Abstract

In order to establish an equivalent model with a graphical coating, the numerical simulation equivalent calculation of material properties in the Bracket Pattern region is carried out, which includes parametric modeling and mechanical optimization. The results indicate that single body optimization with reaction force of a rigid body as the objective function is the best solution, and the prediction results of the deformation, the stress of the adhesive layer and the shape of the water droplets are better, also minimal time consumption for single body optimization. The optimization of the single body with the force of the graphical film layer as the objective function will reduce the accuracy of the simulation results. The full‐ module optimization method, which takes the deformation of the film and the force of the glue as the objective function, takes the longest time. According to the constitutive capture method of this pattern region, the universality of the simulation model under different pattern designs is studied, and the results show that the difference before and after equivalence is small. Abstract

Magnoliaceae, an assemblage of early diverged angiosperms, comprises two subfamilies, speciose Magnolioideae with approximately 300 species in varying numbers of genera and monogeneric Liriodendroideae with two species in Liriodendron L. This family occupies a pivotal phylogenetic position with important insights into the diversification of early angiosperms, and shows intercontinentally disjunct distribution patterns between eastern Asia and the Americas. Widespread morphological homogeneity and slow substitution rates in Magnolia L. s.l. resulted in poorly supported phylogenetic relationships based on morphology or molecular evidence, which hampers our understanding of the genus' temporal and spacial evolution. Here, based on the newly generated genome skimming data for 48 Magnolia s.l. species, we produced robust Magnolia phylogenies using genome‐wide markers from both plastid genomes and single nucleotide polymorphism data. Contrasting the plastid and nuclear phylogenies revealed extensive cytonuclear conflicts in both shallow and deep relationships. ABBA‐BABA and PhyloNet analyses suggested hybridization occurred within sect. Yulania, and sect. Magnolia, which is in concordance with the ploidy level of the species in these two sections. Divergence time estimates and biogeographic reconstruction indicated that the timing of the three tropical Magnolia disjunctions coincided with the mid‐Eocene cooling climate and/or late Eocene climate deterioration, and two temperate disjunctions occurred much later, possibly during the warm periods of the Miocene, hence supporting the boreotropical flora concept of Magnolia s.l. Abstract

Lipogenesis is under the concerted action of ChREBP, SREBP-1c and other transcription factors in response to glucose and insulin. The isolated porcine preadipocytes were differentiated into mature adipocytes to investigate the roles and interrelation of these transcription factors in the context of glucose- and insulin-induced lipogenesis in pigs. In ChREBP-silenced adipocytes, glucose-induced lipogenesis decreased by ~70%, however insulin-induced lipogenesis was unaffected. Moreover, insulin had no effect on ChREBP expression of unperturbed adipocytes irrespective of glucose concentration, suggesting ChREBP mediate glucose-induced lipogenesis. Insulin stimulated SREBP-1c expression and when SREBP-1c activation was blocked, and the insulin-induced lipogenesis decreased by ~55%, suggesting SREBP-1c is a key transcription factor mediating insulin-induced lipogenesis. LXRα activation promoted lipogenesis and lipogenic genes expression. In ChREBP-silenced or SREBP-1c activation blocked adipocytes, LXRα activation facilitated lipogenesis and SREBP-1c expression, but had no effect on ChREBP expression. Therefore, LXRα might mediate lipogenesis via SREBP-1c rather than ChREBP. When ChREBP expression was silenced and SREBP-1c activation blocked simultaneously, glucose and insulin were still able to stimulated lipogenesis and lipogenic genes expression, and LXRα activation enhanced these effects, suggesting LXRα mediated directly glucose- and insulin-induced lipogenesis. In summary, glucose and insulin stimulated lipogenesis through both dissimilar and identical regulation pathway in porcine adipocytes.

120. Outcome of glycemic control in critically ill patients receiving enteral formulas.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Stress hyperglycemia is a common condition in critically ill patients. Inappropriate nutritional supplementation may worsen blood glucose control in these patients. The present study aimed to investigate the outcome of blood glucose control status when using various enteral formulas.Methods and Study Design: This retrospective study was conducted at the intensive care unit of a tertiary medical center in central Taiwan. Patients meeting the following inclusion criteria were enrolled in the study: age ≥20 years, respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation, and two consecutive blood glucose concentration measurements of ≥180 mg/dL. Demographic data, blood glucose samples, and hospital mortality were collected for analysis.Results: A total of 4,604 blood glucose samples from 48 patients were analyzed. Results demonstrated no significant difference in mortality rate or blood glucose control between patients fed semi-elemental formulas and those fed polymer formulas. Serum HbA1C of <7.5% was a risk factor for hospital mortality (OR: 0.18, 95% CI: 0.04-0.89). Enteral formulas containing less carbohydrate were associated with better blood glucose control.Conclusions: No significant difference in the outcome of blood glucose control was observed between patients fed semi-elemental formula and those fed polymer formula. To achieve better blood glucose control in critically ill patients, formulas with lower carbohydrate content should be considered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the BACS in a Chinese-speaking population.  Methods: All participants in this study (66 patients with schizophrenia [mean age: 41.2 years, 57.6% male] and 66 age- and sex-matched healthy controls) were from Taiwan and assessed using the BACS and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Performance-Based Skills Assessment, Brief Version (UPSA-B). Thirty-eight of the 66 patients with schizophrenia received a reassessment using the BACS. Results: The BACS had good test–retest reliability, and all BACS subtests had statistically insignificant practice effects. Principal components analysis demonstrated that a one-factor solution best fits our dataset (60.9% of the variance). In both patients and controls, the BACS composite scores were positively correlated with all BACS subscales (P<0.001) and UPSA-B scales (P<0.001). Numerous reports have demonstrated that luteolin has anticancer effects on many kinds of tumors. This study investigated the effects of luteolin on prostate cancer (PCa), assessing the PC3 and LNCaP cells. The cell viability and apoptosis were assessed by performing Cell Counting Kit-8 assay and Annexin V–fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide double staining. Luteolin was found to inhibit androgen-sensitive and androgen-independent PCa cell lines’ growth and induced apoptosis. To uncover the exact mechanisms and molecular targets, microRNA (miR) array analysis was performed. miR-301 was found to be markedly downregulated. Then, the expression of miR-301 was retrospectively analyzed in the primary PCa tissues by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and in situ hybridization methods. According to the quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction results of miR-301, the 54 PCa patients were divided into two groups: high and low miR-301 groups. The division indicator is a relative expression ≥5. Compared to the low-expression group, high miR-301 expression was associated with a significantly shorter overall survival (P=0.029). The proapoptotic gene, DEDD2, was predicted to be the direct target of miR-301. It was clarified in accordance with bioinformatics and luciferase activity analyses.
