To study the anti-endotoxic effect ofo-aminobenzoic acid (OABA) isolated from Banlangen(BLG).OABA was extracted and isolated from BLG and diluted into 0.5% solution. The concentration of endotoxin (ET) pretreated with OABA was quantitatively detected using Limulus test. The inhibition of ET-induced fever by OABA was measured in rabbits. The rates of lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-induced death in mice pretreated with or without OABA were then compared. The influence of OABA on the release of TNF-α and NO from macrophages induced by LPS was examined in mice.After pretreatment with OABA, 84.4% of ET was destroyed. The ET-induced fever in rabbits decreased significantly and the rate of LPS-induced death in mice dropped from 70% to 20%. The release of TNF-α and NO induced by LPS in mice was inhibited dose-dependently when the concentration of OABA was between 0.125% and 0.5%.OABA isolated from BLG has an anti-endotoxic effect. Novel MgCl2-supported Ziegler-Natta (Z-N) catalysts prepared using a new one-pot ball milling method can effectively control the amounts of Ti-loading in the catalysts. Complex GPC data on polypropylene synthesized by these novel catalysts were analyzed using the method of fitting the molecular weight distribution (MWD) curves with a multiple Flory-Schulz function. It was found that multiple active centers exist in these novel catalysts. Detailed study of the effects of the Ti-loadings in the catalysts on the distribution of the active centers showed that the Ti-loadings in the novel MgCl2-supported Z-N catalysts might affect the proportion of each type of active centers; and might be the main factor responsible for the effect of the Ti-loadings on the microstructure, the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution width of the resultant polymer, the catalytic activity and polymerization kinetics. A polycrystalline sample Nd0.5Sr0.3Ca0.2MnO3 is prepared by the conventional solid state reaction method. The structure and magnetic properties are investigated with x-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID), and electron spin resonance (ESR). The sample is in single phase with the space group Pbnm symmetry. With the decrease of temperature, Nd0.5Sr0.3Ca0.2MnO3 undergoes three magnetic transitions: ferromagnetic transition at TC ≈ 210 K, charge-ordering at TCO ≈ 175 K, and antiferromagnetic transition at TN = 155 K. In addition, the activation energy Ea ≈ 52.78 meV can be extracted by curve fitting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
