Spent fuel transport cask is a significant carrier of spent fuel transport. The main function of impact limiters installed at both ends of the container is to absorb energy and limit overload to ensure the integrity of the structure. The quasi-static compression process of aluminum foam was simulated on the platform of ANSYS Workbench. Foam aluminum was prepared by melt foaming method and quasi static compression test was carried out. The experimental results show that the deformation process of aluminum foam is basically the same as that of experiment, and the aluminum foam has good compressive and energy absorption properties. The yield stress (σys) and plateau stress (σpl) of aluminum foam with density of 0.64 g/cm3 can reach 8.26 MPa and 11.11 MPa respectively, and the energy absorption capacity (WEA) and unit energy absorption capacity (WSEA) can reach 6.31 x 103KJ/m3 and 9.87 KJ/Kg respectively, and the difference between the foam with density of 0.61g/cm3 and its various properties is very small. It can be concluded that the aluminum foam in a certain density range has roughly the same performance, and it also reflected the stability of aluminum foam's performance. Additionally, aluminum foam is an isotropic material, which can overcome directional limitation when used as shock absorber filler material for spent fuel transport cask.

Bi-directional corrugated honeycomb aluminum has two-way energy absorption performance intended to be used as impact limiter filling material for nuclear spent fuel transport casks. It is made of aluminum plate, corrugated plate and adhesive. The bonding parameters determine the bonding effect of Bi-directional corrugated honeycomb aluminum thus affect the energy absorption performance. This paper verifies the bonding parameters from three aspects (type of adhesive, surface roughness, and thickness of the adhesive layer). The results show that when an acrylic adhesive is used to perform the compression test, no matter which bonding parameters are used, all samples debond. When an epoxy resin is used, except for the sample with an adhesive layer thickness of 0.2 mm and the surface was polished with the grit number of 320 sandpaper, samples with other parameters showed debonding to varying degrees. In this paper, a porous material–bi-directional corrugated honeycomb aluminum (Bi-DCHA) was manufactured, and quasi-static compression experiments were performed in axial (Y/Z-direction) and radial (X-direction) directions. It was concluded that the mechanical properties in the Y/Z directions were better than those in X-direction. Further, to verify the effect of expanded polypropylene (EPP) on the properties of Bi-DCHA, three different density EPP were used to fill them, and the property of Y/Z-direction was performed. As a result, compared with Bi-DCHA unfilled with EPP, the performance of Bi-DCHA filled with EPP improved, and is better than the sum of EPP and Bi-DCHA unfilled with EPP. Observing the stress-strain curves of the four groups of samples, we can find that the initial peak stress (σP) of the Bi-DCHA filled with EPP is lower than Bi-DCHA; the stress in the plateau zone (σpl) increases with the increase of the EPP density. Observing the deformation process of the specimen, it was found that after filling the EPP, the deformation process of the specimen changed from global buckling/tilt mode to local compact plastic deformation mode. This paper put forward an innovative approach for fabricating reinforced aluminum foams through melt foaming method, where the metal grid structure (MGS) was used as a structural skeleton. Samples with a density ranging from 0.31 to 0.56 g/cm3 were fabricated and presented uniform bubbles. The major surface of MGS was covered with a layer of alloy matrix. Compression tests revealed that the compressive plateau phase was transformed into three small phases, where two slight peaks as well as three valleys were detected. Primordial odontogenic tumor (POT) is a rare mixed odontogenic tumor composed of primitive ectomesenchyme similar to the dental papilla. The outer surface consists of columnar/cuboidal odontogenic epithelium similar to the inner enamel epithelium, and there is no hard tissue formation. Until now, 27 cases have been reported in the English literature.
