Abstract

The article describes a radar technology that permits current measurements in coastal waters and rivers at sub-kilometer resolution. It reports on the German TerraSAR-X's launch of the first conventional satellite with along-track interferometry (ATI) on June 15, 2007. The article presents an overview of the ATI fundamentals and achievements, predicted capabilities of TerraSAR-X and expected developments.
