Genetic conditions affect people throughout their entire lifespan; however, many clinical geneticists focus on the care of pediatric individuals. We analyzed the medical literature and related resources to help assess to what extent adults with genetic diseases were represented. This included general literature searches of PubMed (from 2001 through 2022), specific databases (the FDA orphan drug list and the Clinical Genomic Database) related to management and direct treatment of genetic conditions, and textbooks and morphology guides relevant to the diagnosis of genetic conditions. In the field of genetics/genomics in general, we overall detected a statistically significant emphasis on pediatric populations in the medical literature compared to select other disciplines and compared with the global population distribution. Clinical genetics articles about adults tended to focus on younger adult ages. In clinical genetics, management and treatments, as well as illustrations in several educational/diagnostic resources tended to focus on pediatric populations.

Elexacaftor–tezacaftor–ivacaftor has been shown to be safe and efficacious in people with cystic fibrosis and at least one F508delallele. Our aim was to identify a novel cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulator combination capable of further increasing CFTR-mediated chloride transport, with the potential for once-daily dosing.

Active Minds provides resources and support to local chapters, which can be customized to fit the interests and needs of the members and the school. Research has shown that Active Minds improves the mental health climate and saves lives. School psychologists can play a crucial role in establishing and advising Active Minds chapters, which not only benefit the school community but also expose students to the field of school psychology. AbstractA high-level design study for a new experimental tokamak shows that advances in fusion science and engineering can be leveraged to narrow the gaps in energy confinement and exhaust power handling that remain between present devices and a future fusion pilot plant (FPP). This potential new U.S. facility, an Exhaust and Confinement Integration Tokamak Experiment (EXCITE), will access an operational space close to the projected FPP performance regime via a compact, high-field, high-power-density approach that utilizes advanced tokamak scenarios and high-temperature superconductor magnets. Full-device optimization via system code calculations, physics-based core-edge modeling, plasma control simulations, and finite element structural and thermal analysis has converged on a  T,  MA,  m, , D-D tokamak with strong plasma shaping, long-legged divertors, and 50 MW of auxiliary power. Such a device will match several absolute FPP parameters: plasma pressure, exhaust heat flux, and toroidal magnetic field. It will also narrow or close the gap in key dimensionless parameters: toroidal beta, bootstrap fraction, collisionality, and edge neutral opacity. Integrated neutron shielding preserves personnel access by limiting nuclear activation and maximizes experimental run time by reducing site radiation. In addition to design study results and optimization details, parameter sensitivities and uncertainties are also discussed.

The limiting factor towards the utilization of Mg and its alloys especially in aqueous environment is their low corrosion resistance occasioned by their high chemical reactivity and high electron negative potential. The corrosion inhibitor technology is one of the effective corrosion mitigation approaches. In this review, inorganic, organic (surfactants, ionic liquids, and Schiff bases), and polymeric substances reported as corrosion inhibitors for Mg and its alloys are discussed. Smart coatings containing corrosion inhibitors for Mg and its alloys are also highlighted. The drawbacks on current researches involving corrosion inhibitors for Mg and its alloys have been identified and the path to chart in future researches in this area recommended.
