110. Sentiment analysis method for e-commerce review on weak-label data and deep learning model

Abstract

For inaccurate weak-label data of e-commerce reviews, the traditional manual labelling method is time-consuming, and it is necessary to solve the problem of polysemy and imbalance in Chinese reviews to improve the performance of sentiment analysis model. This paper collects agricultural product reviews on Jingdong platform. Firstly, the improved SO-PMI method is used to construct a domain sentiment dictionary, by combining the review sentiment tendency calculated by the dictionary with the weak-label data of user ratings, an unsupervised generation of high-quality training sets is realised. Secondly, two basic learners, Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory (BiLSTM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), are combined in the sentiment analysis model, and the character, word, part-of-speech vector features are extracted in parallel. In addition, an attention mechanism is embedded in the channel, and using Focal Loss during model training process. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the method proposed in this paper reaches 97.34%, which is 4.64% higher than that of directly using weak-label data for training. Compared with single-channel CNN and BiLSTM model, the accuracy is improved by 1.55% and 0.99% respectively. Therefore, this method improves the accuracy of sentiment analysis of e-commerce reviews.

111. Neural Network-Based Anti-Disturbance Control of Nonhomogeneous Markov Switching Systems

Abstract

This brief studies delves into the exploration of anti-disturbance control for nonhomogeneous Markov switching systems subject to asynchronous phenomenon and time-varying transition probabilities. In addition to the conventional Markov process, a novel nonhomogeneous Markov process is addressed, in which the time-varying transition probabilities are influenced by an upper-level nonhomogeneous Markov process. In response to the challenge of handling unobservable disturbance information, an innovative adaptive neural network-based anti-interference control strategy with dynamic weight adjustments is devised. To accurately capture the asynchronous nature of interactions between the controller and the system, an asynchronous disturbance observer using a mode monitoring scheme is proposed. Building on the foundation of Lyapunov stability theory, sufficient conditions are carried out to ensure the bounded probability of the closed-loop system. Finally, the practicality of attained theoretical findings is verified via a practical example.

Abstract

BackgroundAmbient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) adversely affects human health and has been linked to a variety of skin disorders. However, little is known about the effects of PM2.5 on psoriasis.MethodsThe Beijing Medical Claim Data for Employees database recorded 500,266 outpatient visits for psoriasis during 2010–2017. A generalized additive quasi-Poisson model was used to examine the relationship between daily PM2.5 concentrations and outpatient visits for psoriasis with stratification by sex, age, and season.ResultsShort-term exposure to PM2.5 was associated with outpatient visits for psoriasis-related health concerns. A same-day increase of 10 μg/m3 in PM2.5 concentrations was associated with a 0.29% (95% confidence interval: 0.26–0.32%) increase in daily outpatient visits for psoriasis. Female and older patients appeared to be more sensitive to the effects of PM2.5 (P < 0.05).ConclusionsShort-term elevations in PM2.5 concentrations may be associated with exacerbations in psoriasis. Further work is warranted to confirm the findings and elucidate the underlying biological mechanisms.

136. Association of Metformin Use with Iron Deficiency Anemia in Urban Chinese Patients with Type 2 Diabetes.

Abstract

Background: Previous evidence yielded contradictory findings on the relationship between metformin and anemia. This study aims to assess whether metformin use is associated with iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) risk in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) in Beijing, China. Methods: Overall, 60,327 newly diagnosed T2D patients were included based on a historical cohort study design. The information pertaining to these patients was gathered from the Beijing Medical Claim Data for Employees Database. These patients were then categorized into the metformin and non-metformin groups and matched on a 1:1 propensity score based on their initial antidiabetic prescription. The Cox proportional hazards models were utilized to calculate the incidences and the hazard ratios (HRs). Results: The study enrolled 27,960 patients with type 2 diabetes, with 13,980 patients in each of the initial glucose-lowering prescription groups: metformin and non-metformin. During a median follow-up period of 4.84 years, 4832 patients developed IDA. The incidence of IDA was significantly lower in the metformin group (26.08/1000 person-years) than in the non-metformin group (43.20/1000 person-years). Among the three groups divided by the proportion of days covered by metformin, we found a negative correlation between the proportion of days covered by metformin and the risk of IDA. The risk of IDA in patients with a proportion of days covered by metformin of <20%, 20–79%, and ≥80% was 0.43 (0.38, 0.48), 0.37 (0.34, 0.42), and 0.91 (0.85, 0.98), respectively, compared to the non-metformin group. We also performed subgroup analyses and sensitivity analyses: the incidence of IDA in the metformin group was lower than that in the non-metformin group in all subgroups, and the protective effect was more significant in subgroups of patients aged ≥65, with Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) ≥2, and with gastric acid inhibitor use. Conclusions: In Chinese patients with T2DM, metformin treatment was associated with a decreased risk of IDA admission, and this risk responded positively to the proportion of days covered by metformin. These findings suggest that metformin may have a pleiotropic effect on IDA in patients with type 2 diabetes. 137. Statistical optimization of sodium hydroxide pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis of corn stover powder for enhancing sugar production using response surface methodology.

Abstract

To enhance fermentable sugar production, sodium hydroxide pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis of corn stover powder (CSP) were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM), respectively. It was found that pretreatment parameters including temperature, time, and sodium hydroxide concentration and hydrolysis parameters including reaction time, biomass loading, and enzyme loading had significant effects on sugar yields. After optimization, CSP with particle size 0.3 mm should be pretreated using 2.05% (w/v) sodium hydroxide solution at solid loading of 20.0% (w/v), 89.3 °C for 38.0 min. Maximal yields of glucose (451.58 mg/gds) and xylose (247.63 mg/gds) could be obtained after hydrolysis at 50 °C for 43.4 h with 7.9% (w/v) of biomass loading, 7.6 FPU/gds of enzyme loading, and 0.2% (w/v) of Tween-80, respectively. The optimized pretreatment conditions resulted in 92.5% of cellulose recovery, 54.6% of hemicellulose recovery, and 78.8% of lignin removal, respectively. Furthermore, the corresponding cellulose conversion and hemicellulose conversion during hydrolysis were 97.1% and 93.6%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Nielsen et al. (1) argue that Van Doesum et al. (2) need to consider three points for their interpretation of a positive association between individual-level social mindfulness (SoMi) and environmental performance (EPI) at the country level (3). The association is weaker when 1) it is controlled for GDP and 2) when the data of three countries are removed; also, 3) the data do not address the association between SoMi and individual-level environmental concern. We discuss these points in turn.

Abstract

Emotions are linked to wide sets of action tendencies, and it can be difficult to predict which specific action tendency will be motivated or indulged in response to individual experiences of emotion. Building on a functional perspective of emotion, we investigate whether anger and shame connect to different behavioral intentions in dignity, face, and honor cultures. Using simple animations that showed perpetrators taking resources from victims, we conducted two studies across eleven countries investigating the extent to which participants expected victims to feel anger and shame, how they thought victims should respond to such violations, and how expectations of emotions were affected by enacted behavior. Across cultures, anger was associated with desires to reclaim resources or alert others to the violation. In face and honor cultures, but not dignity cultures, shame was associated with the desire for aggressive retaliation. However, we found that when victims indulged motivationally-relevant behavior, expected anger and shame were reduced, and satisfaction increased, in similar ways across cultures. Results suggest similarities and differences in expectations of how emotions functionally elicit behavioral responses across cultures.

150. Did Cooperation Among Strangers Decline in the United States? A Cross-Temporal Meta-Analysis of Social Dilemmas (1956–2017)

Abstract

Cooperation among strangers has been hypothesized to have declined in theUnited States over the past several decades, an alarming trend that has potential far-reaching societal consequences. To date, most research that supports a decline in cooperation has relied on self-report measures or archival data. Here, we utilize the history of experimental research on cooperation in situations involving conflicting interests (i.e., social dilemmas). We meta-analyzed 511 studies conducted between 1956 and 2017 with 660 unique samples and effect sizes involving 63,342 participants to test whether the average level of cooperation observed in these studies had declined over time. We found no evidence for a decline in cooperation over the 61-year period. Instead, we found a slight increase in cooperation over time. In addition, some societal indicators (e.g., income inequality, societal wealth, urbanization level, and percentage of people living alone) measured 10 to 5 years prior to measures of cooperation were found to be positively associated with cooperation, suggesting that they may be potential societal underpinnings of increases in cooperation. These findings challenge the idea that social capital and civic cooperation among strangers have declined in the United States over time, and we offer directions for future research to understand causes of an increase in cooperation.
