The LowMC is an algorithm with low multiplicative complexities. For the parameter with limited data complexities and low number of S-boxes, the difference enumeration attack was proposed, which could theoretically attack all rounds of the LowMC. Considering that the original attack is based on the random linear layer,the strength of LowMC algorithm against differential enumeration attacks under a specific linear layer deserves more study. The difference enumeration attack cannot reach theoretical rounds through the research on the so-called key initial round. In terms of some LowMC instances, the key initial round is smaller than the theoretical value, which leads to the failure of the difference enumeration attack. Since the number of rounds of the LowMC is completely based on existing attacks, the analysis is of great significance to the rounds design of the LowMC.

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), a lipid metabolite, plays a role in both neuropathic and inflammatory pain through LPA1 receptors. P2X3 receptor has also been shown to participate in these pathological processes. However, it is still unclear whether there is a link between LPA signaling and P2X3 receptors in pain. Herein, we show that a functional interaction between them in rat dorsal root ganglia (DRG) neurons. Pretreatment of LPA concentration-dependently enhanced α,β-methylene-ATP (α,β-meATP)-induced inward currents mediated by P2X3 receptors. LPA significantly increased the maximal current response of α,β-meATP, showing an upward shift of the concentration-response curve for α,β-meATP. The LPA enhancement was independent on the clamping-voltage. Enhancement of P2X3 receptor-mediated currents by LPA was prevented by the LPA1 receptor antagonist Ki16198, but not by the LPA2 receptor antagonist H2L5185303. The LPA-induced potentiation was also attenuated by intracellular dialysis of either G-protein inhibitor or protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor, but not by Rho inhibitor. Moreover, LPA significantly changed the membrane potential depolarization and action potential burst induced by α,β-meATP in DRG neurons. Finally, LPA exacerbated α,β-meATP- induced nociceptive behaviors in rats. These results suggested that LPA potentiated the functional activity of P2X3 receptors in rat primary sensory neurons through activation of the LPA1 receptor and its downstream PKC rather than Rho signaling pathway, indicating a novel peripheral mechanism underlying the sensitization of pain.

Abstract Background Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in pain processing and hypersensitivity. It regulates not only the expression of a variety of inflammatory mediators but also the functional activity of some ion channels. Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs), as key sensors for extracellular protons, are expressed in nociceptive sensory neurons and contribute to pain signaling caused by tissue acidosis. It is still unclear whether TNF-α has an effect on functional activity of ASICs. Herein, we reported that a brief exposure of TNF-α acutely sensitized ASICs in rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. Methods Electrophysiological experiments on rat DRG neurons were performed in vitro and acetic acid induced nociceptive behavior quantified in vitro. Results A brief (5min) application of TNF-α rapidly enhanced ASIC-mediated currents in rat DRG neurons. TNF-α (0.1-10 ng/ml) dose-dependently increased the proton-evoked ASIC currents with an EC50 value of 0.12 ± 0.01 nM. TNF-α shifted the concentration-response curve of proton upwards with a maximal current response increase of 42.34 ± 7.89%. In current-clamp recording, an acute application of TNF-α also significantly increased acid-evoked firing in rat DRG neurons. The rapid enhancement of ASIC-mediated electrophysiological activity by TNF-α was prevented by p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) inhibitor SB202190, but not by non-selective cyclooxygenase inhibitor indomethacin, suggesting that p38 MAPK is necessary for this enhancement. Behaviorally, TNF-α exacerbated acid-induced nociceptive behaviors in rats via activation of local p38 MAPK pathway. Conclusions These results suggest that TNF-α rapidly enhanced ASIC-mediated functional activity via a p38 MAPK pathway, which revealed a novel peripheral mechanism underlying TNF-α involvement in rapid hyperalgesia by sensitizing ASICs in primary sensory neurons.

Phyllachora (Phyllachoraceae, Phyllachorales) species are parasitic fungi with a wide global distribution, causing tar spots on plants. In this study, we describe three newly discovered species: Phyllachora chongzhouensis, Phyllachora neidongensis, and Phyllachora huiliensis from Poaceae in China. These species were characterized using morphological traits and multi-locus phylogeny based on the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) with the intervening 5.8S rRNA gene, the large subunit of the rRNA gene (LSU), and the 18S ribosomal RNA gene (SSU). Three known species of P. chloridis, P. graminis, and P. miscanthi have also been redescribed, because, in reviewing the original references of P. chloridis, P. graminis, and P. miscanthi, these were found to be relatively old and in Chinese or abbreviated. In addition, the illustrations were simple. In molecular identification, the ITS sequence is short, while the ITS, LSU, and SSU are incomplete. Therefore, this study provides new important references for the redescription of three known species and provides further evidence for the identification of new taxa. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Catalpol, a natural iridoid glycoside, has potential therapeutic benefits, including anti‐inflammatory and neuroprotective effects. Investigating catalpol's role in angiogenesis is critical for understanding its potential therapeutic applications, particularly in diseases where modulating angiogenesis is beneficial. This study investigates catalpol's influence on angiogenesis and its mechanisms, combining network pharmacology and in vitro experiments. The target genes corresponding to the catalpol were analyzed by SwissTargetPrediction. Then angiogenesis‐related targets were acquired from databases like GeneCards. Subsequently, the Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery was employed for Gene Ontology and pathway analysis, while Cytoscape visualized protein interactions. The effect of catalpol on viability and angiogenesis of HUVECs was further examined using Cell Counting Kit‐8 and angiogenesis assays. RT‐qPCR and western blot were applied to check the expression of angiogenesis‐related proteins. Totally, 312 target genes of catalpol and 823 angiogenesis‐related targets were obtained with 56 common targets leading to PPI network analysis, highlighting hub genes (AKT1, EGFR, STAT3, MAPK3, and CASP3). These hub genes were mainly enriched in lipid and atherosclerosis pathway and EGFR‐related pathway. The in vitro experimental results showed that catalpol achieved a concentration‐dependent increase in HUVECs viability. Catalpol also promoted the migration and angiogenesis of HUVECs and up‐regulated the expression of EGFR. EGFR knockdown inhibited the effect of catalpol on HUVECs. Catalpol promotes angiogenesis in HUVECs by upregulating EGFR and angiogenesis‐related proteins, indicating its potential therapeutic application in vascular‐related diseases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

g-C3N4 nanosheets photoelectrode was prepared by a facile drop coating method. The influences of precursor materials and bias voltages on the photoelectrocatalytic properties towards tetracycline degradation using as-prepared g-C3N4 nanosheets photoelectrode (DUCN) were studied. The results demonstrate that the DUCN photoelectrode prepared by calcination of urea and dicyandiamide precursor mixtures exhibits the highest pollutant removal efficiency, which may be due to its best film formation property and highest photoelectron-hole separation efficiency. In addition, in the process of photoelectrocatalysis (PEC), photocatalysis (PC) and electrocatalysis (EC) promote and optimize each other, showing a significant synergistic effect. The DUCN photoelectrode displays the highest removal rate of tetracycline with an initial concentration of 5 mg/L at a bias of 1.0 V, which are 5.6 times and 3.8 times of that obtained by single photocatalytic and electrocatalytic process, respectively. The reason for the enhanced pollutant removal efficiency may be that the external bias voltage enables the photogenerated electrons transfer to the counter electrode more efficiently under the photoelectric synergistic effect, which promotes the separation of photogenerated electrons and holes.
