This meta-analysis aimed to determine the serum prealbumin level as a biomarker of survival outcomes in gastric cancer patients.Two independent reviewers conducted a thorough search of PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases until April 17, 2024. Studies reporting the association between serum prealbumin level and survival outcomes and presented the multivariable-adjusted relative risks for gastric cancer patients were included. The pooled HR and 95% CI were used to assess the strength of the association.Twelve studies, with a total of 9,351 patients were included in the meta-analysis. The combined data showed that low serum prealbumin level was associated with shorter overall survival (HR 1.65; 95% CI 1.42-1.91) and disease-free survival (HR 1.39; 95% CI 1.14-1.70). Subgroup analysis showed that low serum prealbumin level significantly predicted poorer overall survival, regardless of patients’ age, sample sizes, cutoff value for prealbumin level, and follow-up time.Low serum prealbumin level is an independent prognostic biomarker for shorter survival outcomes in patients with gastric cancer. To further develop Liupao tea products and enhance their flavor, this study investigated the effects of different fermentation methods on the aroma quality of Liupao tea. The aroma quality of Liupao tea was comprehensively analyzed using HS-SPME in combination with GC-Q-TOF-MS, electronic nose, and sensory evaluations. Electronic nose detection showed that the aroma fingerprints of Liupao tea samples with different fermentation methods were different. Sulfides, alcohols, ketones, and methyls were the main aroma categories affecting the aroma of the four groups of Liupao tea samples. GC-Q-TOF-MS analysis revealed significant differences in the composition of aroma components among the four fermentation methods of Liupao tea (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the total amount of aroma compounds was found to be highest in the group subjected to hot fermentation combined with the inoculation of Monascus purpureus (DMl group). Based on the OPLS-DA model, candidate differential aroma components with VIP > 1 were identified, and characteristic aroma compounds were selected based on OAV > 10. The key characteristic aroma compounds shared by the four groups of samples were 1,2,3-Trimethoxybenzene with a stale aroma and nonanal with floral and fruity aromas. The best sensory evaluation results were obtained for the DMl group, and its key characteristic aroma compounds mainly included 1,2,3-Trimethoxybenzene, nonanal, and cedrol. The permeability coefficient of landslide mass, a key parameter in the study of reservoir landslides, is commonly obtained through in situ and laboratory tests; however, the tests are costly and subject to high variability, leading to potential biases. In this paper, a new method was proposed to inversely estimate the permeability coefficient of landslide layers using monitoring data of groundwater level (GWL). First, the landslide transient seepage simulation was conducted to generate sample data for permeability coefficients and GWL during a reservoir operation cycle. Second, using GWL data as input and permeability coefficient data as output, the least-square support vector machine (LSSVM) was trained with two optimization algorithms, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and the whale optimization algorithm (WOA), to construct the nonlinear mapping relationship between simulated GWL and permeability coefficients. Third, the accurate permeability coefficients for landslide seepage simulation were inverted or predicted based on the monitored GWL. Finally, using the inverted permeability coefficients for landslide seepage simulation, we compared simulation results with actual monitored GWL and achieved good consistency. In addition, this paper compared the inversion effects of three different algorithms: the standard LSSVM, PSO-LSSVM, and WOA-LSSVM. This study showed that these three algorithms had good nonlinear fitting effects in studying landslide seepage fields. Among them, using the inversion values from PSO-LSSVM for landslide seepage simulation resulted in the smallest relative error compared to actual monitoring data. Within a single reservoir operation cycle, the simulated water level changes were also largely consistent with the monitored water level changes. Background: Human toxocariasis is prevalent in many countries but this disease has been rarely reported from Vietnam. We aimed to investigate the clinical and laboratory findings and assess possible association between these findings in patients with toxocariasis in Vietnam. Methods: A prospectively study, between October 2017 and June 2019 was performed involving 120 toxocariasis patients at Medic Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The diagnosis of toxocariasis was established based on clinical, laboratory (eosinophilia, raised IgE concentration) and serological (positive Toxocara IgG ELISA test) evaluation as well as the exclusion of other helminthic coinfection. Results: The most frequently reported manifestation was of skin (n = 93, 77.5%), including urticarial (n= 69, 57.5%) followed by neurologic, gastrointestinal and pulmonary signs/symptoms. Hepatic involvement occurred in 8.3% of the patients. No significant relationship between clinical findings and laboratory parameters was found except the higher values of eosinophil count and IgE concentration among patients with liver involvement. Background and Objectives: Identification of pnemococcal serotypes and antimicrobial resistance provides helpful information for the use of suitable vaccines and antibiotics; however, very limited data is available on these issues in Vietnam. The present study aimed to find the serotype distribution and drug resistance patterns of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolated from unvaccinated children less than 5 years of age with pneumonia at a province in centre Vietnam. Materials and Methods: A total of 126 clinical pnemococcal strains isolated from unvaccinated children less than 5 years of age with pneumonia at the Nghe An province, Vietnam between Nov 2019 and Mar 2021. All strains were identified using conventional microbiological method, VITEK® 2 Compact system, specific PCR and sequencing. The serotypes and antimicrobial resistance patterns of pnemococcal strains were determined using the multiplex PCR assays and VITEK® 2 Compact system. Results: The results showed that, eight different pneumococcal serotypes were identified. The most common serotypes were 19F (67.46%), followed by 23F (10.32%), 19A (9.52%), 6A/B (3.17%), 15A (2.38%), 9V (3.17%), 11A (1.59%) and 14 (0.80%), respectively. More than half of the pneumococcal strains were non-susceptible to penicillin. The resistance rate to ceftriaxone and cefotaxime were 41.3% and 50.8%. The percentage of pneumococci strains resistant to clarithromycin, azithromycin, erythromycin, cotrimoxazole, tetracyclin, and clindamycin were more than 93% of all strains. All pneumococcal serotypes were highly resistant to clarithromycin, azithromycin, erythromycin, cotrimoxazole, and clindamycin. Conclusion: Our findings showed high antibiotic resistance rates of the strains causing pneumococcal pneumonia, mostly macrolide resistance, among unvaccinated children.
