin, and acacetin). In addition, BMFs could ameliorate the H2O2-induced oxidative damage to rabbit lens cells by promoting autophagy and regulating the level of antioxidation.

Image-to-point cloud registration refers to finding relative transformation between the camera and the reference frame of the 3D point cloud, which is critical for autonomous driving. Recently, a two-stage “frustum point cloud classification + camera pose optimization” pipeline has shown impressive results on this task. This paper focuses on the second stage and reformulates the optimization procedure as a Markov decision process. An initial pose is modified incrementally, sequentially aligning a virtual 3D point observation towards a previous classification solution. We consider such an iterative update process as a reinforcement learning task and, to this end, propose a novel agent (AgentI2P) to conduct decision making. To guide AgentI2P, we employ behaviour cloning (BC) and reinforcement learning (RL) techniques: cloning an expert to learn accurate pose movement and reinforcing an alignment reward to improve the policy further. [We demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on Oxford Robotcar and KITTI datasets. The (RTE, RRE) metrics are (1.34m,1.46∘) on Oxford Robotcar and (3.90m,5.94∘) on KITTI, and the inference time is 60 ms, both achieving state-of-the-art performance]. The source code will be publicly available upon publication of the paper.

Cross-spectral local feature matching between visual and thermal images benefits many vision tasks in low-light environments, including image-to-image fusion and camera re-localization. An essential prerequisite for unleashing the potential of supervised deep learning algorithms in the area of visible–thermal matching is the availability of large-scale and high-quality annotated datasets. However, publicly available datasets are either in relative small quantity scales or have limited pose annotations due to the expensive cost of data acquisition and annotation, which severely hinders the development of this field. In this paper, we proposed a multi-view thermal–visible image dataset for large-scale cross-spectral matching. We first recovered a 3D reference model from a group of collected RGB images, in which a certain image (bridge) shares almost the same pose as the thermal query. We then effectively registered the thermal image to the model based on manually annotating a 2D-2D tie point between the bridge and the thermal. In this way, through simply annotating one same viewpoint image pair, numerous overlapping image pairs between thermal and visible could be available. We also proposed a semi-automatic approach for generating accurate supervision for training multi-view cross-spectral matching. Specifically, our dataset consists of 40,644 cross-modal pairs with well supervision, covering multiple complex scenes. In addition, we also provided the camera metadata, 3D reference model, depth map of the visible images and 6-DoF pose of all images. We extensively evaluated the performance of state-of-the-art algorithms on our dataset and provided a comprehensive analysis of the results. We will publish our dataset and pre-processing code.

Dwarfing is an important agricultural trait for intensive cultivation and effective orchard management in modern fruit orchards. Commercial citrus production relies on grafting with rootstocks that reduce tree vigor to control plant height. Citrus growers all over the world have been attracted to dwarfing trees because of their potential for higher planting density, increased productivity, easy harvest, pruning, and efficient spraying. Dwarfing rootstocks can be used to achieve high density. As a result, the use and development of dwarfing rootstocks are important. Breeding programs in several countries have led to the production of citrus dwarf rootstocks. For example, the dwarfing rootstocks ‘Flying Dragon’, ‘FA 517’, ‘HTR-051’, ‘US-897’, and ‘Red tangerine’ cultivated in various regions allow the design of dense orchards. Additionally, dwarf or short-stature trees were obtained using interstocks, citrus dwarfing viroid (CDVd) and various chemical applications. This review summarizes what is known about dwarf citrus rootstocks and the mechanisms underlying rootstock–scion interactions. Despite advances in recent decades, many questions regarding rootstock-induced scion development remain unanswered. Citrus rootstocks with dwarfing potential have been investigated regarding physiological aspects, hormonal communication, mineral uptake capacity, and horticultural performance. This study lays the foundation for future research into the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying citrus dwarfing.

To improve the energy-efficiency of transport systems, it is necessary to investigate electric trains with on-board hybrid energy storage devices (HESDs), which are applied to assist the traction and recover the regenerative energy. In this paper, a time-based mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model is proposed to obtain the energy-saving operation for electric trains with different constraints of on-board HESDs, such as their capacity, initial state of charge (SOC), and level of degradation. The proposed integrated power flow model based on the train longitudinal dynamics, power split of on-board HESDs, and line impedance is discretized and linearized, aiming to minimize the net energy consumption (NEC). The results reveal that on-board HESDs with a higher capacity does not necessarily lead to a higher energy-saving rate; a lower or excessive initial SOC could undermine the energy-saving potential; considering the long-term train operation, the degradation of the Li-ion battery will influence the energy-saving operation for electric trains, as well as result in an energy-saving rate that ranges from 41.57% to 31.90%. The practical data from Guangzhou Metro Line 7 were applied in the simulations, which enhanced the practicality and effectiveness of the proposed method.

The investigation aims to study the effects of temperature and damage constitutive model on the energy absorption performance of polymeric origami tubes under quasi-static impact. The uniaxial tensile responses of 3D-printed polylactic acid (PLA) samples following standard ASTM-D412 have been studied to characterize the mechanical properties at three temperatures: 30 °C, 40 °C, and 50 °C. The damage constitutive model is used to accurately characterize the stress-strain relations of the PLA. Quasi-static compressive experiments are performed on polymetric tubes with different temperatures. The 3D-printed technique is used to ensure the integrated formation of these polymeric origami tubes. The user-defined material subroutine VUMAT for ABAQUS/Explicit has been developed for the damage model. Compared with the results, the observed deformation processes are well captured by the numerical simulations, and the influence of temperature on the axial compression is also analyzed in detail.

Abstract Spinel oxides are considered as promising low‐cost non‐precious metal electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) due to their desirable catalytic activities and fast kinetics. However, as a result of the structural complexity of spinel oxides, systematic and in‐depth studies on enhancing the OER performance of spinel oxides remain inadequate. In particular, the construction of active sites regarding the large number of unoccupied octahedral interstices has not yet been explored. Herein, more octahedral sites with high OER activities are constructed on the surface of spinel oxides via a cationic misalignment, which is induced by the defects in the spinel oxide solutions, i.e., MoFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 nanosheets supported on an iron foam (MCFO NS/IF). With increased active sites and modified electronic structure, the state‐of‐the‐art electrocatalyst exhibits the excellent OER catalytic activity with an onset potential of 1.41 V versus RHE and an overpotential of 290 mV to achieve a current density of 500 mA cm−2. Moreover, such an electrocatalyst also demonstrates fast kinetics with the Tafel slope of 38 mV dec−1 and superior durability by maintaining the OER activity at 250 mA cm−2 for 1000 h.

Interconnections are essential for integrating the packaging substrate, and defect-free copper-filling can further improve the reliability in through holes (THs). The coating properties and filling processes are mainly dominated by the interplays among additives in the direct current electroplating. The acidic copper sulfate electroplating solution contained three typical convection-dependent additives and chloride ions (Cl−). The THs with aspect ratios (ARs) of 6.25, 5, and 4.17 (thickness of 500 μm) were selected as the study subjects. The effects of Cl− and ARs on the interactions among the additives were investigated in detail using electrochemical measurements, which were verified by the THs filling experiments. The additive compounds present a convection enhanced inhibition effect and cathodic polarization, leading to a copper filling capacity increase with ARs and the amelioration of copper compactness and corrosion resistance. The defect-free copper filling of THs and a uniform mirror bright surface circuit can be achieved simultaneously using compound additives at a relatively high speed.

Introduction The perinatal–postnatal family environment is associated with childhood outcomes including impacts on physical and mental health and educational attainment. Family longitudinal cohort studies collect in-depth data that can capture the influence of an era on family lifestyle, mental health, chronic disease, education and financial stability to enable identification of gaps in society and provide the evidence for changes in government in policy and practice.Methods and analysis The Queensland Family Cohort (QFC) is a prospective, observational, longitudinal study that will recruit 12 500 pregnant families across the state of Queensland (QLD), Australia and intends to follow-up families and children for three decades. To identify the immediate and future health requirements of the QLD population; pregnant participants and their partners will be enrolled by 24 weeks of gestation and followed up at 24, 28 and 36 weeks of gestation, during delivery, on-ward, 6 weeks postpartum and then every 12 months where questionnaires, biological samples and physical measures will be collected from parents and children. To examine the impact of environmental exposures on families, data related to environmental pollution, household pollution and employment exposures will be linked to pregnancy and health outcomes. Where feasible, data linkage of state and federal government databases will be used to follow the participants long term. Biological samples will be stored long term for future discoveries of biomarkers of health and disease.Ethics and dissemination Ethical approval has been obtained from the Mater Research Ethics (HREC/16/MHS/113). Findings will be reported to (1) QFC participating families; (2) funding bodies, institutes and hospitals supporting the QFC; (3) federal, state and local governments to inform policy; (4) presented at local, national and international conferences and (5) disseminated by peer-review publications.

PurposeTo assess T2*-weighted imaging (T2*WI) and reduced field-of-view diffusion-weighted Imaging (rDWI) derived parameters and their relationships with histopathological factors in patients with rectal cancer.MethodsFifty-four patients with pathologically-proven rectal cancer underwent preoperative T2*-weighted imaging and rDWI in this retrospective study. R2* values from T2*-weighted imaging and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from rDWI were compared in terms of different histopathological prognostic factors using student’s t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test. The correlations of R2* and ADC with prognostic factors were assessed by Spearman correlation analysis. The diagnostic performances of R2* and ADC were analyzed by receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC) separately and jointly.ResultsSignificant positive correlation was found between R2* values and T stage, lymph node involvement, histological grades, CEA level, the presence of EMVI and tumor deposit (r = 0.374 ~ 0.673, p = 0.000–0.006), with the exception of CA19-9 level, CRM status and tumor involvement in the circumference lumen (TIL). Meanwhile, ADC values negatively correlated with almost all the prognostic factors (r = −0.588 to −0.299, p = 0.000–0.030), except CA19-9 level. The AUC range was 0.724–0.907 for R2* and 0.674–0.887 for ADC in discrimination of different prognostic factors. While showing the highest AUC of 0.913 (0.803–1.000) in differentiation of T stage, combination of R2* and ADC with reference to different prognostic factors did not significantly improve the diagnostic performance in comparison with individual R2*/ADC parameter.ConclusionsR2* and ADC were associated with important histopathological prognostic factors of rectal cancer. R2* might act as additional quantitative imaging marker for tumor characterization of rectal cancer.

Background: The clinical efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) protocols on patients with poststroke dysphagia is still unclear.Objective: This trial aimed to explore and analyze the effectiveness of 5 Hz rTMS on the unaffected hemisphere, affected hemisphere, and cerebellum in stroke patients with dysphagia.Methods: This observer-blind and randomized controlled trial included a total of 147 patients with stroke. Patients were divided into four treatment groups: the unaffected hemispheric group, the affected hemispheric group, the cerebellum group and the control group. Each group received traditional dysphagia treatment 5 days a week for 2 weeks. All recruited patients except for those in the control group underwent 10 consecutive rTMS sessions for 2 weeks. For the affected hemispheric group and unaffected hemispheric group, 5 Hz rTMS was applied to the affected mylohyoid cortical region or to the unaffected mylohyoid cortical region. For the cerebellum group, 5 Hz rTMS was applied to the mylohyoid cortical representation of the cerebellum (4.3 cm lateral and 2.4 cm below the inion). The Fiberoptic Endoscopic Dysphagia Severity Scale (FEDSS), Penetration/Aspiration Scale (PAS), Gugging Swallowing Screen (GUSS), and Standardized Swallowing Assessment (SSA) were used to evaluate clinical swallowing function before the intervention (baseline), immediately after the intervention and 2 weeks after the intervention.Results: There were significant time and intervention interaction effects on the FEDSS, PAS, SSA, and GUSS scores (p < 0.05). In a direct comparison of the swallowing parameters of the four groups, the changes in FEDSS, PAS, SSA, and GUSS scores showed a significantly greater improvement in the unaffected hemispheric group, the affected hemispheric group and cerebellum group than in the control group (p < 0.05).Conclusions: Whether stimulating the unaffected hemisphere or the affected hemisphere, 5 Hz high-frequency rTMS on mylohyoid cortical tissue might have a positive effect on poststroke patients with dysphagia. In addition, cerebellar rTMS is a safe method that represents a potential treatment for poststroke dysphagia, and more clinical trials are needed to develop this technique further.Clinical Trial Registration:chictr.org.cn, identifier: ChiCTR2000032255.

Background: Cigarette smoke exposure (CSE) is a major cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The smoke disrupts cell-cell adhesion by inducing epithelial barrier damage to the tight junction (TJ) proteins. Even though the inflammatory mechanism of chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 3 (CCL3) in COPD has gained increasing attention in the research community, however, the underlying signaling pathway, remains unknown.Objectives: To identify the relationship of CCL3 in the pathogenesis of tight junction impairment in COPD and the pathway through which CSE causes damage to TJ in COPD via CCL3, both in vivo and in vitro.Methods: We screened the inflammatory factors in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from healthy controls and patients at each GOLD 1-4 stage of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. RT-PCR, western blot, and ELISA were used to detect the levels of CCL3, ZO-1, and occludin after Cigarette smoke exposure. Immunofluorescence was applied to examine the impairment of the TJs in 16-HBE and A549 cells. The reverse assay was used to detect the effect of a CCR5 antagonist (DAPTA) in COPD. In the CSE-induced COPD mouse model, H&E staining and lung function tests were used to evaluate the pathological and physical states in each group. Immunofluorescence was used to assess the impairment of TJs in each group. ELISA and RT-PCR were used to examine the mRNA or protein expression of CCL3 or miR-4456 in each group.Results: The in vivo and in vitro results showed that CCL3 expression was increased in COPD compared with healthy controls. CCL3 caused significant injury to TJs through its C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CCR5), while miR-4456 could suppress the effect of CCL3 on TJs by binding to the 3′-UTR of CCL3.Conclusion: miR-4456/CCL3/CCR5 pathway may be a potential target pathway for the treatment of COPD.

Breast cancer patients show significant heterogeneity in overall survival. Current assessment models are insufficient to accurately predict patient prognosis, and models for predicting treatment response are lacking. We evaluated the relationship between various immune cells and breast cancer and confirmed the association between immune infiltration and breast cancer progression. Different bioinformatics and statistical approaches were combined to construct a robust immune infiltration-related gene signature for predicting patient prognosis and responses to immunotherapy and chemotherapy. Our research found that a higher immune infiltration-related risk score (IRS) indicates that the patient has a worse prognosis and is not very sensitive to immunotherapy. In addition, a new nomogram was constructed based on the gene signature and clinicopathological features to improve the risk stratification and quantify the risk assessment of individual patients. Our study might contribute to the optimization of the risk stratification for survival and the personalized management of breast cancer.

Plastid genomes are useful markers in resolving plant phylogenetic relationships for various taxonomic groups. Here, we sequenced and de novo assembled the complete plastid genome sequence of the fern Asplenium tenerum Forst. (Aspleniaceae, Polypodiales) using the genome skimming data. The newly generated plastid genome is conserved in structure and gene content compared with that of closely related species. Plastid phylogenetic analysis of Polypodiales ferns recovered a robust phylogeny, supporting the close relationship of A. tenerum with Asplenium prolongatum.

Background: Widespread exposure to parabens has been a concern, especially among pregnant women. Only one study reported that parabens are associated with glucose levels among pregnant women. However, studies on parabens exposure and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are lacking. Objectives: This study investigated whether exposure to parabens in early pregnancy is related to GDM. Methods: We conducted a prospective study of 1087 pregnant women from a single tertiary medical center between 2014 and 2015 in Wuhan, China. Parabens [methyl paraben (MeP), ethylparaben (EtP), propylparaben (PrP), butylparaben (BuP), and benzylparaben (BzP)] concentrations were measured in spot urine samples collected between 8 and 16 gestational weeks. GDM was diagnosed according to the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups Consensus Panel (IADPSG) recommendations. We used the Poisson regression with a robust error variance with generalized estimating equations (GEE) estimation analyses to evaluate associations between parabens exposure and GDM risk. Results: A total of 103 (9.5%) women were diagnosed with GDM. Background: Benzophenones (BPs), parabens, and triclosan (TCS) are widely used in personal care products and may be neurotoxic to children, but limited studies have estimated the associations between exposure to these potential endocrine disrupting chemicals during pregnancy and child neurocognitive development. Objective: Our aim was to evaluate the relationships of prenatal exposure to BPs, parabens and TCS with child neurocognitive development at age 2. Methods: From 2014 to 2015, 478 mother-child pairs from a longitudinal prenatal cohort in China were included in present study. We quantified BPs, parabens and TCS in three spot urine samples during pregnancy (in the first, second, and third trimester). The Bayley Scales of Infant Development (BSID) test to children was performed at 2 years. Multivariate linear regression models and generalized estimating equations were used to examine changes in mental developmental index (MDI) and psychomotor development index (PDI) per 2-fold increase in averaged and trimester-specific maternal urinary phenols, respectively. Results: In the adjusted models, each 2-fold increase in average prenatal paraben concentration was associated with lower MDI scores among girls [−1.08 (95% CI: −2.10, −0.06) and − 1.51 (95% CI: −2.69, −0.32) for methyl paraben (Mep) and Σparabens, respectively], but the association was not statistically significant among boys [−0.24 (95% CI: −1.46, 0.99), Psex-int = 0.37 and 0.18 (95% CI: −1.28, 1.64), Psex-int = 0.10 for Mep and Σparabens, respectively]. Increasing urinary 4-hydroxybenzophenone (4-OH-BP) concentration was associated with lower PDI scores among boys [−2.96 (95% CI: −4.48, −1.45)], not girls [−0.07 (95% CI: −1.57, 1.43)] and the association was significantly different in boys and girls (Psex-int = 0.01). No significant associations were observed between the average prenatal TCS exposure and BSID results. In trimester-specific analyses, increasing parabens was associated with lower girls' MDI only in the second trimester, while increasing 4-OH-BP was associated with lower boys' PDI in each trimester. Conclusion: Our results suggest that prenatal exposure to BPs and parabens may be associated with impairment in child cognitive abilities at 2 years. Further human and animal studies are needed to verify our results and elucidate the biological mechanisms involved in these associations. Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) on synovitis in a mouse model of osteoarthritis and explore the possible mechanism. Methods We assessed the therapeutic effect of LIPUS on synovitis in a mouse model of destabilization of medial meniscus (DMM). The histopathology of the synovium of the knee joint was examined in 7 mice with DMM (model group), 7 normal mice (control group) and 7 mice with DMM treated with LIPUS. The proportion of iNOS- and CD206-positive cells in F4/80-positive macrophages in the synovium was detected. Cultured THP-1 macrophages were divided into control group, LIPUS group, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) group and LPS+LIPUS group, and Raw 264.7 cells were divided into LPS group and LPS+LIPUS group with corresponding treatments. The mRNA levels of polarization-related indexes (IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-10 and Arg1) were detected using real-time quantitative PCR after the treatments, and the protein levels of p-JNK and p-NF-κB p65 were detected using Western blotting. Confocal laser scanning microscopy was used to observe the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) in THP-1 cells after LPS or LPS+LIPUS treatment. Results In the mouse models of DMM, treatment with LIPUS significantly reduced the thicknesses of the synovium (P < 0.05), decreased the proportion of M1 macrophages and upregulated the proportion of M2 macrophages in the synovium (P < 0.05). In THP-1 and Raw 264.7 macrophages stimulated with LPS, LIPUS treatment significantly lowered IL-1β and TNF-α levels but increased IL-10 and Arg1 levels (P < 0.05). LIPUS also decreased the protein levels of p-JNK and p-NF-κB p65 in LPS-stimulated macrophages (P < 0.05) and suppressed LPS-induced nuclear translocation of NF-κB (P < 0.05). Conclusion LIPUS produces anti-inflammatory effects on the synovium in the mouse model of osteoarthritis possibly by modulating the polarization of synovial macrophages through the JNK and NF-κB signaling pathways.

The charge controller can greatly improve the hysteresis of the piezoceramic without the sensor. It is widely used in open-loop controlled nano-positioning systems. However, conventional charge controllers are not suitable for synchronous high linear operation of multiple piezoelectric actuators. This paper proposes a novel charge control scheme which can be used for synchronous high linear operation of multiple piezoelectric actuators. The control scheme combines similar control and traditional charge control. We verify the feasibility of this control scheme through experiments. The trajectory deviation between the two piezoelectric actuators reaches 0.79% of the travel range, while their respective trajectory errors do not exceed 1.2%. Because the controller in this paper has a simpler grounding configuration, it can also replace the traditional charge controllers for high linearity operation. The experimental results show that the charge controller achieves 0.65% positioning error of the piezoelectric actuator with grounding configuration. In addition, a T-type resistor network has also been introduced into the charge controller, which enables low-frequency linear operation of piezoelectric actuators with small capacitance.
