101. Corrections to electroweak precision observables from mixings of an exotic vector boson in light of the CDF $W$-mass anomaly

Abstract

We enumerate various effective couplings that contribute to the mixings between an exotic vector boson $Z^{\prime}$ and the neutral electroweak vector bosons. The miscellaneous mixing patterns can be evaluated perturbatively. The effective oblique parameters $S^{\prime}$, $T^{\prime}$, and $U^{\prime}$ are calculated to compare with the electroweak precision test results. With the contributions to the non-negligible $U^{\prime}$ parameter from the $\epsilon_{B,W}$ parameters and the aid of some other parameters to cancel the negative $T^{\prime}$, the recent CDF $W$-mass anomaly can therefore be explained., Comment: S, T, U parameters are changed to the effective S', T', U'. 133. From concern to action: the role of psychological distance in attitude towards environmental issues

Abstract

Environmental issues are major global risks that call for urgent pro-environmental actions. The current literature suggested that many perceive environmental issues as psychologically distant. This perception is considered as one important psychological barrier that limits the public from adopting sustainable pro-environmental actions. The perception of environmental issues has ignited discussion of Construal Level Theory (CLT) as a theoretical framework to understand how perceived psychological distance influences attitude towards environmental protection. Our review suggested that the public may perceive environmental issues as psychologically distant on both social and spatial dimensions. We proposed that optimism bias might be one of the reasons for this. Our review highlighted the important role of psychological proximity in arousing concerns and eliciting positive attitudes toward the efforts of addressing existing environmental issues. Inducing a proximal psychological distance may elicit stronger positive attitudes towards pro-environmental behavior intention. We discussed moderators including efficacy of policy and social pressure that elucidate the role of psychological distance on attitude. Skepticism may cause one to perceive environmental issues as psychologically distant, reducing support for environmental policies. We recommended CLT as a useful theoretical framework to improve current methods on motivating and promoting actual pro-environmental behavior. We proposed that narratives of personal experiences and objective scientific reports could complement each other in communicating environmental risks. Many are often not keenly aware of environmental issues. 147. Diagrammatic structures of the Nielsen identity

Abstract

The $\Gamma$-function, or the effective potential of a gauge field theory should comply with the Nielsen identity, which implies how the effective potential evolves as we shift the gauge-fixing term. In this paper, relying on an abelian toy model, we aim at proving this identity in a diagrammatic form with the $\overline{R}_{\xi}$ gauge. The basic idea is to find out the ghost chain after partially differentiating the diagram by the $\xi$ parameter, and shrink the waists of the diagram into points to separate the bulk-part and $C$-part of the diagrams. The calculations can be generalized to the models implemented with non-abelian groups, multiple Higgs and fermion multiplets, and to the finite temperature cases. Inspired by this, we also suggest that when resumming the super-daisy diagrams, one can deduct some irrelevant terms at the connections between the daisy ringlets to fit the Nielsen identity up to arbitrary $\hbar$ orders.
