Women’s involvement in socio-political life is a desideratum for the progress of not only the women folk but also the development of the nation as a whole. During ancient and medieval times, women from orthodox families actively participated in social activities, but their overall position and status gradually deteriorated. The Modern era meant for women ushered in during the dawn of the 19th century when social reformers paid special attention to enhance the social status of women. For instance, the promulgation of the Widow Remarriage Act, implementation of the Civil Marriage Act 1872 mentions a few of them. Ever since the formation of the Indian National Congress, several remarkable changes took place in the socio-political status.Moreover, women franchise induced their effective participation in the Freedom Movement of India. They were accorded equal political status on par with men only after independence, which has been enshrined and enumerated in the provisions of fundamental rights of the Indian constitution. In the new millennium, there has been constant demand to accord 33 percentages of reservations to enhance the status of women in the political arena as well as to increase their social statues. This paper attempts to indicate the socio-political status of women over the period in the Indian context during the Pre and Post Independent India.

Introduction Aminoglycosides are formidable broad-spectrum antibiotics used in clinical settings; woefully their usage has been reduced by the emergence and distribution of resistance mainly due to aminoglycoside modifying enzymes (AME).Purpose This study was performed to determine the diverse prevalence of AME and their pattern of occurrence in the clinical isolates of gram-negative bacteria. This study also aimed to detect the presence of AMEs that are prevalent in gram-positive bacteria, among gram negatives.Materials and Methods A total number of 386 clinical isolates were included in this study. Polymerase chain reaction revealed the prevalence rate of AMEs screened [aac(6′)-lb, aac(3′)-I, aac(3′)-II, aac(3′)-VI, ant(2′)-I, ant(4′)-IIb, aac(3′)-III, aac(3′)-IV, aph(2′)-Ib, aph(2′)-Ic, aph(2′)-Id, aac (6′)-Ie- aph(2′)-Ia, and aph(3′)-IIIa]. Conjugation experiment was performed for the clinical isolates which harbored any one of the AME which was prevalent in gram-positive bacteria [aph(3′)-IIIa, aac(6′)-Ie-aph(2′)-Ia].Results aac(6′)-lb is the most prevalent AME, followed by aac(3′)-I, aph(3′)-VI, aac(3′)-VI, and aac(3′)-II. The AMEs such as ant (2′)-I, ant(4′)-IIb, aac(3′)-III, aac(3′)-IV, aph(2′)-Ib, aph(2′)-Ic, and aph(2′)-Id were not established in our study isolates. The rate of prevalence of aph(3′)-IIIa, aac(6′)-Ie-aph(2′)-Ia—the AMEs encountered in gram-positive and their co-existence was 19.68% and the conjugation experiment revealed their transfer via plasmids.Conclusion This is the first report from India revealing the presence and prevalence of AMEs which are often encountered among gram-positive bacteria in gram negatives and their presence on conjugative plasmids.

Purpose: The clinical profile and factors affecting outcomes in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) from adequately sample-sized Indian studies are still lacking. We aimed to investigate the clinical profile, treatment pattern, outcomes; and to assess factors affecting non-recovery in ARDS patients. Patients and methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted among adult ARDS patients admitted during five year period (January 2014–December 2018) in a South Indian tertiary care setting. The relevant data were collected from the medical records to the data collection form. The univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify the predictors of outcomes using SPSS v20. Results: A total of 857 participants including 496 males and 361 females with a mean age of 46.86 ± 15.81 years were included in this study. Fever (70.9%), crepitation (58.3%), breathlessness (56.9%), and cough (45%) were the major clinical presentation. Hypertension (25.2%), kidney disease (23.8%), and diabetes (22.3%) were the major comorbidities; and sepsis (37.6%), pneumonia (33.3%), and septic shock (27.5%) were the major etiological factors observed. Antibiotics and steroids were administered to 97.9% and 52.3% of the population, respectively. The recovery rate was 47.49%. The patients with scrub typhus, dengue, pancreatitis, and oxygen supplementation had significantly lower mortality. The factors such as advanced age, sepsis, septic shock, liver diseases, and ventilation requirements were observed to be the independent predictors of non-recovery in ARDS patients. Conclusion: A comparable recovery rate was observed in our population. Advanced age, sepsis, septic shock, liver diseases, and ventilation requirements were the independent predictors of non-recovery.

The Endometriosis is caused by the endometriotic tissue that streaks the uterus from outside. A total of 6% of women under child bearing age is affected by the endometriosis disorder. The presence of the tissue can be identified though MRI, Transvaginal Ultra Sound Scan (TVUS), Laparoscopic images and pathological slides. Image based applications are processed using Image Pre-processing, Image Segmentation, Image Enhancement and Feature Extraction techniques. The Open Computer Vision (Open CV) is used to extract the features from Laparoscopic Endometriosis Images (LPI). This paper proposed a method to identify the endometriotic tissue by using the LPI images. The proposed method uses several image processing techniques of OpenCV includes Adaptive Threshold, Contour Mask to extract the lesion area from the Laparoscopic images. The designed algorithm has been experimented and the results yielded 53.5 % mean value intensity in identifying the lesion area.

Endometriosis is a gynecological disorder which occurs in the age group of 15-45 years. In normal cases endometrial tissue is found inside the lining of uterus but in case f endometrium, tissue is found outside the uterus. In advanced cases these tissues may line other organs such as Kidneys, Pancreas, Liver and Intestines which is called as Deep endometriosis. Endometriosis is both symptomatic and asymptomatic. The symptoms of endometriosis is similar to other symptoms such as pelvic pain, inflammatory disease etc. Unfortunately it can be diagnosed only through laparoscopic procedures. The Laparoscopic procedures causes unrepairable wound, health challenges to the women. This paper surveys various methodologies of identifying the presence of endometriosis through the medical images using machine learning techniques includes “ Logistic Regression, Convolutional Neural network, Artificial Neural Network, Neural Network, Support Vector Machines(SVM), Naive Bayes, Decision Tree” etc.. This survey illustrated the pros and cons of the various methods.

Background: Treatment with N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) in rodenticide poisoning has not been well established due to mixed study results and insufficient evidence. This review aimed to summarize the clinical benefits of NAC in the management of rodenticide poisoning. Method: This review follows the PICOS framework and the PRISMA guidelines. Pub- Med/MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Cochrane library were searched to identify the published literature from inception to September 2020, and a reference search was performed for additional relevant studies. The English language studies addressing the use of NAC in rodenticide poisoning were considered for the review. We considered all experimental and observational studies due to the insufficient number of interventional studies. Results: Ten studies (two RCTs, four observational, and four descriptive) out of 2,178 studies with 492 participants were considered for the review. Only six studies (two RCTs, one prospective, and three retrospective studies) reported recovery and mortality. Pooled results of RCTs (n=2) showed a significant recovery rate (Odds Ratio [OR]: 3.97; 95% Confidence Interval [CI]:1.69-9.30), whereas summary estimates of prospective and retrospective studies recorded a non-significant effect. Metaanalysis of RCTs (OR: 0.25; 95% CI: 0.11-0.59; n=2) and retrospective studies (OR: 0.34; 95% CI: 0.15-0.78; n=3) showed a significant reduction in mortality, whereas pooled analysis of prospective studies recorded a non-significant effect. A significant reduction in intubation or ventilation (OR: 0.25; 95% CI: 0.11-0.60; 2 RCTs) and a non-significant (P=0.41) difference in duration of hospitalization was observed with NAC when compared to the non-NAC treated group. The quality of the included studies appeared to be moderate to high. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that NAC showed better survival and lower mortality rate when compared to non-NAC treated group; hence NAC can be considered for the management of rodenticide poisoning. Automotive heat removal levels are of high importance for maximizing fuel consumption. Current radiator designs are constrained by air-side impedance, and a large front field must meet the cooling requirements. The enormous demand for powerful engines in smaller hood areas has caused a lack of heat dissipation in the vehicle radiators. As a prediction, exceptional radiators are modest enough to understand coolness and demonstrate great sensitivity to cooling capacity. The working parameters of the nano-coated tubes are studied using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Taguchi methods in this article. The CFD and Taguchi methods are used for the design of experiments to analyse the impact of nano-coated radiator parameters and the parameters having a significant impact on the efficiency of the radiator. The CFD and Taguchi methodology studies show that all of the above-mentioned parameters contribute equally to the rate of heat transfer, effectiveness, and overall heat transfer coefficient of the nanocoated radiator tubes. Experimental findings are examined to assess the adequacy of the proposed method. In this study, the coolant fluid was transmitted at three different mass flow rates, at three different coating thicknesses, and coated on the top surface of the radiator tubes. Thermal analysis is performed for three temperatures as heat input conditioning for CFD. The most important parameter for nanocoated radiator tubes is the orthogonal array, followed by the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNRA) and the variance analysis (ANOVA). A proper orthogonal array is then selected and tests are carried out. The findings of ANOVA showed 95% confidence and were confirmed in the most significant parameters. The optimal values of the parameters are obtained with the help of the graphs.

Teaching is the creative process of imparting knowledge and skills. Data and information are required to substantiate the teaching process and the effectiveness depends on the individual’s creativity. The technological development in information sharing has created tremendous changes in education. The ability to search any specific information with less time, customized reproducibility of information, significant reduction in space requirement for carrying information and realistic audio visual form of information has grounded a strong foundation for modern education process. The arrival of social network sites which incorporate all above mentioned features has further simplified the teaching process. The present article deals with the role of social media in facilitating improved access to information.
