The emergence of bulk carbon ferromagnetism is long-expected over years. At nanoscale, carbon ferromagnetism was detected by analyzing the magnetic edge states via scanning tunneling microscopy(STM), and its origin can be explained by local redistribution of electron wave function. In larger scale, carbon ferromagnetism can be created by deliberately producing defects in graphite, and detected by macroscopic technical magnetization. Meanwhile, it becomes crucial to determine that the detected magnetization is originated from carbon rather than from magnetic impurities. One solution is X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). Nonetheless, a reproducible, full section of XMCD spectrum across C-1s absorption energy has not appeared yet, which should be decisive for assuring the indisputable existence of bulk carbon ferromagnetism. Besides, the lack of direct observation on the atomic structure of the ferromagnetic carbon leaves the structural origin of its ferromagnetism still in mist. In this work, for detecting bulk carbon ferromagnetism, we managed to grow all-carbon film consisting of vertically aligned graphene multi-edge (VGME), which wove into a three-dimensional hyperfine-porous network. Magnetization (M-H) curves and XMCD spectra co-confirmed bulk carbon ferromagnetism of VGME at room temperature, with the average unit magnetic momentum of ~0.0006 miuB/atom. The influence of magnetic impurities on magnetization was excluded by both absorption spectra and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry measurements. The spin transfer behavior also verified the long-range and robust feature of the bulk carbon ferromagnetism. Our work provides direct evidence of elementary resolved bulk carbon ferromagnetism at room temperature and clarifies its origin from pi-electrons at graphene edges.

We determine for the first time the renormalization-group (RG) evolution equation for the $B$-meson soft function dictating the non-perturbative strong interaction dynamics of the long-distance penguin contributions to the exclusive $b \to q \ell^{+} \ell^{-}$ and $b \to q \gamma$ decays. The distinctive feature of the ultraviolet renormalization of this fundamental distribution amplitude consists in the novel pattern of mixing positive into negative support for an arbitrary initial condition. The exact solution to this integro-differential RG evolution equation of the bottom-meson soft function is then derived with the Laplace transform technique, allowing for the model-independent extraction of the desired asymptotic behaviour at large/small partonic momenta., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures

Optical metasurfaces, consisting of subwavelength-scale meta-atom arrays, hold great promise to overcome fundamental limitations of conventional optics. Scalable nanomanufacturing of metasurfaces with high uniformity and reproducibility is key to transferring technology from laboratory demonstrations to commercialization. Recently, nanoimprint lithography (NIL) has attracted increasing interests for metasurface fabrication because of its superior nanometer resolution, rapid prototyping and large-area manufacturing capability. Despite NIL demonstrations of single-layer metasurface, scalable fabrication of double- and multi-layer metasurfaces remains challenging. Here we leverage the nanometer-scale resolution and 3D pattern transfer capability of NIL to fabricate multi-layered metasurfaces for on-chip polarimetric imaging devices. Our process achieved sub-100 nm nanostructures, high alignment accuracy (translational error <200 nm; rotational error <0.02{\deg}), and good uniformity (<4 nm linewidth deviation) over >20 mm2. The zero-shot performance of visual question answering (VQA) models relies heavily on prompts. For example, a zero-shot VQA for disaster scenarios could leverage well-designed Chain of Thought (CoT) prompts to stimulate the model's potential. However, using CoT prompts has some problems, such as causing an incorrect answer in the end due to the hallucination in the thought process. In this paper, we propose a zero-shot VQA named Flood Disaster VQA with Two-Stage Prompt (VQA-TSP). The model generates the thought process in the first stage and then uses the thought process to generate the final answer in the second stage. In particular, visual context is added in the second stage to relieve the hallucination problem that exists in the thought process. Experimental results show that our method exceeds the performance of state-of-the-art zero-shot VQA models for flood disaster scenarios in total. The generation of emotional talking faces from a single portrait image remains a significant challenge. The simultaneous achievement of expressive emotional talking and accurate lip-sync is particularly difficult, as expressiveness is often compromised for the accuracy of lip-sync. As widely adopted by many prior works, the LSTM network often fails to capture the subtleties and variations of emotional expressions. To address these challenges, we introduce DREAM-Talk, a two-stage diffusion-based audio-driven framework, tailored for generating diverse expressions and accurate lip-sync concurrently. In the first stage, we propose EmoDiff, a novel diffusion module that generates diverse highly dynamic emotional expressions and head poses in accordance with the audio and the referenced emotion style. Given the strong correlation between lip motion and audio, we then refine the dynamics with enhanced lip-sync accuracy using audio features and emotion style. To this end, we deploy a video-to-video rendering module to transfer the expressions and lip motions from our proxy 3D avatar to an arbitrary portrait. Visual question answering (VQA) is a fundamental and essential AI task, and VQA-based disaster scenario understanding is a hot research topic. For instance, we can ask questions about a disaster image by the VQA model and the answer can help identify whether anyone or anything is affected by the disaster. However, previous VQA models for disaster damage assessment have some shortcomings, such as limited candidate answer space, monotonous question types, and limited answering capability of existing models. In this paper, we propose a zero-shot VQA model named Zero-shot VQA for Flood Disaster Damage Assessment (ZFDDA). It is a VQA model for damage assessment without pre-training. Also, with flood disaster as the main research object, we build a Freestyle Flood Disaster Image Question Answering dataset (FFD-IQA) to evaluate our VQA model. This new dataset expands the question types to include free-form, multiple-choice, and yes-no questions. At the same time, we expand the size of the previous dataset to contain a total of 2,058 images and 22,422 question-meta ground truth pairs. Most importantly, our model uses well-designed chain of thought (CoT) demonstrations to unlock the potential of the large language model, allowing zero-shot VQA to show better performance in disaster scenarios. The experimental results show that the accuracy in answering complex questions is greatly improved with CoT prompts. This article introduces GIT-Net, a deep neural network architecture for approximating Partial Differential Equation (PDE) operators, inspired by integral transform operators. GIT-NET harnesses the fact that differential operators commonly used for defining PDEs can often be represented parsimoniously when expressed in specialized functional bases (e.g., Fourier basis). Unlike rigid integral transforms, GIT-Net parametrizes adaptive generalized integral transforms with deep neural networks. When compared to several recently proposed alternatives, GIT-Net's computational and memory requirements scale gracefully with mesh discretizations, facilitating its application to PDE problems on complex geometries. Numerical experiments demonstrate that GIT-Net is a competitive neural network operator, exhibiting small test errors and low evaluations across a range of PDE problems. This stands in contrast to existing neural network operators, which typically excel in just one of these areas.

We present four main contributions to enhance the performance of Large Language Models (LLMs) in generating domain-specific code: (i) utilizing LLM-based data splitting and data renovation techniques to improve the semantic representation of embeddings' space; (ii) introducing the Chain of Density for Renovation Credibility (CoDRC), driven by LLMs, and the Adaptive Text Renovation (ATR) algorithm for assessing data renovation reliability; (iii) developing the Implicit Knowledge Expansion and Contemplation (IKEC) Prompt technique; and (iv) effectively refactoring existing scripts to generate new and high-quality scripts with LLMs. By using engineering simulation software RedHawk-SC as a case study, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our data pre-processing method for expanding and categorizing scripts. When combined with IKEC, these techniques enhance the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) method in retrieving more relevant information, ultimately achieving a 73.33% "Percentage of Correct Lines" for code generation problems in MapReduce applications.

In this work, we develop and release Yuan 2.0, a series of large language models with parameters ranging from 2.1 billion to 102.6 billion. The Localized Filtering-based Attention (LFA) is introduced to incorporate prior knowledge of local dependencies of natural language into Attention. A data filtering and generating system is presented to build pre-training and fine-tuning dataset in high quality. A distributed training method with non-uniform pipeline parallel, data parallel, and optimizer parallel is proposed, which greatly reduces the bandwidth requirements of intra-node communication, and achieves good performance in large-scale distributed training. Yuan 2.0 models display impressive ability in code generation, math problem-solving, and chatting compared with existing models. This letter investigates the challenge of channel estimation in a multiuser millimeter-wave (mmWave) time-division duplexing (TDD) system. In this system, the base station (BS) employs a multi-antenna uniform linear array (ULA), while each mobile user is equipped with a fluid antenna system (FAS). Accurate channel state information (CSI) plays a crucial role in the precise placement of antennas in FAS. Traditional channel estimation methods designed for fixed-antenna systems are inadequate due to the high dimensionality of FAS. To address this issue, we propose a low-sample-size sparse channel reconstruction (L3SCR) method, capitalizing on the sparse propagation paths characteristic of mmWave channels. In this approach, each fluid antenna only needs to switch and measure the channel at a few specific locations. By observing this reduced-dimensional data, we can effectively extract angular and gain information related to the sparse channel, enabling us to reconstruct the full CSI. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed method allows us to obtain precise CSI with minimal hardware switching and pilot overhead. Collaborative filtering is a critical technique in recommender systems. It has been increasingly viewed as a conditional generative task for user feedback data, where newly developed diffusion model shows great potential. However, existing studies on diffusion model lack effective solutions for modeling implicit feedback. Particularly, the standard isotropic diffusion process overlooks correlation between items, misaligned with the graphical structure of the interaction space. Meanwhile, Gaussian noise destroys personalized information in a user's interaction vector, causing difficulty in its reconstruction. In this paper, we adapt standard diffusion model and propose a novel Graph Signal Diffusion Model for Collaborative Filtering (named GiffCF). To better represent the correlated distribution of user-item interactions, we define a generalized diffusion process using heat equation on the item-item similarity graph. Our forward process smooths interaction signals with an advanced family of graph filters, introducing the graph adjacency as beneficial prior knowledge for recommendation. Our reverse process iteratively refines and sharpens latent signals in a noise-free manner, where the updates are conditioned on the user's history and computed from a carefully designed two-stage denoiser, leading to high-quality reconstruction. Finally, through extensive experiments, we show that GiffCF effectively leverages the advantages of both diffusion model and graph signal processing, and achieves state-of-the-art performance on three benchmark datasets., Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, accepted by SIGIR 2024
