One of the main components of sustainable agricultural strategies in crop production is substitution of chemical fertilizers with alternatives. This study aimed to examine the effects of partial replacement of mineral fertilizers with bio-stimulants (yeast and/or moringa leaves extract). Field experiment was conducted during two successive seasons 2018/2019 and 2019/2020. The fertilization treatments were distributed in a factorial design. Treatments included 75%, 50% or 0% NPK combined with yeast, moringa extract, or their combination in comparison with control treatment (100% NPK). The partial substitution of mineral fertilizers with yeast and/or moringa extract had significant impacts on growth, yield and quality components. Decreasing NPK level significant decreased growth and yield components of chia plants, except for 75% NPK combined with yeast and/or moringa. In contrast, decreasing NPK level significantly increased the chemical and quality components of chia. Treating with 75% NPK combined with yeast and/or moringa gave the highest micronutrients and fatty acid content. GC analysis showed definition of nine main components, and the major components were linolenic and linoleic acids. Linolenic acid increased with decreasing NPK, and the highest values obtained with bio-stimulant treatments with zero % NPK. The results of this study recommended that partial substitution of 25% of mineral fertilizers with bio-stimulants (yeast and/or moringa) is the best alternative not only for maintaining the growth and yield component, but also improving the quality of chia plants.

Abstract Background Free flap reconstruction for head and neck cancer is associated with a high risk of perioperative complications. One of the modifiable risk factors associated with perioperative morbidity is intraoperative hypotension (IOH). The main aim of this pilot study is to determine if the intraoperative use of goal‐directed hemodynamic therapy (GDHT) is associated with a reduction in the number of IOH events in this population. Methods A before‐and‐after study design. The patients who had intraoperative GDHT were compared to patients from a previous period before the implementation of GDHT. The primary outcome was the number of IOH episodes defined as five or more successive minutes with a mean arterial pressure

Salah satu tantangan yang dihadapi oleh UMKM dalam era perubahan digital ekonomi adalah kurangnya keterampilan sumber daya manusia (SDM) dalam mengadaptasi metode perdagangan dari model bisnis konvensional ke model bisnis online. Kemajuan dan kompleksitas perubahan digital yang terus meningkat setiap harinya menawarkan banyak manfaat bagi kemajuan dunia bisnis saat ini. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk menambah ilmu pengetahuan kepada UMKM Kota Batam dalam mengatasi tantangan yang muncul akibat perubahan era digital, terutama dalam hal pengelolaan Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM). Metode dalam pengabdian ini yaitu ceramah, diskusi dan tanya jawab serta evaluasi. Kegiatan ini mencakup penyampaian informasi dan memahami taktiknya serta teknik efektif dalam mengelola SDM di era digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peserta merasa puas karena kegiatan ini membantu mereka meningkatkan kemampuan mereka dalam mengelola sumber daya manusia di era modern.

The aim of this study was to determine the predictive power of academic motivation of primary school teacher candidates on their self-efficacy in the first reading and writing teaching. To this end, the study was designed as correlational survey model. The universe of the study consisted of public university students at Grades 2, 3 and 4 of the department of primary school education in 2021-2022 spring semester and the participants were selected randomly for this study. As data collection tool, “Academic Motivation Scale” was used in order to determine the motivational level of candidate primary school teachers, whereas “Self-Efficacy Scale for the First Reading and Writing Teaching” was used to evaluate the self-efficacy of the primary school teacher candidates in the first reading and writing teaching. Designed on “Google Forms”, these two scales were administered to teacher candidates in one online session. For the data collection procedure, two weeks were allowed for data collection. At the end of this duration, the data was analyzed. As for data analysis, descriptive statistical analysis and simple linear regression analysis were used in the study. As a result of the study, it was seen that both academic motivation level and self-efficacy level of the teacher candidates on the first reading and writing teaching were at high level. Additionally, it was realized that there was a significant relationship between academic motivation and self-efficacy in the first reading and writing teaching, and also it was stated that academic motivation significantly predicted the level of self-efficacy in the first reading and writing teaching. Besides, academic motivation accounted for 22% of the changes in the self-efficacy scores in the first reading and writing teaching.

Abstract The selection pressure imposed by the host immune system impacts hepatitis B virus (HBV) quasispecies variability. This study evaluates HBV genetic diversity in different biological fluids. Twenty paired serum, oral fluid, and DBS samples from chronic HBV carriers were analyzed using both Sanger and next generation sequencing (NGS). The mean HBV viral load in serum was 5.19 ± 4.3 log IU/mL (median 5.29, IQR 3.01–7.93). Genotype distribution was: HBV/A1 55% (11/20), A2 15% (3/20), D3 10% (2/20), F2 15% (3/20), and F4 5% (1/20). Genotype agreement between serum and oral fluid was 100% (genetic distances 0.0–0.006), while that between serum and DBS was 80% (genetic distances 0.0–0.115). Two individuals presented discordant genotypes in serum and DBS. Minor population analysis revealed a mixed population. All samples displayed mutations in polymerase and/or surface genes. Major population analysis of the polymerase pointed to positions H122 and M129 as the most polymorphic (≥ 75% variability), followed by V163 (55%) and I253 (50%). Neither Sanger nor NGS detected any antiviral primary resistance mutations in the major populations. Minor population analysis, however, demonstrated the rtM204I resistance mutation in all individuals, ranging from 2.8 to 7.5% in serum, 2.5 to 6.3% in oral fluid, and 3.6 to 7.2% in DBS. This study demonstrated that different fluids can be used to assess HBV diversity, nonetheless, genotypic differences according to biological compartments can be observed.

Media sosial seperti TikTok menjadi salah satu promosi produk yang saat ini memiliki prospek yang sangat bagus. Tiktok Shop Live sudah memiliki pasar yang sangat luas di seluruh dunia dengan segala kelebihannya. Dalam setiap update TikTok pengguna, terdapat peluang bisnis, informasi bisnis, dan strategi pemasaran yang berbeda untuk produk tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemanfaatan media sosial (TikTok) untuk e-commerce di kalangan mahasiswa ilmu komunikasi angkatan 2020 Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta tumbuh atau berkurang dari tahun ke tahun. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Hasil analisis ini menunjukkan kebiasaan belanja online siswa SMA menggunakan Tiktok.

Background: Food insecurity significantly impacts children’s health, affecting their development across cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional dimensions. This study explores the impact of food insecurity among children aged 6 months to 5 years, focusing on nutrient intake and its relationship with various forms of malnutrition. Methods: Utilizing machine learning algorithms, this study analyzed data from 819 children in the West Bank to investigate sociodemographic and health factors associated with food insecurity and its effects on nutritional status. The average age of the children was 33 months, with 52% boys and 48% girls. Results: The analysis revealed that 18.1% of children faced food insecurity, with household education, family income, locality, district, and age emerging as significant determinants. Children from food-insecure environments exhibited lower average weight, height, and mid-upper arm circumference compared to their food-secure counterparts, indicating a direct correlation between food insecurity and reduced nutritional and growth metrics. Moreover, the machine learning models observed vitamin B1 as a key indicator of all forms of malnutrition, alongside vitamin K1, vitamin A, and zinc. Specific nutrients like choline in the “underweight” category and carbohydrates in the “wasting” category were identified as unique nutritional priorities. Conclusion: This study provides insights into the differential risks for growth issues among children, offering valuable information for targeted interventions and policymaking.

Background and Objective: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is among the most common types of cancer. Although the disease is treatable in its early stages, five-year survival falls below 20% in the later stages. CEA and CA19-9 are tumor markers used in the diagnosis and follow-up of the disease in clinical practice; however, their diagnostic effectiveness is insufficient. Therefore, the identification of biomarkers that can be easily studied from serum and can diagnose CRC and determine its severity is highly important. In this context, dickkopf1 (DKK1) and cytoskeleton-associated protein 4 (CKAP4) are both promising biomarkers. Materials and Methods: Serum DKK1 and CKAP4 levels were measured in 55 patients with CRC and 40 healthy controls. The patients with CRC were divided into groups based on pathological stages and histological differentiation. The serum levels of both proteins in patients with CRC were measured preoperatively and 10 and 30 days postoperatively. Results: Serum DKK1 and CKAP4 were significantly higher in the CRC group than in the healthy controls (p < 0.05). Serum levels of both proteins rose in line with the disease stage and grade but decreased following surgical resection. A positive correlation was observed between tumor diameter and protein blood levels. The diagnostic efficacy of DKK1 and CKAP4 in CRC (approximately 95%) was higher than that of markers such as CEA and CA19-9. Conclusions: The DKK1 and CKAP4 serum values of patients with CRC are promising biomarkers. They can potentially be used in CRC management, namely, in the diagnosis and treatment of tumor response access and in tumor aggressiveness prediction.

Abstract Circulatory shock is defined syndromically as hypotension associated with tissue hypoperfusion and often subcategorized according to hemodynamic profile (e.g., distributive, cardiogenic, hypovolemic) and etiology (e.g., infection, myocardial infarction, trauma, among others). These shock subgroups are generally considered homogeneous entities in research and clinical practice. This current definition fails to consider the complex pathophysiology of shock and the influence of patient heterogeneity. Recent translational evidence highlights previously under-appreciated heterogeneity regarding the underlying pathways with distinct host-response patterns in circulatory shock syndromes. This heterogeneity may confound the interpretation of trial results as a given treatment may preferentially impact distinct subgroups. Re-analyzing results of major ‘neutral’ treatment trials from the perspective of biological mechanisms (i.e., host-response signatures) may reveal treatment effects in subgroups of patients that share treatable traits (i.e., specific biological signatures that portend a predictable response to a given treatment). In this review, we discuss the emerging literature suggesting the existence of distinct biomarker-based host-response patterns of circulatory shock syndrome independent of etiology or hemodynamic profile. We further review responses to newly prescribed treatments in the intensive care unit designed to personalize treatments (biomarker-driven or endotype-driven patient selection in support of future clinical trials).

Plastic pollution, including microplastic, has emerged as a severe environmental and public health problem. The health risks, especially in the case of reproductive damage caused by polystyrene microplastic (PS-MP) exposure, are emerging problems that need to be solved. This study aimed to investigate the effects of fucoidan extracted from Cladosiphon okamuranus on the polystyrene microplastic-induced oxidative stress of the Leydig (LC540) cells and reproductive damage in male rats. The oxidative stress of the LC540 cells and reproductive damage in the rats were induced by PS-MP. The fucoidan treatment reduces nitric oxide (NO) and reactive oxygen species generation in the LC540 cells. In the animal study, fucoidan treatment enhanced enzymatic antioxidant activities (glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, and glutathione reductase) and reduced malondialdehyde and nitric oxide production. Fucoidan supplementation also downregulates tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-6, and caspase-3 expression. Additionally, fucoidan upregulates testosterone levels, prevents the reduction of epithelium thickness, and reduces the area of the seminiferous tubule lumen. According to these conditions, fucoidan from Cladosiphon okamuranus prevents reproductive damage by downregulating oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Therefore, fucoidan can be used as a source of food supplements or functional food ingredients for reproductive or testicular damage management.

ABSTRACTHuman T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1)-associated myelopathy/tropic spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP) is an insidiously progressive spinal cord disease for which there is no effective treatment. There is great interest in developing potential biomarkers to predict the pathogenesis of HAM/TSP disease. In this study, Illumina Massive Parallel Sequencing (MPS) technology was used to investigate the cellular global noncoding RNAome expression profile in HAM/TSP patients (n = 10), asymptomatic HTLV-1-infected carriers (ASP, n = 8), and a second group of healthy controls (n = 5). Various bioinformatics tools were used to align, annotate, and profile the sRNA-MPS reads. Among the 402 sRNAs detected, 251 were known and 50 were potentially novel sRNAs in the HAM and ASP groups compared with the HC group. Sixty-eight known sRNAs were significantly different between the ASP and HAM groups. Eighty-eight mature miRNAs were downregulated in subjects from HAM compared with ASP. Three of these miRs (hsa-miR-185-5p, 32-5p, and 192-5p) have the potential to be used as biomarkers for predicting the pathogenesis of HAM/TSP. The seven most deregulated miRs target genes have been associated with a variety of biological processes and molecular functions. The reactome pathways relevant to our findings provide a rich source of data and offer the opportunity to better understand sRNA regulation and function in HTLV-1 pathophysiology. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to demonstrate evaluates sRNAs in HTLV-1 patients with HAM/TSP.
