The article describes the state of online learning at Voronezh State University and presents general information about its main components, such as e- library resources, electronic system for education process management, and the university’s online courses. Since 2001 the University is a participant of the scientific and technological program “Creation of the open education system in the Russian Federation”. Within the framework of this program an informational and educational portal Voronezh. OpeNet.ru − “Voronezh virtual university” has been established, which is a part of the mega-portal of the Russian informational and educational environment of open education (www.OpeNet.ru). In 2007 the University has started the work for implementation of network education based on LMS Moodle. Online education is being realized on three levels: e-library resources, organization of educational process (“Electronic University”), and online courses (distant courses, university online courses, and open online courses). Distant courses include 59 courses on ecology and learning foreign languages worked out in the framework of Tempus project. At present Voronezh State University is developing its own open online courses (MOOC) using the experience of Tomsk State University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The implementation of online learning makes it possible to realize two main principles of modern education − “education for everybody” and “lifelong education”.

The article is a commentary on the motu proprio of Pope Francis Imparare a congedarsi of February 12, 2018, concerning the resignation from some of the higher church offices to which nomination is given by the pope. The ascetic motivation that should accompany the clergyman in his retirement are at first presented. Next, the new provisions of the new legislation are discussed. The first is the change of the way in which high office holders in the Roman Curia lose their office – instead of leaving office at a certain age, they are obliged to resign to the Pope. The possibility that the resignation of the Roman Bishop may be considered for an indefinite period of time is criticised. During this time, which may be freely prolonged, because the bishop of the diocese is able to suspend and leave his office at any time, which is not conducive to the good performance of his pastoral mission and undermines the stability of the bishop’s office. The Bishop, successor to the apostles, is of systemic importance in the Church and requires adequate stability. Therefore, it can never be treated as an office ad tempus.

This contribution will provide a critical overview of the other papers within this special issue of Journal of World Prehistory (Elliott and Little 2018), identifying key aspects of the discussion and assessing potentials and problems in the development of Mesolithic archaeology in Britain and Ireland as a whole since 2006 (Conneller and Warren in Mesolithic Britain and Ireland: New approaches, Stroud, Tempus, 2006a). Reflections will include how the contribution of very high-resolution analyses to Mesolithic archaeology has changed since 2006 and the scale of our interpretations. The review will also identify areas which appear to be falling from analytical focus, including the role of analogies in Mesolithic archaeology and the nature of power and social relationships in Mesolithic communities.

We have developed a clinically validated NGS assay that includes tumor, germline and RNA sequencing. We apply this assay to clinical specimens and cell lines, and we demonstrate a clinical sensitivity of 98.4% and positive predictive value of 100% for the clinically actionable variants measured by the assay. We also demonstrate highly accurate copy number measurements and gene rearrangement identification.

Following the aesthetics of pure continuity in the late 1970s, Grisey moved on to compose for unpitched percussion inTempus ex Machina, focusing on pure rhythm. Shortly afterwards he elaborated on his theory of temporality in a talk and article of the same title; one decade later, he includedTempusas the first movement ofLe Noir de l’Étoile. Grisey insisted on the significance of the perception of musical time, of theskinof time – as opposed to itsskeletonorflesh. This article puts forward an interpretation of Grisey's thinking of temporality, drawing on concepts from French philosophy. It further provides an analysis of two sections ofLe Noir, tracing these concepts in the structuring of musical time, with a view to providing a possible direction towards a re-definition of spectral time.

Twenty-five years ago in response to the collapse of communism in Poland, an academic consortium was formed around two Polish Universities of Life Sciences (formerly Universities of Agriculture) for a Tempus project. The consortium has expanded from a project to revise curricula in agricultural economics within a market economy to much wider educational and research interests. The consortium’s main achievement has been in the organisation and accreditation of MBA programmes which has subsequently been augmented by a network for other educational and research programmes in a number of countries (AGRIMBA). This article explores the social net benefits of this example of investment in human capital relying on the concepts laid down by the Nobel Prize winners Theodore Schulz and Gary Becker.

The article considers the information and analytical system for professional public accreditation of agricultural programs in Russia developed within the project "Development of Public Accreditation of Agricultural Programs in Russia, PACAgro" funded under the European Union Program TEMPUS. The procedure of professional public accreditation includes several stages: preparation by the educational organization of a self-evaluation report on the study programs declared for professional public accreditation, submitting an application for accreditation by the educational institution, the preparation for review, the procedure of external review at the educational organization, procedure of accreditation decision-making by the Accreditation Board and data input into the Register of accredited study programs, publication of the Register. The information and analytical system provides among other things an automated performance of each stage.

Nella Federazione Russa attualmente convivono più di 190 gruppi etnici. L’incremento esponenziale di xenofobia, nazionalismo e islamofobia ha evidenziato l’importanza decisiva del tema della gestione della multiculturalità, ma le forze politiche, amministrative e culturali russe appaiono ancora impreparate. Il progetto ALLMEET, finanziato all’interno del programma europeo Tempus, vuole valorizzare e potenziare il ruolo delle università come istituzioni di primo piano per una diffusione capillare dei principi dell’educazione interculturale non solo presso studenti e ricercatori, ma presso tutti gli strati della popolazione, pianificando e promuovendo azioni in stretta sinergia con la società civile. L’analisi di tale progetto permette di mettere bene in evidenza i nessi che intercorrono tra i concetti e le pratiche dell’educazione interculturale, della capacity building, dell’internazionalizzazione delle istituzioni universitarie, con conseguente apertura a contesti un tempo raramente battuti, e del lifelong learning. L’intento è quello di mostrare come le università debbano assumersi ruoli propulsivi per promuovere azioni che pongano al centro questi concetti e queste pratiche, coinvolgendo le altre istituzioni e proiettando scopi e risultati ben oltre le pareti delle proprie stanze. Currently more than 190 ethnic groups live in the Russian Federation. The exponential increase of xenophobia, nationalism and Islamophobia has highlighted the crucial importance of the management of multiculturalism dynamics, but the political, administrative and cultural Russian institutions still appear unprepared. The ALLMEET project, funded under the European Tempus program, wants to enhance and strengthen the role of universities as leading institutions to the widespread dissemination of the principles of the intercultural education, addressing not only to students and researchers, but to all the population, planning and promoting actions in synergy with civil society. The analysis of this project allows to demonstrate clearly the links that exist between the concepts and practices of intercultural education, capacity building, lifelong learning and internationalization of universities. The intent is to show how universities should take a propulsive roles to promote actions that focus on these concepts and practices, involving other institutions and projecting purposes and results far beyond the walls of their rooms.

There have been proposed the overview of the main activities of universities in knowledge transfer and proposed conceptual framework of collaboration between universities and industry. Expounded list of factors which influence knowledge management tools at the university level, affecting the sustainability of the system of cooperation between universities and industry. The ontology model of cooperation between universities and industry was developed in connection with modern knowledge management tools. The model was tested by three Ukrainian universities as part of the Tempus project. Was emphasized the necessity of knowledge transfer model implementation, which can increase the innovative capacity of Ukrainian industry.

Higher education institutions worldwide are increasingly investing in ‘internationalisation’, although its meanings and measures differ significantly between contexts, countries, and institutions. This article analyses the implementation of internationalisation in three second-tier higher education institutions specialising in teacher training programmes in Israel under an EU-funded TEMPUS (Trans-European Mobility Programme for University Studies) project. We show how internationalisation is implemented at these institutions, where diverse motivations, power relations, and ideas intervene. We discuss the main themes that emerged through semi-structured interviews with the colleges’ leadership, supporting our findings with a content analysis of the colleges’ strategic plans. Our study provides new insights, revealing how the EU internationalisation agenda is interpreted locally in such settings, thereby highlighting the importance of the particular context in this process.

University of Debrecen is the oldest higher educational institution in continuous operation in Hungary based in the same city. MBA training at Debrecen Agricultural University was initiated by 0257-91/1 Tempus Joint European Project Grant. The project was coordinated by the Netherlands Institute for Management (RVB) Maastricht. Participating institutions include University College in Dublin, Agricultural University in Wageningen and Debrecen Agricultural University. Minimum requirements established were a BSc (or equivalent) degree, an English certificate of language proficiency and one letter of reference from work supervisors or former teachers. Application requirements included a completed application form, Curriculum vitae, a certified copy of degree(s), an official copy of language knowledge certificate, a letter of recommendation and the receipt of registration fee payment. The academic year began on 1 September 1991, and project studies were carried out in small groups. Practical experience that had been gained before enrolment was taken into account and after the successful completion of the requirements students were granted MBA degrees. JEL CODE: I21, I25

Purpose. Development of scientific approaches to creation of high-precision and high-speed optoelectronic measurement systems within the complex of air gas safety of coal mines by means of the developed and implemented methods and means of measurement systems efficiency improvement taking into account compensation of the effect of destabilizing factors. Findings. It has been proposed to determine the efficiency of the developed information and measurement systems on the basis of the arithmetic mean of n groups and the geometric mean of the information data rate of m meters measuring mine atmosphere parameters in coal mines for each group separately. It has been found that the use of the developed information system measuring methane and dust concentration within the UTSSC increases data rate of mine air gas protection system by 16.5 bits/s. Originality. For the first time, logical design of information and measurement system of methane and dust concentration has been proposed and implemented, which, in contrast to the existing ones, is based on increasing accuracy and speed of measuring channels response to methane and dust concentration, which allowed to increase probability of detecting explosive situations from 0.90 to 0.98 and provide enhancement of mine air gas protection. Цель. Разработка научных подходов к созданию высокоточных быстродействующих оптоэлектронных измерительных систем в составе комплекса обеспечения аэрогазовой безопасности шахт за счет использования предложенных и реализованных методов и средств повышения эффективности измерительных систем на основе учета и компенсации влияния дестабилизирующих факторов. Результаты. Предложено определять эффективность исследуемой информационно-измерительной системы на основе среднего арифметического n групп среднего геометрических значений информационных пропускных способностей m измерителей параметров рудничной атмосферы угольных шахт по каждой группе отдельно. Установлено, что использование разработанной информационно-измерительной системы концентрации метана и пыли в составе УТАС повышает пропускную способность системы аэрогазового защиты шахт на 16.5 бит/с. Научная новизна. Впервые предложено и реализовано логическое построение информационноизмерительной системы концентрации метана и пыли, которая, в отличие от существующих, основана на повышении точности и быстродействия измерительных каналов концентрации метана и пыли, что позволило увеличить вероятность обнаружения взрывоопасных ситуаций с 0.90 до 0.98 и обеспечить рост уровня аэрогазовой защиты шахт. Мета. Розробка наукових підходів до створення високоточних швидкодіючих оптоелектронних вимірювальних систем у складі комплексу забезпечення аерогазової безпеки шахт за рахунок використання запропонованих і реалізованих методів та засобів підвищення ефективності вимірювальних систем на основі обліку й компенсації впливу дестабілізуючих факторів. Вперше запропоновано і реалізовано логічну побудову інформаційно-вимірювальної системи концентрації метану та пилу, яка, на відміну від існуючих, заснована на підвищенні точності та швидкодії вимірювальних каналів концентрації метану і пилу, що дозволило збільшити вірогідність виявлення вибухонебезпечних ситуацій з 0.90 до 0.98 та забезпечити зростання рівня аерогазового захисту шахт.

Der vorliegende Beitrag prasentiert die Ergebnisse einer Analyse der Anthologie Deutscher Novellenschatz nach Kriterien, die sich als Epizitatsindikatoren aus Hamburgers Theorie ableiten lassen.

Remote experiments in engineering education have appeared as another option after the traditional laboratories and simulations. These laboratories are some kind similar to simulation techniques in that they require minimal space and time, because the laboratory experiments can be fast configured and run over the Internet. From functional point of view these remote labs can be seen as software products and specific standards can be adapted in order to evaluate their main characteristics. The remote laboratory experiments provide real data, the simulations don’t. This paper presents a model for technical evaluation of the remote laboratories in engineering education that takes account both technical and pedagogical factors. The proposed model was applied on an educational network build in the European Tempus project called “eSience”. The main objectives of this project were to build a network of working remote laboratoriess in the Maghrebian countries, to investigate and implement the state-of-the art solutions. The main goal of the proposed evaluation model is to identify measurable educational parameters in order to estimate the functionality of remote laboratories and simulations, according to specific standards.

This article introduces a new medical subjectivity generated by the drive towards prevention that increasingly organises the discourses and practices of medicine, as well as war, state security and economy. The ante-tempus patient is the subjectivity emerging at a moment in time in which medical advances and interventions are shaping the present according to future needs, in order to face anticipated threats to human health. Contemporary science fiction offers a fertile ground for investigating this, as well as the resulting anxieties about mass-medicalisation. The first part of the article explores the concept of preventative mass-medicalisation and the exploitation and harvesting of ‘health’ in neoliberal societies. In the second part, the speculative novel The Unit [Ninni Holmqvist, trans. Marlaine Delargy (Oxford: Oneworld Publications, [2006] 2010)] exemplifies and contextualises the key features of ante-tempus patienthood. This medical subjectivity embodied by the novel’s main characters represents the outcome of the attempt to create a medical utopia. In this society of medical management, biological exploitation, forced medicalisation and self-sacrifice merge with neoliberal ideology, casting the discourse of preventative medicine in dystopian terms.

This article describes the process of competence-based curriculum development in nursing education at Western Balkan (WB) universities. Nursing education in the WB has been noncompliant with the standard educational approaches of the European Union's directive on regulated professions. The overall aim of the TEMPUS project "Competency-Based Curriculum Reform in Nursing and Caring in Western Balkan Universities" was to bring curricular reform for bachelor's nursing education in the WB region in line with competence-based education and professional standards to demonstrate compliance with all member countries of the European Union.

There has been an ongoing interest in establishing efficient methods of entrepreneurial education (EE). Within our knowledge, there is no academic research that interrogates entrepreneurship and EE for medical students. This research seeks to explore the perceived feasibility and desirability of entrepreneurship for medical students and investigate their expectations in EE. Firstly, perceptional differences in feasibility and desirability were investigated through cluster analysis. In the following step, ANOVA tests were used to examine differences in EE expectations. The data was collected using a survey questionnaire, which was developed and funded by the Tempus FoSentHE Project Consortium. Findings show that students can be clustered into four groups by taking perceived feasibility and desirability into consideration. Statistical differences were recorded for only seven of the twenty educational and entrepreneurial activities. In conclusion, students value networking activities, real experience, and prefer lecturers who are experienced entrepreneurs.

To meet the high demand of educating the next generation of MSc students in Cyber security, we propose a well-composed curriculum and a configurable cloud based learning support environment ReSeLa. The proposed system is a result of the EU TEMPUS project ENGENSEC and has been extensively validated and tested.

Objective Studies of mRNA and miRNA expression profiling increasingly use stabilized whole blood. Commercial RNA extraction kits do not provide information about the simultaneous recovery of both mRNA and miRNA. This study evaluated yield, quality, integrity and representation of mRNA and miRNA from whole blood stabilized in Tempus tubes using three RNA extraction kits; two filter-based (Tempus and Norgen) and one bead-based (MagMax; manual vs. semi-automated, and with and without DNase treatment). Results All RNA extraction kits and methods resulted in similar yields of mRNA (total RNA yield, quality, integrity and representation) whereas there were differences in yields of miRNA. MagMax, either manual or semi-automated, with or without DNase treatment, yielded 1.6–2.2-fold more miRNA than Tempus and Norgen kits. In addition, MagMax and Norgen methods gave greater than 12-fold more and 3.3-fold less enrichment of specific miRNA targets, respectively, in comparison to Tempus extraction reagents. This study identified MagMax kit for simultaneous recovery of both mRNA and miRNA from whole blood collected in Tempus tubes.

This chapter describes the introduction in Israel of the innovative CEFR-Aligned Framework for English in Higher Education, developed through the TEMPUS ECOSTAR project which had identified the need and demand for a new integrated four-skills approach to English for academic purposes (EAP). The current push towards internationalization in higher education (a) requires English-medium instruction skills and (b) allows for standardization and mutual recognition, nationally and internationally, to promote mobility. The innovation was met by the sudden emergence of a government-sponsored initiative which seriously undermined the prospects for implementing the curriculum reform and underscored the subjugation of educational and linguistic needs to political ones. The proactive response of the innovators turned the tide in the direction of curriculum reform and at the same time galvanized the EAP professional community in more ways than one. The chapter examines the interplay between linguistic, educational and political considerations that accompanied the process of developing and implementing the Framework and makes practical recommendations for innovators.

e22002 Background: Our understanding of the genomic makeup of childhood cancers has accelerated over the past decade largely due to next-generation sequencing (NGS) utilized to identify genetic drivers, aid diagnostics and risk stratification, and detect therapeutic targets. Here, we present the genomic and transcriptomic landscape of pediatric malignancies tested with a broad NGS panel at a large commercial CLIA/CAP laboratory, Tempus Labs. Methods: We used the Tempus LENS platform to analyze DNA- and RNA-seq data from a cohort of 150 de-identified records of patients with pediatric cancer aged 0 to 18 years who underwent NGS with the Tempus xT platform. Results: The cohort included 139 solid tumors, 46 of which were central nervous system (CNS) tumors, and 11 hematologic malignancies. A total of 115 samples (77%) had at least one clinically meaningful pathogenic somatic variant detected, with TP53 variants being the most common (n=26; 17.3%). Gene fusions, most commonly EWSR1-FLI1 and KIAA1549-BRAF, were observed in 31 cases (20.7%). Matched tumor/normal testing revealed at least one incidental pathogenic germline variant in six patient records, with two cases harboring two distinct variants. Four cases had tumor mutational burdens (TMBs) greater than 10 mutations/megabase, including two that also exhibited high microsatellite instability (MSI). Conclusions: The Tempus xT tumor/normal-matched platform detects clinically meaningful genomic alterations in pediatric cancers important for diagnosis, prognosis, therapeutic target identification, and incidental germline findings. We continue to accumulate and structure data to meet the need for a large, accessible pediatric cancer clinical and molecular dataset. [Table: see text]

The development of information technology, media and communication at this time has changed the behavior of society and human civilization globally. In this regard, in addition to the positive benefits arising from the development of information technology and so on, such as the emergence of facilities or media that can make it easier for humans to work, there are also negative impacts, such as crimes in cyberspace. One of the crimes in cyberspace in question is hate speech. These actions can be classified into criminal acts, because these actions will have an impact on society in general. Moreover, this action was carried out from outside the State of Indonesia using social media facilities, of course it would be very difficult to determine the place (locus delicti) and time (tempus delicti) to try the perpetrators of the hate speech crime. For this reason, it is necessary to know how to determine the locus and tempus delicti of the crime or crime in question.

According to Livy’s Periochae, L. Cornelius Cinna and C. Marius were elected to the consulship of 86 BC ‘without recourse to any electoral assembly’ (citra ulla comitia). This statement is often either dismissed outright or accepted as an accurate description of the constitutional irregularities of the Cinnanum tempus. This paper investigates how elections were conducted during this period, using the consular elections for 86 as a test case. It argues that, although the consular elections continued to take place in the comitia centuriata, there were irregularities in the way they were conducted, which may account for the epitomator’s confusion.

The aim of the presented publication is to show new opportunities of application of a a case study method (educational situations) in modern edu cational process of the higher school in general, and in particular – in teaching fundementals of business and economy wherein this method has gained special popularity. Methods and results. By means of methods of aggregation, deduction and logical synthesis, the authors developed the principles of the organization of distance training of economic disciplines on the basis of the case study method. The structure of educational cases is designated; the standard set of the materials accompanying them is designed. These practical problems were solved within implementation of the project Tempus «Acquisition of Professional and Entrepreneurial Skills by means of Education of Entrepreneurial Spirit and Consultation of the Beginning Entrepreneurs». Possible types and forms of cases were studied; several options of adaptation of their content to the electronic training environment which possesses both restrictions, and extensive additional educational potential are allocated. Various types of cases are shown based on specific examples: illustrating processes and concepts; imitating sample processes; describing original situations in real business and having decisions which are already realized in practice; cases with an uncertain answer to the asked problematic issue. The choice of this or that type of case study tasks is determined by the educational purposes and necessary level of development of a discipline. Cases supplement each other when forming the fund of evaluative means. Scientific novelty. The majority of researches define the case study method as a group discussion in the educational purposes of any problem situation and collective search of its decision, i.e. application of this method assumes classroom full-time courses. The question of use the case study method in a distance format for individual finding of knowledge and practical skills has been understudied for a long time. The materials of the present article partially close this gap. Practical significance. The discussed case study method in the publication promotes implementation of approach to professional higher education which is oriented to a student. The research and experience of application of cases in distance training of entrepreneurship fundamentals have showed the universality and efficiency of this method.

The main aim of the article is to cover the key approaches for improving the problem-based learning (PBL) in the context of students’ training for the design of modern industrial control systems. The study revealed the transformation of PBL into two complementary areas of training: Advanced Problem-Based Learning (APBL) and Real Problem-Based Learning (RPBL). The feature of APBL is the simultaneous study of several interconnected subjects on the base of projects implementation which requires the use of all of these subjects. RPBL complements APBL by training students the missing knowledge and skills through performing real projects for industrial enterprises. It is depicted that in-between transition from PBL to APBL and RPBL the role of teacher is changing. If in PBL the teacher supervises and controls the progress of the project implementation, then in APBL teacher plays the guide role from the formulation of the problem to its solution. In RPBL teacher partially becomes a member of the team carrying out the projects. Specific features of RPBL realization methodology are considered in terms of TEMPUS MEDIS project realization

The article expounds questions concerning Quality assurance of Higher education, related to the entry of Russia into the united European Higher Education Area. The main emphases is focused on the necessity to create the system for Quality assurance of Russian Higher education, which will be harmonized with European systems. Comparing of Russian and European approaches in Quality assurance of Higher education is drawn. Russian system of Quality assurance of Higher education is considered on four levels: State level, level of Higher educational institution, level of society and international level; for each level the main elements of a system are determined. Since the European approach separates the Quality assurance system into two levels, e.g. internal and external, a conversion to comparable levels is being proposed. Characteristics of EURopean ACcredited Engineer (EUR-ACE) Framework Standards are expounded. These Standards have been developed, fi rst of all, for facilitation of the procedure of acceptance of degrees and qualifi cations as well as Quality assurance of Study Programmes in European Higher Education Area. The comparison of requirements of Federal State Educational Standards for Higher education in Russian Federation and EUR-ACE Framework Standards is produced on the example of Masters’ Study programmes in Engineering. The comparison exposed similarities and, at the same time, considerable differences in examined approaches. So, the results of studies are formulated in different “coordinate systems”: according with kinds of activities in Federal State Educational Standards for Higher education, but according to the “cycle” of Engineering activity in EURACE Framework Standards. However, if the task for harmonization of standards (or requirements) could be considered out of just simple coincidence between their structures and/or definitions and terms, than the principle contradictions between European and Russian approaches in Quality assurance will not appear. It means that the ways of harmonization of European and Russian requirements to Study Programmes’ Quality assurance could be found. And the logical part of implementation of international Quality management schemes will be the accreditation of Russian Study programmes in international organizations and networks. In order to ensure the effectiveness of such tasks, it is necessary to develop an appropriate tools, which could help to formalize and systematize procedures of Study Programmes’ Quality assurance with a glance of requirements of European standards. The experience of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) on Quality assurance of Study Programmes is discussed, in particular: development and appraisal of Technique for monitoring of Study Programmes and of the Model for on-line Quality Assurance of Study Programmes with a glance of requirements of European standards, which have been created in frames of the project TEMPUS EQUASP («On-line (Electronic) Quality Assurance of Study Programmes») with participation of SPbPU. Implementation of proposed tools ensures the integrity and authenticity of information on all aspects of the realization of educational process, fulfi llment of all-European requirements on Study Programmes’ accreditation, harmonization of Russian and European Higher education systems, and, thus, forms the basis for Study Programmes’ accreditation in international organizations and networks. The Model for on-line Quality Assurance of Study Programmes is a powerful tool, which allows to bring the process of Quality Assurance of Study Programmes into accord with European standards and guidelines, to improve quality of Programmes, to increase their transparency and comparability.

Since the judgment in Case 6/64 Costa v ENEL electricity (electrical energy) has been considered as ‘good’ subject to the principle of free movement of goods of the European Union (EU). Although the EU electricity market has undergone fundamental regulatory and technological changes, this qualification still determines the assessment of regulatory solutions. The changes that have taken place have made it possible for resource adequacy to be ensured not only by generators but also by “demand side management”. It changes the market from a single-product market where electricity is the exclusive commodity (‘good’) traded to a two-commodity market where capacity securing resource adequacy is the second product. It raises the question if the capacity is good or service and how it affects qualification of electricity as a good and a model for developing EU regulation based on this assumption. In Case T-793/14 Tempus Energy the General Court challenged the British capacity market which also affected the Polish one, showing the need for delimitation of this concept. The aim of this article is to try to give answers to these questions. The article aims to propose such a delimitation and the consequences that result from for the EU electricity market.

Proceeding from the premise that Lucilius’ hexameter Aetheris et terrae genitabile quaerere tempus (fr. 1 Marx - I 1 Charpin) was inspired by Euripides fr. 182a Kannicht (Αἰθέρα καὶ Γαῖαν πάντων γeνέτeιραν ἀeίδω), sung by Amphion the musician in Antiope, the author advances two further propositions about the fragment: first, that Lucilius, influenced by the famous debate in that play between Amphion and his brother, associated satire with the active life and the genres of didactic poetry and tragedy with the contemplative life ; and secondly, that Lucilius’ direct model may have been not Euripides’ tragedy, but Pacuvius’ Latin rendering of it.

Sulla’s paradoxical dictatura legibus scribundis et rei publicae constituendae has ever remained the subject of controversy, amongst both the ancients (on which see now comprehensively Eckert 2016) and modern Roman historians. One major issue that continues to divide scholarship is that of the tempus legitimum of his dictatorship and, in particular, the approximate time of his abdication, with proposed dates ranging from as early as mid-81 to the summer of 79. This chapter revisits this question and attempts a resolution of the matter by virtue of a careful reappraisal of the extant source material. As a result, this inquiry also casts a new light on the modalities of Sulla’s abdication, his rationale, and, last but not least, the ramifications for our understanding of the transition from the late triumviral to early Augustan era. Against the background of this study, a brief postscript revisits the timing and circumstances of the notorious execution of Q. Lucretius Ofella and considers the issue of Sulla’s professed and ulterior motives., La Paradójica dictatura legibus scribundis et rei publicae constituendae de Sila ha sido siempre recordada como objeto de controversia, entre los antiguos (visto de forma exhaustiva por Eckert 2016) y modernos historiadores de Roma. Uno de los mayores problemas que divide a los estudiosos es el del tempus legitimum de su dictadora y, en particular, el momento aproximado de su abdicación, que va desde la primera mitad del 81 al verano del 79. Este texto revisa la cuestión e intenta una resolución estableciendo una revaluación de las fuentes. Como resultado, esta investigación arroja una nueva luz sobre la abdicación de Sila. Sus razones y, por último, pero no menos importante, las ramificaciones desde el último Triunvirato a la temprana época de Augusto. Al final de este studio un breve epílogo revisa el tiempo y las circunstancias de la ejecución de Q. Lucrecio Ofela y considera la cuestión de los motivos profesados por Sila.

Homozygous deletions are rare in cancers and often target tumour suppressor genes. Here, we build a compendium of 2218 primary tumours across 12 human cancer types and systematically screen for homozygous deletions, aiming to identify rare tumour suppressors. Our analysis defines 96 genomic regions recurrently targeted by homozygous deletions. These recurrent homozygous deletions occur either over tumour suppressors or over fragile sites, regions of increased genomic instability. We construct a statistical model that separates fragile sites from regions showing signatures of positive selection for homozygous deletions and identify candidate tumour suppressors within those regions. We find 16 established tumour suppressors and propose 27 candidate tumour suppressors. Several of these genes (including MGMT, RAD17, and USP44) show prior evidence of a tumour suppressive function. Other candidate tumour suppressors, such as MAFTRR, KIAA1551, and IGF2BP2, are novel. Our study demonstrates how rare tumour suppressors can be identified through copy number meta-analysis., Homozygous deletions are rare in cancers and often target tumour suppressor genes. Here, the authors conduct pan-cancer analyses and apply statistical modelling to identify 27 candidate tumour suppressors, including MAFTRR, KIAA1551, and IGF2BP2.

Objective We use Tempus blood RNA tubes (Applied Biosystems) during health assessments of American moose (Alces alces spp.) as a minimally invasive means to obtain RNA. Here we describe a novel protocol to additionally isolate high-quality DNA from the supernatant remaining after the RNA isolation methodology. Metrics used to qualify DNA quality included measuring the concentration, obtaining a DNA integrity number from a genomic DNA ScreenTape assay (Agilent), and running the isolated DNA on an agarose gel. Results Of the 23 samples analyzed, the average DNA concentration was 121 ng/µl (range 4–337 ng/µl) and a genomic DNA ScreenTape assay of seven samples indicated high DNA integrity values for 6 of the 7 samples (range 9.1–9.4 out of 10). Of the DNA sent for genotyping by sequencing, all proved to be of sufficient integrity to yield high-quality next-generation sequence results. We recommend this simple procedure to maximize the yield of both RNA and DNA from blood samples.
