Detecting small objects in images poses significant challenges due to their limited pixel representation and the difficulty in extracting sufficient features, often leading to missed or false detections. To address these challenges and enhance detection accuracy, this paper presents an improved small object detection algorithm, CRL-YOLOv5. The proposed approach integrates the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) attention mechanism into the C3 module of the backbone network, which enhances the localization accuracy of small objects. Additionally, the Receptive Field Block (RFB) module is introduced to expand the model's receptive field, thereby fully leveraging contextual information. Furthermore, the network architecture is restructured to include an additional detection layer specifically for small objects, allowing for deeper feature extraction from shallow layers. When tested on the VisDrone2019 small object dataset, CRL-YOLOv5 achieved an mAP50 of 39.2%, representing a 5.4% improvement over the original YOLOv5, effectively boosting the detection precision for small objects in images. Background: Schistosomiasis is a global public health issue. In China, while the seroprevalence of Schistosomiasis japonica has currently reduced to a relatively low level, risk of infection still exists in certain areas. However, there has been a lack of comprehensive research on the long-term trends of national seroprevalence, changes across age groups, and characteristics in spatial distribution, which is crucial for effectively targeting interventions and achieving the goal of eliminating schistosomiasis by 2030. Our study aimed to address this gap by analyzing the long-term trends of Schistosomiasis japonica seroprevalence in China from 1982 to 2020 based on the data from diverse sources spanning a period of 39 years. Methodology: Seroprevalence data were collected from literature databases and national schistosomiasis surveillance system. Meta-analysis was conducted to estimate the seroprevalence. Joinpoint model was used to identify changing trend and inflection point. Inverse distance weighted interpolation was used to determine the spatial distribution of seroprevalence. Principal findings: The seroprevalence decreased from 34.8% in 1982 to 2.4% in 2020 in China. Before 2006, the seroprevalence was higher in the middle age group, and a pattern of increasing with age was observed afterwards. The areas with high seroprevalence existed in Dongting Lake, Poyang Lake, Jianghan Plain, the Anhui branch of the Yangtze River and some localized mountainous regions in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. Conclusions/Significance: There was a significant decline in the seroprevalence of Schistosomiasis japonica from 1982 to 2020 in China. Nevertheless, schistosomiasis has not been eradicated; thus, implementing precise and personalized monitoring measures is crucial for the elimination of schistosomiasis, especially in endemic areas and with a particular focus on the elderly. The MDCK cell line is perceived as better than the embryos of hen eggs for the production of influenza vaccines, but the tumorigenicity of these cells is concerning. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is likely to be a crucial target that contributes to the tumorigenicity of MDCK cells. In this study, EGFR-knockdown and EGFR-overexpression cell lines were established. EGFR's influence on cell growth, migration, clonogenic ability, and flu virus susceptibility was evaluated in vitro, and its role in cell tumorigenicity was examined in nude mice. GST pull-down coupled with mass spectrometry (MS) and bioinformatics analysis identified EGFR-interacting proteins. The expression levels of these proteins, as well as those of PI3K–AKT- and MAPK–ERK-signaling-pathway-related molecules, were confirmed at both gene and protein levels. The result indicates that EGFR overexpression can enhance cell proliferation, migration, and clonal formation; EGFR knockdown could effectively curtail tumorigenesis and amplify the titers of influenza viruses in MDCK cells. An analysis of the underlying mechanism identified a total of 21 interacting proteins implicated in tumor formation, and among these, AKT1, CDK4, GNB2, and MAPK8 were confirmed at both gene and protein levels. EGFR can activate key factors of the PI3K–AKT signaling pathway, AKT and PI3K, and promote their phosphorylation levels. Consequently, we concluded that EGFR interacts with GNB2, facilitating transmembrane signal transduction, activating the PI3K–AKT signaling cascade, controlling cell cycle alterations, stimulating cell proliferation, and promoting tumorigenesis. Objective To independently verify and compare the accuracy of 2 cardiovascular risk prediction models, Framingham model and New Zealand Diabetes Cohort Study (DCS) model in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods A total of 48 063 T2DM patients aged from 30 to 74 who had medical records but no cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in the Chinese electronic health records research in Yinzhou (CHERRY) were enrolled from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2018. Kaplan Meier method was used to calculate the actual risk of CVD in following 5 years, and the recalibrated Framingham model and DCS model were adopted to estimate the predicted 5-year risks of the diseases. The performance of the models was assessed in terms of discrimination and calibration degrees, using C-index and Hosmer-Lemeshow Chi-square value respectively. Results Through a median follow-up of 5.9 years, 2 867 new CVD cases were observed among the subjects. However, both the Framingham and the DCS models underestimated the risk of subjects, by 3.6% (Framingham) and 21.1% (DCS) in males, and by 21.0% (Framingham) and 20.9% (DCS) in females, respectively. For males, the DCS model (C-index=0.716, 95%CI: 0.702~0.730) had a better discriminative ability than the Framingham one (C-index=0.662, 95%CI: 0.648~0.677), though the performance of calibration was not ideal in both models (P < 0.05). For females, C-index was 0.743 in DCS (95%CI: 0.730~0.756) and 0.686 in Framingham models (95%CI: 0.673-0.700), both showing poor performance on calibration (P < 0.05). Conclusion Both Framingham model and DCS model are confirmed inapplicable to CVD risk prediction in Chinese population with T2DM.

In this study, SnO wrap on SnS was prepared and incorporated into carbon fiber/expanded graphite (CF/EG) cementitious composites by the coating process. The effects of different SnO wrap on SnS coating ratios and contents on the microstructures of CF/EG cementitious composites were investigated and discussed, and the thermoelectric properties of SnO wrap on SnS CF/EG cementitious composites were systematically investigated in the temperature range of 35–70 °C. The results show that the coating ratio and content of SnO wrap on SnS have a significant effect on the thermoelectric properties of CF/EG cementitious composites. It is noteworthy that when the SnO wrap on SnS is 2:1, the thermoelectric properties of its cementitious composites are greatly improved. For example, when it is added at 1.0 wt%, the conductivity is 2.27 S/cm, the Seebeck coefficient is 41.90 µV/°C and the power factor is 0.38 µW·m−1K−2. The addition of SnO wrap on SnS to CF/EG cementitious materials generates a large number of interfaces, and the presence of high-density interfaces hinders the motion of carriers, which leads to the scattering of carriers at the interfaces and enhances the Seebeck effect in cementitious composites. Over‐estimation of summer precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) is a well‐known and persistent problem in most climate models. This study demonstrates the impact of a Gaussian Probability Density Function cloud fraction scheme on rainfall simulations using the Weather Research and Forecasting model. It is found that this scheme in both 0.1° and 0.05° resolutions significantly reduces the wet bias through both local feedbacks and large‐scale dynamic process. Specifically, increased cloud water/ice content with this scheme reduces surface shortwave radiation, and consequently surface heat fluxes and evapotranspiration. This, in turn, dampens the large‐scale thermal effect of the TP and weakens the exaggerated monsoon circulation and low‐level moisture convergence. It is this large‐scale dynamic process that contributes the most (∼70%) to the wet bias reduction. Although this paper presents a modeling study, it highlights the cloud radiative feedback to the large‐scale dynamics and precipitation over the TP. Plain Language Summary: Despite numerous attempts to correct the overestimation of summer precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) in current global and regional climate models, the issue persists. This study applies the Gaussian Probability Density Function (GPDF) cloud fraction scheme in the Weather Research and Forecasting model at two different resolutions (0.1° and 0.05°) during a summer over the TP. The results show that the GPDF scheme significantly mitigates the precipitation overestimation, particularly in the high‐resolution modeling. We explored the physical processes, both local and remote, that contribute to this improvement. Specifically, an increase in cloudiness reduces the amount of radiation reaching the land surface. This decrease in surface radiative heating not only reduces local evaporation but also weakens the thermal effect of the TP. The latter is a major driver of the South Asian monsoon that conveys moisture to the TP, and its weakening reduces moisture convergence over the TP. Both the decreases in local evaporation and remote moisture convergence contribute to the alleviation of the precipitation overestimation, and the latter plays a dominant role. These findings provide a unique perspective for reducing the wet bias over the TP, focusing on the surface available energy and associated remote moisture processes. Sustainable production of 1,4-pentanediol (1,4-PDO) from biomass is of great importance because 1,4-PDO is a monomer of degradable polyesters and plastics. This paper reviews the conversion of biomass-derived levulinic acid (LA) and furfural as well as their derivatives alkyl levulinate, γ-valerolactone (GVL) and furfuryl alcohol (FAL) into 1,4-PDO. MoOx or ReOx modified noble metal catalysts and non-noble metal catalysts with core–shell and alloy structures show a high 1,4-PDO yield and stability in LA hydrogenation under severe hydrothermal conditions. The conversion of furfural to 1,4-PDO involves the initial C＝O bond hydrogenation to form FAL, the consecutive acid-catalyzed ring-opening and the final hydrogenation. Therefore, it needs a bifunctional catalyst composed of metallic species and acid sites to improve the 1,4-PDO yield. Efforts are made here to highlight the employed catalysts, structure–performance relationship, reaction pathway and reaction mechanism in detail. The current challenges for large-scale applications of conversion of LA and furfural to 1,4-PDO have been proposed, including process development, catalyst cost, solvent and active site distribution. Defect segmentation holds significant importance in industrial applications. However, most existing algorithms are tailored to specific scenarios, lacking a unified defect segmentation algorithm for defect segmentation. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of defects, we aim to propose a unified transformer‐based defect segmentation algorithm. On the one hand, the defect foreground exhibits significant differences from the normal background. Nevertheless, the attention mechanism in the transformer involves all feature nodes in the feature map to the similarity score of one patch with all other patches. This approach may compromise the features of potential defect areas where the defect foreground significantly contrasts with the background. We introduce the Attention Similarity Outlier Suppression (ASOS) strategy to address this challenge. Our method is designed to select valid attention scores and filter out outlier scores for appropriate attention fusion, in which the feature of potential defect areas is not easily affected by background. On the other hand, the defect regions often have relatively small areas. We incorporate a Hierarchical Feature Integration (HFI) module in our framework to facilitate defect recognition at different scales. By progressively up‐sampling, features can achieve better integration to generate the final segmentation result. Extensive experiments have verified the effectiveness of our proposed method in defect segmentation tasks. New co-processed excipients comprising lactose (filler and sweetener), microcrystalline cellulose (MCC, filler), and low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose (L-HPC, disintegrant and binder) were developed via solvent evaporation for the preparation of metoclopramide orally disintegrating tablets (MCP ODTs). Single-factor and Box–Behnken experimental designs were employed to optimize the formulation. The optimized formulation ratios were water: MCC: lactose (g/g) = 17.26:2.79:4.54:1. The results demonstrated that particles formed by solvent evaporation had superior flowability and compressibility compared to the physical mixture. Tablets compressed with these co-processed excipients exhibited a significantly reduced disintegration time of less than 25 s and achieved complete dissolution within 5 min. Pharmacokinetic studies revealed that MCP ODTs significantly improved Cmax, which was 1.60-fold higher compared to conventional tablets. In summary, the lactose/L-HPC/MCC triple-based co-processed excipients developed in this study are promising and could be successfully utilized in orally disintegrating and fast-release tablets. Minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (mini-PCNL) maintains a stone clearance rate similar to standard PCNL while reducing blood loss. Bleeding is a complex and serious complication that can arise after PCNL surgery. Pseudoaneurysm (PA) is an uncommon type of delayed bleeding problem, which affects less than 1% of patients after PCNL. The most effective treatment for severe post-PCNL hemorrhage is super-selective renal angiographic embolization (SRAE), but it can fail in some patients and require additional surgical intervention. This report details the case of a male patient, 55 years old, who experienced severe bleeding four times and had three SRAE procedures and one laparoscopic procedure after PCNL. The presence of a renal artery pseudoaneurysm was not initially identified during the first two attempts of angiography due to arterial spasm and a small, undeveloped lesion. This case report is intended to enhance awareness of tiny pseudoaneurysms, emphasizing the importance of avoiding oversight to improve the success rate of embolization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Deep neural network has been successfully applied to image classification, but recent research work shows that deep neural network is vulnerable to adversarial attacks. A moving target defense method was proposed by means of dynamic switching model with a Bayes-Stackelberg game strategy, which could prevent an attacker from continuously obtaining consistent information and thus blocked its construction of adversarial examples. To improve the defense effect of the proposed method, the gradient consistency among the member models was taken as a measure to construct a new loss function in training for improving the difference among the member models. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the moving target defense performance of the image classification system and significantly reduce the attack success rate against the adversarial examples.
