Prostate artery embolization (PAE) is a promising minimally invasive therapy that improves lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is the gold standard therapy for LUTS/BPH.To evaluate the efficacy and safety of PAEA literature review was performed to identify all published articles on PAEEleven studies involving 1070 participants were included. Compared with the TURP group, the PAE group had a similar effect on the International Index of Erectile Function (IPSS) score, Peak urinary flow rate (Qmax), postvoid residual volume (PVR), Prostate volume (PV), prostatic specific antigen (PSA), The International Index of Erectile Function short form (IIEF-5) scores, and erectile dysfunction during 24 mo follow-up. Lower quality of life (QoL) score, lower rate of retrograde ejaculation and shorter hospital stay in the PAE group. There was no participant death in either group. A higher proportion of haematuria, urinary incontinence and urinary stricture was identified in the TURP group.PAE may be an appropriate option for elderly patients, patients who are not candidates for surgery, and patients who do not want to risk the potential adverse effects of TURP. Studies with large cases and long follow-up time are needed to validate results.

With the development and popularization of communication technology, intelligent analysis using big data front-end in various fields is also skillful. In the study of English literature and short sentence translation, we should realize a fast and intelligent translation approach. Based on the analysis and research of big data, a set of online learning algorithms for English translation learning algorithms is compiled, which will greatly improve the efficiency and accuracy of translation. On the premise of online processing of big data English information, this paper shortens the processing time without affecting the translation accuracy. The radial function algorithm for big data reduces the complexity of big data, improves the computational efficiency of dealing with problems, and realizes the generalization of translation performance. The effective application of big data in the optimization practice of English translation will provide an effective theoretical way for accurate translation and realize intelligent model algorithm. The experimental results are summarized as follows: (1) with the increase of the number of translated texts, the translation time will also increase and the difficulty will increase. (2) The approximation value in radial basis function is used to evaluate the translation effect, and its error in 100 texts will decrease with the increase of literature, and its approximation state is consistent with the real state. (3) Among various translation techniques, conventional literal translation is still the usual method, and its feedback effect is also the best, which is the basic method of thinking according to data. (4) The evaluation of accuracy in intelligent calculation methods is different, from 100% accuracy under heterogeneous functions to 50% accuracy under unified algorithms, which shows that optimization methods need to be updated and improved in time.

Magnetic materials with noncolinear spin configurations have engendered significant interest in condensed matter physics due to their intriguing physical properties. In this study, we direct our attention towards the magnetic properties and critical behavior of single-crystal SmMn$_{2}$Ge$_{2}$, an itinerant magnet with numerous temperature-dependent magnetic phase transitions. Notably, SmMn$_{2}$Ge$_{2}$ displays significant magnetic anisotropy with easy magnetization direction switching from the $ c $ axis to the $ab$ plane as temperature decreases. The critical behavior of the ferromagnetic transition occurring above room temperature is thoroughly examined. Reliable and self-consistent critical exponents, including $ \beta = 0.292(2) $, $ \gamma=0.924(8) $, and $ \delta = 4.164(6)$, along with the Curie temperature, $T_{\rm c}=347$ K, are extracted through various methods, which provide evidence for the coexistence of multiple magnetic interactions in SmMn$_{2}$Ge$_{2}$. Further analysis reveals that the magnetic interaction of SmMn$_{2}$Ge$_{2}$ is a long-range type with the interaction distance decaying as $ J(r)\sim r^{-4.35} $.

Although herbivory and allelopathy play important roles in plant invasions, their roles in mediating the effect of plant diversity on invasion resistance remain unknown. We performed a two-year field experiment in which we manipulated plant-species richness, herbivory and allelopathy, and then experimentally invaded the plots with the invasive Solidago canadensis. One year after the start of the experiment, there was no significant effect of species richness on biomass of the invader, as a negative indirect effect of species richness via increase light interception was compensated by a positive direct effect. However, in the second year, the relationship was negative, in line with the diversity-invasibility hypothesis. The negative relationship was strongest when herbivory and allelopathy were not manipulated. Therefore, we conclude that joint effects of herbivory and allelopathic interactions between the native plants and the invader play a major role in the observed species richness-invasibility relationship.

BACKGROUND: Gastric cancer is one of the most lethal cancers. Aberrant expression levels of genes are frequently associated with cell immortalization and the occurrence of tumors. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of tankyrase 1 (TANK1) in gastric adenocarcinoma and clarify the underlying mechanism. METHODS: The messenger RNA (mRNA) levels of TANK1, human telomerase reverse transcriptase (h-TERT), and telomeric repeat binding factor 1 (TRF1) in clinical specimens and SGC-7901 cells were measured via real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays were utilized to observe the cell apoptosis as well as Ki67 and h-TERT expression in tumor-bearing models. The effects of TANK1 antisense oligonucleotides (TANK1 ASODN) on viability and apoptosis of SGC 7901 cells were evaluated by cell counting kit-8 and flow cytometry analysis. RESULTS: We found that TANK1 and h-TERT were both increased in gastric adenocarcinoma, while TRF1 was decreased. Tumor-bearing models demonstrated that TANK1 ASODN appeared to be effective in inhibiting tumor growth and decreasing the expression of h-TERT. Additionally, TANK1 ASODN inhibited the viability and promoted apoptosis of SGC-7901 cells. Moreover, the mRNA levels of h-TERT and TRF1 were modulated by TANK1 ASODN. CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed that TANK1 ASODN inhibits the proliferation and induced the apoptosis of gastric adenocarcinoma cells via manipulating the expression levels of h-TERT and TRF1.

Biodiversity loss, exotic plant invasion and climatic change are three important global changes that can affect litter decomposition. These effects may be interactive and these global changes thus need to be considered simultaneously. Here, we assembled herbaceous plant communities with five species richness levels (1, 2, 4, 8 or 16) and subjected them to a drought treatment (no, moderate or intensive drought) that was factorially combined with an invasion treatment (presence or absence of the non-native Symphyotrichum subulatum). We collected litter of these plant communities and let it decompose for 9 months in the plant communities from which it originated. Drought decreased litter decomposition, while invasion by S. subulatum had little impact. Increasing species richness decreased litter decomposition except under intensive drought. A structural equation model showed that drought and species richness affected litter decomposition indirectly through changes in litter nitrogen concentration rather than by altering quantity and diversity of soil meso-fauna or soil physico-chemical properties. The slowed litter decomposition under high species diversity originated from a sampling effect, specifically from low litter nitrogen concentrations in the two dominant species. We conclude that effects on litter decomposition rates that are mediated by changing concentrations of the limiting nutrient in litter need to be considered when predicting effects of global changes such as plant diversity loss.

Reversible complexation mediated polymerization (RCMP) was developed as a new class of controlled radical polymerization (CRP) using organic catalysts. In particular, photo-RCMP is among the simplest, cheapest, and most robust photoinduced CRPs.

The SMC (structural maintenance of chromosomes) proteins are known to be involved in chromosome pairing or aggregation and play an important role in cell cycle and division. Different from SMC-ScpAB complex maintaining chromosome structure in most bacteria, the MukB-MukE-MukF complex is responsible for chromosome condensation in E. coli and some γ-proteobacter. Though different models were proposed to illustrate the mechanism of how the MukBEF complex worked, the assembly of the MukBEF complex is a key. The MukE dimer interacted with the middle region of one MukF molecule, and was clamped by the N- and C-terminal domain of the latter, and then was involved in the interaction with the head domain of MukB. To reveal the structural basis of MukE involved in the dynamic equilibrium of potential different MukBEF assemblies, we determined the MukE structure at 2.44 Å resolution. We found that the binding cavity for the α10, β4 and β5 of MukF (residues 296-327) in the MukE dimer has been occupied by the α9 and β7 strand of MukE. We proposed that the highly dynamic C-terminal region (173-225) was important for the MukE-F assembly and then involved in the MukBEF complex formation.

Objective: To compare the pharmacokinetic differences of the main components of Naoxintong capsule (NXTC) in normal and acute blood stasis rats. Materials and Methods: Rats were subcutaneously injected with adrenaline hydrochloride twice; during the two subcutaneous injections, the rats were placed in ice water for 4 min to reproduce the model rat of acute blood stasis. The normal and acute blood stasis rats were administrated a 5.04 g/kg dose of NXTC suspension. Then, blood samples were collected from the posterior retinal venous plexus at different time points. Plasma concentrations of four major bio-active components including caffeic acid, ferulic acid, formononetin, and tanshinone IIA in NXTC were measured using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry. Phoenix WinNonlin v6.2 software was used to calculate the pharmacokinetic parameters. Results: Compared with the normal rats, the acute blood stasis rats showed a significant decrease in Cmax of ferulic acid and formononetin, AUCall of caffeic acid and ferulic acid, and AUCINF_obs of ferulic acid. Conversely, an increase in the Vz_F_obs and MRTlast of ferulic acid and caffeic acid was observed. These findings demonstrate that the absorption of the four NXTC components was weakened in the acute blood stasis rats and that the elimination time was prolonged. Conclusions: The significant difference in some parameters of the four NXTC components between the normal and acute blood stasis rats might be caused by an increase in blood viscosity and the subsequent slowing down of blood flow in the acute blood stasis rats. The pharmacokinetic study conducted in pathological state can provide important information and scientific basis for further rational clinical application of NXTC.

The H∞ state feedback control problem of Takagi-Sugneo (T-S) fuzzy system with dynamic quantization and event-triggered mechanism is studied in this paper. Based on T-S fuzzy model, a new quantization scheme is proposed to solve the problem of synchronous quantiza-tion and event-triggered mechanism in continuous-time system. A new event-triggered communication scheme is proposed to improve the utilization rate of network resources. The sufficient conditions for the stability of H∞ state feedback control are given by means of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by a simulation of the spring-mass-damping system.

UPLC-TQ/MS was employed to determine the content of 8 main components(psoralen, isopsoralen, psoralenoside, isopsoralenoside, bavachin, psoralidin, corylin, and neobavaisoflavone) in tissues of normal and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced model rats 0.5, 1, 2, 6, and 12 h after intragastric administration of 3.6 g·kg~(-1) ethanol extract of Psoraleae Fructus. The distribution characteristics of the 8 main components in the different tissues(liver, kidney, spleen, heart, and lung) were studied and compared. The results showed that the distribution behaviors of the components varied among different tissues. At different time points, the components presented wide and uneven distribution in the body. Liver and kidney had higher content of the components, followed by spleen, heart, and lung. In both normal and LPS-induced model rats, the content of the 8 main components was higher in liver and kidney and varied significantly among different tissues. The content of psoralen in the tissues of LPS-induced model rat was significantly higher than that of the normal group 12 h after administration. The reason may be that the modeling slowed down the absorption and distribution of psoralen. The LPS-induced model rats had higher content of psoralenoside and isopsoralenoside in the liver tissue than the normal rats, which indicated that the modeling increased the absorption and distribution of psoralenoside and isopsoralenoside in the liver tissue. Further, it is hypothesized that psoralenoside and isopsoralenoside may be toxic substances of Psoraleae Fructus-induced liver injury.

Antidepressant medications are used by increasing numbers of pregnant women. The evidence on the relationship between antidepressant use during pregnancy and the risk for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is inconsistent. We perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the GDM risk associated with antidepressant exposure during pregnancy. We systematically searched the PubMed and EMBASE databases until December 2021. We sought observational studies assessing the association between gestational antidepressant use and GDM. Five observational studies were included in the analysis. Mothers exposed to antidepressants during pregnancy were at a significantly increased risk for GDM (relative risk [RR] 1.20, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.11–1.30; p < .001). However, after considering confounding by indication, we observed no significant effect of antidepressant use during pregnancy on the risk of GDM (RR 1.13, 95% CI 1–1.28; p = .054; I2 = 0%). Independent of clinical indication, subgroup analysis based on individual antidepressants suggested that the risk was increased by venlafaxine or amitriptyline use, but not by selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The significant association between antidepressant exposure during pregnancy and GDM may be overestimated due to confounding by indication. However, the evidence remains insufficient, particularly for specific drug classes.

Background and aim Chuanxiong Renshen decoction (CRD) is a traditional Chinese medicine compound used to treat Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the effects and active ingredients of CRD and its mechanism have not been clarified. We aimed to determine the neuroprotective effects of CRD in a triple-transgenic mouse model of AD (3 × Tg-AD) and investigate the possible active ingredients and their mechanisms. Methods Morris water maze (MWM) tests were used to determine the protective effect of CRD on learning and memory ability. Afterward, we used brain tissue staining, immunofluorescent staining and western blotting to detect the neuroprotective effects of CRD. Ultraperformance liquid-chromatography-quadrupole–time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q–TOF–MS) was applied to determine the ingredients of CRD, and the potential AD targets were obtained from DisGeNET and the GeneCards database. The protein‒protein interaction (PPI) network was built with the additional use of STRING 11.0. Metascape was used in the pathway enrichment analysis. Discovery Studio 2016 (DS) software was used to analyze the binding ability of CRD and AD-related genes. Finally, we verified the regulatory effect of CRD on the predicted core targets EGFR and CASP3 by western blotting. Results Our study indicated that CRD can significantly improve learning and memory, reduce the expression of Aβ and protect neurons. A total of 95 ingredients were identified in the CRD. Then, 25 ingredients were identified in serum, and 5 ingredients were identified in the brain tissue homogenate. PPI network analysis identified CASP3, EGFR, APP, CNR1, HIF1A, PTGS2 and MTOR as hub targets. KEGG and GO analyses revealed that the TNF signaling pathway and MAPK signaling pathway were enriched in multiple targets. The results of molecular docking proved that the binding of the ingredients with potential key targets was excellent. The western blotting results showed that CRD could significantly reduce the expression of CASP3 and EGFR in the hippocampus of 3 × Tg-AD mice. Combined with literature analysis, we assumed the neuroprotective effect of CRD on AD may occur through regulation of the MAPK signaling pathway. Conclusion CRD significantly alleviated injury in 3 × Tg-AD mice. The possible active ingredients are ferulic acid, rutin, ginsenoside Rg1 and panaxydol. The therapeutic effect of CRD on AD is achieved through the downregulation of CASP3 and EGFR. The neuroprotective effect of CRD on AD may occur through regulation of the MAPK signaling pathway.

Aim Psoralea corylifolia Linn. (BGZ) is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for the treatment of kidney-yang deficiency syndrome (Yangsyn) with good curative effect and security. However, BGZ was also reported to induce liver injury in recent years. According to TCM theory, taking BGZ may induce a series of adverse reactions in patients with kidney-yin deficiency syndrome (Yinsyn), which suggests that BGZ-induced liver damage may be related to its unreasonable clinical use. The study aimed to investigate the differential responses to BGZ in Yangsyn and Yinsyn rat models and identify the corresponding characteristic biomarkers. Materials and methods The corresponding animal models of Yangsyn and Yinsyn were induced by hydrocortisone and thyroxine + reserpine respectively. Body weight, organ index, serum biochemistry, and Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE) staining were used to evaluate the liver toxicity effect of BGZ on rats with Yangsyn and Yinsyn. Transcriptomics and metabonomics were used to screen the representative biomarkers (including metabolites and differentially expressed genes (DEGs)) changed by BGZ in Yangsyn and Yinsyn rats, respectively. Results The level changes of liver organ index, ALT, and AST suggested that BGZ has liver-protective and liver-damaging effects on Yangsyn and Yinsyn rats, respectively, and the results also were confirmed by the pathological changes of liver tissue. The results showed that 102 DEGs and 27 metabolites were significantly regulated related to BGZ’s protective effect on Yangsyn, which is mainly associated with the glycerophospholipid metabolism, arachidonic acid metabolism, pantothenate, and CoA biosynthesis pathways. While 28 DEGs and 31 metabolites, related to the pathway of pantothenate and CoA biosynthesis, were significantly regulated for the BGZ-induced liver injury in Yinsyn. Furthermore, 4 DEGs (Aldh1b1, Slc25a25, Pim3, Oaf) and 4 metabolites (phosphatidate, phosphatidylcholine, N-Acetylleucine, biliverdin) in the Yangsyn group and 1 DEGs (Lgals5) and 1 metabolite (5-amino-1-(5-phospho-D-ribosyl)imidazole-4-carboxylate) in Yinsyn group were significantly correlated to the ALT and AST levels of BGZ treated and untreated groups (ROC ≥ 0.9). Conclusions Yinsyn and Yangsyn are the predisposed syndrome for BGZ to exert liver damage and liver protection respectively, which are mainly related to the regulation of amino acid metabolism, lipid metabolism, energy metabolism, and metabolism of cofactors and vitamins. The results further suggest that attention should be paid to the selection of predisposed populations when using drugs related to the regulation of energy metabolism, and the Yinsyn/Yangsyn animal models based on the theory of TCM syndromes may be a feasible method for identifying the susceptible population to receive TCM.

Background: Cervical cancer is the most prevalent malignancy worldwide and propofol reportedly has anti-cancer efficiencies. Herein, we tried to address the potential anti-cancer effects of propofol in cervical carcinoma. Materials and Methods: The suppression effects of propofol on the proliferation and invasion of cervical cancer cells were analyzed by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation and Transwell invasion assay. The protein expressions of epithelial marker, E-cadherin and mesenchymal marker, N-cadherin were evaluated using western blot. The level of MIR155 host gene (MIR155HG) was determined by qRT-PCR assay. The anti-cancer impact of propofol on cervical cancer cells growth in vivo was determined by means of xenograft tumor model and lung metastasis model. Results: In vitro, propofol inhibited the growth and colony-formation of cervical carcinoma cells. Meanwhile, propofol treatment reduced the invasive trait of cervical carcinoma cells. In addition, MIR155HG was identified to be distinctly upregulated in cervical carcinoma when compared within normal. Propofol treatment decreased the expression of MIR155HG in cervical cancer cells. Consistently, the results from in vivo xenograft model indicated that propofol repressed cervical cancer cells growth and decreased the expression of MIR155HG in vivo. Furthermore, reintroduction of MIR155HG into cervical cancer cells counteracted the inhibitory potency of propofol on the growth and aggressive phenotypes in cervical carcinoma cells. Conclusions: Altogether, these results indicated that propofol restrained the growth and invasion of cervical cancer cells partly via regulating MIR155HG expression.

Developing a coreactant-free ratiometric electrochemiluminescence (ECL) strategy based on a single luminophore to achieve more accurate and sensitive microRNA (miRNA) detection is highly desired. Herein, utilizing zinc-metal organic frameworks (Zn-MOFs) as the single luminophore, a novel dual-potential ratiometric ECL biosensor was constructed for ultrasensitive detection of miRNA-133a. The as-prepared Zn-MOFs exhibited simultaneous cathode and anode ECL emission. Furthermore, the Zn-MOFs were confirmed to be a multichannel ECL sensing platform with excellent annihilation and coreactant ECL emission. The corresponding ECL behaviors were investigated in detail. Benefiting from the hybridization chain reaction (HCR) amplification technology, N,N-diethylethylenediamine (DEAEA) was modified on hairpin DNA, and the gained products loaded with quantities of DEAEA enhanced the anodic ECL intensity of Zn-MOFs. In the presence of miRNA-133a, the ECL intensity ratio of anode to cathode (Ia/Ic) was significantly increased, which realized the ultrasensitive ratiometric detection of miRNA-133a. In addition, without an exogenous coreactant, the biosensor revealed superb accuracy and stability. Under optimal conditions, the detection linearity of miRNA-133a was from 50 aM to 50 fM with a low detection limit of 35.8 aM (S/N = 3). This is the first work to use Zn-MOFs as a single emitter for reliable ratiometric ECL bioanalysis, which provides a new perspective for fabricating a ratiometric ECL biosensor platform.

Background/purpose: There is limited literature on the polishability of new launched nanofilled and nanohybrid. The aim of this study is to evaluate the polishability of nanofilled and nanohybrid composites by measuring surface roughness and gloss values and explore the surface qualities of composite before and after polishing in vitro. Materials and methods: One nanofilled resin composite, two nanohybrid resin composites and one microhybrid resin composite were selected. All specimens were light cured against celluloid matrix strips. Then surface roughness(Ra) and gloss(GU) values were tested as negative control. Specimens were roughened with a 600-grit silicon carbide paper for 30 s to serve as positive control and then polished with Sof-Lex polishing disk system. Mean Ra and GU values of each step were measured with a profilometer and a small-area glossmeter. The surface qualities were observed by scanning electron microscope. Results: Ra values of polished surfaces were significantly higher than negative control and lower than positive control(P 0.05).
