Dark sectors charged under a new Abelian interaction have recently received much attention in the context of dark matter models. These models introduce a light new mediator, the so-called dark photon (A^{'}), connecting the dark sector to the standard model. We present a search for a dark photon in the reaction e^{+}e^{-}→γA^{'}, A^{'}→e^{+}e^{-}, μ^{+}μ^{-} using 514 fb^{-1} of data collected with the BABAR detector. We observe no statistically significant deviations from the standard model predictions, and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the mixing strength between the photon and dark photon at the level of 10^{-4}-10^{-3} for dark photon masses in the range 0.02-10.2 GeV. We further constrain the range of the parameter space favored by interpretations of the discrepancy between the calculated and measured anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

We measure the direct CP violation asymmetry, ACP, in B→Xsγ and the isospin difference of the asymmetry, ΔACP, using 429fb-1 of data collected at(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- storage rings operating at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. B mesons are reconstructed from ten charged B final states and six neutral B final states. We find ACP=+(1.7±1.9±1.0)%, which is in agreement with the Standard Model prediction and provides an improvement on the world average. Moreover, we report the first measurement of the difference between ACP for charged and neutral decay modes, ΔACP=+(5.0±3.9±1.5)%. Using the value of ΔACP, we also provide 68% and 90% confidence intervals on the imaginary part of the ratio of the Wilson coefficients corresponding to the chromomagnetic dipole and the electromagnetic dipole transitions.

We present measurements of Collins asymmetries in the inclusive process e+e-→ππX, where π stands for charged pions, at a center-of-mass energy of 10.6 GeV. We use a data sample of 468fb-1 collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B factory at SLAC, and consider pairs of charged pions produced in opposite hemispheres of hadronic events. We observe clear asymmetries in the distributions of the azimuthal angles in two distinct reference frames. We study the dependence of the asymmetry on several kinematic variables, finding that it increases with increasing pion momentum and momentum transverse to the analysis axis, and with increasing angle between the thrust and beam axis.

Evidence is presented for the baryonic B meson decay B̄0→ D0ΛΛ̄ based on a data sample of 471×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider located at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The branching fraction is determined to be B(B̄0→D0ΛΛ̄)=(9.8-2.6+2. 9±1.9)×10-6, corresponding to a significance of 3.4 standard deviations including additive systematic uncertainties. A search for the related baryonic B meson decay B̄0→D0Σ0Λ̄ with Σ0→Λγ is performed and an upper limit B(B̄0→D0Σ0Λ̄+B̄0→D0ΛΣ̄0)

We study the processes γγ→K+K-η and γγ→K+K-π0 using a data sample of 519fb-1 recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the (nS) (n=2,3,4) resonances. We observe ηc→K+K-π0 and ηc→K+K-η decays, measure their relative branching fraction, and perform a Dalitz plot analysis for each decay. We observe the K0*(1430)→Kη decay and measure its branching fraction relative to the Kπ decay mode to be R(K0*(1430))=B(K0*(1430) →Kη)B(K0*(1430)→Kπ)=0.092±0.025-0.025+0.010. The ηc→K+K-η and K0*(1430)→Kη results correspond to the first observations of these channels. The data also show evidence for ηc(2S)→K+K-π0 and first evidence for ηc(2S)→K+K-η. © 2014 American Physical Society.

We study the process e+e-→ψ(2S)π+π- with initial-state-radiation events produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the (nS) (n=2,3,4) resonances and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 520fb-1. We investigate the ψ(2S)π+π- mass distribution from 3.95 to 5.95GeV/c2, and measure the center-of-mass energy dependence of the associated e+e-→ψ(2S)π+π- cross section. The mass distribution exhibits evidence of two resonant structures. A fit to the ψ(2S)π+π- mass distribution corresponding to the decay mode ψ(2S)→J/ψπ+π- yields a mass value of 4340±16(stat) ±9(syst)MeV/c2 and a width of 94±32(stat)±13(syst)MeV for the first resonance, and for the second a mass value of 4669±21(stat) ±3(syst)MeV/c2 and a width of 104±48(stat)±10(syst)MeV. In addition, we show the π+π- mass distributions for these resonant regions. © 2014 American Physical Society.

We present measurements of the inclusive production of antideuterons in e+e- annihilation into hadrons at ≈10.58GeV center-of-mass energy and in (1S,2S,3S) decays. The results are obtained using data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II electron-positron collider. Assuming a fireball spectral shape for the emitted antideuteron momentum, we find B((1S)→d̄X)=(2. 81±0.49(stat)-0.24+0.20(syst))×10-5, B((2S)→d̄X)=(2. 64±0.11(stat)-0.21+0.26(syst))×10-5, B((3S)→d̄X)=(2. 33±0.15(stat)-0.28+0.31(syst))×10-5, and σ(e+e- →d̄X)=(9.63±0.41(stat)-1.01+1.17(syst)fb. © 2014 American Physical Society.

We measure the total branching fraction of the flavor-changing neutral-current process B→Xℓ+ℓ-, along with partial branching fractions in bins of dilepton and hadronic system (Xs) mass, using a sample of 471×106 (4S)→BB̄ events recorded with the BABAR detector. The admixture of charged and neutral B mesons produced at PEP-II2 are reconstructed by combining a dilepton pair with 10 different Xs final states. Extrapolating from a sum over these exclusive modes, we measure a lepton-flavor-averaged inclusive branching fraction B(B→Xℓ+ℓ-)=[6.73-0.64+0.70(stat)-0. 25+0.34(exp syst)±0.50(model syst)]×10-6 for mℓ+ℓ-2>0. 1GeV2/c4. Restricting our analysis exclusively to final states from which a decaying B meson's flavor can be inferred, we additionally report measurements of the direct CP asymmetry ACP in bins of dilepton mass; over the full dilepton mass range, we find ACP=0.04±0.11±0.01 for a lepton-flavor- averaged sample. © 2014 American Physical Society.

We study the processes e+e-→KS0KL0γ, KS0KL0π+π-γ, KS0KS0π+π-γ, and KS0KS0K+K-γ, where the photon is radiated from the initial state, providing cross section measurements for the hadronic states over a continuum of center-of-mass energies. The results are based on 469fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. We observe the φ(1020) resonance in the KS0KL0 final state and measure the product of its electronic width and branching fraction with about 3% uncertainty. We present a measurement of the e+e-→KS0KL0 cross section in the energy range from 1.06 to 2.2 GeV and observe the production of a resonance at 1.67 GeV. We present the first measurements of the e+e-→KS0KL0π+π-, KS0KS0π+π-, and KS0KS0K+K- cross sections and study the intermediate resonance structures. We obtain the first observations of J/ψ decay to the KS0KL0π+π-, KS0KS0π+π-, and KS0KS0K+K- final states. © 2014 American Physical Society.

We describe searches for B meson decays to the charmless vector-vector final states ωω and ωφ with 471×106BB̄ pairs produced in e+e- annihilation at s=10.58GeV using the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We measure the branching fraction B(B0→ωω)=(1.2±0.3-0.2+0.3)×10- 6, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, corresponding to a significance of 4.4 standard deviations. We also determine the upper limit B(B0→ωφ)

The e+e-→pp̄ cross section and the proton magnetic form factor have been measured in the center-of-mass energy range from 3.0 to 6.5 GeV using the initial-state radiation technique with an undetected photon. This is the first measurement of the form factor at energies higher than 4.5 GeV. The analysis is based on 469 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider at e+e - center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The branching fractions for the decays J/ψ→pp̄ and ψ(2S)→pp̄ have also been measured. © 2013 American Physical Society.

Based on the full BABAR data sample, we report improved measurements of the ratios R(D)=B(B̄→Dτ-ν̄τ)/ B(B̄→Dℓ-ν̄ℓ) and R(D*)=B(B̄→D*τ-ν̄τ)/ B(B̄→D*ℓ-ν̄ℓ), where ℓ refers to either an electron or muon. These ratios are sensitive to new physics contributions in the form of a charged Higgs boson. We measure R(D)=0.440±0.058±0.042 and R(D*)=0.332±0. 024±0.018, which exceed the standard model expectations by 2.0σ and 2.7σ, respectively. Taken together, the results disagree with these expectations at the 3.4σ level. This excess cannot be explained by a charged Higgs boson in the type II two-Higgs-doublet model. Kinematic distributions presented here exclude large portions of the more general type III two-Higgs-doublet model, but there are solutions within this model compatible with the results. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We search for a low-mass scalar CP-odd Higgs boson, A0, produced in the radiative decay of the upsilon resonance and decaying into a τ+τ- pair: Υ(1S)→γA0. The production of Υ(1S) mesons is tagged by Υ(2S) →π+π-Υ(1S) transitions, using a sample of (98.3±0.9)×106 Υ(2S) mesons collected by the BABAR detector. We find no evidence for a Higgs boson in the mass range 3.5≤m A0≤9.2 GeV, and combine these results with our previous search for the tau decays of the light Higgs in radiative Υ(3S) decays, setting limits on the coupling of A0 to the bb̄ quarks in the range 0.09-1.9. Our measurements improve the constraints on the parameters of the next-to-minimal-supersymmetric Standard Model and similar theories with low-mass scalar degrees of freedom. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We report a measurement of the D0 meson mass using the decay chain D*(2010)+→D0π+ with D0→K -K-K+π+. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the Υ(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 477 fb-1. We obtain m(D0)=(1864.841±0.048±0.063) MeV, where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. We report a measurement of the branching fraction of the exclusive charmless semileptonic decay B+→ωℓ+ν, where ℓ is either an electron or a muon. We use samples of B+ mesons tagged by a reconstructed charmed semileptonic decay of the other B meson in the event. The measurement is based on a data set of 426.1 fb-1 of e+e- collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e- storage rings. We measure a branching fraction of B(B+→ωℓ+ν)=(1.35±0.21±0. 11)×10-4, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We also present measurements of the partial branching fractions in three bins of q2, the invariant-mass squared of the lepton-neutrino system, and we compare them to theoretical predictions of the form factors. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We describe a measurement of the time-integrated luminosity of the data collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the γ(4S), γ(3S), and γ(2S) resonances and in a continuum region below each resonance. We measure the time-integrated luminosity by counting e+e-→e+e- and (for the γ(4S) only) e+e-→μ+μ- candidate events, allowing additional photons in the final state. We use data-corrected simulation to determine the cross-sections and reconstruction efficiencies for these processes, as well as the major backgrounds. Due to the large cross-sections of e+e-→e+e- and e+e-→μ+μ-, the statistical uncertainties of the measurement are substantially smaller than the systematic uncertainties. The dominant systematic uncertainties are due to observed differences between data and simulation, as well as uncertainties on the cross-sections. For data collected on the γ(3S) and γ(2S) resonances, an additional uncertainty arises due to γ→ e+e-X background. For data collected off the γ resonances, we estimate an additional uncertainty due to time dependent efficiency variations, which can affect the short off-resonance runs. The relative uncertainties on the luminosities of the on-resonance (off-resonance) samples are 0.43% (0.43%) for the γ(4S), 0.58% (0.72%) for the γ(3S), and 0.68% (0.88%) for the γ(2S). © 2013 Elsevier B.V.

We measure the mass difference Δm0 between the D*(2010)+ and the D0 and the natural linewidth Γ of the transition D*(2010)+ → D0π+. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the Υ(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 477 fb(-1). The D0 is reconstructed in the decay modes D0 → K- π+ and D0 → K- π+ π- π+. For the decay mode D0 → K- π+ we obtain Γ = (83.4±1.7±1.5) keV and Δm0 = (145425.6±0.6±1.7) keV, [corrected] where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. For the D0 → K- π+ π- π+ mode we obtain Γ = (83.2±1.5±2.6) keV and Δm0 = (145426.6±0.5±1.9) keV. [corrected] The combined measurements yield Γ = (83.3±1.2±1.4) keV and Δm0 = (145425.9±0.4±1.7) keV; the width is a factor of approximately 12 times more precise than the previous value, while the mass difference is a factor of approximately 6 times more precise.

A precise measurement of the cross section for the process e +e-→K+K-(γ) from threshold to an energy of 5 GeV is obtained with the initial-state radiation (ISR) method using 232 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at e+e- center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The measurement uses the effective ISR luminosity determined from the e +e-→μ+μ-(γ) γISR process with the same data set. The corresponding lowest-order contribution to the hadronic vacuum polarization term in the muon magnetic anomaly is found to be aμKK,LO=(22.93±0.18 stat±0.22syst)×10-10. The charged kaon form factor is extracted and compared to previous results. Its magnitude at large energy significantly exceeds the asymptotic QCD prediction, while the measured slope is consistent with the prediction. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We present a search for the decay B+→τ+ν using 467.8×106 BB̄ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II B-Factory. We select a sample of events with one completely reconstructed B- in the hadronic decay mode (B-→D(*)0X- and B -→J/ψX-). We examine the rest of the event to search for a B+→τ+ν decay. We identify the τ+ lepton in the following modes: τ+→e +νν̄, τ+→μ+νν ̄, τ+→π+ν̄ and τ+→ρ+ν̄. We find an excess of events with respect to the expected background, which excludes the null signal hypothesis at the level of 3.8σ (including systematic uncertainties) and corresponds to a branching fraction value of B(B+→τ +ν)=(1.83-0.49+0.53(stat)±0.24(syst))×10 -4. © 2013 American Physical Society.

Inclusive production cross sections of π±, K ± and p/p̄ per hadronic e+e- annihilation event are measured at a center-of-mass energy of 10.54 GeV, using a relatively small sample of very high quality data from the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II B-factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The drift chamber and Cherenkov detector provide clean samples of identified π±, K±, and p/p̄ over a wide range of momenta. Since the center-of-mass energy is below the threshold to produce a BB̄ pair, with B a bottom-quark meson, these data represent a pure e +e-→qq̄ sample with four quark flavors, and are used to test QCD predictions and hadronization models. Combined with measurements at other energies, in particular at the Z0 resonance, they also provide precise constraints on the scaling properties of the hadronization process over a wide energy range. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We present results for a time-dependent Dalitz plot measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in the mode B0→π+π -π0. The data set is derived from the complete sample of 471×106 BB̄ meson pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory operating on the Υ(4S) resonance. We extract parameters describing the time-dependent B0→ρπ decay probabilities and CP asymmetries, including C=0.016±0.059±0.036, ΔC=0.234±0.061±0.048, S=0.053±0.081±0.034, and ΔS=0.054±0.082±0.039, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We perform a two-dimensional likelihood scan of the direct CP-violation asymmetry parameters for B0→ρ±πâ̂ decays, finding the change in χ2 between the minimum and the origin (corresponding to no direct CP violation) to be Δχ2=6.42. We present information on the CP-violating parameter α in a likelihood scan that incorporates B ±→ρπ measurements. To aid in the interpretation of our results, statistical robustness studies are performed to assess the reliability with which the true values of the physics parameters can be extracted. Significantly, these studies indicate that α cannot be reliably extracted with our current sample size, though the other physics parameters are robustly extracted. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decays B→K(*) νν̄, and the invisible decays J/ψ→νν̄ and ψ(2S)→νν̄ via B→K(*) J/ψ and B→K(*) ψ(2S), respectively, using a data sample of 471×106 BB̄ pairs collected by the BABAR experiment. We fully reconstruct the hadronic decay of one of the B mesons in the Υ(4S)→BB̄ decay, and search for the B→K(*) νν̄ decay in the rest of the event. We observe no significant excess of signal decays over background and report branching fraction upper limits of B(B+→K +νν̄)

The process e+e-→pp̄γ is studied using 469 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, at an e+e - center-of-mass energy of 10.6 GeV. From the analysis of the pp̄ invariant mass spectrum, the energy dependence of the cross section for e+e-→pp̄ is measured from threshold to 4.5 GeV. The energy dependence of the ratio of electric and magnetic form factors, |GE/GM|, and the asymmetry in the proton angular distribution are measured for pp̄ masses below 3 GeV. The branching fractions for the decays J/ψ→pp̄ and ψ(2S)→pp̄ are also determined. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We study the decay B̄0→Λc+p̄π +π-, reconstructing the Λc+ baryon in the pK-π+ mode, using a data sample of 467×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage rings at SLAC. We measure branching fractions for decays with intermediate Σc baryons to be B[B̄0→Σ c(2455)++p̄π-]=(21. 3±1.0±1.0±5.5)×10-5, B[B ̄0→Σc(2520)++p̄ π-]=(11.5±1.0±0.5±3.0)×10-5, B[B̄0→Σc(2455)0p̄π+]=(9.1±0.7±0.4±2. 4)×10-5, and B[B̄0→Σ c(2520)0p̄π+]=(2.2±0.7±0. 1±0.6)×10-5, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the uncertainty on the Λc+→pK -π+ branching fraction, respectively. For decays without Σc(2455) or Σc(2520) resonances, we measure B[B̄0→Λc+p̄π+π -]non-Σc=(79±4±4±20) ×10-5. The total branching fraction is determined to be B[B̄0→Λc+p̄π+π-] total=(123±5±7±32)×10-5. We examine multibody mass combinations in the resonant three-particle Σcp̄π final states and in the four-particle Λc+p̄π+π- final state, and observe different characteristics for the p̄π combination in neutral versus doubly charged Σc decays. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We present improved measurements of CP-violation parameters in the decays B0→π+π-, B0→K+π-, and B0→π0π0, and of the branching fractions for B0→π0π0 and B0→K0π0. The results are obtained with the full data set collected at the Υ(4S) resonance by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, corresponding to (467±5)×106 BB̄ pairs. We find the CP-violation parameter values and branching fractions: Sπ+π-=- 0.68±0.10±0.03, Cπ+π-=-0.25±0.08±0. 02, AK-π+=-0.107±0.016-0.004+0.006, C π0π0=-0.43±0.26±0.05, B(B0→π0π0)=(1. 83±0.21±0.13)×10-6, B(B0→K0π0)=(10. 1±0.6±0.4)×10-6, where in each case, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We observe CP violation with a significance of 6.7 standard deviations for B0→π+π- and 6.1 standard deviations for B0→K+π-, including systematic uncertainties. Constraints on the unitarity triangle angle α are determined from the isospin relations among the B→ππ rates and asymmetries. Considering only the solution preferred by the Standard Model, we find α to be in the range [71, 109] at the 68% confidence level. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We report a search for CP violation in the decay modes D ±→KS0K±, Ds±→KS0K ±, and Ds±→KS0π± using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469 fb-1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e+e - storage rings. The decay rate CP asymmetries, ACP, are determined to be (+0.13±0.36(stat)±0.25(syst))%, (-0.05±0.23(stat)±0.24(syst))%, and (+0.6±2.0(stat) ±0.3(syst))%, respectively. These measurements are consistent with zero, and also with the Standard Model prediction [(-0.332±0.006)% for the D±→KS0K± and Ds±→KS0K ± modes, and (+0.332±0.006)% for the Ds±→KS0π± mode]. They are the most precise determinations to date. © 2013 American Physical Society.

The integrated CP-violating decay rate asymmetry ACP is determined to be (0.37±0.30±0.15)%. Model-independent and model-dependent Dalitz plot analysis techniques are used to search for CP-violating asymmetries in the various intermediate states. We present a measurement of the B+→ωℓ +ν branching fraction based on a sample of 467 million BB̄ pairs recorded by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e+e - collider. We observe 1125±131 signal decays, corresponding to a branching fraction of B(B+→ωℓ+ν)= (1.21±0.14±0.08)×10-4, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. The dependence of the decay rate on q2, the invariant mass squared of the leptons, is compared to QCD predictions of the form factors based on a quark model and light-cone sum rules. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We search for di-muon decays of a low-mass Higgs boson (A0) produced in radiative Υ(1S) decays. The Υ(1S) sample is selected by tagging the pion pair in the Υ(2S,3S)→π+π-Υ(1S) transitions, using a data sample of 92.8×106 Υ(2S) and 116.8×106 Υ(3S) events collected by the BABAR detector. We find no evidence for A0 production and set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product branching fraction B(Υ(1S)→γA0) ×B(A0→μ+μ-) in the range of (0.28-9.7)×10-6 for 0.212≤mA0≤9.20 GeV/c2. The results are combined with our previous measurements of Υ(2S,3S) →γA0, A0→μ+μ- to set limits on the effective coupling of the b quark to the A0. © 2013 American Physical Society.

We present a measurement of D0-D̄0 mixing and CP violation using the ratio of lifetimes simultaneously extracted from a sample of D0 mesons produced through the flavor-tagged process D*+→D0π+, where D0 decays to Kâπ ±, K-K+, or π -π+, along with the untagged decays D0→K âπ± and D0→K-K +. The lifetimes of the CP-even, Cabibbo-suppressed modes K -K+ and π-π+ are compared to that of the CP-mixed mode Kâπ± in order to measure yCP and ΔY. We obtain yCP=[0.72±0. 18(stat)±0.12(syst)]% and ΔY=[0.09±0.26(stat)±0. 06(syst)]%, where ΔY constrains possible CP violation. The yCP result excludes the null mixing hypothesis at 3.3σ significance. This analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of 468 fb-1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e - collider. © 2013 American Physical Society.

The photon spectrum in B→Xs γ decay, where X s is any strange hadronic state, is studied using a data sample of (382.8±4.2)×106 e+e-→Υ(4S)→BB events collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II collider. The spectrum is used to measure the branching fraction B(B→Xsγ)=(3. 21±0.15±0.29±0.08)×10-4 and the first, second, and third moments YEγ Ÿ ;=2.267±0. 019±0.032±0.003 GeV, Y(Eγ-YEγ Ÿ) 2Ÿ=0.0484±0.0053±0.0077±0.0005 GeV2, and Y(Eγ-YEγ Ÿ) 3Ÿ=-0.0048±0. 0011±0.0011±0.0004 GeV3, for the range Eγ>1.8 GeV, where Eγ is the photon energy in the B-meson rest frame. Results are also presented for narrower Eγ ranges. In addition, the direct CP asymmetry ACP(B→Xs+dγ) is measured to be 0.057±0.063. The spectrum itself is also unfolded to the B-meson rest frame; that is the frame in which theoretical predictions for its shape are made. © 2012 American Physical Society.

We present a new measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry of B0→D*+D*- decays using (471±5) million BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B Factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Using the technique of partial reconstruction, we measure the time-dependent CP asymmetry parameters S=-0.34±0.12±0.05 and C=+0.15±0.09±0.04. Using the value for the CP-odd fraction R⊥=0.158±0. 028±0.006, previously measured by BABAR with fully reconstructed B0→D*+D*- events, we extract the CP-even components S+=-0.49±0.18±0.07±0.04 and C +=+0.15±0.09±0.04. In each case, the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic; the third uncertainty on S + is the contribution from the uncertainty on R ⊥. The measured value of the CP-even component S+ is consistent with the value of sin2β measured in b→(cc̄)s transitions, and with the Standard Model expectation of small penguin contributions. © 2012 American Physical Society.

Although CP violation in the B meson system has been well established by the B factories, there has been no direct observation of time-reversal violation. The decays of entangled neutral B mesons into definite flavor states (B(0) or B(0)), and J/ψK(L)(0) or ccK(S)(0) final states (referred to as B(+) or B(-)), allow comparisons between the probabilities of four pairs of T-conjugated transitions, for example, B(0) → B(-) and B(-) → B(0), as a function of the time difference between the two B decays. Using 468 × 10(6) BB pairs produced in Υ(4S) decays collected by the BABAR detector at SLAC, we measure T-violating parameters in the time evolution of neutral B mesons, yielding ΔS(T)(+) = -1.37 ± 0.14(stat) ± 0.06(syst) and ΔS(T)(-) = 1.17 ± 0.18(stat) ± 0.11(syst). These nonzero results represent the first direct observation of T violation through the exchange of initial and final states in transitions that can only be connected by a T-symmetry transformation.

We report a study of the process γγ→X→η cπ +π -, where X stands for one of the resonances χ c2(1P), η c(2S), X(3872), X(3915), or χ c2(2P). The analysis is performed with a data sample of 473.9fb -1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. We do not observe a significant signal for any channel, and calculate 90% confidence-level upper limits on the products of branching fractions and two-photon widths Γ X→γγB(X→η cπ +π -): 15.7eV for χ c2(1P), 133eV for η c(2S), 11.1eV for X(3872) (assuming it to be a spin-2 state), 16eV for X(3915) (assuming it to be a spin-2 state), and 18eV for χ c2(2P). We also report upper limits on the ratios of branching fractions B(η c(2S) →η cπ +π -)/B(η c(2S) →KS0K +π -)

We present measurements of the branching fractions of three-prong and five-prong τ decay modes using a sample of 430million τ lepton pairs, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 468fb -1, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e +e - storage rings at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The τ -→(3π) -ην τ, τ -→(3π) -ων τ, and τ -→π -f 1(1285)ν τ branching fractions are presented, as well as a new limit on the branching fraction of the second-class current decay τ -→π -η ′(958)ν τ.
