Thermally induced current in low noise polymeric coaxial cables can introduce significant errors in certain applications. For e-beam crosslinked polymeric cable, the thermally induced current signal can be as high as 1 nA/m. The origin of such thermally induced signals is explained, based on the change of morphology and dielectric polarization as a function of temperature. The results of measurements carried out on three types of cables over a wide range of temperature are in good agreement with numerical simulations which involve the nonlinear thermal properties of the cable materials.

The temperature distribution over the cross-section of an asynchronous squirrel cage machine is calculated by taking into account the copper losses and the iron losses at the steady-state condition. At the transient conditions the deep-bar effect in the rotor is taken into account. Due to the deep bar effect, the current densities and thermal sources in the bar change and as a consequence the resistances, the leakage reactances, the currents and the thermal sources in the stator copper are also altered. Trilayered CoFe/Ru/CoFe synthetic films were optimized as a pinned layer of spin-valve. The thermal stability of the PtMn synthetic spin-valve was investigated as a function of temperature. The thermal stability of PtMn based synthetic spin-valve was superior to that of the normal PtMn based spin-valve. Index Terms--Magnetoresistance, PtMn, Synthetic spin valve, Thermal stability.

The magnetic properties, thermal stability and anti-corrosion properties of [Cr.sub.86][Al.sub.14] multilayer spin valves have been studied CrAl spin valves are more thermally stable than FeMn, and the inserted Co layer prevents the CrAl spin valves from becoming poor for the magnetic properties. It was also confirmed that there were no changes of [H.sub.ex] and MR ratio for CrAl. While [H.sub.ex] and MR ratio for FeMn spin valve were lost 15 days later in corrosion resistance test under 35 [degrees] C with 90% humidity conditions. A comparison of the kinetics of titanium dioxide deposition between titanium nitrate (TN) and titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) over a large range of temperature revealed substantial variances in the reaction rate-limited regime. This is attributed to the differences in the surface lifetime of the two precursors, its diffusion length as well as its selectivity. The results also provide an explanation for the observed decrease in titanium dioxide grain size with increased temperature.
