Abstract: The dynamics of the decay D s + → φe + v e are studied using a sample of 474 events recorded by the CLEO II detector. A three dimensional fit to the decay angles and q 2 is performed to extract the ratios of form factors R 2 = A 2 (0)/ A 1 (0) and R v = V (0 )/ A 1 (0), where A 1 (0) and A 2 (0) are the two axial vector form factors and V (0) is the vector form factor evaluated at q 2 =0. By assuming the single pole parameterization for the form factors, we obtain: R 2 =1.4±0.5±0.3 and R v =0.9±0.6±0.3.

Abstract: Using data collected in the region of the [Upsilon](4[ital S]) resonance with the CLEO II detector operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we report on evidence for the production of [Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup ++] and [Sigma][sub [ital e]][sup 0] baryons in [ital B] decays, with [Sigma][sub [ital c]][r arrow][Lambda][sub [ital c]][sup +][pi]. This observation is based on 77[plus minus]19[Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup ++] and 76[plus minus]21[Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup 0] candidates from [ital B] decays. We find the product branching fractions [ital scrB]([ital [bar B]][r arrow][Sigma][sub [ital c]][ital X])[ital scrB]([Lambda][sub [ital c]][sup +][r arrow][ital pK][sup [minus]][pi][sup +]) for [Sigma][sub [ital c]]=[Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup ++], [Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup 0], and [Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup +] to be (2.1[plus minus]0.8[plus minus]0.7)[times]10[sup [minus]4], (2.3[plus minus]0.8[plus minus]0.7)[times]10[sup [minus]4], and less than 4.8[times]10[sup [minus]4] at 90% confidence level, respectively. A study of the [Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup ++] and [Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup 0] momentum spectra indicates that [ital B] decays to two-body final states with [Sigma][sub [ital c]] are suppressed.

Abstract: Branching ratios for the dominant Cabibbo-suppressed decays of the $\tau$ lepton have been measured by CLEO~II in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation at CESR ($\sqrt{s} \sim 10.6$~GeV) using kaons with momenta below $0.7\ \rm GeV/c$. The inclusive branching ratio into one charged kaon is $(1.60 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.19)\%$. For the exclusive decays, $B(\tau \to K^-) = (0.66 \pm 0.07 \pm 0.09)\%$, $B(\tau \to K^- \pi^0) = (0.51 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.07)\%$, and, based on three events, $B(\tau \to K^- \pi^0 \pi^0) < 0.3\%$ at the 90\% confidence level. Abstract: The branching fractions for the five-charged-particle decays of the [tau] lepton have been measured in [ital e][sup +][ital e][sup [minus]] annihilations using the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. Assuming all charged particles to be pions, the results are [ital B](3[pi][sup [minus]]2[pi][sup +][ge]0 neutrals [nu][sub [tau]])=(0.097[plus minus]0.005[plus minus]0.011)%, [ital B](3[pi][sup [minus]]2[pi][sup +][nu][sub [tau]])=(0.077[plus minus]0.005 [plus minus]0.009)%, [ital B](3[pi][sup [minus]]2[pi][sup +][pi][sup 0][nu][sub [tau]])=(0.019[plus minus]0.004[plus minus]0.004)%, and [ital B](3[pi][sup [minus]]2[pi][sup +]2[pi][sup 0][nu][sub [tau]])[lt]0.011% at the 90% C.L. [ital B](3[pi][sup [minus]]2[pi][sup [minus]][pi][sup 0][nu][sub [tau]]) is measured for the first time by exclusive [pi][sup 0] reconstruction. The results are compared with the predictions from the partially conserved-axial-current and conserved-vector-current hypotheses assuming isospin invariance.

Abstract: We have measured the vector-pseudoscalar mass splitting M(D s * + )-M(D s + )=144.22±0.47±0.37 MeV significantly more precisely than the previous world average. We minimize the systematic errors by also measuring the vector-pseudoscalar mass difference M(D* 0 )-M(D 0 ) using the radiative decay D* 0 →D 0 γ, obtaining [M(D s * + )-M(D s + )]-[M(D* 0 )-M(D 0 )] =2.09±0.47±0.37 MeV. This is then combined with our previous high-precision measurement of M(D* 0 )-M(D 0 ), which used the decay D* 0 →D 0 π 0 . We also measure the mass difference M(D s + )-M(D + )=99.5±0.6±0.3 MeV, using the φπ + decay modes of the D s + and D + mesons.

Abstract: Using data from the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we measure [ital scrB]([tau][sup [minus]][r arrow][ital h][sup [minus]][pi][sup 0][nu][sub [tau]]) where [ital h][sup [minus]] refers to either [pi][sup [minus]] or [ital K][sup [minus]]. We use three different methods to measure this branching fraction. The combined result is [ital scrB]([tau][sup [minus]][r arrow][ital h][sup [minus]][pi][sup 0][nu][sub [tau]])=0.2587[plus minus]0.0012[plus minus]0.0042, in good agreement with standard model predictions.

Abstract: We present a measurement of [Gamma]([ital D][sub [ital s]][sup +][r arrow][mu][sup +][nu])/[Gamma]([ital D][sub [ital s]][sup +][r arrow][phi][pi][sup +])= 0.245[plus minus]0.052[plus minus]0.074. Using this ratio and [ital scrB]([ital D][sub [ital s]][sup +][r arrow][phi][pi][sup +])=(3.7[plus minus]0.9)% we extract [ital f][sub [ital D][ital s]]=344[plus minus]37[plus minus]52[plus minus]42 MeV, where the last error is due to the uncertainty in the [ital D][sub [ital s]][sup +][r arrow][phi][pi][sup +] absolute branching ratio. This result is larger than most theoretical predictions.

Abstract: We have observed the previously unseen decay modes Λπ+π0, Σ0π+π0 and Σ0π−π+π+ of the charmed baryon Λc+, as well as Λc+→Σ0π+ observed previously by ARGUS. The branching ratios for these four decay modes relative to Λc+→pK−π+ are measured to be 0.73 ±0.09± 0.16, 0.36 ±0.09±0.10, 0.21±0.05±0.05, and 0.21±0.02 ±0.04, respectively. Using the recent CLEO measurement of the branching ratio for Λc+→pK− π+, these modes account for 6% of Λc+ decays.

Abstract: Using the CLEO II data sample, with an integrated luminosity of 1.8 fb[sup [minus]1] at and near the [Upsilon](4[ital S]) resonance, we have observed a signal for [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup +][pi][sup [minus]], which could be due to either [ital D][sup 0][ital [bar D]][sup 0] mixing or doubly Cabibbo suppressed decay, or a combination of the two. We find [ital scrB]([ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup +][pi][sup [minus]])/[ital scrB]([ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +])=0.0077[plus minus]0 .0025(stat) [plus minus]0.0025(syst).

Abstract: Using the CLEO II detector at CESR we observe 500 Λ l + pairs consistent with the semileptonic decay Λc+ → λ+ν We measure σ(e + e − → Λ + c X) · B(Λ + c → Λ l + ν l ) = 4.77±0.25±0.66 pb . Combining with the charm semileptonic width and the lifetime of the Λc we also obtain B(Λ+c → pK−π+). We find no evidence for Λ l + ν l final states in which there are additional Λ+c decay products. We measure the decay asymmetry parameter of Λ+c → Λe+νe to be αΛc = −0.89+0.17+0.09−0.11−0.05.

Abstract: Using a data sample of 2.59 x 10^7 psi(2S) decays obtained with the CLEO-c detector, we perform amplitude analyses of the complementary decay chains chi_c1 -> eta pi+ pi- and chi_c1 -> eta' pi+ pi-. We find evidence for a P-wave eta' pi scattering amplitude, which, if interpreted as a resonance, would have exotic J^PC = 1^-+ and parameters consistent with the pi_1(1600) state reported in other production mechanisms. We also make the first observation of the decay a_0(980) -> eta' pi and measure the ratio of branching fractions B(a_0(980) -> eta' pi)/B(a_0(980) -> eta pi) = 0.064 +- 0.014 +- 0.014. The pi pi spectrum produced with a recoiling eta is compared to that with eta' recoil.

Abstract: We present the results of a Dalitz plot analysis of ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ using the CLEO-c data set of $818\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collisions accumulated at $\sqrt{s}=3.77\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. This corresponds to $3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ ${D}^{0}{\overline{D}}^{0}$ pairs from which we select 1259 tagged candidates with a background of $7.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9$ percent. Several models have been explored, all of which include the ${K}^{*}(892)$, ${K}_{2}^{*}(1430)$, ${K}^{*}(1680)$, the ${f}_{0}(980)$, and the $\ensuremath{\sigma}(500)$. We find that the combined ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ $S$-wave contribution to our preferred fit is $(28.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}6.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.1)%$ of the total decay rate while ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{K}}^{*}(892{)}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ contributes $(65.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.5)%$. Using three tag modes and correcting for quantum correlations we measure the ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ branching fraction to be $(1.058\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.038\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.073)%$.

Abstract: Using ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collision data corresponding to $5.88\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S)$ [$25.9\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$] decays and acquired by the CLEO III [CLEO-c] detectors operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we study the single-pion transitions from $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S)[\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)]$ to the respective spin-singlet states ${h}_{b[c]}$. Utilizing only the momentum of suitably selected transition-${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ candidates, we obtain the upper limit $\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{h}_{b})l1.2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ at 90% confidence level, and measure $\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{h}_{c})=(9.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.3)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$. Signal sensitivities are enhanced by excluding very asymmetric ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ candidates.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the decay ${D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ in two analyses, which combined provide a branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}({D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e})=(2.16\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.53\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.07)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$. We also provide an improved measurement of $\mathcal{B}({D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\eta}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e})=(11.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, provide the first form factor measurement, and set the improved upper limit $\mathcal{B}({D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e})l0.9\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$ (90%C.L.).

Abstract: Using 586 pb(-1) of e+ e- collision data at E(c.m.) = 4170 MeV, produced at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring collider and collected with the CLEO-c detector, we observe the process e+ e- → π+ π- h(c)(1P). We measure its cross section to be 15.6±2.3±1.9±3.0 pb, where the third error is due to the external uncertainty on the branching fraction of ψ(2S) → π0 h(c)(1P), which we use for normalization. We also find evidence for e+ e- → ηh(c)(1P) at 4170 MeV at the 3σ level and see hints of a rise in the e+ e- → π+ π- h(c)(1P) cross section at 4260 MeV.

Abstract: We present the first search for the decay ${D}_{s}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu}$ to test the four-quark content of the ${D}_{s}^{+}$ and the $\ensuremath{\omega}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}\ensuremath{\phi}$ mixing model for this decay. We use $586\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 4170 MeV. We find no evidence of a signal, and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}({D}_{s}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{e}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu})l0.20%$ at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Using the CLEO II detector and a sample of 955 000 [Upsilon](4S) decays we have confirmed charmless semileptonic decays of [ital B] mesons. In the momentum interval 2.3--2.6 GeV/[ital c] we observe an excess of 107[plus minus]15[plus minus]11 leptons, which we attribute to [ital b][r arrow][ital ul][nu]. This result yields a model-dependent range of values for [vert bar][ital V][sub [ital u][ital b]]/[ital V][sub [ital c][ital b]][vert bar] that is lower than has been obtained in previous studies. For the inclusive spectator model of Altarelli [ital et] [ital al]. we find [vert bar][ital V][sub [ital u][ital b]]/[ital V][sub [ital c][ital b]][vert bar]=0.076[plus minus]0.008. Models that describe [ital b][r arrow][ital ul][nu] with a limited set of exclusive final states give [vert bar][ital V][sub [ital u][ital b]]/[ital V][sub [ital c][ital b]][vert bar]=0.06[minus]0.10.

Abstract: We report results from a search for the decays ${\mathit{B}}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, ${\mathit{B}}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, and ${\mathit{B}}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{+}$${\mathit{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$. We find 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions, ${\mathit{B}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}$2.9\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}5}$, ${\mathit{B}}_{\mathit{K}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}$2.6\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}5}$, and ${\mathit{B}}_{\mathit{K}\mathit{K}}$0.7\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}5}$. While there is no statistically significant signal in the individual modes, the sum of ${\mathit{B}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}$ and ${\mathit{B}}_{\mathit{K}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}$ exceeds zero with a significance of more than 4 standard deviations, indicating that we have observed charmless hadronic B decays.

Abstract: Using 1.16 × 106 B B events collected at the γ(4S) resonance by the CLEO Collaboration at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we have searched for decays of B mesons to exclusive two-body hadronic final states including a Ds+ or a D s ∗+ meson. We obtain the 90% confidence level upper limit β (B → D s (∗)+ π − + D s ∗ +p − + D s (∗)+ π 0 + D s (∗)+ η + D s (∗)+ p 0 + D s (∗)+ (ω) × β(D s + → φπ + ) −5 . We have also searched for the W-exchange decays, B 0 → D s (∗)− K (∗)+ .

Abstract: We observe the [Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup +] baryon decaying to [Lambda][sub [ital c]][sup +][pi][sup 0] and measure the mass difference [ital M]([Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup +])[minus][ital M]([Lambda][sub [ital c]][sup +]) to be 168.5[plus minus]0.2 MeV/[ital c][sup 2]. We also measure the mass differences [ital M]([Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup ++])[minus][ital M]([Lambda][sub [ital c]][sup +]) and [ital M]([Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup 0])[minus][ital M]([Lambda][sub [ital c]][sup +]) with improved precision and determine the isospin mass splittings [ital M]([Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup ++])[minus][ital M]([Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup 0]) and [ital M]([Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup +])[minus][ital M]([Sigma][sub [ital c]][sup 0]) to be 1.1[plus minus]0.4[plus minus]0.1 MeV/[ital c][sup 2] and 1.4[plus minus]0.5[plus minus]0.3 MeV/[ital c][sup 2], respectively. Our results indicate that the light quark mass difference does not dominate the isospin mass splitting in [Sigma][sub [ital c]].

Abstract: We have measured branching ratios for three [Lambda][sub [ital c]] decay modes that have a [Sigma][sup +] in the final state. Two of the observed decay modes, [Lambda][sub [ital c]][r arrow][Sigma][sup +][pi][sup 0] and [Lambda][sub [ital c]][sup +][r arrow][Sigma][sup +][omega], have no external [ital W]-emission amplitudes. Their branching ratios relative to the [ital pK][sup [minus]][pi][sup +] mode are 0.20[plus minus]0.03[plus minus]0.03 and 0.54[plus minus]0.13[plus minus]0.06, respectively. We have also significantly improved the measurement of the branching ratio for the previously observed decay mode [Lambda][sub [ital c]][sup +][r arrow][Sigma][sup +][pi][sup +][pi][sup [minus]]. We find its branching ratio relative to [ital pK][sup [minus]][pi][sup +] to be 0.74[plus minus]0.07[plus minus]0.09.

Abstract: Using 1.79 ${\mathrm{fb}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$ of data recorded by the CLEO II detector we have measured the absolute branching fraction for ${\mathit{D}}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$. The angular correlation between the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$ emitted in the decay ${\mathit{D}}^{\mathrm{*}+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{D}}^{0}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$, and the jet direction in ${\mathit{e}}^{+}$${\mathit{e}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}cc\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} events, is used to determine the total number of inclusive ${\mathit{D}}^{0}$ mesons produced from this source. The subsequent reconstruction of the decay chain ${\mathit{D}}^{\mathrm{*}+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{D}}^{0}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$,${\mathit{D}}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$ allows a measurement of the absolute ${\mathit{D}}^{0}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$ branching fraction. Abstract: Using a sample of integrated luminosity 1.68 fb−1 collected with the CLEO-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we measure the branching ratios for the dominant exclusive semileptonic decays D → K l ν and D → K ∗ l ν , using charged and neutral D mesons. We also make a precise measurement of the vector form factor for the decay D 0 → K − l + ν , using a sample of 2700 events.

Abstract: Using the CLEO II detector at CESR we have studied [ital D][sup 0] decays into final states with a [ital [bar K]] [sup 0] or [ital [bar K]] [sup *0], and have measured branching ratios for the decay modes [ital D][sup 0][r arrow]([ital [bar K]] [sup 0]/[ital [bar K]] [sup *0])[pi][sup 0],[eta],[eta][prime]. These results are compared with predictions of various charm decay models, and contributions of final-state interactions are discussed.

Abstract: We report the measurement of new modes of the charmed baryon ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$ using data recorded by the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find branching ratios, relative to ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{pK}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$, of 0.070\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.011\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.011 for ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}^{+}$${\mathit{K}}^{+}$${\mathit{K}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, 0.069\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.023\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.016 for ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Sigma}\ensuremath{\varphi}, 0.078\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.013\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.013 for ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Xi}}}^{0}$${\mathit{K}}^{+}$, and 0.053\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.016\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.010 for ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Xi}}}^{\mathrm{*}0}$${\mathit{K}}^{+}$. These measurements indicate that W-exchange diagrams contribute to ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$ decay. We have also made a new measurement of the previously found mode ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathit{c}}^{+}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Xi}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$${\mathit{K}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\pi}}}^{+}$.

Abstract: Using data from CLEO II at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring we provide a new measurement of the branching fraction for [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][pi][sup +][pi][sup [minus]], and we present the first measurements of [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][pi][sup 0][pi][sup 0] and of [ital D][sup +][r arrow][pi][sup +][pi][sup 0], which is due to an isospin changing [Delta][ital I]=3/2 transition. From these data we extract the ratio of isospin amplitudes [vert bar][ital A][sub 2]/[ital A][sub 0][vert bar], and the cosine of the relative phase [delta]=[delta][sub 2][minus][delta][sub 0] between these amplitudes, for [ital D][r arrow][pi][pi] decays. Unlike the situation in kaon decay where [ital A][sub 2] is strongly suppressed, we find [vert bar][ital A][sub 2]/[ital A][sub 0][vert bar]=0.72[plus minus]0.13[plus minus]0.11 and cos[delta]=0.14[plus minus]0.13[plus minus]0.09.

Abstract: The decay [tau][sup [minus]][r arrow][pi][sup [minus]][pi][sup +][pi][sup [minus]]2[pi][sup 0][nu][sub [tau]] has been observed in [ital e][sup +][ital e[minus]] annihilation using the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. In a data sample collected at [radical][ital s] [similar to]10.6 GeV, 668[plus minus]38 decay candidates have been identified by exclusively reconstructing two [pi][sup 0]'s accompanying three charged particles, which are assumed to be pions. Normalizing to the number of [tau] pairs detected with one charged particle recoiling against three charged particles, this yields a branching ratio of [ital B][sub 3[pi]2[pi]][sup 0]=(0.48[plus minus]0.04[plus minus]0.04)%. A signal of 430[plus minus]33 events for the decay [tau][sup [minus]][r arrow][pi][sup [minus]][omega][pi][sup 0][nu][sub [tau]] has also been observed, corresponding to a branching ratio of [ital B][sub [pi][omega][pi]][sup 0]=(0.39[plus minus]0.04[plus minus]0.04)%.

Abstract: We have measured the [ital B][sup 0][ital [bar B]0] mixing probability, [chi][sub [ital d]], using a sample of 965 000 [ital B[bar B]] pairs from [Upsilon](4[ital S]) decays. Counting dilepton events, we find [chi][sub [ital d]]=0.157[plus minus]0.016[plus minus]0.018[sub [minus]0.021][sup +0.028]. Using tagged [ital B][sup 0] events, we find [chi][sub [ital d]]=0.149[plus minus]0.023[plus minus]0.019[plus minus]0.010. The first (second) error is statistical (systematic). The third error reflects a [plus minus]15% uncertainty in the assumption, made in both cases, that charged and neutral [ital B] pairs contribute equally to dilepton events. We also obtain a limit on the [ital CP] impurity in the [ital B][sub [ital d]][sup 0] system, [vert bar]Re([epsilon][sub [ital B]][sup 0])[vert bar][lt]0.045 at 90% C.L.

Abstract: We have observed the decays [ital B][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup *](892)[sup 0][gamma] and [ital B][sup [minus]][r arrow][ital K][sup *](892)[sup [minus]][gamma], which are evidence for the quark-level process [ital b][r arrow][ital s][gamma]. The average branching fraction is (4.5[plus minus]1.5[plus minus]0.9)[times]10[sup [minus]5]. This value is consistent with standard model predictions from electromagnetic penguin diagrams.

Abstract: A limit on the tau neutrino mass [ital M][sub [nu][tau]] is obtained from a study of tau decays in the reaction [ital e][sup +][ital e[minus]][r arrow][tau][sup +][tau][sup [minus]] at center-of-mass energies [similar to]10.6 GeV. The result is based on an end-point analysis of the invariant mass spectrum of the decay products in the decay modes [tau][sup [minus]][r arrow]3[ital h][sup [minus]]2[ital h][sup +][nu][sub [tau]] and [tau][sup [minus]][r arrow]2[ital h][sup [minus]][ital h+]2[pi][sup 0][nu][sub [tau]]. The data sample used in this analysis contains 1.77[times]10[sup 6] tau pairs, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.92 fb[sup [minus]1], and is substantially larger than previous data samples used to place a limit on [ital M][sub [nu][tau]]. The limit obtained for both five-hadron modes together is 32.6 MeV at 95% C.L.

Abstract: With the CLEO-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured branching fractions for tau lepton decay into one-prong final states with multiple [pi][sup 0]'s [ital B][sub [ital h][ital n][pi]][sup 0], normalized to the branching fraction for tau decay into one charged particle and a single [pi][sup 0]. We find [ital B][sub [ital h]2[pi]][sup 0]/[ital B][sub [ital h][pi]][sup 0]=0.345[plus minus]0.006[plus minus]0.016, [ital B][sub [ital h]3[pi]][sup 0]/[ital B][sub [ital h][pi]][sup 0]=0.041 [plus minus]0.003[plus minus]0.005, and [ital B][sub [ital h]4[pi]][sup 0]/[ital B][sub [ital h][pi]][sup 0]=0.006[plus minus]0.002[plus minus]0.002.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the lepton decay asymmetry ${\mathit{A}}_{\mathrm{fb}}$ in the reaction B\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{D}}^{\mathrm{*}}$${\mathit{l}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$\ensuremath{\nu}${\mathrm{\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}}}_{\mathit{l}}$ using data collected with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR). The value of ${\mathit{A}}_{\mathrm{fb}}$ confirms that the chirality of the weak interaction is predominantly left-handed in b\ensuremath{\rightarrow}c transitions as expected in the standard model, if it is assumed that the lepton current is also left-handed. Using ${\mathit{A}}_{\mathrm{fb}}$ and the previously determined branching ratio, ${\mathit{q}}^{2}$ distribution, and ${\mathit{D}}^{\mathrm{*}}$ polarization, we obtain the first measurement of the form-factor ratios that are used to describe this semileptonic decay.

Abstract: A search for the lepton mumber violating decay of the [tau] lepton to the [gamma][mu] final state has been performed with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell [ital e][sup +][ital e[minus]] storage ring CESR. In a data sample that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.55 fb[sup [minus]1], we observe no candidates in the signal region. We thus determine an upper limit of [ital B]([tau][sup [minus]][r arrow][gamma][mu][sup [minus]])[lt]4.2[times]10[sup [minus]6] at 90% confidence level.

Abstract: We report the first determination of the relative strong-phase difference between D0→KS,L0K+K- and D 0→KS,L0K+K-. In addition, we present updated measurements of the relative strong-phase difference between D0→KS,L0π+π- and D 0→KS,L0π+π-. Both measurements exploit the quantum coherence between a pair of D0 and D 0 mesons produced from ψ(3770) decays. The strong-phase differences measured are important for determining the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle γ/ϕ3 in B-→K-D˜0 decays, where D˜0 is a D0 or D 0 meson decaying to KS0h+h- (h=π, K), in a manner independent of the model assumed to describe the D0→KS0h+h- decay. Using our results, the uncertainty in γ/ϕ3 due to the error on the strong-phase difference is expected to be between 1.7° and 3.9° for an analysis using B-→K-D˜0, D˜0→KS0π+π- decays, and between 3.2° and 3.9° for an analysis based on B-→K-D˜0, D˜0→KS0K+K- decays. A measurement is also presented of the CP-odd fraction, F-, of the decay D0→KS0K+K- in the region of the ϕ→K+K- resonance. We find that in a region within 0.01 GeV2/c4 of the nominal ϕ mass squared F->0.91 at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: The decays of {psi}(2S) into {gamma}pp, {pi}{sup 0}pp, and {eta}pp have been studied with the CLEO-c detector using a sample of 24.5x10{sup 6} {psi}(2S) events obtained from e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilations at {radical}(s)=3686 MeV. The data show evidence for the excitation of several N{sup *} resonances in p{pi}{sup 0} and p{eta} channels in {pi}{sup 0}pp and {eta}pp decays, and f{sub 2} states in {gamma}pp decay. Branching fractions for decays of {psi}(2S) to {gamma}pp, {pi}{sup 0}pp, and {eta}pp have been determined. No evidence for pp threshold enhancements was found in the reactions {psi}(2S){yields}Xpp, where X={gamma}, {pi}{sup 0}, {eta}. We do, however, find confirming evidence for a pp threshold enhancement in J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}pp as previously reported by BES.

Abstract: Using a sample of $25.9\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ decays acquired with the CLEO-c detector at the CESR ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider, we report branching fractions for the decays ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{cJ}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$, $p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\eta}$, and $p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\omega}$, with $J=0$, 1, 2. Our results for $\mathcal{B}({\ensuremath{\chi}}_{cJ}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0})$ and $\mathcal{B}({\ensuremath{\chi}}_{cJ}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\eta})$ are consistent with, but more precise than, previous measurements. Furthermore, we include the first measurement of $\mathcal{B}({\ensuremath{\chi}}_{cJ}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\omega})$.

Abstract: Using a large sample ({approx_equal}11800 events) of D{sup +{yields}}K{sup -{pi}+}e{sup +{nu}}{sub e} and D{sup +{yields}}K{sup -{pi}+{mu}+{nu}}{sub {mu}}decays collected by the CLEO-c detector running at the {psi}(3770), we measure the helicity basis form factors free from the assumptions of spectroscopic pole dominance and provide new, accurate measurements of the absolute branching fractions for D{sup +{yields}}K*{sup 0}e{sup +{nu}}{sub e} and D{sup +{yields}}K*{sup 0{mu}+{nu}}{sub {mu}}decays. We find branching fractions which are consistent with previous world averages. Our measured helicity basis form factors are consistent with the spectroscopic pole dominance predictions for the three main helicity basis form factors describing D{sup +{yields}}K*{sup 0}l{sup +{nu}}{sub l} decay. The ability to analyze D{sup +{yields}}K{sup -{pi}+{mu}+{nu}}{sub {mu}}allows us to make the first nonparametric measurements of the mass-suppressed form factor. Our result is inconsistent with existing lattice QCD calculations. Finally, we measure the form factor that controls nonresonant s-wave interference with the D{sup +{yields}}K*{sup 0}l{sup +{nu}}{sub l} amplitude and search for evidence of possible additional nonresonant d- or f-wave interference with the K*{sup 0}.

Abstract: A search for J/{psi} radiative decay to weakly interacting neutral final states was performed using the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. J/{psi} events were selected by observing the hadronic decay {psi}(2S){yields}{pi}{sup +{pi}-}J/{psi}. A total of 3.7x10{sup 6} J/{psi} events were used to study the decay J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}+X, where X is a narrow state that is invisible to the detector. No significant signal was observed, and upper limits on the branching fraction were set for masses m{sub X} up to 960 MeV/c{sup 2}. The upper limit corresponding to m{sub X}=0 is 4.3x10{sup -6} at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: We have measured the inclusive semileptonic branching fractions of $D^0$, $D^+$, and $D^+_s$ mesons. For these measurements, we have used the full CLEO-c open-charm data samples, 818 pb$^{-1}$ at $E_\text{CM} = 3.774$ GeV, giving $D^0 \bar{D}^0$ and $D^+ D^-$ events, and 602 pb$^{-1}$ at $E_\text{CM} = 4.170$ GeV, giving $D^{\ast \pm}_s D^\mp_s$ events. We obtain $\mathcal{B}(D^0 \to X e^+ \nu_e) = (6.46 \pm 0.09 \pm 0.11)$%, $\mathcal{B}(D^+ \to X e^+ \nu_e) = (16.13 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.29)$%, and $\mathcal{B}(D^+_s \to X e^+ \nu_e) = (6.52 \pm 0.39 \pm 0.15)$%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. From these and lifetimes obtained elsewhere, we obtain the ratios of semileptonic decay widths $\Gamma (D^+ \to X e^+ \nu_e) / \Gamma (D^0 \to X e^+ \nu_e) = 0.985 \pm 0.015 \pm 0.024$ and $\Gamma (D^+_s \to X e^+ \nu_e) / \Gamma (D^0 \to X e^+ \nu_e) = 0.828 \pm 0.051 \pm 0.025$. The ratio of $D^+$ and $D^0$ is consistent with the isospin symmetry prediction of unity, and the ratio of $D^+_s$ and $D^0$ differs from unity, as expected., Comment: 16 pages, available through http://www.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLNS/, published in Physical Review D Vol.81, No.5 (2010).

Abstract: We have searched for flavor-changing neutral current decays and lepton-number-violating decays of D^+ and D^+_s mesons to final states of the form h^+- e^-+ e^+, where h is either ��or K. We use the complete samples of CLEO-c open-charm data, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 818 pb^-1 at the center-of-mass energy E_CM = 3.774 GeV containing 2.4 x 10^6 D^+D^- pairs and 602 pb^-1 at E_CM = 4.170 GeV containing 0.6 x 10^6 D^*+-_s D^-+_s pairs. No signal is observed in any channel, and we obtain 90% confidence level upper limits on branching fractions B(D^+ --> ��^+ e^+ e^-) < 5.9 x 10^-6, B(D^+ --> ��^- e^+ e^+) < 1.1 x 10^-6, B(D^+ --> K^+ e^+ e^-) < 3.0 x 10^-6, B(D^+ --> K^- e^+ e^+) < 3.5 x 10^-6, B(D^+_s --> ��^+ e^+ e^-) < 2.2 x 10^-5, B(D^+_s --> ��^- e^+ e^+) < 1.8 x 10^-5, B(D^+_s --> K^+ e^+ e^-) < 5.2 x 10^-5, and B(D^+_s --> K^- e^+ e^+) < 1.7 x 10^-5., 9 pages, available through http://www.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLNS/

Abstract: The tau lepton electron branching fraction has been measured with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring as [ital B][sub [ital e]]=0.1749[plus minus]0.0014[plus minus]0.0022, with the first error statistical and the second systematic. The measurement involves counting electron-positron annihilation events in which both taus decay to electrons, and normalizing to the number of tau-pair decays expected from the measured luminosity. Detected photons in these events constitute a definitive observation of tau decay radiation.
