Background: The kidney-brain crosstalk has been involved in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) with the mechanism remaining unclear. The anti-aging factor Klotho was reported to attenuate both kidney injury and AD pathologies. Objective: To investigate whether plasma Klotho participated in kidney-brain crosstalk in AD. Methods: We enrolled 33 PiB-PET-positive AD patients and 33 amyloid-β (Aβ)-negative age- and sex-matched cognitively normal (CN) controls from the Chongqing Ageing & Dementia Study (CADS). The levels of plasma Klotho, Aβ, and tau in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: We found higher plasma Klotho and lower estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) levels in AD patients compared with CN. The eGFR was positively associated with Aβ42, Aβ40 levels in CSF and negatively associated with CSF T-tau levels. Plasma Klotho levels were both negatively correlated with CSF Aβ42 and eGFR. Mediation analysis showed that plasma Klotho mediated 24.96% of the association between eGFR and CSF Aβ42. Conclusion: Renal function impacts brain Aβ metabolism via the kidney-brain crosstalk, in which the plasma Klotho may be involved as a mediator. Targeting Klotho to regulate the kidney-brain crosstalk provides potential therapeutic approaches for AD.

Currently, the development of students' personality and the cultivation of innovative talents are regarded as an important task of education for each country, the personalized teaching has become the goal of the new curriculum reform in China. With the continuous development of cloud computing technology, network cloud platform education resources are being used more and more in the teaching process, the " personalized teaching of the cloud classroom" in primary schools has gradually become the highlight for the reform and research of the basic education in Nanjing. Since it was officially launched in 2010, Nanjing has 1380 high-quality courses in the cloud classroom, trained 775 backbone teachers, explored new teaching models, accumulated a wealth of teaching cases. At the same time, in the implementation process, it also faces many problems and challenges related to educational concept, technology and application. This study use the literature design and case study method to define the relevant conceptss in analyze the teaching. The result of this study shown that the use of cloud classroom teaching can provide teachers visual expression tools for the smooth implementation of teaching, reduce the teaching burden of teachers, and provide students with a teaching environment rich in pictures and texts, stimulate learning interest and improve learning efficiency.

In this paper, we give a new effective superpotential that makes clear Bethe/Gauge correspondence between 2d (and 3d) $\text{SO/Sp}$ gauge theories and open $\text{XXX}$ (and $\text{XXZ}$) spin chains with diagonal boundary conditions, and also works in the case of 2d (and 3d) $\text{BC}_{N}$-type gauge theories which is not previously discussed in the literature. This note is an extension of [DZ23] there the supersymmetric vacua of three-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ gauge theories with matter are shown to be in one-to-one correspondence with the eigenstate of $\text{XXZ}$ integrable spin chain Hamiltonians with open boundary conditions. We consider the $A_{2}$ quiver gauge theory, which is the simplest non-trivial quiver gauge theory, and $sl_{3}$ open $\text{XXZ}$ spin chain with diagonal boundary condition. Circadian rhythm disorders can accelerate atherosclerosis. This study aimed to determine the role of circadian disordered macrophages in atherosclerotic development. Mice were divided into NC group (normal circadian rhythm), L24 group (constant light), D12L12 group (weekly shift light/dark cycle), and D24 group (constant dark). Atherosclerotic progression was significantly accelerated in L24, D12L12, and D24 groups. Peritoneal macrophages from circadian disruption groups exhibited enhanced cytokine secretion and foam cell formation. Migration and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) were increased under the conditioned medium of circadian disordered macrophages. The blockade of CD36 markedly inhibited foam cell formation. Compared with blocking CD36 or TLR4 alone, the co-inhibition of CD36 and TLR4 in macrophages further reduced cytokine secretion and more effectively inhibited VSMC migration and proliferation. In conclusion, the activation of CD36 and TLR4 in circadian disordered macrophages promotes foam cell formation and cytokine secretion and enhances VSMC migration and proliferation. Circadian rhythm disorders promote lipid uptake and cytokine secretion of macrophages by regulating CD36 and TLR4, and enhance VSMC migration and proliferation through the paracrine effect of macrophages.

This paper presents the fabrication of an alkaline-responsive drug carrier, chitosan@giant liposome (CS-GL), by using an ultrasound-integrated microfluidic approach. On the microfluidic chip, water/oil/water droplets are first prepared and then move through an area of ultrasonic radiation to improve the regional saturation of organic solvent and accelerate its removal. At the same time, phospholipid molecules in the oil phase of the droplets are efficiently self-assembled into giant liposomes (GLs). Subsequently, microfluidic channels combined with an up-down separated structure can help in the fabrication and purification of the GLs. Due to the electrostatic interaction between the amino group of chitosan and the phosphate group of phospholipids, the GLs and chitosan are assembled into CS-GLs. The change of ζ potential after this operation indicates that chitosan is coated on the surface of GLs. The formed CS-GLs are monodispersed with a 54.1 ± 0.7 μm diameter and high drug encapsulation efficiency (∼96%), and the structural integrity can be kept without leakage of contents for more than a week in an acid medium (pH = 1.2). When this structure is placed in an aqueous solution of pH = 7.8, chitosan precipitates gradually and detaches from the GL, causing its rupture. The drug encapsulated in a single CS-GL can be rapidly released within 4 s, and 99.6% of the CS-GL carriers can complete the release within 10 min.

There has been great progress in cancer treatment through traditional approaches, even though some of them are still trapped in relative complications such as certain side effects and prospective chances of full recovery. As a conventional method, the immunotherapy approach is regarded as an effective approach to cure cancer. It is mainly promoted by immune checkpoint blocking and adoptive cell therapy, which can utilize the human immune system to attack tumor cells and make them necrose completely or stop proliferating cancer cells. Currently however, immunotherapy shows limited success due to the limitation of real applicable cases of targeted tumor environments and immune systems. Considering the urgent need to construct suitable strategies towards cancer therapy, metallic materials can be used as delivery systems for immunotherapeutic agents in the human body. Metallic materials exhibit a high degree of specificity, effectiveness, diagnostic ability, imaging ability and therapeutic effects with different biomolecules or polymers, which is an effective option for cancer treatment. In addition, these modified metallic materials contain immune-modulators, which can activate immune cells to regulate tumor microenvironments and enhance anti-cancer immunity. Additionally, they can be used as adjuvants with immunomodulatory activities, or as carriers for molecular transport to specific targets, which results in the loading of specific ligands to facilitate specific uptake. Here, we provide an overview of the different types of metallic materials used as efficient composites in cancer immunotherapy. We elaborate on the advancements using metallic materials with functional agents as effective composites in synergistic cancer treatment. Some nonmetallic functional composites also appear as a common phenomenon. Ascribed to the design of the composites themselves, the materials' surface structural characteristics are introduced as the drug-loading substrate. The physical and chemical properties of the functional materials emphasize that further research is required to fully characterize their mechanism, showing appropriate relevance for material toxicology and biomedical applications.

As essential controlling parameters, the local surface area (size distribution) and polarity property of the surface molecules can determine the catalytic activity and biocompatibility directly. Here, ultrasmall palladium-based alloys (FePd, FePdCo, and FePdCu NCs) were developed to serve as artificial degradation catalysts with superhydrophilicity (SPh), biocompatibility, and reusability, which were referred to as "biocatalysts". As synthesized in aqueous solvent with negative surface potential while dispersing in water medium, because of the surface biological molecules effect. The obtained alloys illustrated a size distribution of about 3.5 nm. Additionally, owing to SPh property, these alloys could be stored in water up to 30 days without any precipitation and retained their monodisperse morphology in colloidal solutions. The cytotoxicity assessment of the alloys by exposing to L-929 cells over 3 days indicated that it maintained cell viability of80% even up to 390 μg mL

Among current biological researches, there have a plenty of works related cancer therapy issues by using functional or pure-phased composites in non-invasive strategies. Especially in fabricating anticancer candidates, functional composites are divided into different sorts with different characteristics. Additionally, nanotechnology provides various approaches in utilizing composites’ functionality for cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. Compared with previous Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), Photo-Thermal Therapy (PTT), chemotherapy and radiotherapy, ultrasound is used to activate sonosensitizer to produce cytotoxic Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) toward target cancer cells. In recent years, the form of Sonodynamic Therapy (SDT) has been making much effort to develop highly efficient metal based Nanomaterials (NMs) as sonosensitizers, which can efficiently generate ROS and has the advantages of deeper tissue penetration. However, the traditional sonosensitizers, such as porphyrins, hypericin, and curcumins suffer from complex synthesis, poor water solubility, and low tumor targeting efficacy. For contrasting this limitation, the metal based inorganic NMs show biocompatibility, controllable physicochemical properties, and ease of achieving multifunctional properties, which greatly expanded their application in SDT. In this review, we systematically summarize the metal based inorganic NMs as carrier of molecular sonosensitizers, and produce ROS under ultrasound. Moreover, the prospects of advanced metal based further materials application are also discussed.
