The dogmatic Constitution Dei Verbum is seen by many commentators as the turning point of Vatican II. Its solemn promulgation in November 18th, 1965 by Pope Paul VI brought finally to conclusion the many debates, but also the fruitful collaboration between pastors and theologians. This paper examines in particular the contribution of Joseph Ratzinger to the early debate of Dei Verbum. While many theologians have provided their critical assessments of the text de fontibus revelationis at the request of ecclesiastics, Ratzinger's role and inputs during this early discussion of the document were the outcome of his habilitation on Bonaventure's conception of revelation and, perhaps more importantly, a result of his liaison with the influential Archbishop of Cologne Cardinal Josef Frings. La Costituzione dogmatica Dei Verbum è vista da molti commentatori come il punto di svolta del Concilio Vaticano II. La sua promulgazione solenne, il 18 Novembre 1965, ad opera di Papa Paolo VI, portò a conclusione i numerosi dibattiti, ma anche la proficua collaborazione, tra pastori e teologi. Questo articolo esamina in particolare il contributo di Joseph Ratzinger al dibattito iniziale sulla Dei Verbum. Mentre molti teologi hanno fornito le loro valutazioni critiche sul testo de fontibus revelationis alla richiesta dei padri conciliari, il ruolo e i contributi di Ratzinger durante la discussione iniziale del documento, hanno avuto come risultato la sua legittimazione della concezione di Bonaventura sulla rivelazione e come conseguenza, probabilmente ancora più importante del precedente, il legame con l'influente arcivescovo di Colonia, il cardinale Josef Frings.

El presente artículo estudia el descenso de Cristo a los infiernos desde dos relatos: el de 1ª de Pedro 3:18 (también llamado descenso canónico) y del Evangelio de Nicodemo (en sus versiones latina y griega). A través del análisis de ambos textos se establecen varios aspectos que tienen que ver con el tema del infierno-su conceptualización y evolución-, la comparación entre Jesús y Odiseo, la estructura del texto en el texto (gracias al tópico del manuscrito hallado), entre otros. El abordaje de estos elementos permitirá vislumbrar relaciones entre literatura, teología y semiótica, así como una aproximación al significado del descenso de Cristo a un espacio maldito, teñido de confusión y fatalismo. Abstract This article studies the scene on which Christ descended to hell (or abyss) based on two stories: 1st Peter 3:18 (also known as canonical descending) and the Nicodemus Gospel (latin and greek versions). Through the analysis of both texts many aspects emerge; those topics are related with the hell and its conceptualization, the comparison between Jesus and Odysseus, the text in the text structure (the found manuscript topic), and others. This background will show relations between literature, theology and semiotics, and at the same time, will explore an approximation to the meaning of the descensus of Christ to a cursed space, dyed of confussion and fatalism.Key words Christ`s descending, hell, text in the text, symbols.

Recenzijoje aptariama Algimanto Bučio studija „Seniausioji lietuvių literatūra. Mindaugo epocha“, kurioje nauju rakursu siekiama pažvelgti į XIII a. sakralinius tekstus, priklausančius krikščionims stačiatikiams ir juose ieškoti seniausios lietuvių literatūros pradžios. Pagrindinio klausimo kėlimas – ar turime seniausiąją lietuvių literatūrą, datuojamą XIII a. – tekstų vertimai (iš senosios slavų kalbos), tekstų rekonstrukcijos ir interpretacijos, nuorodos į senosios lietuvių raštijos tyrinėtojus (J.Lebedį ir A. Jovaišą), taip pat ir į slavistiką, sudaro studijos filologinį pamatą, turintį bendrumų su kitomis humanistikos sritimis (istorija, religijotyra, mentaliteto istorija). Pasakojimo sklaida labiau romaninė, negu akademinė. Pagrindinis studijos bruožas – seniausios lietuvių raštijos lauko išplėtimas, į kurį Bučys įtraukia ir „Sovijaus mito“ prierašą – neigiamai tekstą vertinančią vienuolio raštininko reakciją, Gedimino laiškus, Mindaugo raštus, nežinomo autoriaus „Dievo Išrinktojo Vaišvilko gyvenimą“. Bučio studijoje vis grįžtama prie senovinės Baltijos kraštų tikybos. Naujas atvartas aptariamame veikale – emigracijos sąvokos ir jos ankstyviausio laiko suaktualinimas, pirmųjų lietuvių kilmės šventųjų pasirodymas. Autorius pagrįstai kvestionuoja Lietuvos istoriografijoje įsigalėjusią tradiciją analizuoti viduramžių pagonybės ir krikščionybės priešpriešą monoparadigmiškai, laikantis išankstinio neigiamo požiūrio į pagonybę ir nenurodant dviejų kelių į anuometinį krikščionijos pasaulį. Pradėjus Mindaugu ir jo epocha, knyga baigiama sociokultūrine dabarties interpretacija. The review discusses the study “Seniausioji Lietuvių Literatūra. Mindaugo Epocha” of Algimantas Bučys, which seeks to overview sacral texts of Christian Orthodoxies of the 13th century from a new perspective, and to find the origins of the ancient Lithuanian literature therein. The philological foundation of the study, which has common aspects with other fields of humanities (history, religious studies, history of mentality), is the main question “were there any Lithuanian literature dated to the 13th c.”, also translations of texts (from ancient Slavonic), reconstruction and interpretations of texts, references to the explorers of ancient Lithuanian writing (J. Lebedys and A. Jovaiša), and references to Slavonic issues. The development of the story is more like that of a novel rather than the academic style. The key feature of the study – expansion of the ancient Lithuanian writing sphere, which included postscript of “Sovijaus Mitas” by Bučys – a negative reaction of a monk-writer, letters of Gediminas, letters of Mindaugas, and a work of unknown author “Dievo Išrinktojo Vaišvilko gyvenimas”. In Bučys study steps back to ancient religion of the Baltic regions are taken over and over. New page in the discussed study – topicality of the concept of emigration and its earliest period, the appearance of first saints of Lithuanian origin. The author reasonably questions the tradition to analyse antithesis of Paganism of the Middle Ages and the Christianity in monoparadigmic method, which is established in Lithuanian historiography, holding a predetermined negative opinion to Paganism and not mentioning two ways to the world of Christianity of that time. Beginning with Mindaugas and his era, the book is finished by interpretation of contemporary socio-culture.

A presença da Bíblia na sociedade, na cultura e na língua portuguesas confunde-se com a própria identidade da nação. Todavia, a consolidação dessa presença é bastante irregular e muito pouco uniforme ao longo do tempo relativamente aos canais e suportes utilizados. Aires Nascimento resume bem este paradoxo ao afirmar que “[…] é tardia a tradução portuguesa do texto bíblico, mas nem por isso a Bíblia está ausente”. 1 Neste sentido, a Sociedade Bíblica acaba por desempenhar um papel absolutamente inovador contribuindo para o estabelecimento definitivo de estruturas próprias de divulgação bíblica que só se viriam a desenvolver noutros contextos na segunda metade do século XX. 2 Embora a designação, o conceito e mesmo muitos dos conteúdos bíblicos estejam profundamente enraizados na sociedade portuguesa, com expressões culturais muito fortes – na pintura, na escultura, na arquitectura, na literatura, na dramaturgia – a presença da Bíblia tout court acaba por ser muito recente. Por razões conómicas, culturais e, fundamentalmente,religiosas a sua divulgação com algum tipo de expressão confunde-se no tempo com a história da Sociedade Bíblica no país e, de certo modo, com a política de distribuição do livro nos últimos 200 anos.

Partindo de alguns dos mais importantes estudos exegético-interpretativos realizados por Erik Peterson (1890-1960), o presente artigo pretende sobretudo demonstrar a importância que o tema do Martírio tem no âmbito tanto da Teologia neo-testamentária como da história da Igreja. Mostra-se, assim, a importância de um texto como Mateus 10, aí onde se narra os termos em que Jesus envia os Apóstolos, e isso para mostrar como, na Igreja, o martírio brota simplesmente do facto de a Mensagem evangélica não se dirigir a uma humanidade abstracta ou considerada de forma neutral, mas, pelo contrário, antes se verifica que o Apóstolo é, por definição, enviado a anunciar o Evangelho do Reino de Deus mesmo em situações em que as estruturas sociais ou as pessoas individuais não estejam dispostas a, sem mais, receber o Kerygma. Daí, por exemplo, a importância de se reconhecer que os Apóstolos são enviados “como ovelhas para o meio de lobos” e, não menos, como, bem feitas as contas, estes sempre tendem a ser mais do que aquelas. Mostra-se também, nomeadamente a partir de uma breve leitura do Livro do Apocalipse, que num tempo, como o nosso, em que o mistério da iniquidade não cessa de se manifestar, nomeadamente mediante a ausência na sociedade humana de uma efectiva vigência da Lei de Deus, a condição de ser chamado a dar testemunho é, por definição, própria a todas as pessoas que, pelo Baptismo, se encontram realmente incorporadas no Mistério de Cristo. Em suma, o artigo mostra como a vida da Igreja está destinada a ser uma vida vivida no contexto da Grande Tribulação e como, assim, até ao fim, tem de permanecer. Acima de tudo, porém,evidencia-se que uma vida de testemunho só pode ser aquela a que, plenamente, se aplicam as Bem aventuranças proclamadas no Sermão da Montanha, pois a Felicidade de que os Evangelhos nos falam é, no final de contas, sempre aquela que nada melhor ilustra do que o testemunho dos Mártires.

O uso dos textos sagrados em Ensino Religioso pode nos levar às armadilhas das defesas de doutrinas, teologias conservadoras e, sobretudo, reduzir a análise do fenômeno religioso a uma leitura alheia às questões religiosas e suas interfaces na sociedade ou numa leitura completamente prisioneira dos interesses institucionais. Partimos do princípio que a disciplina de Ensino Religioso deve tratar do fenômeno religioso em sua amplitude e assim assumir um caráter pluralista. Nesta perspectiva haveria de considerarmos a hermenêutica uma ferramenta primordial para não cairmos nestas armadilhas e caminhar na direção da construção de uma disciplina que se assuma dialógica e autêntica.

In this essay a hermeneutic model of the higher level understanding during on-line ritual reading by devotees of their respective sacred literatures is proposed, using the instruments provided by cognitive sciences. The way a devotee reads a sacred text differs from the way he or she would read a common piece of literature or how a lay person might read the same sacred text. After providing an overview of metaphor, anthropomorphism, and the “religious brain”, it is suggested how devotee-readers might make sense of a religious text and why it should be so important for their own personal everyday life. Universals are implicated in this genre of literature and the way it is interpreted.
