Abstract

We propose a dissipative scheme to prepare a three-dimensional entangled state for two atoms trapped in separate coupled cavities. Our work shows that both atomic spontaneous emission and cavity decay, which are two typical obstacles in unitary-dynamics-based schemes, could be utilized as resources for high-dimensional entangled state preparation without specifying initial state and controlling time precisely. Abstract

Tunneling experiment is a key technique for detecting Majorana fermion in solid state systems. We use Keldysh non-equilibrium Green function method to study multi-lead tunneling in superconducting nanowire with Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit couplings. A zero-bias \textit{dc} conductance peak appears in our setup which signifies the existence of Majorana fermion and is in accordance with previous experimental results on InSb nanowire. Interestingly, due to the exotic property of Majorana fermion, there exists a hole transmission channel which makes the currents asymmetric at the left and right leads. The \textit{ac} current response mediated by Majorana fermion is also studied here. To discuss the impacts of Coulomb interaction and disorder on the transport property of Majorana nanowire, we use the renormalization group method to study the phase diagram of the wire. It is found that there is a topological phase transition under the interplay of superconductivity and disorder. We find that the Majorana transport is preserved in the superconducting-dominated topological phase and destroyed in the disorder-dominated non-topological insulator phase.

108. Stationary three-dimensional entanglement via dissipative Rydberg pumping

Abstract

We extend the recent result of bipartite Bell singlet [Carr and Saffman, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf111}, (2013)] to a stationary three-dimensional entanglement between two-individual neutral Rydberg atoms. This proposal makes full use of the coherent dynamics provided by Rydberg mediated interaction and the dissipative factor originating from the spontaneous emission of Rydberg state. The numerical simulation of the master equation reveals that both the target state negativity ${\cal N}(\hat\rho_{\infty})$ and fidelity ${\cal F}(\hat\rho_{\infty})$ can exceed 99.90%. 110. One-step achievement of robust multipartite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state and controlled-phase gate via Rydberg interaction

Abstract

We present a proposal for generation of a robust tripartite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state among three-individual neutral Rydberg atoms. By modulating the relation between two-photon detuning and Rydberg interaction strength $U_{ij}(r)$, an effective Raman coupling is obtained between the hyperfine ground states $|F=2,M=2\rangle$ of three $^{87}$Rb atoms and the Rydberg states $|rrr\rangle$ via the third-order perturbation theory. This method is also capable of implementing a three-qubit controlled-phase gate with each qubit encoded into the hyperfine ground states $|F=1,M=1\rangle$ and $|F=2,M=2\rangle$. We present a dissipative protocol to engineer two $^{87}Rb$ atoms into a form of three-dimensional entangled state via spontaneous emission. The combination of coupling between ground states via microwave fields and dissipation induced by spontaneous emission make the current scheme deterministic and a stationary entangled state can always be achieved without state initialization. Abstract

We present a new approach for implementing a $\sqrt{\rm swap}$ gate between two spatially far apart sites connected by a large-size coupled cavity array as quantum bus. The duration is only related to the parity of cavity number but independent of a specific number of cavity, thus it is possible to process quantum information in an arbitrary long distance in principle without time varied. Referring to the recent experimental progresses on coupled-cavity array, we also make an assessment of the scalability and take the cavity number $N$ = 5 as an example to illustrate the robustness of our proposal via quantum process tomography., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

We present two efficient methods for implementing the Fredkin gate with atoms separately trapped in an array of three high-$Q$ coupled cavities. The first proposal is based on the resonant dynamics, which leads to a fast resonant interaction in a certain subspace while leaving others unchanged, and the second one utilizes a dispersive interaction such that the effective long-distance dipole-dipole interaction between two distributed target qubits is achieved by virtually excited process. Both schemes can achieve the standard form of the Fredkin gate in a single step without any subsequent single-qubit operation. The effects of decoherence on the performance of the gate are also analyzed in virtue of master equation, and the strictly numerical simulation reveals that the average fidelity of the quantum gate is high., Comment: title changed

Abstract

Aim: The equator‐to‐poles decline in the number of species, namely the latitudinal diversity gradient (LDG), is the most conspicuous pattern in biology, yet the underlying mechanisms of this pattern remain controversial. Species dispersal could have strong effects on large‐scale species distributions but has rarely been considered in understanding the LDG. Here we sought to examine how dispersal ability may influence the latitudinal phylogenetic patterns of woody angiosperm assemblages. Location: China. Taxon: Woody angiosperms. Methods: Based on a highly supported mega‐phylogeny constructed from plastid genomes, we assessed the patterns of phylogenetic relatedness and dissimilarity of 1184 trees with three different seed dispersal modes (i.e. zoochory, anemochory and autochory) in 12 permanent forest dynamic plots covering tropical, subtropical and temperate zones in China. Results: We found that, compared with zoochorous and anemochorous species, the less vagile autochorous trees exhibited a much weaker latitudinal pattern in phylogenetic relatedness and higher phylogenetic dissimilarity among plots. The phylogenetic dissimilarity pattern of autochorous trees was explained more by geographic distance than environmental factors, consistent with a dominant role for dispersal limitation. Main Conclusions: Our study, for the first time, demonstrates that seed dispersal mode strongly influences the latitudinal phylogenetic patterns of woody angiosperm assemblages in China and highlights the importance of interaction between dispersal limitation and environmental filtering in determining the large‐scale distribution of forest biodiversity. Abstract

Abstract Background Arterialized vein flap is a kind of unphysiological flap. Unphysiological reconstruction of blood circulation leads to higher load than that supported by physiological flap and is the culprit of flap swelling, blood stasis, skin blistering, and necrosis after flap grafting. To resolve the multiple disadvantages of traditional flap grafting, by introducing the principles of fluid mechanics, shunt-decompression surgery is prepared to decline the circulation preload and improve the prognosis of arterialized vein flap grafting. Methods By introducing the principles of fluid mechanics, we established the model of shunt-decompression arterialized vein flap, which satisfied the common properties of general fluid that the interface pressure between object and fluid is reduced when the velocity of fluid is increased and vice versa—the effect of Bernoulli. Under this rule, we anastomose the arterialized vein to the branch of main artery of recipient region or make end-to-side anastomosis, which can maintain the blood flow of main artery, decrease the perfusion of flap, and preserve the decompressive effect of main artery to branches. From March, 2016 to September, 2016, we performed animal experiments on ten male bama mini pigs with average weight of 28 ± 2.35 kg. Superior epigastric artery of pig was used for feeding artery to arterialize the superficial epigastric veins. The total area of flap is 8 cm × 6 cm. End-to-side anastomosis and end-to-end anastomosis were established in experimental group and control group, respectively. Doppler speckle perfusion imaging apparatus was used to monitor the alterations of flap perfusion, blood flow of flap, tissue swelling and survival of flaps. Abstract

For a practical structural health monitoring (SHM) system, the traditional single objective methods for optimal sensor placement (OSP) cannot always obtain the optimal result of sensor deployment without sacrificing other targets, which creates obstacles to the efficient use of the sensors. This study mainly focuses on establishing a bi-objective optimization method to select the sensor placement positions. The practical significance of several single-objective criteria for OSP is firstly discussed, based on which a novel bi-objective optimization method is proposed based on the Pareto optimization process, and the corresponding objective functions are established. Furthermore, the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm is introduced to obtain a series of the Pareto optimal solutions, from which the final solution can be determined based on a new defined membership degree index. Finally, a numerical example of a plane truss is applied to illustrate the proposed method. The Pareto optimization-based bi-objective OSP framework presented in this study could be well suited for solving the problem of multi-objective OSP, which can effectively improve the efficiency of the limited sensors in SHM system.
