Transition metal selenides have high theoretical capacities, making them attractive candidates for energy storage applications. Here, using the microwave-absorbing properties of the materials, we designed a simple and efficient microwave-assisted synthesis method to produce a composite made of nanospheres Ni0.5Co0.5Se2 (NCSe) and highly conductive, stable Ti3C2Tx MXene. The Ni0.5Co0.5Se2/Ti3C2Tx composites are characterized via scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, cyclic voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The findings indicate that 3D Ni0.5Co0.5Se2 bimetallic selenide nanospheres were uniformly loaded within the few-layer Ti3C2Tx MXene wrapper in a short period. The optimal NCSe/Ti3C2Tx−2 electrode can demonstrate a specific capacitance of 752.4 F g–1 at 1 A g–1. Furthermore, the asymmetric supercapacitor combined with activated carbon maintains a capacitance retention of 110% even after 5000 cycles. The method of directly growing active substances on few-layer Ti3C2Tx MXene will provide inspiration for the manufacture of high-pseudocapacitance supercapacitors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of efficient catalysts with visible light response for the removal of pollutants in an aqueous environment has been a hotspot in the field of photocatalysis research. A Zn0.5Cd0.5S (ZCS) nanoparticle/Bi4O5Br2 ultra-thin nanosheet heterojunction was constructed by ultrasound-assisted solvothermal method. The morphology, structure, and optoelectronic properties of the composite were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra. Under simulated visible light illumination, the photocatalytic performance was evaluated through degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride. Results show that the degradation effect by the optimum ZCS/Bi4O5Br2 catalyst is superior to pure materials with the kinetic constant that is 1.7 and 9.6 times higher than those of Bi4O5Br2 and ZCS, and also has better stability and reusability. Trapping experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance tests find that free radicals in the photocatalytic system are superoxide radicals and holes. Periplaneta americana , one of the most widely distributed insects all over the world, can survive and reproduce in harsh environment which may be closely related to the critical roles of intestinal microorganisms in its multiple physiological functions. However, the composition and structure of gut microbiota throughout different life stages and its effects on the strong resilient and environmental adaptability of P. americana remain unclear. In this study, the gut microbiota across life stages including ootheca (embryos), nymph and adult of P. americana were investigated by 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing. Multivariate statistical analysis showed the richness and diversity of bacterial communities were significantly different among ootheca, nymph and adult stage of P. americana. Taxonomic analysis showed Blattabacterium was the dominant genus in bacterial community of ootheca while the nutrient absorption-related genera including Christensenellaceae and Ruminococcaceae showed high relative abundance in nymph samples. Moreover, functional prediction analysis showed the metabolic categories in ootheca might have more influence on the basic life activities of the host than improved production and viability, while it was more associated to the society activities, reproduction and development of host in nymph and adult. It was suggested that the gut microbiota in each life stage might meet the requirements for environmental adaptability and survival of P. americana via transforming the composition and structure with specific metabolic capabilities. The development of new building materials is a crucial engine for promoting the development of green energy efficient buildings. In this paper, based on the excellent properties of light guiding of resin materials, a new type of resin translucent mortar-based concrete (RTMC) was researched; meanwhile, transmittance properties, mechanical properties, and thermal performance were studied, respectively. The results showed that the resin material possessed excellent light transmittance within the thickness of 100 mm, which can be as high as 93%. Moreover, when the area ratio was within 5%, the compressive strength of RTMC was close to that of plain concrete. Besides, RTMC had excellent thermal performance that the thermal conductivity of RTCM was 0.3815 w/(m·K), which was 60% lower than 0.89 w/(m·K) of plain concrete.
