Objective A prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted to compare 5 mg olanzapine plus standard triple antiemetic therapy for the prevention of nausea and vomiting induced by multiple-day cisplatin chemotherapy. Methods Patients who received a 3-day cisplatin-based chemotherapy (25 mg/m2/d) were given either 5 mg olanzapine plus triple therapy with aprepitant, tropisetron, and dexamethasone (quadruple group) or 5 mg olanzapine plus tropisetron and dexamethasone, omitting aprepitant (triplet group). The primary endpoint was the complete response (CR) in the overall phase (OP) (0–120 h) between quadruple group and triplet group. The secondary endpoints were the CR in the acute phase (AP) (0–24 h) and delayed phase (DP) (25–120 h) between two groups. The first time of vomiting was also compared by Kaplan–Meier curves. The impact of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) on the quality of life was assessed by the Functional Living Index-Emesis (FLIE). Aprepitant-related adverse effects (AEs) were also recorded. Results (1) The primary endpoint CR during OP was 76.0% (45/59) vs 67.0% (41/61) between the quadruple group and triplet group (P = 0.271). The secondary endpoint CR during the AP was significantly higher in the quadruple group than in the triplet group, which was 100.0% (59/59) vs 93.0% (57/61) (P = 0.045). The difference of CR during delayed phase between the groups was especially higher in the quadruple group compared to the triplet group (76.0% (45/59) vs 67.0% (41/61) (P = 0.271)). The rate of patients who achieved total protection in the overall phase was also higher in the quadruple group than the triplet group (28.8% (17/59) vs 23.0% (14/61) (P = 0.463)). During the OP, the incidence of no vomiting in the quadruple group and the triplet group was 93.2% (55/59) vs 80.3% (49/61) (P = 0.038), respectively. (2) Kaplan–Meier curves of time to first emesis were obviously longer in the quadruple group compared with the triplet group (P = 0.031). According to FLIE, no impact of CINV on daily life was defined as total score of questionnaire > 108; this study exhibited identical life quality between two groups. (3) The most common aprepitant- or olanzapine-related AEs included sedation, fatigue, and constipation. The occurrences between two groups were identical. Conclusion It may been recommended that 5 mg olanzapine plus tropisetron and dexamethasone, omitting aprepitant triplet regimen as an alternative therapy in prevention CINV induced by multiple-day cisplatin chemotherapy due to the excellent CINV control rate and safety.

Metal sulfides are recognized as potential candidates for the anode materials of lithium ion batteries (LIBs) because of their high theoretical capacity. However, the low reaction kinetics of metal sulfides leads to their poor cycle life and rate performance, which limits their practical application in the field of energy storage. In this work, we synthesized a self-assembled carbon-free vanadium sulfide (V3S4) nanosheet via a facile and efficient method. The unique mesoporous nanostructure of V3S4 can not only accelerate the migration of ions/electrons, but also alleviate the volume expansion during the lithium ion insertion/extraction process. When used as the anode material of LIBs, the carbon-free V3S4 electrode exhibits remarkable electrochemical performance with ultra-high charge capacity (1099.3 mAh g-1 at 0.1 A g-1), superior rate capability (668.8 mAh g-1 at 2 A g-1 and 588.8 mAh g-1 at 5 A g-1) and impressive cycling ability (369.6 mAh g-1 after 200 cycles at 10 A g -1), which is very competitive compared with those of most metal sulfides-based anode materials reported so far. The strategy in this work provides inspiration for the rational design of advanced nanostructured electrode materials for energy storage devices.

Objective This study is aimed to describe the clinical and genetic characteristics of a Chinese woman diagnosed with renal hypouricemia type 2 (RHUC2). We also summarize the advances in research on RHUC2 by reviewing related literature. Methods We measured clinical parameters of a 57-year-old female and performed whole-exome sequencing to screen for mutations. Human embryonic kidney 293 cells were transiently transfected with plasmids containing wild-type or mutants. Relative mRNA quantification was determined by real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Results This patient was diagnosed with diabetes and coronary heart disease. In addition, a decrease in 24-hour urinary chloride was observed. Two novel heterozygous variants of SLC2A9 (NM_020041.2): c.682-2_682-1insC and c.267C > G (p.Y89X) were identified. The mini-gene splicing assay revealed that c.682-2_682-1insC variant resulted in a frameshift mutation p. E228PfsX23. There was a statistically significant difference in mRNA expression level between the two mutants and the wild-type. Conclusions These findings strongly suggest that the two novel mutations are the causative agents of RHUC2. In particular, our findings provide further insights into the function of SLC2A9 and mechanisms of the complications.

Background Immune‐based combination therapies have revolutionized the first‐line treatment for advanced non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, for the efficacy and safety, the best treatment option is still uncertain. Methods We conducted a Bayesian network meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate first‐line immune‐based combination therapies for advanced NSCLC. Results Fourteen trials involving 8467 patients were included. For the programmed cell death‐ligand 1 (PD‐L1) expression non‐selective patients, there were no significant differences among all the treatment modes for overall survival (OS), but the ranking profiles indicated that Immunotherapy + Immunotherapy + Chemotherapy (IO + IO + Chemo) was most likely to be the best mode (probability = 68%). Immunotherapy + Immunotherapy + Anti‐angiogenic therapy + Chemotherapy (IO + Anti‐angio + Chemo) was significantly better than most other treatment modes for progression‐free survival (PFS) with better objective response rate (ORR) and more obvious grade ≥3 treatment‐related adverse events (TRAEs). In PD‐L1‐high cohort, IO + Anti‐angio + Chemo seemed to be the best mode for OS, PFS, and ORR according to the ranking profiles. In PD‐L1‐intermediate and PD‐L1‐negative cohort, IO + IO + Chemo was inclined to be ranked first for prolonging OS (probability = 78%; 37%) and IO + Anti‐angio + Chemo was most likely to provide best PFS (probability = 96%; 100%). Conclusion IO + IO + Chemo has great potential to improve the OS regardless of histology type, especially in PD‐L1‐intermediate and PD‐L1‐negative cohort. IO + Anti‐angio + Chemo shows great superiority in improving the short‐term survival accompanied by increasing grade ≥3 TRAEs., IO + IO + Chemo has great potential to be recommended to improve OS regardless of the histology type especially in PD‐L1‐intermediate and PD‐L1‐negative cohort. IO + Anti‐angio + Chemo shows great superiority in improving the short‐term survival accompanied by relatively increasing TRAEs. Our findings are of great significance for the first‐line treatment of advanced NSCLC and provide reference for clinicians and patients to achieve precise therapy.

Natural gas hydrate (NGH) exploitation is severely restricted by geotechnical problems. Deformation behaviors of the hydrate-bearing strata (HBS) control the occurrence and evolution of geotechnical problems during extracting natural gas from HBS. In this paper, a novel approach named Ladetes is introduced to evaluate the lateral deformation behaviors of the near-wellbore and fracture-filling regions of the HBS. The pressuremeter test and the flat dilatometer test are designed to simulate the inner boundaries of an NGH-producing well and an artificial stimulation fracture for the first time. The device can realize the in situ hydrate formation prior to the experiment and axial loading application throughout the experiment. Both the strain control mode and the stress control mode can be achieved to estimate the deformation characteristics of HBS under different downhole conditions. Prime experiments proved their adaptability and reliability. The Ladetes provides an effective and alternative way of obtaining geotechnical parameters for HBS.

Introduction: Checkpoint inhibitors pneumonia (CIP) is a common type of irAEs with poor clinical prognosis. Currently, there is a lack of effective biomarkers and predictive models to predict the occurrence of CIP.Materials and Methods: The study retrospectively included 327 patients who received immunotherapy for the first time as a training cohort and 167 patients as a validation cohort. Patients were assessed for the occurrence of CIP, and were divided into any grade CIP cohort, grade ≥2 CIP cohort, and grade ≥3 CIP cohort. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to determine the independent risk factors. Based on that, predictive nomograms were constructed and validated to predict the risk of CIP. Results: The overall incidence of CIP was 18.61%. Based on the results of multivariate analysis, we established nomogram models for predicting any grade CIP and grade ≥2 CIP, respectively. For the nomogram to predict any grade CIP, the C index of the model in the training cohort and validation cohort were 0.814 (95%CI=0.760-0.870) and 0.919 (95%CI=0.842-0.941), respectively. Similarly, as for the nomogram of grade 2 or higher CIP, the C index of the model in the training cohort and validation cohort were 0.879 (95%CI=0.81-0.92) and 0.936 (95%CI=0.812-0.982), respectively. Conclusions: After internal verification and external verification, the predictive power of nomogram models is satisfactory and they are expected to be a convenient, visual, and personalized clinical tool for assessing the risk of developing CIP in patients receiving ICIs treatment.

Highlights • Foliar application of 5.0–10.0 mg m−2 selenium was beneficial for the growth of Atractylodes macrocephala. • The selenium content of A. macrocephala rhizome was significantly positively correlated with the foliar Se level. • Foliar application of 2.5–20.0 mg m−2 selenium could decrease the pest damage to A. macrocephala leaves. • Specific Se level (e.g., 10.0 mg m-2) could change the bioavailability of organic matter, available nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium and alter the microbial community composition in A. macrocephala rhizosphere soil. • Bacterial diversity was positively correlated with A. macrocephala growth whereas fungal diversity was negatively correlated., Atractylodes macrocephala (A. macrocephala), a famous medicinal herb in China, is widely cultivated and consumed in China with various beneficial effects. Numerous studies have shown that selenium (Se) plays an important role in promoting plant growth, although Se has not been considered an essential element for higher plants. The objectives of this research were to determine the effects of foliar Se application (0, 2.5, 5.0, 10.0 and 20.0 mg m−2 Se in sodium selenite, sprayed monthly from May to August) on the growth and rhizospheric soil micro-ecological environment of A. macrocephala, and explore the possible mechanisms underlying plant response to foliar Se application through a field experiment. The results were: The foliar application of 5.0 mg m−2 Se significantly increased the survival rate of A. macrocephala compared to the control. The yield of A. macrocephala was increased when the Se level maintained belowed 10.0 mg m−2 but decreased when Se level reached 20.0 mg m−2. The Se content in the rhizome of A. macrocephala showed a significant positive correlation with the Se level, while the insect attack rate was significantly negatively correlated with the Se level. However, foliar Se application hardly affected the concentration of bioactive compound atractylenolide in the rhizome of A. macrocephala. Notably, the application of foliar Se changed the content of partial soil nutrients, microbial diversity and composition in the rhizosphere soil of A. macrocephala. Bacterial diversity was positively correlated with A. macrocephala growth whereas fungal diversity was negatively correlated, suggesting that microbial diversity in the rhizosphere soils is closely related to plant growth. Moreover, correlation analysis showed that available potassium, Burkholderia and Cupriavidus in rhizospheric soil might be critical factors for promoting the growth of A. macrocephala. Overall, the foliar application of Se at moderate concentration was beneficial for the growth of A. macrocephala, and 5.0-10.0 mg m−2 Se level was the optimum. Our findings revealed novel insights into the response of A. macrocephala to foliar Se application from plant growth, rhizospheric soil nutrient and microbial community composition .

Voice disorders are one of the incipient symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD). Recent studies have shown that approximately 90% of PD patients suffer from vocal disorders. Therefore, it is significant to extract pathological information on the voice signals to detect PD. In this paper, a feature, named energy direction features based on empirical mode decomposition (EDF-EMD), is proposed to show the different characteristics of voice signals between PD patients and healthy subjects. Firstly, the intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) were obtained through the decomposition of voice signals by EMD. Then, the EDF is obtained by calculating the directional derivatives of the energy spectrum of each IMFs. Finally, the performance of the proposed feature is verified on two different datasets: dataset-Sakar and dataset-CPPDD. The proposed approach shows the best average resulting accuracy of 96.54% on dataset-Sakar and 92.59% on dataset-CPPDD. The results demonstrate that the method proposed in this paper is promising in the field of PD detection.

Background Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play an important regulatory role in various cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to investigate the function of hsa_circ_0006942 (circ-ATP5H) in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated HCC and its underlying mechanism. Methods The levels of circ-ATP5H, miR-138-5p and tumor necrosis factor alpha-induced protein 3 (TNFAIP3) were determined using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) or Western blot assay. The copies of HBV DNA were examined using qRT-PCR. The levels of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) were detected via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Dual-luciferase reporter assay was used to analyze the interactions among circ-ATP5H, miR-138-5p and TNFAIP3. Results Circ-ATP5H and TNFAIP3 levels were increased, while miR-138-5p level was reduced in HBV-positive HCC tissues and cells. Knockdown of circ-ATP5H hindered HBV DNA replication and decreased HBsAg and HBeAg levels in HBV-infected cells. Circ-ATP5H silencing suppressed HBV replication and expression by regulating miR-138-5p. Moreover, miR-138-5p blocked HBV replication and expression via targeting TNFAIP3. Furthermore, circ-ATP5H up-regulated TNFAIP3 via absorbing miR-138-5p. Conclusion Circ-ATP5H promoted HBV replication and expression through modulating miR-138-5p/TNFAIP3 axis, suggesting a new biomarker for HBV-related HCC treatment.

Checkpoint inhibitors pneumonitis (CIP) is one of the most lethal adverse events in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). Currently, there is no recognized and effective predictive model to predict CIP in NSCLC.This study retrospectively analyzed 460 NSCLC patients who were first treated with ICIs. Patients were divided into three cohorts based on the occurrence of CIP: any grade CIP cohort, grade ≥ 2 CIP cohort and grade ≥ 3 CIP cohort.A dynamic hypertension nomogram was constructed with elements including hypertension, interstitial lung disease (ILD), emphysema at baseline, and higher baseline platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR). The C indices of the training cohort and the internal and external validation cohort in any grade CIP cohort were 0.872, 0.833 and 0.840, respectively. The constructed hypertension nomogram was applied to grade ≥ 2 cohort and grade ≥ 3 cohort, and their C indices were 0.844 and 0.866, respectively. Compared with the non-hypertension nomogram, the hypertension nomogram presented better predictive power.After validated by internal and external validation cohorts, the dynamic online hypertension has the potential to become a convenient, intuitive, and personalized clinical tool for assessing the risk of CIP in NSCLC patients.

BACKGROUND: Poor control of asthma results from many factors, partly due to inadequate knowledge towards asthma among patients. It is necessary to know patients’ knowledge level before education. However, there is no accepted instrument to evaluate knowledge of asthma in Chinese patients with asthma. The study aims to develop a Chinese version of Patient-completed Asthma Knowledge Questionnaire (PAKQ) to assess its reliability, validity, and responsiveness for testing its clinical application in Chinese adult patients with asthma. METHODS: After translation, back-translation, and cross-cultural adaptation of the PAKQ into Chinese version, a survey of patients with asthma (n=464) in China was conducted. Demographics and clinical data were collected in addition to questionnaires concerning cognition of asthma, education, history, and asthma control test score. The PAKQ was then completed. 14±4 days after the initial assessment, the participants completed the retested questionnaire and again completed the questionnaire immediately after education. The reliability and the construct validity were evaluated. The optimal cut-off points for predicting disease knowledge among asthma patients were determined using the Youden index method. RESULTS: The Chinese version of PAKQ showed high internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha =0.888) at baseline and an acceptable 2-week test-retest reliability (ICC =0.932, r=0.874). On the basis of large modification indices (>10), this four-factor questionnaire was found to fit the data satisfactorily (χ(2)/df =1.695, RMSEA =0.039, GFI =0.856, CFI =0.885, and SRMR =0.058). Safe and Just Space (SJS) is a framework for determining the range where the use of natural resources within the Earth’s carrying capacity can maintain human well-being. However, there has been no systematic monitoring and evaluation of their sustainability across time and space. Here we developed and applied a model and a sustainable development human safe operation space (SDHSOS) index to assess the sustainability capacity and development path of 149 countries from 2000 to 2018.The results demonstrate that 1) The overall sustainable development capacity of all countries is at the middle or lower level and that it has increased over time. 2) The sustainability of natural and socio-economic dimensions and their degree of change show obvious geographic differences and income differences. 3) The national development path divided by income is characterized by a decline in natural environment dimensions and an increase in socio-economic dimensions, which mainly reflects a traditional development path model that promotes social welfare at the expense of the natural environment. This study suggests that nations can accurately identify development characteristics, expand their comparative advantages is the key to improving sustainable development capabilities.

In order to solve the problem of incomplete feature extraction in lung computed tomography (CT) image and the gradient disappearance caused by network degradation with the deepening of convolution network, an automatic classification model of pulmonary nodule malignancy based on multi-scale feature fusion network (MSFFNet) is proposed. The multi-scale convolution operation is used to extract and fuse the features of different ranges of input CT images. The SE-ResNeXt module is introduced to make full use of the channel attention mechanism to effectively solve the problem of feature information loss. Finally, the classification results of benign and malignant pulmonary nodules are obtained. The accuracy of MSFFNet classification model achieves 97.2%, and the specificity and sensitivity achieve 96.14% and 98.62%, respectively, which are better than those of SE-ResNeXt.

Owing to increased operating time and Pb, As, and alkali metal poisoning of a catalyst, the activity of the catalyst is lowered. In the present study, we utilized the acetic acid and the traditional sulfuric acid pickling process for regeneration and then performed Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area, denitrification efficiency, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis of a fresh catalyst, a deactivated catalyst, and a regenerated catalyst for comparison purposes. The experimental results demonstrated that the removal ratios of Pb, As, Na, and K were 99.2, 98.8, 99.9, and 93.9%, respectively. Compared to the traditional sulfuric acid regeneration technology, the acetic acid regeneration technology eliminates the activated liquid immersion step; therefore, the steps are simpler and efficient for the regeneration of selective catalyst reduction catalysts deactivated by Pb, As, and alkali. The current study provides a new method for the regeneration and application of selective catalyst reduction (SCR) catalysts, which is particularly applicable for regenerating a large number of Pb, As, and alkali-metal poisoned catalysts.

Different catalysts were loaded onto the collecting plate of an electrostatic precipitator to achieve the simultaneous removal of multiple pollutants from coal-fired gas. The synergistic desulfurization and denitrification effect of the catalyst and the effect of corona discharge on the activity of the catalyst were studied. The La(6%)-Ce(8%)-V(7%)-Cu(8%)-ZSM-5 catalyst prepared by successive impregnation methods had the optimum simultaneous desulfurization and denitrification efficiency at a roasting temperature of 600 °C. The desulfurization and denitrification rates reached 97.09 and 83.30%, respectively. BET and SEM characterization results showed that the loading of active components and additives improved the pore structure of the molecular sieve, which contributed to the high stability of the catalyst's internal structure and large surface area, as well as better desulfurization and denitrification efficiency. Corona discharge can significantly improve the catalytic effect.
