Students with disabilities continue to perform below peers without disabilities in writing. To address the need for improving written expression for students with learning differences, schools are implementing instructional strategies. This study investigated teacher perceptions of a four-year, schoolwide, K-12 implementation of strategic instruction model (SIM) learning strategies addressing written expression. A survey (n = 22) and semistructured interviews (n = 16) were administered to examine the perceptions of educators on schoolwide supports to strengthen writing skills across all grades and content areas. The analysis of these data can provide insight to faculty knowledge and attitudes toward implementation of SIM as well as guidance to inform change and implementation practices in providing targeted intervention in writing to address K-12 goals for students with various learning differences.

Statistics and data science are especially collaborative disciplines that typically require practitioners to interact with many different people or groups. Consequently, interdisciplinary collaboration skills are part of the personal and professional skills essential for success as an applied statistician or data scientist. These skills are learnable and teachable, and learning and improving collaboration skills provides a way to enhance one's practice of statistics and data science. To help individuals learn these skills and organizations to teach them, we have developed a framework covering five essential components of statistical collaboration: Attitude, Structure, Content, Communication, and Relationship. We call this the ASCCR Frame. This framework can be incorporated into formal training programs in the classroom or on the job and can also be used by individuals through self-study. We show how this framework can be applied specifically to statisticians and data scientists to improve their collaboration skills and their interdisciplinary impact. We believe that the ASCCR Frame can help organize and stimulate research and teaching in interdisciplinary collaboration and call on individuals and organizations to begin generating evidence regarding its effectiveness.

Counseling Center Assessment of Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS-34) scores were studied for longitudinal bias-free construct evidence. A sample of 4,696 university students referred to a university counseling center were assessed twice for evidence of longitudinal measurement invariance. Adequate or marginal longitudinal measurement invariance (LMI) of all subscales except for Eating Concerns was confirmed. Coefficients alpha and omega suggested that the internal consistencies for both initial and subsequent administrations were largely adequate for screening level test scores (≥.80), except for the Hostility and Alcohol Use subscales (≥.73). Second session effect sizes (Cohen's d) were small but detectable and statistically significant for most subscales (-0.02–.17). Counselors can use most CCAPS-34 subscale scores for tracking psychological symptoms and constructs over time with confidence. The Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Academic Concerns, and Alcohol Use subscales can be used with great confidence. Some confidence is warranted from the LMI evidence when using the Depression and Hostility subscales, but caution in warranted when using the Eating Concerns subscale. Longitudinal measurement invariance (LMI) helps test users understand whether different groups view the construct being measured as equivalent over time. Objectives: To pilot and assess the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of the Rural Adult and Youth Sun (RAYS) protection program, a multilevel skin cancer preventive intervention for young children living in rural U.S. communities, delivered through community-organized team sports. Method: Three rural counties inUtah participated with two receiving the intervention and the third serving as a control. Youth sports leagues were recruited through recreation departments and the study took place from May through October 2021. Intervention leagues received sun protection supplies for players and coaches, educational materials for parents, and coaches were offered trainingon skincancerand sun protection behaviors. Results: TheRAYS program is both feasible to deliver and acceptable to coaches, parents, and players. The intervention also demonstrates beneficial preliminary effects on components of observed child sun-protective behaviors, coach sun protection behaviors, knowledge of skin cancer prevention recommendations, and self-efficacy in skin cancer prevention. Conclusions: Multilevel interventions for skin cancer prevention among young children can be successfully delivered through community organizations and their settings. A priority moving forward is the identification of ways to optimize delivery of such programs to positively influence skin cancer preventive behaviors among children living in diverse rural areas. Aim: To evaluate the impact of usual care plus a fundamental nursing care guideline compared to usual care only for patients in hospital with COVID‐19 on patient experience, care quality, functional ability, treatment outcomes, nurses' moral distress, patient health‐related quality of life and cost‐effectiveness. Design: Parallel two‐arm, cluster‐level randomized controlled trial. Methods: Between 18th January and 20th December 2021, we recruited (i) adults aged 18 years and over with COVID‐19, excluding those invasively ventilated, admitted for at least three days or nights in UK Hospital Trusts; (ii) nurses caring for them. We randomly assigned hospitals to use a fundamental nursing care guideline and usual care or usual care only. Our patient‐reported co‐primary outcomes were the Relational Aspects of Care Questionnaire and four scales from the Quality from the Patient Perspective Questionnaire. We undertook intention‐to‐treat analyses. Results: We randomized 15 clusters and recruited 581 patient and 418 nurse participants. Primary outcome data were available for 570–572 (98.1%–98.5%) patient participants in 14 clusters. We found no evidence of between‐group differences on any patient, nurse or economic outcomes. We found between‐group differences over time, in favour of the intervention, for three of our five co‐primary outcomes, and a significant interaction on one primary patient outcome for ethnicity (white British vs. other) and allocated group in favour of the intervention for the 'other' ethnicity subgroup. Conclusion: We did not detect an overall difference in patient experience for a fundamental nursing care guideline compared to usual care. We have indications the guideline may have aided sustaining good practice over time and had a more positive impact on non‐white British patients' experience of care. Implications for the Profession and/or Patient Care: We cannot recommend the wholescale implementation of our guideline into routine nursing practice. Further intervention development, feasibility, pilot and evaluation studies are required. Impact: Fundamental nursing care drives patient experience but is severely impacted in pandemics. Our guideline was not superior to usual care, albeit it may sustain good practice and have a positive impact on non‐white British patients' experience of care. Reporting Method: CONSORT and CONSERVE. Candida auris is a multidrug-resistant fungal pathogen that is associated with nosocomial outbreaks in patients with extensive health care exposure and treatment outside the United States. The Ohio Department of Health recommends C auris screening in high-risk patients. However, this can be operationally difficult for many health care facilities. This report describes a C auris and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales inpatient screening program done in collaboration with state public health. • Routine screening for C. auris is a logistic burden for some health care facilities. • We identified many challenges to routine screening via public health laboratories. • Onsite testing can facilitate a robust admission screening program. © 2015 Springer Science+Business Media New York The focus of this special issue is relative deprivation (RD): the judgment that one or one’s group is worse off compared to some standard accompanied by feelings of anger and resentment. This collection of seven papers demonstrates the range of the new thinking and research about RD, and they include data from an impressive variety of participants—including Canadians (both French- and English-speakers), Dutch, the Maoris of New Zealand, Mongols, Singaporeans, and South Africans (both Blacks and Whites). These seven papers show that if RD, and its counterpart, relative gratification, are defined carefully, at the right level of analysis and employed within larger theoretical models, the concept offers invaluable insight to how people respond to often dramatic changes in their objective circumstances.
