Abstract

A wheel-shaped Zr-substituted phosphotungstate, [N(CH3)4]2K16Na10.5H10.5[{Zr(C2O4)2}3(PO4)(P6W39O150)]·45H2O (1), was synthesised from a hexavacant Dawson-type precursor [H2P2W12O48]12−via a conventional solution method. Compound 1 features a wheel-shaped polyanion comprising an annular [P6W39O150]36− cluster supported by a turbine-shaped [{Zr(C2O4)2}3(PO4)]3− fragment, with three oxalate groups covalently anchored to W atoms. Compound 1 was systematically characterized by IR, UV, PXRD, TGA and 31P NMR spectra. The 31P NMR spectra over time were monitored to verify the stability of 1 in aqueous solution. This compound possesses remarkable proton conductive behavior with a high conductivity of 1.18 × 10−2 S cm−1 at 368 K. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

102. Catalytic behavior of Mn during molten salt oxidation of cationic exchange resins in Li2CO3–Na2CO3–K2CO3 melt.

Abstract

Cationic exchange resins are used in nuclear power circuits to remove the nuclide ions to maintain the safe and efficient operation of nuclear power plants. Meanwhile, the production of spent resins is expanding significantly due to the rapid technological advancements in the nuclear industry, causing the study of resin treatment to be of great significance. This study reveals the catalytic behavior of Mn from cation exchange resins during molten salt oxidation. Mn has many isotopic ions and a catalytic effect on the treatment process. Kinetic analysis reveals that the introduction of Mn decreases the activation energy of the styrene–divinylbenzene skeleton from 48.164 kJ mol−1 to 41.696 kJ mol−1 and decreases the degradation temperature of the resin by 78 °C. Compared to the original resin, the destruction and removal efficiency of Mn-doped cation exchange resin increased from 75.07% to 85.28% during molten salt oxidation at 650 °C. According to the scanning electron microscope analysis and characterization studies, Mn promotes a 55.71% reduction in the average particle diameter of resin structural fragments. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analysis of the resin residues demonstrates that Mn doping influences the catalytic decomposition of –SO2– and S–O within sulfonic acid groups. This catalytic effect induces destabilization and subsequent ring-opening of the benzene ring. These results imply that Mn doping can facilitate molten carbonate oxidation destruction of cation exchange resins. The X-ray diffraction analysis of waste salt reveals that with increasing oxidation time, the transformation of Mn proceeds as (Mn2O6)6− → (MnO3)2− → (MnO2)− at 750 °C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

An unclassical structure of {Ru(C6H6)}‐based polyoxometalate, Cs6H4[Te2Mo12O46{Ru(C6H6)}] ⋅ 16.5H2O (1), has been successfully constructed from {Te2Mo12O46}‐type heteropolymolybdate and {Ru(C6H6)} group, which structure type was discovered for the first time. Compound 1 not only possesses strong light‐harvesting ability, but also exhibits high carrier separation efficiency and lower charge transfer resistance. Under visible light irradiation, compound 1 displayed excellent catalytic activity and circularity in the conversion of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde (yield=94 %; turnover number=500; turnover frequency=20.8 h−1). Finally, the electron paramagnetic resonance measurement and energy level matching analysis provide theoretical basis for the derivation of the reaction mechanism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The synthesis of highly efficient visible‐light‐responsive photocatalysts is fundamental to solving the problems of low efficiency and poor selectivity in photocatalytic organic synthesis reactions. We synthesized a crystalline polyoxometalate @metal‐organic framework material {Zn4(H2O)8[Ir(ppy)2(dcbpy)]4[SiW12O40]} ⋅ 4H2O (Ir−SiW) by self‐assembly of Ir metalloligands with POMs. The introduction of Ir metalloligands extends the light absorbing range to visible light, improving the efficient utilization of solar energy. The transfer of photogenerated electrons from Ir metalloligands to SiW12 was observed under visible light irradiation, which boosted the carrier separation efficiency. The synergistic effect of the two components increased the photocatalytic thioether oxidation activity, and the product methyl phenyl sulfoxide for 2.5 h under visible light irradiation (λ >400 nm) reached 99.5 %, which was higher than those of other POM‐based photocatalysts. Meanwhile, the yield of methyl phenyl sulfoxide was still higher than 97 % after three cycles, demonstrating the high stability and reusability of Ir−SiW. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

117. A coarse pixel scale ground 'truth' dataset based on the global in situ site measurements to support validation and bias correction of satellite surface albedo products

Abstract

In situ measurements from sparsely distributed networks worldwide are a valuable source of the reference data for validating or correcting the bias of satellite products. However, the significant differences in spatial scale between in situ and satellite measurements make them incomparable except for that the underlying surface of in situ sites is absolutely homogeneous. Instead, in site measurements need to be upscaled to be matched with satellite pixel. Based on the upscaling model we proposed as well as the consideration that in-situ observation generally lacks spatial representativeness due to the widely distributed spatial heterogeneity, we have developed a coarse pixel-scale ground "truth" dataset based on ground measurements of 368 in situ sites from the sparsely distributed observation networks. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the dataset was carefully evaluated over the sites with different degrees of spatial representativeness. The results demonstrate that using this dataset in validation outperforms the direct comparison between satellite and in situ site measurements. The accuracy of the reference data employed for validation or bias correction can be enhanced by 3.5 % overall with this dataset. But the performance of the dataset show dependence on the degree of spatial heterogeneity. Specifically, the improvement of accuracy was the most significant over the regions with strong spatial heterogeneity, with the accuracy of reference data enhanced by 7.3 %. To the best of our knowledge, this dataset is unique in providing coarse pixel scale ground truth with the widest spatial distribution and longest time series. Its ability to capture both spatial and temporal variations of surface albedo at coarse spatial scales makes it an invaluable resource for validating and correcting global surface albedo products.

A heteropolytungstate cluster [{Ru2O(bpy)2}2{Bi2W32O110}]10− (bpy = C10H8N2) was incorporated into a 2 : 1 type layered porous framework by interweaving the Na+ bridged cluster chains through the hydrogen bonding ability of the bpy ligands.
