Approach and Landing is a critical phase during the descent of an unpowered Reusable Launch Vehicle since a safe and reliable landing at a desired touchdown point on the runway needs to be achieved with the available energy. This paper proposes a control scheme for the longitudinal short period vehicle dynamics during the approach and landing phase based on linearization of the state space model around an equilibrium point. Set point tracking based on pole placement approach is implemented to achieve asymptotic tracking of the reference angle of attack command. In the presence of system parameter variations and disturbances, an integral control is additionally designed to achieve asymptotic tracking of the output. Simulation results validate that the proposed control scheme is effective in tracking the desired reference command under the effect of disturbances and large variations in system parameters.

Orthodontic treatment using fixed appliances is known to alter the oral environment and encourage plaque retention around orthodontic brackets and bands, resulting in enamel demineralization and gingival inflammation. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in essential salivary parameters in patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment.Saliva samples were collected from 60 patients before and 2 months after commencing fixed orthodontic treatment. The salivary flow rate, pH, buffering capacity, and levels of amylase, total protein, and glucose were determined. Parametric and nonparametric tests for paired samples were used for comparing the mean differences before and after commencing treatment.Significant reductions in the salivary flow rate, pH, and buffering capacity were noted 2 months after commencing treatment (P0.05). Total protein concentrations and calcium levels decreased significantly and amylase and glucose levels increased after commencing treatment (P0.05). Significant correlations were observed between salivary total protein concentrations and buffering capacity as well as calcium levels (P0.05).These findings indicate that the biochemical properties of saliva are altered after introducing fixed orthodontic appliances into the oral cavity, thereby promoting plaque retention and increasing the susceptibility to tooth demineralization and gingival inflammation.

Various algorithms have been used in the past to create a feasible reference trajectory to guide a Reusable Launch Vehicle from Approach and Landing interface to the desired touchdown point on the runway. Traditional Shuttle guidance scheme relies on a set of fixed trajectory segments during this phase. Further, this is followed by the development of several onboard and offline computational methods to design a reference profile. This paper proposes a nominal profile comprising of two segments; the steep glideslope followed by a novel flare maneuver scheme for safe touchdown on the runway satisfying all the constraints. Besides being an onboard generation method which generates a trajectory based on current vehicle states, the scheme consist of only two segments which is analytically simpler for mathematical computations. Simulation results validate that the proposed quadratic flare maneuver for touchdown allows for a lesser load factor. Moreover, the vehicle experiences lower peak dynamic pressures at higher altitudes compared to other schemes.

Proteins and other macromolecules can be delivered into live cells by noninvasive techniques using cell-penetrating peptides. These peptides are easily synthesised by solid-phase peptide synthesis and can be conjugated onto cargo molecules to mediate cellular delivery. We designed a TAT-based cell-penetrating ubiquitin (Ub) reagent by conjugating a dimeric disulfide-linked TAT peptide to the C terminus of a rhodamine-labelled Ub (RhoUb) protein. This reagent efficiently enters the cell by endocytosis and escapes from endosomes into the cytoplasm. Once the conjugate is inside the cytoplasm, the delivery vehicle is proteolytically removed by endogenous deubiquitinases (DUBs), at which point the intrinsic ubiquitination machinery is able to incorporate the RhoUb into ubiquitin conjugates. Our approach enables the controlled delivery of labelled or mutant Ub derivatives into cells, increasing our options for studying the ubiquitin system.

The fabrication of tunable poly(vinyl chloride) porous films containing polyphosphate as an additive was successful. Irradiation of poly(vinyl chloride) films containing polyphosphate at a low concentration (0.5% by weight) with an ultraviolet light (λmax = 313 nm) for 300 h leads to the formation of a honeycomb like structure. The scanning electron microscopy images, at different magnification power, confirmed the production of the PVC honeycomb-like structure. The morphological images of the polymeric film showed a rough surface and a large number of regularly distributed hexagonal pores. The number of pores increased upon irradiation time and it was maximum after 300 h. The honeycomb structure formation could be due to the regular aggregation of polyphosphate among the polymeric chains, the increase in solution intrinsic viscosity and evaluation of hydrogen chloride gas through dehydrochlorination process.

The nuclear structure of the ground state for even 12,14,18N isotopes are studied within the shell model framework through the longitudinal elastic electron scattering. The generate wave functions from two-body interaction of Cohen and Kurath in the p-shell for 12,14N, and psdsu3 interaction for 18N nucleus. The exact value of the center of mass correction in the translation invariant shell model (TISM) are re-examined for longitudinal form factors. The contribution of a higher 2p-shell configuration resolves some discrepancies with the experiments for the form factors at q-values. The inclusion of the core polarization effects through an effective nucleon charge gives a reasonable agreement for the present results with available data. The occupancy percentage with respect to the valance nucleons is also calculated.

The linear accelerator is used in radiotherapy to treat tumors whether it was benign or malignant. The megavoltage electron beam is used to treat superficial tumors that do not exceed 5cm depth. In this work the dose distribution before irradiating the patient to check whether the prescribed dose is matched with the irradiated dose to help the physicist to fix the errors or deviations if it is detected. The quality assurance (QA) measured of electron beam with energy 12 MeV at common different depths and field sizes using StarTrack 2D detector and to ensure that it does not exceed the recommended limits. The equipped QA device is a StarTrack 2D detector under the linear accelerator infinity from Elekta at 100 cm from source-to surface distance SSD. The tested energy 12 MeV at depths 0.5 cm and 1.5 cm for field sizes 6cm×6cm, 10cm×10 cm and 14cm×14cm as limits measured according to the International Electrotechnical Commissioning (IEC) protocols. Results show that the revealed an error in the output dose at 6cm×6cm and 10cm×10 cm field sizes for 1.5 cm depth but for 14cm×14cm field size at 0.5 cm depth, the dose found to be above the tolerance. Also it’s found that the output dose is highly reached to 1.5 cm depth than the 0.5 cm. Furthermore, all the rotation axis of the collimator are within the limits with a few noises in the signal at the inline and the crossline axis. We conclude that there was an error in the output does need to be recalibrated before irradiating the patients to electron beam therapy at 12 MeV to assure that the treatment is qualified and efficient.

The selection and classification of genes is essential for the identification of related genes to a specific disease. Developing a user-friendly application with combined statistical rigor and machine learning functionality to help the biomedical researchers and end users is of great importance. In this work, a novel stand-alone application, which is based on graphical user interface (GUI), is developed to perform the full functionality of gene selection and classification in high dimensional datasets. The so-called HDG-select application is validated on eleven high dimensional datasets of the format CSV and GEO soft. The proposed tool uses the efficient algorithm of combined filter-GBPSO-SVM and it was made freely available to users. It was found that the proposed HDG-select outperformed other tools reported in literature and presented a competitive performance, accessibility, and functionality.

Three organosilanes were synthesized in good yields from the condensation of 4,4&prime, 4&Prime, ((phenylsilanetriyl)tris(oxy))tribenzaldehyde and 4-substituted anilines under acidic conditions. The structure of the organosilanes was confirmed using a variety of techniques. Organosilanes were mixed with poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and homogenous films were produced. The effect of long-term irradiation on the films containing organosilanes was tested using various methods. Monitoring the infrared spectra of PVC films before, during and after irradiation processes showed the formation of side products comprising polyene, carbonyl and hydroxyl groups. The intensities of absorption bands due to these functional groups were much lower in the presence of organosilanes as compared to the blank film. Also, the decrease in the weight and molecular weight of PVC films after irradiation was lower in the presence of organosilanes. Additionally, there was a minimal surface change of irradiated PVC in the presence of organosilanes. Clearly, organosilanes act as inhibitors, particularly the one containing the hydroxyl group, for the photodegradation of PVC. Different mechanisms were proposed to speculate the role played by organosilanes in stabilizing PVC against long-term ultraviolet light exposure.

Background: With the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, in the UK guidance on shielding to protect vulnerable individuals included minimising face-to-face (FTF) contact and visits to hospital for people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF). We undertook a UK-wide survey to study how CF centres adapted their practice during this time. Method: We contacted CF nurses to explore service changes to routine outpatient care, emergency consultations, annual reviews (AR), and use of remote monitoring between March - July 2020. Results: Nineteen centres (13 adult) caring for 34% of the UK CF population replied (response rate 35%). Eleven (58%) ceased routine FTF appointments until virtual clinics were implemented, in 1 centre solely by telephone. Six centres suspended AR, the remainder integrating them into virtual or emergency FTF appointments. All noted reduction in hospital admission rates, citing better treatment compliance, reluctance to admission, effect of shielding and initiation of CFTR modulators. Twelve centres (63%) reported increased demand for psychology input. Departmental spirometry was only performed at F2Fclinics and all centres distributed remote spirometry devices to suitable pwCF, with training delivered F2F or remotely. Multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings continued virtually at all centres. Fourteen (73%) reported an increase in home visits for blood tests and IV antibiotic management. To cope, 20% reduced support visits and extended TIVAD flush duration intervals. Nine continued existing research activity. Most centres reported initial technical issues with virtual clinics that were subsequently addressed and have incorporated virtual appointments into their care. Conclusions: Despite need for rapid service change, all centres continued to support their pwCF. Virtual clinics and MDT meetings were adopted by all centres within the UK and this service will strengthen in time.

Summary An experimental investigation by replacing 15% by volume fraction of fine aggregate by crumb rubber was conducted to find the fatigue failure load and impact resistance. The design strength of 50 and 55 MPa was achieved. Test result indicated that there was reduction in compressive strength and modulus values. The fatigue failure and impact resistance were high for rubber concrete when compared with ordinary high strength concrete. The impact strength for railway sleeper with crumb rubber replacement showed increase of about 60% when compared to prestressed concrete sleeper.

Odisha being the coastal state of Indian sub-continent records a rich medicinal plant diversity in general and orchids in particular. Since time immemorial, these important plant resources remains in a neglected state leading to an alarming situation in near future. Virgin forests of Odisha spreading in areas like Gandhmardan Hills, Niyamgiri Hills, Deomali Hills, Mahendragiri Hills and Similipal Biosphere Reserve hoards rich orchid diversity enduring luxuriant growth. Out of 137 species of Orchids recorded so far, Similipal area alone harbours about 94 orchid species possessing high aesthetic and medicinal value. Unfortunately, the medicinal importance of orchids of this region has drawn least attention from both the scientific fraternity as well as general populace compared to their role in horticulture field. Orchid species of Odisha like Acampe carinata (Griff.) Panigr., A. praemorsa (Roxb.) Blatt. & McCann, Geodorum recurvum (Roxb.) Alston, Habenaria marginata Coleb., Rhynchostylis retusa (L.) Bl. and Vanda testacea (Lindl.) Rchb.f. are used to cure rheumatism, arthritis, dysentery, asthma and snake bite etc. However, the medicinal potentialities of these orchids are not so well exploited though they possess immense curative values. Further, as the forests of Odisha are experiencing various anthropogenic as well as abiotic pressures, many of the orchid populations are fast shrinking leading to their mass depletion. Realizing this, the current communication highlights the importance of 26 medicinal orchids very often used by the tribal populace of Odisha to get relief from various ailments. Concurrently, some major conservational strategies have also been projected.

Adapter is a widely applied structure connecting satellite and launch vehicle with standard interface. In this paper, the described technique simultaneously uses the size and shape optimization on an engineering satellite adapter to achieve more efficient design. The optimization application is achieved by modifying its shape design variables and performing size optimization to obtain optimal design. The process is formulated in Msc.Patran/Nastran with the help of an algorithm generated by patran command language (PCL). Optimization results proved that the modified adapter greatly enhanced the stiffness and strength of the whole satellite while reducing the adapter weight by around 70%.

Obstacle avoidance is an important concept to be considered when a robotic system is installed in an environment. Obstacles within the working space of a robotic system can prevent the robot from performing the tasks assigned to it properly; hence, the designer of the robotic system must program the robot to follow an emergency strategy that enables it to avoid any contact with a probable obstacle anywhere anytime within the working space of the robot. For mobile robots this task is relatively easier to accomplish since this type of robots have the flexibility to change their routes and take alternatives that are free of obstacles. For fixed robotic arm manipulators the situation is much more complex. In this paper we are only concerned with obstacle avoidance techniques and present a real-time obstacle avoidance method for fixed robotic arms that combines the benefits of both global and local techniques in that it can be used for both static and dynamic environments with a reduced computational effort.

Although plastic induces environmental damages, almost the consumption of poly(vinyl chloride) never stops increasing. Therefore, this work abstracted by two parts, first, synthesis of Schiff bases 1–4 compounds through the reaction of amino group with appropriate aromatic aldehyde, reaction of PVC with Schiff bases compounds 1–4 in THF to form a new modified PVC-1, PVC-2, PVC-3, and PVC-4. The structures of Schiff bases 1–4 and the modified PVC-1, PVC-2, PVC-3, and PVC-4 have been characterized by different spectroscopic analyses. Second, the influence of introducing 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole as a pendent groups into PVC chain investigated on photostability rules of tests. The modified polymers photostability investigated by observing indices (ICO, Ipo, and IOH), weight loss, UV and morphological studies, and all results obtained indicated that PVC-1, PVC-2, PVC-3 and PVC-4 gave lower growth rate of ICO, IPO, and IOH through UV exposure time. The oral cavity is of great importance to the performance of orally retained formulations, including: orally disintegrating tablets, taste-masked formulations, and buccal/sublingual delivery systems. With regards to in vitro dissolution assessment of these dosage forms, human saliva should be represented by the dissolution media. Currently there is no general consensus regarding oral cavity dissolution. In this study pooled human saliva was characterised and utilised as dissolution media for biorelevant oral cavity dissolution studies and to assess drug release. Lipophilic drug felodipine with challenging biopharmaceutical properties was selected for assessment in oral cavity dissolution studies. These saliva dissolution studies investigated for the first time how biorelevant dissolution can be implemented as a screening tool to guide the formulation development process and to predict dosage form performance within the mouth. In this study a combination of three dissolution enhancement strategies (cryomilling, solid dispersion, and inclusion complexation) were employed to eventually increase the concentration of felodipine in saliva 150-fold. Using this successful formulation strategy orally disintegrating tablets of felodipine were produced. Interestingly, the percentage release of felodipine in compendial dissolution apparatus was shown to be over 80% after 10 min. On the other hand, saliva-based dissolution showed that percentage release of felodipine was only 0.2% after 10 min using the same formulation. This discrepancy in drug release between dissolution media highlights the need for biorelevant dissolution apparatus for the oral cavity to reliably assess performance of relevant dosage forms in vitro.

SUMO is a post‐translational modifier critical for cell cycle progression and genome stability that plays a role in tumorigenesis, thus rendering SUMO‐specific enzymes potential pharmacological targets. However, the systematic generation of tools for the activity profiling of SUMO‐specific enzymes has proven challenging. We developed a diversifiable synthetic platform for SUMO‐based probes by using a direct linear synthesis method, which permits N‐ and C‐terminal labelling to incorporate dyes and reactive warheads, respectively. In this manner, activity‐based probes (ABPs) for SUMO‐1, SUMO‐2, and SUMO‐3‐specific proteases were generated and validated in cells using gel‐based assays and confocal microscopy. We further expanded our toolbox with the synthesis of a K11‐linked diSUMO‐2 probe to study the proteolytic cleavage of SUMO chains. Together, these ABPs demonstrate the versatility and specificity of our synthetic SUMO platform for in vitro and in vivo characterization of the SUMO protease family.

The design and synthesis of porous organic materials that have increasing physical and chemical characteristics have been discussed. For example, a variety of porous organic polymers, metal–organic frameworks, conjugated microporous polymers, and polymers of intrinsic microporosity have been designed and synthesized using simple and efficient procedures. Such materials have unique gas adsorption properties and can be used in gases separation and storage. In addition, they have high surface area, porosity, and selectivity towards carbon dioxide compared to other gases such as nitrogen and methane.

Chromatography is emerging as an efficient technique for the separation of engineered nanoparticles (NPs) and has been gaining tremendous attention due to its ease, facile, and cost-effective nature. This chapter puts together the various chromatography techniques so far implemented to separate or fractionate various NPs in detail. The influence of morphological features of the NPs along with overall surface properties that can aid their separation using chromatography will be highlighted. Finally, this chapter also provides an overview of the various analytical and advanced physical characterization techniques often used to evaluate the successful separation of nanoparticles.

Aims and background Improving survival has been documented for oral squamous cell carcinoma in recent years. It is a common malignancy in Pakistan but survival outcomes have not been reported. The objective of this study was to determine survival and identify independent predictors in patients with oral squamous cell cancer in 2 different time periods. Methods A retrospective review of patients who received treatment between 2003 and 2012 was performed. Patients were divided into two 5 year groups: group 1 (2003-2007) (n = 628) and group 2 (2008-2012) (n = 920). Demographics, risk factors, treatment approaches, and outcomes were compared. Disease-free and overall survival were calculated. Cox proportional hazard model was used to determine independent predictors of survival. Results A significant difference was present for ethnicity and grade and clinical T and N stage of tumors, with earlier presentation in group 2. More patients underwent surgery (p = 0.001) and had radical treatment intent (pConclusions These results from a single cancer hospital demonstrate improvement in overall survival secondary to early detection, better patient selection, and use of palliative chemotherapy in the later period.

Mixed convection heat transfer in a vertical concentric annulus packed with a metallic porous media and heated at a constant heat flux is experimentally investigated with water as the working fluid. A series of experiments have been carried out with a Rayleigh number range from Ra=122418.92 to 372579.31 and Reynolds number that based on the particles diameter of Red=14.62, 19.48 and 24.36. Under steady state condition, the measured data were collected and analyzed. Results show that the wall surface temperatures are affected by the imposed heat flux variation and Reynolds number variation. The variation of the local heat transfer coefficient and the mean Nusselt number are presented and analyzed. An empirical correlation has been proposed for computing the Nusselt number for the geometry and boundary conditions under investigation.

Three polyphosphates were used as inhibitors for poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) photodegradation. The polyphosphates were added to PVC at a concentration of 0.5% by weight. The PVC films (40 µm thickness) were irradiated at room temperature with ultraviolet (UV) light for up to 300 h. The changes in PVC films after irradiation were monitored by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, weight loss, viscosity-average molecular weight determination, and atomic force microscopy. These changes were very noticeable in the blank PVC films compared to the ones obtained when additives were used. The polyphosphates can inhibit the PVC photodegradation through direct absorption of UV light, interactions with PVC chains, and acting as radical scavengers.

Increasing treatment costs of HF patients affect the initiation of appropriate treatment method. Divergent approaches to measure the costs of treatment and the lack of common cost indicators impede the comparison of therapy settings.In the context of the present meta-analysis, key cost indicators from the perspective of healthcare providers are to be identified, described, analyzed and quantified. This review helps narrowing down the cost indicators, which have the most significant economic impact on the total treatment costs of HF patients. Telemedical services are to be compared to standard therapy methods.The identification process was based on several steps. For the quantitative synthesis, we used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. An additional set of criteria was defined for the following qualitative analysis.5 key cost indicators were identified with significant economic impact on the treatment costs of HF patients.95% of the reported treatment costs could be captured based on the identified cost indicators.

Ubiquitin (Ub) signaling is a diverse group of processes controlled by covalent attachment of small protein Ub and polyUb chains to a range of cellular protein targets. The best documented Ub signaling pathway is the one that delivers polyUb proteins to the 26S proteasome for degradation. However, studies of molecular interactions involved in this process have been hampered by the transient and hydrophobic nature of these interactions and the lack of tools to study them. Here, we develop Ub-phototrap (UbPT), a synthetic Ub variant containing a photoactivatable crosslinking side chain. Enzymatic polymerization into chains of defined lengths and linkage types provided a set of reagents that led to identification of Rpn1 as a third proteasome ubiquitin-associating subunit that coordinates docking of substrate shuttles, unloading of substrates, and anchoring of polyUb conjugates. Our work demonstrates the value of UbPT, and we expect that its future uses will help define and investigate the ubiquitin interactome.

Ubiquitin (Ub) is a small post-translational modifier protein involved in a myriad of biochemical processes including DNA damage repair, proteasomal proteolysis, and cell cycle control. Ubiquitin signaling pathways have not been completely deciphered due to the complex nature of the enzymes involved in ubiquitin conjugation and deconjugation. Hence, probes and assay reagents are important to get a better understanding of this pathway. Recently, improvements have been made in synthesis procedures of Ub derivatives. In this perspective, we explain various research reagents available and how chemical synthesis has made an important contribution to Ub research.

In this research work, numerical simulations are performed to correlate the photovoltaic parameters with various internal and external factors influencing the performance of solar cells. Single-diode modeling approach is utilized for this purpose and theoretical investigations are compared with the reported experimental evidences for organic and inorganic solar cells at various electrical and thermal conditions. Electrical parameters include parasitic resistances (Rs and Rp) and ideality factor (n), while thermal parameters can be defined by the cells temperature (T). A comprehensive analysis concerning broad spectral variations in the short circuit current (Isc), open circuit voltage (Voc), fill factor (FF) and efficiency (eta;) is presented and discussed. It was generally concluded that there exists a good agreement between the simulated results and experimental findings. Nevertheless, the controversial consequence of temperature impact on the performance of organic solar cells necessitates the development of a complementary model which is capable of well simulating the temperature impact on these devices performance. In this work, gene expression in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is analyzed with the goal of selecting the most attributed genes and performing classification. The objective was achieved by utilizing a combination of various statistical filters and a wrapper-based geometric binary particle swarm optimization-support vector machine (GBPSO-SVM) algorithm. The utilization of different filters was accentuated by incorporating a mean and median ratio criterion to remove very similar genes. The results showed that the most discriminative genes that were identified in the first and last selection steps included the presence of a repetitive gene (CAPS2), which was assigned as the gene most highly related to ASD risk. The merged gene subset that was selected by the GBPSO-SVM algorithm was able to enhance the classification accuracy.

A comparative study for temperature dependence of bulk modulus and an investigation for the evolution of this variation have been established, by using five different theoretical equations, according to their historical development. The theoretical results obtained in this work have been compared with experimental data. Pyrope garnet, Mg3Al2(SiO4)3, has been chosen as an example for solid materials.

A novel discotic liquid crystal series based on 1,3,5-benzenetrisazomethine derivatives with three pendant 2-amino-5-(4′-n-alkoxy)phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole has been synthesized, which is the first columnar molecules containing 1,3,4-thiadiazole moiety exhibiting a discotic liquid crystal. The molecular structure of compounds was confirmed by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and mass spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The electron excitation properties of these compounds were investigated by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Their liquid crystalline properties were studied by polarizing optical microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The formation of a columnar mesophase was found to be dependent on the number of methylene unit in alkoxy side chains.

Objective Dementia is a public health priority worldwide. Early screening of cognitive impairment and locating of specific impaired areas are essential for timely intervention and prolonging independence. The commonly-used Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) is inadequate. Alternatively, the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Exam III (ACE-III) that assesses five domains (attention, memory, verbal fluency, language and visuospatial abilities) is recommended. Thus, we aim to examine the utility of Singapore-Chinese version (ACE-III-SG-C) for case finding of cognitive impairment, and its correlation with the respective standardized neuropsychological tests. Methods 22 participants were referred by neurologists for comprehensive neuropsychological assessment at public healthcare institution. Participants were categorized into three groups (No Cognitive Impairment, NCI: 6; Mild Cognitive Impairment, MCI: 9; Dementia: 7). The ACE-III-SG-C and MMSE were administered. ACE-III-SG-C total and individual domain scores were computed. Results No significant difference in age and education across three groups. The MMSE scores (F(2,19) = 5.005, p = .018) and ACE-III-SG-C total scores (F(2,19) = 21.296, p < 0.001) were significantly different across three groups. Post hoc comparisons indicated that dementia (p < .001) and MCI (p = 0.046) groups had significantly lower ACE-III-SG-C total scores than NCI group. However, the MMSE scores of the MCI and NCI groups were comparable (p = 0.850). The Modified Boston Naming Test were significantly correlated with ACE-III-SG-C language domain scores (r = .605, p = .003), but not MMSE (r = .400, p = .065). Conclusions ACE-III-SG-C demonstrated its usefulness for early screening of MCI and dementia. Its correlation with language test suggested potential detection for disorders with language impairment. Further research is needed to unravel its utility of describing other specific impaired areas.

The main purpose of this research is to design multilayer filter that can permit the IR wavelength (800-1500 nm), to make the aim of the research comes true, the equations of multilayer system have been derived and developed, and then a program code has been made using FORTRAN language. The films thicknesses of the multilayer could be even quarter wavelength or unlimited The research results illustrated that the best design when the stack number equals to(6).

The behavior of solar cells and modules under various operational conditions can be determined effectively when their intrinsic parameters are accurately estimated and used to simulate the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics. This work proposed a new computational approach based on approximation and correction technique (ACT) for simple and efficient extraction of solar cells and modules parameters from the single-diode model. In this technique, an approximated value of series resistance (Rs) was first derived and used to determine the initial value of parallel resistance (Rp). Later, the final corrected values of Rs and Rp were obtained by resubstituting their approximated values in a five-loop iteration using the manipulated equations. For rapid evaluation and validation of the proposed technique, a software application was also created using MATLAB program. The correctness and robustness of the proposed technique was validated on five types of solar cells and modules operated at varied temperatures and irradiances. The lowest RMSE value was achieved for RTC France (7.78937E-4) and PVM 752 GaAs (2.10497E-4) solar cell. The legitimacy of ACT extracted parameters was established using a simple yet competitive implementation approach wherein the performance of the developed technique was compared with several state-of-the-art methods recently reported in the literature.
