Lentigo maligna (LM) is a melanocytic neoplasm that occurs on chronically sun-exposed skin commonly affectingmiddle-aged and elderly patients, which can progress to LM melanoma if left untreated or misdiagnosed. LM can be confused with other dermatologic conditions such as pigmented actinic keratosis, solar lentigo, and seborrheic keratosis. Therefore, clinicians should know the various clinical features that can distinguish LM from other differential diagnoses. Although multiple treatment modalities exist for LM, surgical excision remains the gold standard for the treatment of LM and results in an excellent prognosis for treated patients. Background: Exposure to ultraviolet, rays has increased due to ozone depletion due to global climate change. The model draws a good road map for evaluating the process by addressing the factors affecting children's sun protection behaviors. Objective or Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the sun protection behaviors of secondary school students in accordance with the transtheoretical model. The study is cross-sectional and descriptive. Methodology: The research was conducted in 12 public secondary schools affiliated with Y District Directorate of National Education. 1709 students have been included in the study. Results: As a result of the study, which aimed to evaluate the sun protection behaviors of the students according to the transtheoretical model, it was found that female students exhibited more sun protection behaviors by scoring higher in all scales and sub-dimensions compared to male students, those with better economic status had higher sunscreen use, and perception of harm, sunscreen, and hat use was higher as the number of sunburns increased, and younger students exhibited more protective behaviors. Conclusions: The study reveals that boys show sun protection behaviors less than girls. Therefore, it can be stated that male and older students are the priority group in the acquisition of sun protection behaviors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sunburn is caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun, resulting in redness of the skin as well as tenderness, swelling, and blistering issues. During the healing process, it can cause peeling, irritation, and some long-term effects, including premature aging, pigmentation, and a high risk of skin cancer. Rutin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, which could potentially reduce inflammation and soothe sunburned skin. The objective of the current proposal is to develop and create carbopol gel-encased glycerosomes for the treatment of sunburn. The Design of Expert (DoE) technique was used to optimize the proposed formulation and was subjected to various characterization parameters such as nanovesicles size, polydispersity index (PDI), surface charge, entrapment efficiency (EE), and surface morphology. The optimized rutin-loaded glycerosomes (opt-RUT-loaded-GMs) were further characterised for drug release, 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). The formulation showed sustained release, greater permeation into the skin, and good antioxidant activity. The dermatokinetic study of opt-RUT-loaded-GMs confirms that the Rutin hydrate had better retention in the epidermis as compared to the dermis, owing to its potential for long lasting protection after topical application. It was observed that the prepared formulation was stable, highly safe, and had good sun protection factor (SPF) values that could be used as a suitable option for topical drug administration to maximize the therapeutic efficacy of the drugs. Background: Frequent and indiscriminate sun exposure has determined an increase in skin cancer rates globally. In Venezuela, reports evaluating sun exposure practices and the use of photoprotection measures are limited. Objective: To determine sun exposure habits, photoprotection practices and their association with the level of knowledge and attitudes, in individuals who perform outdoor exercises in the Venezuelan Andean egion, throughout 2020. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study. Using a digital survey, demographic data, skin phototype, history of sunburn, sun exposure habits, photoprotection practices, perceptions and knowledge were evaluated. Results: The sample consisted of 94 participants. Women use sunscreen more often than men, and they make a better use of it. 48.9% have suffered on average about 1 to 10 burns due to outdoor exercises. 70.2% practice physical activities 3 to 5 days per week. 59.2% do not use sunscreen on cloudy days. There was a high risk (13.8%) and a very high risk (4.3%) of developing future melanoma. Conclusions: The population evaluated has an acceptable level of knowledge about photoprotection. They make frequent but inappropriate use of the sunscreen, and have sun exposure habits that imply considerable doses of ultraviolet radiation; therefore, it is necessary to implement awareness campaigns that promote the adoption of healthy sun exposure habits.

Reproducibly comparing the heat stress response of grapevine berries from different cultivars in the field is often limited by weather conditions during the growing season. This work presents a mobile heating device capable of controlled heat-stress induction on grapevine berries. The heater consisted of six 150 W infrared lamps mounted in a profile frame. The heating power of the lamps could be set individually by a control unit consisting of a single board computer and six temperature sensors positioned as desired. The heat energy applied to individual berries within a cluster decreases by the squared distance to the heat source, enabling the establishment of temperature profiles within individual clusters. Infrared thermography of the fruit surface and measurements conducted with a thermocouple inserted at the epidermis level showed comparable temperatures. Berries treated with high temperatures were sampled according to their visual appearance (i.e., sunburn symptoms). Only symptomatic berries showed a significant increase in electrolyte leakage, indicating cell damage. In a field experiment, the induction of sunburn necrosis symptoms with the presented device was used to predict a Lethal Dose (LD50) for sunburn necrosis symptoms of the Vitis vinifera L. cultivars Bacchus and Silvaner. The LD50 of Bacchus, known as a heat-sensitive cultivar, was about 3.2 °C lower than that of Silvaner. The presented device offers possibilities for a wide range of applications and the induction of precise temperature dynamics in the context of heat stress on fleshy fruit.

Sunlight is required for vitamin D synthesis but is also responsible for various adverse effects on human skin, including photoaging, sunburn, and skin cancer. To avoid this, regular use of sunscreens is recommended. The aim of the study was to evaluate the knowledge of a subset of our local population about exposure to sun and assess the attitude about the importance of sunscreen usage. This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted at the dermatology outpatient clinic using a predesigned questionnaire filled by the participants. A total of 200 patients were selected, out of which 135 were females and 65 were males.
